First, this restaurant is absolutely beautiful. The menu is also really good. The waitress / manager Goya gave us (party of 6) outstanding service on busy comic-con weekend. The bread that you start with was absolutely amazing. Soft, crispy on the crust, and super soft inside. The butter paired with it was soft and perfectly complimented the bread. I wish I took a photo of it. What better way to see the excellence of the chef than a few appetizers. So I tried the tuna tartar and it was big and delicious. 6 of us shared it. We loved the MELENZANE FARCITE eggplant stuffed with ricotta and spinach, marinara sauce and fresh mozzarela, baked. FUNGHI RIPIENI mushroom caps, lump crab meat, peppers, bread crumbs, shallots, fresh herbs. This is a smaller appetizer and not really a good option for 6 people, but definitely 2 people. RISOTTO PORTOFINO Creamy aborio rice shrimp asparagus and marscäpone cheese. (Best I've ever had) COZZE E VONGOĻE INUMIDO mussels and clams sauteed with cherry tomatoes, garlic white wine sauce served with crostini. FORMAGGI & SALUMI (for two) chef's selection of cheese and meats board pears, honey, candied walnuts. Every appetizer was smacking!! But the stuffed eggplant is a must try! If you love seafood the tuna tartar was my favorite! We had 2 more dishes, one was a pasta, another was a clam mussels with shrimp in a pink vodka sauce. It was a special and I don't remember the name. The only reason this place didn't get 5 stars is to put a 3.75% surcharge, then tax the total on top of that charge is straight jacking..

Nostalgic Italian Restaurante in Gas Lamp District in San Diego. Busy. Fun. The appetizer bread was delicious. Food was amazing. Everything was really good. Service was fantastic.

Google
Nice Italian restaurant with a bar and limited outdoor dining. This place is located in a very lively area of the city with dozens of dining options. If you weren’t looking for this place you may walk right past it. Since it’s in the busy part of San Diego, I assume parking is extremely limited and you’d probably park in a garage and walk to this place. My chicken parm was very good. The bread was excellent. They have many wines to choose from and their cocktail menu looked pretty impressive. Absolutely no complaints from my party about their food. The appetizers were tasty. I took a picture of the bar area and then some pictures of art on the wall that caught my eye. I wasn’t sure what it represented.

Google
I have yet to eat here, but I do have to mention the lady who greets people on the street in front is very welcoming and inviting and spent time yesterday going through the menu with me, even talking about vegan specialties and I left with the feeling of exceptional customer service, even as a non-patriot as of yet. Beautiful patios on the inner part of the street and the outer..

Google
Absolutely fantastic experience! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm and inviting. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive without being overbearing. Every dish we ordered was a hit — the pasta was fresh and perfectly cooked, and the sauces were rich and flavorful. The tiramisu for dessert was the best I’ve ever had! You can really taste the care and authenticity in every bite. This place is a true gem for anyone who loves Italian food. We’ll definitely be coming back!

Google
I wonder what.... 3% surcharge is??? This is illegal bro. What I see on the menu is what i should be paying. Don't even bother have pricing then In fact, why didn't they just do 100% surcharge --- Then they could make double. Also waiter thought we were vaping? Cmon bruh It's all right ...7/10 food It's so hard to mess up pasta and somehow they almost did. Noodles were al dente, but the flavor isn't complex. The spices and flavors arent all that great. Seafood pasta had shrimp were pretty small perhaps frozen. The gnocchi was acceptable. The bolognese, quite watered down.

Google
Definitely a tourist trap in the middle of the gaslamp quarter. Bread was warm, calamari appetizers was ok. Their cioppino ingredient is the same as their risotto dish except no rice and they added a bunch of capers and olives, like seriously!?!?!?!? This was definitely not the proper way to make it. Instead of a soup, they basically gave me some leftover pasta sauce as you can see from the picture in terms of consistency. If you can't make it then don't serve it. Very disappointed for $100 a person. Tiramisu was great though. The restaurant was disturbingly loud with the patrons shouting at each other and laughing. I would try Osteria Cotto E Mangiano but a more intimate setting and better food.

Google
All around excellent food, up to the standards of Little Italy. Went there for Father’s Day and wasn’t disappointed.

