My family and I booked a reservation at this restaurant to celebrate my cousin's 21st Birthday. It is a BYOB which was perfect for us. We have never been here before, but it's in the area and we pass it all the time, so we decided to give it a try.
We were able to arrive 30 minutes earlier than when they open, which was nice for us to get settled. We were seated at a long table, right in front of the outdoor seating area. There was a drastic temperature difference for half of the table. The ones sitting near the door to outside were chilly, but the people sitting against the wall inside the building were sweating. The waiter we had was very friendly/accommodating.
We ordered two sets of three different appetizers - the Burrata Saporino, Peperoni al Vino, and Polpette. Out of the three appetizers, I would say that my favorite was the Burrata Saporino. The creamy mozzarella on the grilled Italian bread was really delicious. My family thought that the Peperoni al Vino red peppers were WAY too spicy. Finally, in the Polpette, it literally only came with THREE MEATBALLS. The entire appetizer was THREE MEATBALLS for $11.95 ??! I usually like meatballs, but these tasted very unprofessional. My family and I kept saying it tasted "familiar" and then we realized, it tastes as if we went to Giant, picked up a package of meat, made the meatballs homemade with NO SEASONINGS OR FLAVOR. We just weren't big fans.
They also had bread and oil available prior to the meal, and the oil had, I kid you not, ONE SINGULAR PEPPERCORN in the oil, that's it. As if that one peppercorn is going to do anything/provide any significant flavor. Where is the parmesan shavings? The crushed red pepper flakes? The garlic powder?
For Dinner, I ordered the Chicken Parmigiana. It tasted okay, but the chicken was shaped in a square which kind of threw me off. It was very thin and almost felt artificial. My Mom ordered the Veal Saltimbocca and I'm SO THANKFUL I did not order that. My Mom originally tried to get me to order it, and I took one bite of hers and couldn't even finish the one bite. I usually like veal and cheese and white wine sauce, but this just tasted different. Finally, my husband ordered the Seafood Scampi. He said it tasted good, but it was only four pieces of shrimp and four scallops. He said he also expected the dish to come with pasta (which it didn't), and if you order a side of pasta, it is roughly $9. Thankfully my chicken came with pasta which I was not going to eat, so I gave it to him. Another odd thing is that the pasta that came with my meal was just buttered... it did not have any marinara sauce on it (even though I ordered chicken parm).
Lastly, towards the end of the night, since we were sitting right near the door to the outdoor seating (which was open the entire time), we had a bug fly in which was HUGE and parked itself right on the wall near us. It looked like one of those stick/leaf bugs, so gross!
My cousin had a Tiramisu and they sang Happy Birthday to her which was sweet! I'm not sure if she picked that dessert or not (since she is not a coffee fan) but it was nice regardless.
The bathrooms are individual bathrooms and are HUGE, which we were pleasantly surprised about.
My family and I were happy to celebrate my cousin and her Birthday, and we got a lot of nice pictures near the outside of the restaurant, but we were not 100% satisfied with it.
