Best Irish Pubs in Atlanta | Eater Atlanta

"Formerly Mac McGee’s, O’Sullivans Irish Pub continues to serve classic Irish pub fare on Decatur Square, including bangers and mash, fish and chips, shepherd’s pie, and sides of English peas. The Scotch egg is a must. Head here for pints of Guinness, Carlsberg, Harp, and Irish cider or scotch, Irish whiskey, and bourbon neat or on the rocks. The pub often tunes its TVs to soccer during the week. It’s a great spot to watch Atlanta United games." - Denise K. James

Google
All around GREAT place. In town for 2 days visiting Decatur and Atlanta, and we stumbled upon this place. Sat outside for a delightful lunch. Rueben sandwich, mash potatoes, and the BLT with side salad were all terrific. And the servers/wait staff were friendly and perfect ! Would recommend this place and we would return next time.

Google
Great pub to enjoy a lunch fish and chips, shepherds pie and bangers and mash. We also had some fine caramelized bacon hors d’oeuvre. Nice Irish atmosphere and service. Nice location with quick access to the square.

Had a lunch there, fish and chips which was delicious. Two new beers to sample, both were good. Konig Ludwig Weissbier Kristall and Wiseacre Brewing Tint Bomb.

Stopped here while visiting family in Decatur. Nice pub! Food was great and so were the drinks. Would definitely recommend and would love to visit again when we come back to town.

O’Sullivans is one of those places you just keep coming back to. The food is always amazing — from the crispy fish & chips and creamy Mac and cheese to the creative themed nights. The staff is super friendly, quick, and really on top of everything, making sure you’re taken care of the whole time. The vibe is cozy and relaxed, with a great whiskey selection and rotating craft beers that make it easy to settle in and enjoy. Whether it’s for a quick bite or a fun night out, O’Sullivans never misses.

Google
Disappointing experience with misleading pricing and poor customer service. This restaurant has long had daily happy hour specials clearly listed on a two-sided chalkboard. Friday has always been fish and chips. That same board, with the prices still written on it, was propped up in the open doorway today, fully visible from our table. I even took a picture of it sitting right there in the entryway, uncovered, not crossed out, not moved out of view from the entrance. When the bill came, we were charged full price. The server said the new management isn’t honoring happy hour specials anymore and claimed that because the sign wasn’t outside, the price didn’t apply. When I asked for the manager, they repeated the same thing and refused to honor the posted price. If you’re no longer offering the specials, take the sign down, or at the very least, don’t leave it prominently displayed where customers can reasonably expect those prices to still be valid. It’s disappointing to see a long-standing, neighborhood spot handle something so basic with so little integrity.

The only flavor from the scotch egg was the burnt exterior, and the egg itself came out super hard boiled. Quite disappointed they were willing to serve this, but luckily they took it off the bill.

The bartender Haley was amazing. Service with a smile! I was told to see her for her old fashion. It did not disappoint! Biggest take away from experience was her engagement with all patrons. Very attentive and passionate about her craft and her work. I’ll definitely make Osullivans a frequent when she is behind the bar!

Yelp
4.8/5 I've been here for lunch a few times. I am so happy I decided to take a chance on this place. I am never looking for a big meal so I opt for the kids meal. It's a decent sized portion for me, so it is definitely filling for a child. The server is always so nice and the food comes out in about 10 mins usually. The chicken tenders and fries are my dav. The fries have this delicious mix on them that's so addictive. As for the grilled cheese, I wouldn't get it again. The cheese is veryyyy thick, I couldn't finish the second side. Overall, I'll continue to come back for my usual, one day I'll try the fish and chips.

Yelp
Conveniently located on the square with paid street parking on any perimeter - fairly priced unless parking in a private lot. Immediately greeted by Keith with water and pleasantries. The menu is a QR code, pretty limited menu, priced about 20 an entree, slight discrepancies in actual price. (Ex fish and chips menu said 17, charged 20). Limited menu items are written above bar and daily specials are on signage outside and on menu. To preface, we went two days in a row. Food and drink were surprisingly elevated. The first day I got fish and chips. The fries were the best - thick cut brown fries with herbs and oil - maybe a slight truffle. The fish was a huge crispy cod - fried nicely on the outside, inside a buttery cod with a house made tartar showcasing dill and lemon. Great proportion - too much really. Second day I got a burger and pint. Again- exactly described with elevation. Toasted bun, seasoned, made to order patty - excellent. I heard a guy at the bar mention the shepherd pie was the best he's ever had. Many patrons seemed to be regular and knew each other by name, different walks of people - business - creatives. Easy place to work during lunch. Fine to bring kids. Great place.

Yelp
We ended up here for some good beer and dinner. Great Irish Pub, plenty of seats and tables. I started off with a Red Ale, tasted great and cold. Dinner I went with old faithful Fish & Chips. Started off with a huge pretzel with Mustard and beer cheese sauce. Everything was great, would return.

Yelp
Stopped in for a drink and they didn't have half the stuff we asked for. Ordered food and they only brought half of it out, we then had to wait 20 minutes for the other half to come out. Since they were out of half the beers we wanted we tried a mule since it was on special and a margarita.... Big mistakes. I know it's a pub and they aren't known for mixed drinks but these two drinks both tasted the same like they had given us salt water with a splash of tequila. Bartender was extremely rude when we politely told her we couldn't drink them. Was very disappointing. Only positive is that their fries were good and they came with a good sauce.