Yelp
My wife and I recently visited the Osteria Panevino restaurant in San Diego on Fifth Avenue. We had a wonderful time. The food was spectacular. The ambiance of the restaurant was very nice. I wanted to mention our amazing server, Sabrina. When we arrived, the restaurant was just opening. At first, Sabrina was the only employee there running the show. Even though Sabrina was getting busy, she was very concerned about taking care of us. She made us a couple of fantastic Italian Old Fashioned's. Other employees soon arrived and the service by everyone was top quality. They paid attention to our table and tended to our needs. They were always checking and clearing the table and refilling our water. My wife and I had a very nice experience at the Osteria Panevino restaurant. I recommend it.

Yelp
The food and service were amazing! We're vegetarians and love Italian cuisine, and this place did not disappoint. We tried the Fettuccine Alfredo, Gnocchi, and chocolate fudge - everything tasted incredible!

Yelp
Good place to have a decent sit down meal. I did expect more, since I chose this place to celebrate a special occasion. I am happy to say that I make better lamb chops at home!

Yelp
Just finished an awful dinner at Osteria. Everything about this place gave me the heeby jeebies. I order the pork chop special. It came out late; five minutes after everyone else's dishes. It was also overcooked and rubbery. I took one bite and sent it back. In its place I ordered the other special--the "Seafood Spaghetti Diablo" it was supposed to be spicy. It wasn't at all. It came out in three minutes, which is stupidly fast, and was so bland I assumed they scooped the seafood out of a bucket of water, mixed it with some terrible tomato sauce, and rushed it out. The selling point of the dish was that it came with lobster. The lobster tail was meh, but they actually gave me a claw with no meat in it. Like...WTF is this for a $55 "special" dish?!? Server was great and responsive, but that was the only redeeming aspect of my dinner. At one point when everyone was finished and the six of us were CLEARLY in a conversation, a different, but very aggressive server stood over the table and in a raised voice questioned how the everything was. I shot him a look like...dude stfu. Our sever then started eating at a table behind us which was pretty awkward. The men who worked here just gave me the ick. Testosterone through the roof for a shitty Italian place that should have gone out of business a long time ago. Anyway...I'm pissed that this place is spoiling San Diego's culinary name. I love this city. I love downtown. This place needs to go ASAP. STAY AWAY.

Yelp
Literally just left the place and I had to write this this instant cause we honestly had the best experience, it's restaurant week and came upon this cute little Italian restaurant in downtown. Made the reservations for 5:30, already a few people and more started trickling in. Service was amazing our server was very tentative and made sure we were good our drinks are good and our food came in time. Really amazing service, authentic Italian was also spoken felt like I was just transform into a small town in Italy. Interior was simple but very chick and cute. Now let's get to the good part...drinks amazing! Great pour very tasty and flavorful. My husband and I tried the calamari it was very fresh and with a squeeze of lemon juice. We also had the zucchini blossom..the sauce that they put was so delicious and it complimented the arugula as well as the other toppings. My husband had the salmon over spinach, the flavor was astonishing it had pistachios on top and the crunch with the salmon was just amazing, the short ribs was so tender and the sauce with it delicious! I mean it was just mouth watering flavors in my mouth. Tiramisu was made to perfection along with the limoncello so moist and great portion of the bitter and sweet to it. Great experience for restaurant week and great food.

Yelp
I was on a bit of a ravioli kick in San Diego so finding the spot was great. Fresh made pasta that taste delicious and some of the best pesto cream I've ever had. Will definitely go back when I return to San Diego!

Yelp
Amazing service from our server. He was like a ninja, singing Italian melodies, if you look away and back at your table, there is exactly what you ordered. The food is very typical Italian faire with the standard flair. Nothing to write home about, but nothing to pass on either. Even when it's cold, the outdoor heaters and cozy home style food kept me nice and toasty.

Yelp
Pretty solid spot in gaslamp for italian food! My friends and I came here for nye dinner. We made reservations which was the right call for our party of 10. Their complimentary bread is so good! I also recommend their pastas and skipping the fried calamari. My favorite pastas were short rib ravioli, lasagna and penne.
google avatar

Larion L.

Yelp
Such a touristy place. The food was ok, nothing special. I wouldn't come back and wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Ordered their special pasta in a cheese wheel: the guy with cheese was standing too far I couldn't see anything. When pasta made it to my table it was too cold, I couldn't eat it :(
google avatar

Greg H.

