Osteria Fernanda

"In the district famous for its Porta Portese market, this restaurant run by two talented business partners is definitely worth a visit. One of the partners manages the front of house, while the other shows real passion in his creative cuisine made from locally sourced ingredients, as well as produce from further afield." - Michelin Inspector

I had a lovely birthday meal that I’m going to remember for a while! We opted for the a la carte menu, and we’ve been treated with a lovely welcome from the chef with a refined selection of bites and starters that take the Italian cuisine on a spin! The burnt aubergine & pistachio pasta were an inventive twist, and the risotto was a mix of flavours that made our dinner experience very special! Lovely service and friendly staff, I can’t recommend enough!

Well executed food and plating! Quality is amazing and kitchen did a great job! Nice ambiance and great for romantic night.. They are not cheap but it’s totally worth it!

My wife and I had the pleasure of visiting Osteria Fernanda in the Trastevere area of Rome, and it was truly a memorable experience. We chose the 7-course tasting menu, and every single dish exceeded our expectations. The seafood was incredibly fresh, and each plate was packed with deep, refined flavors that showed real attention to detail. A member of the staff recommended a local white wine to pair with the menu, and it turned out to be the perfect match—elevating the whole experience even further. The service was exceptional. Even without speaking the same language fluently, the staff seemed to understand exactly what we needed. They paid close attention to every detail, and their precision and care made us feel truly welcomed and well looked after. Osteria Fernanda gave us one of the most unforgettable dining experiences in Rome. Highly recommended!

It was the last dinner in Rome. And it was tragic. It is difficult to understand where the starter is and where the main course is. The flavor combinations are incredibly bad. It was the first time that the pictures and the taste did not match at all. There were five of us and we ordered a lot of food, but most of it was inedible, leaving me hungry. I really like sweatbreads and the first time I couldn't eat it because it was inedible, smelly, and unchewable. It was probably the worst experience in Italy. The service was also hit and miss, had to repeat several times before they were able to take the order. I don’t understand how they are able to receive good reviews? Please avoid that place and go somewhere else. It was a waste of money.

A gem of a fine dining restaurant tucked away in Trastevere. But don’t let the fine dining moniker put you off. They’re genuinely friendly here. They made our little one feel right at home and made him a pasta dish off menu. Bless. We had the 5 course tasting menu. Home made breads were tasty. The amuse bouche were interesting. The tomato infused liquor needed a little more oomph. The squid had a texture I had never experienced before. Soft yet meaty yet al dente. Impressive. The prawn infused risotto was a triumph. Umami bombtastic. Pigeon was perfectly cooked. The palate cleanser pre dessert was an utter revelation. The dessert of fermented black garlic ice cream and candied vegetable peels (yes you read that right) was a wonderful conclusion to an excellent meal. There were flashes of brilliance that would deserve a Michelin star. Highly recommended and definitely worth a detour from the historic centre of Rome.

Google
Greate food. Michelin class restaurant. Amazing experience. But this place is to experience new tastes. Do not expect huge amounts of food on your plate. Expect a surprise that could change your perspective on how to mix flavors and ingredients. I was there with my wife and we really enjoyed it a lot.

Yelp
a bright and cheery spot in the Porta Portese area of Rome just outside the main Trastevere neighborhood Chef Davide Del Duca will delight you with his extremely creative dishes, also his most famous dish, bucatini all'amatriciana, along with some other classic Roman specialities the whole point of coming to Fernanda is to try something new, something daring and bold No outdoor seating

Yelp
This was our first tasting menu in Rome and we were delighted by the creativeness of the different dishes, over 8, in my count. There were some hits and misses for us but an overall would recommend at a solid 4.5 stars. Must try in Trastavere area.

Yelp
Awesome find, away (but not far) from the touristy areas in Rome. Honestly, this deserves a Michelin star. We had the Artigiano Curioso and the dishes kept positively surprising us. Add to that the price, fairly affordable, for what we ate, and this beats many one-starred establishments I've been to. The restaurant was full for dinner service, mostly locals, and I thought this was a good sign. I read the 1-star review prior to going and thought it was a bit concerning, but my experience was the complete opposite. The lighting was perfect, service was excellent. I will definitely return and recommend it to others.

Yelp
Where to begin?... This restaurant is tucked in the inlet of a congested parking lot. Once you park and have visibility to it's intimate dining room with 2 floors, a floor-to-ceiling bookshelf, and sophisticated towering table lamps. Luckily, we sat on the 2nd floor away from the chatter of the floor and with closeness to the kitchen to see the executive/sous chef and a team of 3-4 stationary chefs. We reviewed the menu and decided to let the kitchen decide 4 courses for us. It is important to share we asked to be served a specific course in the presentation which they accommodated without hesitation. Their wine listing contained a great, fairly priced, quality wine; fair enough to purchase a bottle for the table without being too expensive. The photos speak for themselves: creative, multi-textured, colorful, surprising, and enticingly layered flavors that dance. A must for anyone who respects the art of culinary.

Yelp
We experienced their tasting menu last night that was amazing in every way. Each serving was paired with a different wine for a fantastic experience. Hands down the best overall dining experience of our entire three country tour.

Yelp
Hidden (perhaps a little too well) between the Testaccio and Trastevere areas of central Rome, this restaurant offers a creative take on roman and other italian classics. The dining room and decor are great, suggesting a welcoming and almost familial atmosphere. Service is great, with front of house staff being helpful, knowledgeable, and attentive. Perhaps unusually, all staff seem to care for all tables, which makes for a collegial and familial, though a little disorganized, dining room. The tasting menus are likely the stars of the dining experience, with 6-10 course options all consisting of memorable takes on traditional dishes, the fried lamb being one of the stand out courses. Options are available for vegetarians as well, and the staff is always happy to make adjustments to accommodate diners' needs. Finally, wine recommendations by the co-owner/sommelier are also great, pairing expertly sourced italian wines with as many (or as few) of the courses as the diner desires. Definitely worth a stop.

Yelp
Unpretensious and delicious. Went with my family for a tasting menu dinner in Trastevere, trying to escape the tourist crowd in the Historic Center, and was not disappointed. Without reservations, we were welcome 1h before closing time and the attention of the staff was impressive. We had the "Francesco" tasting menu, which gave us a sample of the best of Italian ingredients with a smart contemporary approach and at a very fair price. The red Primitivo wine from Puglia was a great surprise, under EUR25 and amazing. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a nice dinner any day of the week/weekend.

Yelp
The chef's 16 course tasting menu is the best option. Absurdly creative and tasty creations constantly come your way. You will genuinely smile the entire time. Fun window to the kitchen to watch the flavors get whipped up.
