Osteria Palmira - Review - Monteverde - Rome - The Infatuation

"Some say picchiapò’s name comes from “picchia un po,” meaning “give it a little hit,” which is probably a nod to pounding the tough leftover boiled beef to tenderize it. We like to think it’s because Nonna had to smack away anyone trying to sneak a bite from the pan before dinner. The version made by Osteria Palmira stands above the rest. Picture tender, long-simmered beef slow-cooked in a slightly spicy tomato sauce, balanced by the sweetness of caramelized onions. A glass of Cesanese on the side is optional. A hunk of crusty bread to soak up every last bit is not. video credit: Maela Bonafede photo credit: Maela Bonafede photo credit: Maela Bonafede photo credit: Maela Bonafede photo credit: Maela Bonafede Pause Unmute" - Annie Replogle

Quintessential upscale Italian neighborhood trattoria with an ever changing seasonal menu. Staff are very friendly and the food is very good. They were very busy but the bustle added to the family atmosphere and we never felt crowded or rushed My starter Bollito alla Picchiapó was a very tasty bowl of tomatoey stewed beef, full of flavor, piping hot, and perfect with the excellent bread, baked locally. My second was also simple, roasted veal, sliced and sauced with crispy roast potatoes and a side of verdantly green and fresh chicory stems with a buttery spicy dressing. The meat was roasted to perfection and melted in my mouth. We'll be back! Recommended.

This place feels like your typical italian family restaurant, the owners were really funny and welcoming with us! All the pastas are homemade and we highly recommend the Amatriciana and the Fettuccine con Ragu’ di cortile (recommended by the owner & it did not dissappoint). Perfect closure for the evening, share a portion of their homemade tiramisu🍨 We got there after 9pm, and were sat outside, felt like we are not on the touristy part of Rome, so to see a different face of the city, we highly recommend going here.

It was so good we went two nights in a row!! The service was great. Our server was very friendly and efficient. He told jokes and made recommandations. The food set the bar very high for the rest of our trip to Italy. The carbonara was the best we ever had, the cacio e Pepe was comforting and I have no words for the tiramisu. Yes it was THAT GOOD. We would 100% come back. If you absolutely want to eat there we would recommend making a reservation as this restaurant is often fully booked:)

Visited this cozy place and tried the pesto pasta — delicious, aromatic, and really well prepared. The portion wasn’t too big, just enough to enjoy the flavor without feeling too full. I especially liked the texture — perfectly al dente. By the way, I calculated the calories of this dish using the service mentioned in the photo attached to this review. It turned out to be very quick and convenient — just a few seconds and everything’s ready! Now I recommend everyone to try using this calorie-counting service — it makes tracking your nutrition super easy.

One of the best Osterie in Rome, in my opinion - always a guarantee! Rigatoni alla pajata are the best I have ever had, the antipasti are all amazing and their polpette di bollito very nice. Lovely house wine, very kind service.

Very tasty and good food for a fair price. Beyond that, the service from Claudio and the other waiters was excellent! Very unique place in Monteverde. I was so happy to go there and will return many other times for sure.

The pollo alla romana was fall-of-the bone tender and the pepper sauce had a nice depth of flavor. The side dish of cicoria was a bit dry and whilst the carbonara were done well, they were a bit too salty for our liking. The service was very fast, however they forgot the bread and water, as well as served a side dish after having cleared away all our mains.

Yelp
Great Pasta, not sure if its the best ive ever had but def. top2! Service was nice but they almost only speak italian, which is a good sign for italian food Prices are very reasonable, we paid around 30 euros for 2 plates of pasta, 2 beers and water

Yelp
By far the best cacio&pepe and amratriciana in the past few weeks in Rome. Started with a very nice misticanza (mixed green) together with a mozzarella di buffala. And that was the meal...truly fantastic and far better than any of the mediocre restaurants so far. (The rumor is we are following a rec from Alice Waters...)