Yelp
Amazing food all around, and the service was incredible. With the pasta dishes being the main emphasis, I loved how they also have dietary options such as gluten free pasta available. The servers and chefs were incredibly kind, and the dinner topped a great evening visiting San Diego.
google avatar

Yelp
Great location in the gaslamp quarter district and easy enough menu. I noticed a cheese wheel pasta as market price for $33 so I had to get it as it came with truffle too. I just wishes they made it in the cheese wheel in front of you. The chicken Parmesan was portioned well and service was great. Decent food, and price.

Yelp
I came for the happy hour (Monday to Sunday from 4-6) and I loved it. They have good prices for wine, beer, well drinks and martinis and also for food. Half off pizzas and appetizers. I got a glass of Sauvignon that was a house wine and it was great. Usually they don't have variety in house wines during happy hours but they good choices. Next time I'm coming to try the food! The staff was very nice and attentive.

Yelp
This was easily the WORST meal I had had all year! I even waited until the end of 2023 just in case I'd feel differently about it, but no this meal sucked more than any other meal I had in 2023. It was a craptacular experience from start to finish. This is especially sad due to the fact that the average plate is about $40 and the cheapest salad on the menu is just under $10. I've had better food and service at Denny's on a busy Sunday afternoon when they're grand slammed full of customers. Yeah, this place is THAT terrible to me. Here's a rundown of why this place is just a Downtown Gaslamp tourist-trap. Sucky Service: after a nice welcome from the greeter outside who seated us, it took like 5mins just to get menus. Another few minutes for drinks to arrive. Then we waited another 10mins to place our order. This restaurant was not full or busy, yet we waited what seemed like a too much time for our food to arrive. I expected this could happen as I get that good food can take time to prepare, so I insisted on ordering salads...more on that later. Eventually, someone remembered to actually bring us bread. Sadly, the bread was the highlight here. The table next to us, a family who were seated well after we were seated, received their bread and salads before we did. WTF? Our main dishes eventually came out. The lobster pasta was grand in display but we found a hair in our dish which ruined it for us. Didn't bother to send it back since we were already tight on time due to the painfully slow service. Our waiter actually came to check on us only once after we ordered, as we were wrapping up our meal, and asked if we received the salads we ordered. NOPE! He didn't apologize and just replied that he'll have them brought out. He dashed into the back before I had a chance to say "don't bother". The salads came out but we didn't touch them. Then, I had to flag someone down to ask for the bill, while I watched the lovely older couple seated beside us struggling to get someone to take their payment. The restaurant removed the salads from the bill when it arrived. If the hadn't done that I think I would have lost it and demanded the manager. Overall, we dropped well over $100 towards a nice meal downtown and would have faired better eating food from one of the street vendors in the area. My advice is do not go here. Run away. Dine elsewhere. There are plenty of other overpriced restaurants in the area that will treat you better and serve you better food. Looking forward to much much better food experiences in 2024!

Yelp
We recently had the chance to experience a chef's tasting at Osteria, and honestly, it blew us away. It's not every day you walk into a place and feel immediately taken care of, but that's exactly what happened. We were greeted warmly and seated in the outdoor patio, which was cozy and inviting. The evening kicked off with some White Zinfandel and red wine. The Zinfandel was light, refreshing, and had a nice aroma, while the red wine was just the right kind of medium-bodied, making it an excellent start to our meal. The service throughout the night was top-notch; our server was friendly and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed. He even brought out some warm bread with white butter, which was a simple yet perfect beginning. The chef's tasting menu was full of surprises, starting with a burrata caprese salad. The presentation was impressive, and the salad itself was incredibly fresh and tasty. Then came the eggplant parmesan, which honestly changed my mind about eggplant. I've never been a big fan, but this dish was delicious and beautifully presented. The pesto ravioli followed, and it was as good as we hoped--creamy, flavorful, and just a joy to eat. The ingredients tasted fresh, and the dish was a highlight of the night. Ending on a high note, the dessert was a Tiramisu that exceeded our expectations. Not overly sweet, the dessert had a perfect balance of coffee and chocolate, and the moistness of the cake was spot-on. Overall, the chef's tasting at Osteria was a standout experience. It wasn't just about the food, which was exceptional, but also about the warmth and care from the staff. It definitely changed my view of the restaurant for the better, making it a top recommendation for anyone in the Gaslamp District looking for quality Italian cuisine.