Yelp
We love this place! While it seems like a pub with loud music and tvs showing sports, it is SUPER KID FRIENDLY!! The food menu has such great options to share like the giant pretzel with beer cheese and mustard dipping sauces to Scottish eggs. My favorite are the curry chips. The chips are fried to perfection in skinny wedges and topped with delicious curry sauce. YUMMY!!! I actually order this and a side salad and am good to go! The fish and chips entree is a perfect size for a hungry adult. The fish is fresh and flaky with a crisp outer crust. The chips are like the curry ones without the sauce. The house salad (and size salad) are worth talking about because they have beets and some other items on it which make it so much more than a boring house salad. I like the dressing options as well. My kids love the kids' burger which is plenty big for a "big kid". As far as drinks, they have a full bar and tons of beer on tap and in cans/bottles. No, they do not have unsweet tea so don't ask for it. They have soft drinks too. They offer daily specials so take a look. Oh they have indoor and outdoor seating too. It faces the Decatur Square so my favorite thing to do is order food to go for my kids and I and then setup on a blanket by the football (aka soccer) nets and eat/drink and watch my kids play with other locals. The kids who play on Triumph Youth Soccer love being patrons here and running into their teammates and coaches.

Yelp
The ambience is great. Drinks are good but the selection of premium Irish whisky is limited. The food is good but not especially praiseworthy.

Yelp
Good service and selections of Irish food. The beer and cocktails offered complimented the food perfectly. Loved my server's Irish accent and pleasant demeanor. The Scotch egg was as good as my Yelpmates mentioned. I also enjoyed the candied bacon knots and fries with mustard like dipping sauce. The Tuscan salmon house special was a treat. It was served with brown rice in a bowl and had ample vine tomatoes, spinach in a flavorful sauce. I was thoroughly impressed with how the flavors resonated. Drinks were good too, as we drank Black and Tans. The atmosphere was pleasant too and welcoming to all groups including couples, families coming from the Capoiera studio and groups of varying sizes. The restaurant is also in proximity to the transit, which allows for options other than driving.

Yelp
We've stopped here a few times for a pint of Guinness and have always had a great experience sitting at the bar. We decided to come in to get some food on a rainy Saturday night. There's not much seating inside so that could be an issue if it's a busy night. The service was great as usual. We got the Scotch egg, fish and chips, and seasonal vegetables (Brussels sprouts and tomatoes). The vegetables were waaaay over salted for my liking. The other dishes were fine. I'd prefer to eat at some of the other excellent restaurants in the area and reserve a visit to O'Sullivans for grabbing a perfectly poured Guinness.

Yelp
Excellent Fish & Chips!! Crispy fresh cod and hand cut fries seasoned nicely. Service was superb from Jemma our server. Great atmosphere and friendly folks.

Yelp
This was previously known as Mac McGee Irish Pub. We spent a while looking for that as it was recommended by one of the bartenders downtown. We may have gone there at an off time. But it was not at all crowded and very nice to relax and get a drink. The guy who helped us was Irish himself which we liked. It's known for its bourbon and scotch collection and did not disappoint. I don't drink either so I stuck to my Moscow mule which was pretty decent. The Decatur square is a nice place to hang out but does have homeless people as it gets late at night. The train station is right there.

Yelp
Was on an afternoon walk. On a perfect Saturday. Came in for a refreshing beverage. The server Brooke was so pleasant and delightful. Will be back.

Yelp
First of all the place has a great authentic pub atmosphere. Prices on the menu seem a bit overpriced for lunch foods. Would love to tell you how their food was but alas we never received our food. Arrived for lunch with just a few other people in the restaurant. Placed our simple two sandwiches with a side of fries order. And waited and waited and waited. After 30 minutes we asked our waitress about our food to get a snarky reply that the restaurant was busy and they were short-staffed in the kitchen. I'm sure that was true but being tables that had sat down after us had already gotten their food, it wasn't the answer. 45 minutes after placing our order with still no food and no answer we got up and left. Will not be going back.

Yelp
Best fish n Chips in town! That being said... the prices on the website are $2.50-3.00 more than on the menu in house. If you are on-line searching. It might be misleading and they won't even meet you halfway on the pricing. Very disappointing and someone needs to update the website. $14.50 to $17.00 is quite a hike. Though it was great. I also think their beers are shamefully overpriced, but hey... that's just me. Did I mention the fish n chips are the best in town? Cheers!

Yelp
Very casual, warm and welcoming place on a cold day. Definitely a place to watch a soccer game. We didn't eat, but we had great service, very friendly bartender with an Irish accent, I mean, what else do you expect at an Irish Pub?

Yelp
Best Guinness in Atlanta Area! Pints are poured to perfection. Order the fish and chips. You will not be disappointed. Great Rueben as well. Weekly specials that are creative and tasty.

Yelp
So sososososoossosoos good. Cauliflower and fish and chips are hard to beat. My boyfriend had the butger and like it a lot. The fries are crunchy and have this herb sauce on them. 100000000/10
