"Amidst vineyards and the renowned cypress avenue, Osteria Magona is a must-visit for meat enthusiasts and Tuscan regional cuisine aficionados. Impeccable are the famous soups, from ribollita to pappa al pomodoro, alongside gnudi and fresh pastas. The wine list offers ample room to various Bolgheri labels." - Michelin Inspector

Pair Tuscan Wine and Fresh Seafood in Bolgheri, Italy

"A converted farmhouse known for an exceptional bistecca alla Fiorentina prepared by chef Omar Barsacchi and a deep, regionally focused wine list featuring lengthy verticals of Bolgheri’s greatest reds; the restaurant combines rustic atmosphere with seriously impressive cooking." - Ray Isle

How to Spend Three Wine-Fueled Days in Tuscany

"On my final night along the Tuscan Coast I went to dinner at the beloved Osteria Magona, a true Meatopia-by-the-sea where meats from Dario Cecchini are paired with chef Omar Barsacchi’s cooking; over a blind-tasting lineup of Super Tuscans and more bistecca alla Fiorentina than I probably should have eaten, we discussed just how far the region has come." - Brian Freedman

One of the best in Tuscany maybe one of the best in Italy. Great food, serious deep wine list with back vintage well priced. Excellent team they here to make you have a good time without being too much. Delicious home made pasta with paper thin ravioli. Matured meat steak was top. Back vintage wine condition was impeccable and well prepared. Grazie a Omar and all the team. Don’t walk run to this wonderful place !

Delicious food, incredible wine selection all highlighting Tuscany. We had the beef tar tar, two pastas and the florentine steak, followed by tiramisu and ice cream. The service was incredible as the waiter explained all the dishes with a lot of patience and insight. The ambiance was also stellar and it really felt so authentic!

We made a reservation and requested a tasting menu for each person. The surprise came when the sommelier stopped attending to the families outside to focus solely on a demanding family who claimed to be wine connoisseurs, completely forgetting the rest of us who were waiting. From that point on, we didn’t even enjoy the food. However, the place was beautiful and relaxing, with very lovely dogs in the restaurant’s kennel. But it wasn’t worth the high price.

Authentic Tuscan food, tasty steak but not as impressive as I was expecting and I went filet. Wife enjoyed the spinach and ricotta ravioli although a little more dense than we’re used to (called it like a soufflé). Wine was absolutely stellar for the price. Would’ve liked to try the tasting menu but had a toddler with short patience ☺️ Service was slow but it was pretty full lunch crowd by the time we left. Lovely terrace and nice breeze with surrounding green areas.

There was a time when this steak restaurant stood out — not just for the quality of the food, but for the warm, attentive service that made dining there a memorable experience. Unfortunately, those days are gone. What used to feel like a special night out now feels more like a trip through a conveyor belt. The restaurant has clearly shifted its focus to volume over experience. Tables are crammed together, and the staff seems overwhelmed, rushing from one order to the next with little time — or interest — in offering genuine hospitality. You’re no longer treated like a guest, but like a number in a long line of tickets that need to be cleared. Even the steaks, while still decent, suffer from the overall lack of care. There’s no longer that consistency or attention to detail that made the place great. When the atmosphere becomes chaotic and the service robotic, it’s hard to enjoy even a good cut of meat. I don’t recommend this restaurant anymore. There are better places to spend your money — where service still matters, and dining doesn’t feel like being herded through a fast-food version of what used to be fine dining.

The food is delicious and the atmosphere is beautiful. I celebrated a wonderful 30th birthday here and had dinner – I can truly recommend this place to everyone.

Excelent meat, and competent service. Very nice place to be on a sunny and windy day. Wine selections is decent. My only complaint is with the food temperature, I understand that it is good to let a grilled piece of meat to cool so it can retain it's liquids and flavors better, but I'd rather it be warmer at the table.. What I did appreciate a lot is that they show you the raw piece of meat they're going to serve you beforehand. What a nice touch imo.