Yelp
2.5 stars... This joint was on my brides list so we popped in early on a Saturday night before the crowds arrived. When we entered there was a hint of backed up sewer in the air..No draft beer, so I stick to water. Started out with the calamari, shrimp, and zucchini app. Overcooked and greasy. Opted for the pasta bolognese..very good! High quality pasta and a good meat sauce. Highlight of the meal was the fresh bread...wonderful! Smelled bad, restrooms were smelly with greasy floors, app was not good... this joint would never fly in Little Italy...and that's where I'll head in the future. This joint does not make the list.

Yelp
Very cute place, love the murals on the wall. We stopped for a late lunch. Had eggplant appetizer, which was delicious. Then we had linguine with clams, outstanding, and the chicken Parm was huge, tender, and extremely flavorful. Out of all the Italian restaurants. we ate in while in San Diego on vacation, This is absolutely the best.

Yelp
Osteria Panevino is right smack in the middle of Gaslamp. They even close that block, so the ambiance is really nice with patio seating. I came here for a business dinner, with a party of 9, sat out on the patio. It wasn't busy when we arrived but got busy as the night went on. For some reason, our food took forever. The party of 6 next to us arrived later and ordered later but got everything à least 30 minutes ahead of us. Our server also didn't write anything down and forgot one orders. The food was disappointing. We got some appetizers to share- bruschetta, burrata with tomatoes, calamari, soup, salad. They forgot my salad but by then it was too late. Burrata wasn't the best but had some of that burrata tasting. The bread on the bruschetta was hard as hell. I got the pappardelle with ragu bolognese. There was no seasoning or salt. Literally tasted like just sour tomato sauce. Good amount of ragu but needed that seasoning. Which was weird, another person got the chicken and he said it was overly salted. I could have used that salt. The best thing was probably the chocolate lava cake. That was good, otherwise their other dishes were okay. If you want good Italian food, little Italy is a better choice. This was close and convenient to the convention center for work.

Yelp
I really enjoyed the atmosphere inside the restaurant. I was surprised how most people stayed outside but I definitely prefer the indoor dining space. With this location being the home of the oldest restaurant in Gaslamp it's definitely worth taking a seat inside. I really enjoyed the limoncello spritz and the focaccia bread was so delicious! It was fluffy and fresh and seasoned excellently. Also greatly enjoyed the eggplant Parmesan! The eggplant was tender, and I felt like there was the right ratio of cheese to eggplant. Their limoncello cake was also delicious! Our entrees were also very good, but I was very impressed with the eggplant Parmesan. I would definitely return here to eat again!

Seini M.

Yelp
Food was great but service could have been better. Our waiter wasn't attentive, waited nearly 20 minutes before being checked on once seated and then during dinner, didn't check in to see if we needed water, refills or anything else.
google avatar

Ryan K.

Yelp
Chef Boyardee tastes better. Our food came out all at once and drinks arrived after the meal was half way through. The staff was pretending to have Italian accents but obviously were not Italian. It was really weird. And they were sort of rude and extremely hurried even though the restaurant was half empty. The noodles in my son's lasagna was mushy and the sauce cold around the edges like it had been sitting for ages waiting for someone to order it. The lamb tasted burned and was surged lukewarm. Very disappointing.
google avatar

Stephanie B.

Yelp
I'd rather go to Little Italy if I'm feeling Italian food, but decided to stay close to home and try somewhere new. It is a small place with indoor and outdoor seating. We were seated outside and there is a lot of foot traffic, noise, and homeless in view and very close to your table. The ambiance is likely better inside. Service: our server was great. She checked on us enough, was friendly, and informative about the menu. Food: food was just ok. We enjoyed the complimentary bread and butter. We started with a stuffed eggplant appetizer. It had way too much cheese and the sauce was a bit runny. For entrees, I got the pollo siciliano, which was a large portion of chicken in a white wine sauce topped with mozzarella cheese, eggplant and tomato. This was tasty, but I thought it should have come with some sort of side. My husband got a penne dish that was also ok. The sauce again was a bit on the runny side and therefore didn't stick to the pasta well.
google avatar

Marianne P.

Yelp
Went for dinner. Service was excellent. We had Chianti and shared an antipasto. My husband had the lasagne which was not great. However, I had fresh pasta cacio Pepe which was excellent. They brought me a complimentary piece of tiramisu for my birthday. I would definitely recommend this restaurant when visiting the Gaslight district in San Diego.
google avatar

Sandy A.

