Osteria Palmira - Review - Monteverde - Rome - The Infatuation

"Some say picchiapò’s name comes from “picchia un po,” meaning “give it a little hit,” which is probably a nod to pounding the tough leftover boiled beef to tenderize it. We like to think it’s because Nonna had to smack away anyone trying to sneak a bite from the pan before dinner. The version made by Osteria Palmira stands above the rest. Picture tender, long-simmered beef slow-cooked in a slightly spicy tomato sauce, balanced by the sweetness of caramelized onions. A glass of Cesanese on the side is optional. A hunk of crusty bread to soak up every last bit is not. video credit: Maela Bonafede photo credit: Maela Bonafede photo credit: Maela Bonafede photo credit: Maela Bonafede photo credit: Maela Bonafede Pause Unmute" - Annie Replogle

This place feels like your typical italian family restaurant, the owners were really funny and welcoming with us! All the pastas are homemade and we highly recommend the Amatriciana and the Fettuccine con Ragu’ di cortile (recommended by the owner & it did not dissappoint). Perfect closure for the evening, share a portion of their homemade tiramisu🍨 We got there after 9pm, and were sat outside, felt like we are not on the touristy part of Rome, so to see a different face of the city, we highly recommend going here.

One of the best Osterie in Rome, in my opinion - always a guarantee! Rigatoni alla pajata are the best I have ever had, the antipasti are all amazing and their polpette di bollito very nice. Lovely house wine, very kind service.

Very tasty and good food for a fair price. Beyond that, the service from Claudio and the other waiters was excellent! Very unique place in Monteverde. I was so happy to go there and will return many other times for sure.

Truly delicious Roman cooking. Friendly and casual atmosphere. Off the beaten tourist track. Happened upon the Osteria Palmira after a long walk in the park around the Villa Doria Pamphilji. We’ll come back on our next trip to Rome. Worth every Euro.

The menu offered some roman classics like cacio e pepe, carbonarra, and from Amatrice town, Amatriciana. Felt like a neighborhood spot. I loved the wine list focused on local wines.

We happened to find this place by chance and were absolutely charmed. The food is delicious (with a great selection for vegetarians), the atmosphere is lovely, and the staff is warm and welcoming. Highly recommend!

The pollo alla romana was fall-of-the bone tender and the pepper sauce had a nice depth of flavor. The side dish of cicoria was a bit dry and whilst the carbonara were done well, they were a bit too salty for our liking. The service was very fast, however they forgot the bread and water, as well as served a side dish after having cleared away all our mains.

Yelp
Great Pasta, not sure if its the best ive ever had but def. top2! Service was nice but they almost only speak italian, which is a good sign for italian food Prices are very reasonable, we paid around 30 euros for 2 plates of pasta, 2 beers and water

Yelp
By far the best cacio&pepe and amratriciana in the past few weeks in Rome. Started with a very nice misticanza (mixed green) together with a mozzarella di buffala. And that was the meal...truly fantastic and far better than any of the mediocre restaurants so far. (The rumor is we are following a rec from Alice Waters...)
