Ostrería 109

"Come sip a cocktail and listen to vinyl music at this trendy restaurant that is equal parts warm and cozy and industrial chic. Tables at the back of the room are the best, as they front an open window, while the table located just in front of the kitchen is exactly where many want to be. Take a seat and you'll be greeted by four jars of homemade sauces of different intensities and spiciness to accent this cuisine based on the sea. Begin with oysters and chocolate clams, as well as black shrimp aguachile or the winsome tosta de pulpo enamorado, before moving on to main dishes like shrimp with chintextle or arroz a la tumbada. For dessert, strawberries with cream and Pernod ice cream is the perfect finish." - Michelin Inspector

I’m visiting from NYC ( Paulina) and met the wonderful Alexis and Marti. This place has incredible cocktails and oysters with pico de gallo. It was so delicious. The Quetzal cocktail is incredible. What makes it better is the best staff so friendly and kind. Plus they have tiki cups :)

Seafood restaurant with a rustic chic decor. What I liked: - Service was attentive - Plenty of gluten-free options - The complimentary green sauce has a good acidity - The ceviche tostada was decent What could have been better - The texture and the flavor of the tostada was below average - The octopus tostada has the flavor profile of a tuna mayonnaise sandwich, which is quite underwhelming for me - I could feel the jagged edges of the tuna in my mouth and the dish felt under seasoned (we added lemon juice and the green salsa to make it taste better) - The oysters were utterly disappointing. The flavor of the oysters were off-putting and the mignonette was strangely sweet. - Would have preferred if the tostadas came in one instead of 2 pieces per order. Wish I liked the place better, but perhaps I did not order the right dishes.

Ostería 109 was a fun seafood dining experience. You enter into a dining space with white painted exposed brick with an inner atrium with beautiful plants. On the left was both a bar and a DJ area. We tried the Barbie cocktail which had raspberry liquor and was really refreshing. We ordered the oysters, which I did very much enjoy. The shrimp aguachile was bright with citrus and herbaceous notes. The shrimp soup was perfect for the rainy day. The fish of the day was well seasoned and really featured the natural flavors of the fish itself. We also got the seafood rice which was tasty, but I think not the star of the show.

This place is amazing! Delicious food, best salsa I’ve ever had, and wonderful service! The ambience is so nice and they play such great music. By far my favorite restaurant in Mexico City!

Great cocktails, awesome fresh decor (including bathrooms), really good seafood. The restaurant is very new, but has serious potential. Really attentive service, and huge portions!

Really great experience here. You must get their charred Caesar salad. I don’t care for Caesar salads and this was out of this world delicious. My next favorite was ceviche, covered in micro greens with very very soft white fish. Ceviche tends to be chewy at times but this wasn’t it. Then there were shrimps, cut out and charred, naturally sweet and perfectly seasoned. Rice dish reminded me of paella and was generally good but I would skip octopus there as it was chewy and not very flavorful. Strong drinks and attentive service. The place is not cheap with 2 of our dishes being ~500mxn.

Amazing food! This restaurant has a great atmosphere, amazing service, and delicious food. We had the octopus, the grilled shrimp, and the oysters and each dish was perfect. The restaurant makes a variety of their own salsa and hot sauces that are some of the best I’ve had in Mexico City!

Sitting in the restaurant as I am writing this and I am truly unimpressed by the service, atmosphere, and the food. Snobby waiter (guy with glasses) didn’t clear appetizer plates, menus, and it took 40 minutes to get drinks. Our food came out one by one, and the 4 fish meals we ordered were raw or undercooked. We ended up sending the food back and just getting the check. I work in food & beverage service and know how much work and effort goes in to running a restaurant & bar. I have empathize with service workers and have NEVER sent food back and walked out of a meal like that. I can get better food & service at a better price point at Mcdonald’s. Save your money and go to the other AMAZING restaurants and bars that are in surplus in Mexico City.