Yelp
On a very busy evening, we sat comfortably woutside (heaters) got great service and ate delicious food. We ordered coctails to start, and my Old Fashion was so good I sipped it slowly and saved half for dessert. We had a good Italian bottle of red--Le Clay wine--reasonably priced. The artichoke appitizer was so yummy! Then we shared the beef short rib ravioli. Good decision, because then we were able to squeeze in some creme brulee to finish off. Our waitress was charming and efficient. We'll definitely come back next time we're in San Diego.
google avatar

Mark Y.

Yelp
Overall, the place is okay. I thought service was good, ambiance is okay but not great, and food was acceptable. I came here for restaurant week and tried the mushroom crab cake, chicken dish, and lemon cake. Food was all decent but nothing special. The flavor of all dishes were a bit bland for me and not too interesting. Chicken was a bit dry and tasted cheap. Sauce was appropriate but nothing that stands out. My favorite had to be the lemon cake, which was served warm and fresh. I would highly recommend this selection for the dessert. I think they are a four star restaurant but would love to see improvements.
google avatar

Kristi C.

Yelp
10/10!! I crave the pasta from here. The short rib pasta (I forgot the menu name of it) is absolutely delicious. I can't wait to come back to order and try the other pastas as well. It is worth it to get an appetizer or side salad to go with your pasta.
google avatar

Julie Y.

Yelp
The pasta here got me by surprise. The pesto sauce was so creamy, the flavors had so much depth. This was my favorite dish of all. The clam linguine is another great recommendation, strong garlic flavor that complemented the overall dish. Truffle fries and pizza was pretty standard, it was good but nothing that stood out to me. The pastas are the highlight of the restaurant. Service is very good, the waiters are very polite and welcoming. The ambiance is very cozy with a rustic interior, cute for date night!
google avatar

Brandy G.

Yelp
Do you know how sometimes when you're very fortunate, the stars align to provide you with a "food moment"? Or what my sister and I also refer to as the moment you have the very first bite of a dish that's so absolutely delicious it might just leave you momentarily speechless, bring a tear to your eye, OR make you literally stop chewing because the taste is so distracting - in a good way. (I've seen all three happen with "food moments" I've witnesssed others have). In my case - my food moment occurred the moment I popped one of Osteria Panevino's signature gnocchi balls in my mouth. YALL. When I tell you I wasn't ready for this dish - I WASNT READY. I've never been a huge gnocchi fan previously (just not one of my go to-s for whatever reason) but literally every single member of the awesome staff I interacted with recommended the gnocchi. As soon as I had that first bite - I was hooked. I then proceeded to INHALE the entire dish without an ounce of regret for the calories. I also had the ossobuco as my main dish and it was delicious too but the gnocchi hands down stole the show. I would (and will) come back just for the gnocchi (and great service).
google avatar

Yelp
Delicious. Best Gnocci i have ever had in my life. No cap no hyperbole! The Margherita pizza was delicious deep dish style. Wonderful raspberry passion cocktail too!

Yelp
We made a reservation the day-of and were sat immediately upon arriving. The decorations and vibes inside were great, and everything was really clean! The bar setup was super cute and they had a lot of options on their drink menu. Also, major plus, they offer a birthday cake with candle to celebrate! The food was AMAZING! Seriously some of the best Italian food we've had in San Diego. Our standouts were the Pizza because of the fluffy crust, and the Bruschettone because of the delicious burrata. Everything else was honestly so good it was hard to choose the best ones. For drinks we ordered the Berry Coconut Mojito and an Old Fashioned. Both were perfectly sweet, which we enjoy! Overall, we will definitely be coming back and recommending this place! The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive of our table despite having so many other guests. 10/10!

Yelp
Our group of 4 came for dinner before a comedy show Saturday night. I really can't get over how gross the food was here. Our entrees came out within 10 minutes of us ordering it. It was obviously premade and just sitting out or something along those lines. My risotto tasted freezer burnt. The Cacio e Pepe gnocchi was super puffy and soft, and just not cooked well at all, which is sad because the flavor of the sauce was actually good. Neither were hot or appetizing. The other 2 meals were appetizers and just subpar at best. Our waiter was short with us and seemed perturbed to be serving our group. It was a disappointing experience overall and I'm shocked by how high the rating is here for how poor the service and food is at this establishment.
google avatar

Fahed H.

