The 15 Best Restaurants In Palermo 2024

"Osteria Mercede is located just a few blocks behind the famous Teatro Massimo opera house (which you’ll recognize from The Godfather Part III, White Lotus, or both, depending on how old you are) and is open most days for lunch and dinner. Here, the owner's previous life as a mariner comes through in the loosely-nautical decor and Mediterranean color scheme. They offer decent pricing for an entirely fish-based menu—think shellfish pastas, pesto alla trapanese with prawns, and mussels with tenerumi squash. In addition to traditional Italian plates like pasta with clams or mussels, you’ll find daily specials such as swordfish alla palermitana written on the hanging chalkboards in the dining room." - linda sarris

Every single dish was amazing. The mixed starters, the pasta and the fish as well as the dessert tasted great and made us want more. Food arrives quickly, service is good and friendly and wine recommendations are good as well. Very much recommended! Book well in advance.

Came here on recommendation from our airbnb host and it did not disappoint!! They were actually booked out when we came so they make us a reservation for the next day and we are so glad we came back!! Food was delicious, especially the fish dishes - super fish and felt like it was mad with love.

We came to this restaurant based on a recommendation from the hosts of the apartment we rented. It’s definitely more of a local spot than a tourist one, which we really appreciated. The food was excellent — top quality — though I’d personally rate it 4+ rather than a full 5. The octopus and calamari were just a little too firm for our taste. Since it was lunchtime and quite busy, we had to remind the waitstaff a couple of times about extra olive oil or water, but I assume it was simply due to how full the restaurant was.

Truly amazing experience! Absolutely delicious seafood ! Everything tasted great and presented beautifully! My first ever experience of trying amberjack fish and it was cooked to perfection . Nice wine . Place was packed with people . Everyone seemed to enjoy their meals . Luckily we managed to sit outside, so please book in advance.

We were recommended the restaurant by our B&B and they kindly booked it for us. Making a reservation for dinner is essential. We had the freshest and most delicious carpaccio of amber fish, followed by pasta with cod, Swordfish Palermo style and tiramisu which was delicious. Not to forget the little appetiser we were offered at the beginning. We asked our waiter to recommend a local red wine and the choice was superb. The quality of everything was the best and was excellent value for money. We can see why it was our hosts favourite fish restaurant.

Amazing pasta and wine. We didn’t make a reservation but we arrived very early so they were able to accommodate us for a quick dinner. We ordered a squid ink spaghetti, a prawn pasta with Sicilian red pesto, and a spaghetti with anchovies meatballs, and paired it all with a nice bottle of Sicilian grillo wine - all were very delicious. The dessert mangomisu was a pleasant surprise and not too sweet. P.s. If you prefer your pasta less al dente, you should let the server know in advance.