Yelp
The pizza is bad, or I didn't like it at all. PizzaHut is way nicer and tastes much better

Tony A.

Yelp
Loved the food but the complimentary bread was the best I have ever had. Stella the hostess was so welcoming with her sweet disposition!! Our waitress was also as nice. Place was busy but they still managed to bring our food in a prompt manner.

Lisal F.

Yelp
For a restaurant whose website boasts a world renowned chef, classic Italian culinary adventures, and magical flavors I was expecting to be wowed. I was not. Upon arriving our server quickly rattled off the night's specials, however the restaurant was quite loud so it was difficult to hear and when asked to repeat them she seemed put out. There are exactly zero vegan options for starters, salads, pasta, or entrees, and when asked whether a vegan option could be prepared our server again seemed annoyed. The kitchen was able to prepare the bruschettone antipasti with the burrata on the side, however there was much bread and limited tomato/caper topping - not worth the $14.95 price. None of the house-made pasta is vegan (contains egg), so I ended up ordering the following: spaghetti (boxed) with marinara sauce and eggplant. I received the following: penne with marinara sauce with no eggplant. It was fine, but the flavor profile was such that I could replicate at home - not what would expect for high end Italian. When we notified the server she seemed surprised and did not offer to have my order corrected. She did take it off the bill, but for the reported caliber of this establishment I expected more.

Ryan S.

Yelp
My wife and I were very excited to try this place, but ended up incredibly disappointed. We were sat right away, but waited quite a bit for our server. When we did finally meet him, he seemed like he was in a hurry and came off kind of rude. We decided to order two appetizers, the zucchini blossoms and the stuffed mushroom. The fact that they came out literally within two minutes of ordering them should have been a bad sign in and of itself. The mushroom was bland and watery. The zucchini blossoms were cold and chewy. Bleh. Also, the bread they brought out was good but it was burn. My wife ordered the pappardale. It was way overcooked so the noodles were incredibly chewy and mushy. She felt like it was old pasta that had been microwaved before being served. The sauce was also bland. I ordered the chicken parm. The breading on the chicken was also mushy and the cheese melted on top of it was overpowering. The side of spaghetti that came with it was fine. We also shared a side of potatoes that were ok. We skipped dessert because we just wanted to leave after the crappy meal. We both feel like we wasted $200. Won't come back and don't recommend. Last thing: The bathroom is a "single seater," so if someone is in it, you have to wait. I was waiting, and then heard the toilet flush and the door flung open. Did not hear the sound of the sink - it would have been audible. An employee came out and rushed back to the kitchen. I think that probably means he didn't wash his hands after urinating. Just one more reason not to come back.

Yelp
Very good Italian restaurant in heart of Gaslamp. It was early so restaurant wasn't full & streets weren't rocking. My husband had salmon he said was a bit overdone but he likes his fused cooked. I had ravioli which was good. Bread was delicious. Good wine selection & cocktails were good too. Could taste alcohol which is important. Indoor & outdoor seating options.
google avatar

Kristin R.

Yelp
Food was mediocre. Tried the pizza margherita and it was more like a cheese pizza with a singular big basil leaf on top. Considering the typical style for a margherita pizza, this looked and tasted like a cheese pizza from Chuck-E-Cheese or even from a school cafeteria. We also ordered a filet and boneless ribeye, being $50 each. Sad to say that it tasted no better than a Denny's steak. Kind of wished I just made my own. Furthermore, the hygiene is horrible inside the restaurant. Got seated next to an overwhelming amount of dust next to a window seat, asked to changed tables, and the next table smelled like the downtown streets of piss. Surprisingly, I would have found it to be more hygienic being seated outside. At least we ended the evening with a decent tiramisu.

Yelp
Cute little restaurant to eat at while in town for a conference. With a reservation, they were easily able to take an 8 person party day of which was very convenient. Their pizza portion sizes aren't too large so you don't have to worry about carrying leftovers as you head out to see the rest of the town, but the pasta is large portions. The restaurant is very homey with that Tuscan vibe.

Yelp
Very sub par Italian place. Food was 6/10 & service was terrible.... Only saw our server 2 times. Had to wave down someone to get us the check, which they didn't even let us look at it, rather just told us the total and asked us to tip. Do not recommend sitting outside... a lot of bums walking around.. much better places in the same area. Had high hopes but was sadly let down.

Yelp
My daughter and Son in law gifted us a gift card for Osteria Panevino, and we were in town for concert. Made a reservation, and got right in. Service was amazing, and ambiance was perfect. We sat out on outside patio, and was perfect. Was still a little chilly for an April evening, but had heat warmers that made it quite comfortable. I had the lobster linguine, and it was absolutely delicious. Portion was large, and could have been shared. Everyone in party enjoyed their meal. It was a great dining experience, and will definitely be back!

Yelp
I came here last night for restaurant week as I went to it last time for restaurant week and it was AMAZING. this time however was disappointing. I won't change my 5 star review as I hooe it was just a bad night. We were not given the restaurant menus yet again without asking. We sat outside even though it was raining bc the heaters were fantastic and I like sitting outside. My friend and I ordered the same appetizers as last year which was the stuffed mushrooms and the eggplant dish and they were both delicious. However our entrees were sub par. I got the lobster tortellini which was so bland from the sauce to the tortellini. My friend ordered the filet mignon medium rare and it was cooked medium/well done. I told him to return it but he didn't. So 2 disappointing entrees. The tiramisu dessert is some of the best I've had though. Also I really miss the ragu bolengnese. Please bring that back to the menu!!

Yelp
Excellent Italian restaurant in the heart of of San Diego. Some business partners invited me here for dinner last week. I wasn't expecting to eat Italian food in San Diego, but I'm glad I did! Our server was outstanding. He recommended a great red wine. We had the calamari appetizer which was great. I had the filet and it was perfectly cooked. Great setting as well. A great dining room and outdoor seating available. I highly recommend for dinner if you are in the area.

Yelp
Delicious hand made pastas, super fresh and delectable salads. Overall, we had a great experience with very friendly service and cute atmosphere. I would definitely recommend!

Yelp
I was so excited to bring my boyfriend here for his birthday since we saw the "best date night" cheese wheel pasta experience on open table. Food was fun especially the cheese and salami board as an appetizer. Unfortunately, we weren't able to see the cheese wheel pasta be prepared like is normally advertised. This was also lacking in cheesiness. The service was however shockingly unfortunate. We look young but sensed some judgement from our waiter. It was clear that he was giving more and better attention to older guests. It took us 2 hours to get all our food while the maximum time we could be there was listed at 1 hour and 15 min. At one point, we were sitting with empty drinks and no one helping us for 30 min. The bussers and cooking staff were more attentive and kind than our own waiter. Pretty disappointed with service tonight.

Yelp
One of the oldest restaurants in the Gaslamp district. The food is sooo good. We sat outside on the patio. There is a lot going on but really nice ambiance. The street is blocked to traffic so no car noise, smell or disruption. The bread is amazing. It comes warm with butter and is soft inside with a perfect crust outside. We had fettuccine Alfredo, shrimp Caesar salad, a rib eye and lasagna. Everything was on point. The kids loved it. My hubby loved his steak. My son and I shared the lasagna to which I only had a few bites since he liked it so much. I forgot to take a photo before but you can see that nothing was left. Great dish! Location is right on 5th street and walking distance to most hotels in the area.

Yelp
Osteria is the oldest restaurant in Gaslamp Quarter! We were seated inside and the decor has an antique vibe with pretty string lights inside. We were brought complimentary fresh bread, vinegar, and olive oil to start with. The bread was soft and fresh! For drinks, I asked for a mocktail and my friend ordered a martini. We shared the zucchini blossoms and the mussels and clams appetizers. The zucchini blossoms were nice and fat! The mussels and clams came with crostini, which was perfect for dipping the broth. The entrees we got were the mahi mahi special and the cavatelli pasta dish. The mahi mahi was very dry and the rice it came with was mushy, yet hard. The cavatelli tasted better, but lacked a lot of flavor. My friend ended up taking it home and added salt, pepper, etc. For dessert, we went for the New York cheesecake and deconstructed cannoli. The presentation was nice, but we both didn't care for these desserts very much. Service was attentive at first, but once they got busy, they seemed to forget about us. Overall, the food was okay. Maybe I came on an off day....

Yelp
This was my second visit to this place. The server was nice and the portions were huge. The food itself was so-so. This would not be my first choice for Italian in downtown San Diego.
