O'Sullivan's Irish Pub Escondido

A good small Irish pub. Arrived on a Saturday morning at 11am. I had the all day Irish breakfast which was good. A little pricey at $25 but everywhere has gone up. My girlfriend had the curried fries and the curry sauce was great. The Bartender didn't know what a Guinness and black was and they had no liquid lime juice for a in style lager and lime. Overall it is what you would expect from an Irish bar. Probably busy when they have a band on.

Great place to go with my gf. We had some drinks and shared some food. Some musicians came and played live music, that atmosphere was great and the food was awesome. Can't wait to come back!

My husband and I are planning a trip to Ireland in a few months and I wanted to try a Boxty before our trip to get an idea what it was. I also wanted to be able to have something to compare it with. It did NOT disappoint!! We showed up on a trivia night and was still able to manage to get a table. The atmosphere due to the staff was fun and lively. I only wish I was a local, I would definitely be a regular there!

I do love this bar. Food is pretty good. Seafood Boxty is rich but a treat for sure. Live bands are a plus. Trivia night on Wednesday to mix things up. I will say the tab adds up pretty darn fast here. 4 of us went for a few drinks. It's was over $200 😳. I miss going to the bars and not leaving broke. Those were the good old days!!

Fish n Chips were soft soggy outside. Very dissatisfied. Chips were nothing but frozen steak fries. Coleslaw has pineapple in it. Not a fan. 3 of us on the patio. No other customers. Had to ask for water refills. Food service was quick but probably because it was prepared ahead of time.

Lively little Irish pub with excellent service and an Irish duo performance on a Sunday night! Food was okay, not great. But that's Irish food, isn't it?

We went here while visiting California a few months back. After a terrible experience at the pub across the street and being starving, we went to the only place nearby that wasn’t fast food that still had kitchen service (we called before we hopped over). Even so, the first thing the guy checking IDs told us was “kitchen closes at 11.” That’s exactly what needs to happen! We were already sold. The atmosphere inside was great, ordered some pub fare and had some beers. The potato skins were fresh and we enjoyed the fish and chips. Service was fantastic. I would recommend this place!

Recently went in to this bar, used to be our favorite place to go with an authentic Irish bartender. Now that the main bartender is no longer there, the whole feel of this place has gone downhill. Now it's just another average bar....its amazing how much one person can truly make a place and experience

Super fun Irish Pub on Grand! We wanted to continue the night so we moved the party over here. We sat in their back patio which was nice & cozy. Service was great & friendly. They serve a variety of traditional Irish dishes such as Corned Beef & Cabbage & Bangers & Mash. They have soups, salads, seafood, steaks, sandwiches & more, something for everyone! Their Corned Beef Mac N' Cheese was my absolute favorite & I highly recommend you try it too. Delicious & strong drinks. They had live music when we came & I am super excited to come back when they have trivia on Wednesdays.

The atmosphere was warm as was the ambience. The staff was friendly and welcoming, and knowledgeable of the menu. The food was amazing and the portions good sized! I had the fish and chips - the fish was tender and hot; the accompanying steak fries were good and huge in quantity. The coleslaw was the best I had ever tasted!! My wife had the macaroni and corn beef; very tasty and a large potion of corn beef mixed in with the macaroni. Our beers had great pours. I highly recommend the mom and pops place!

This isn't an Irish pub. We ordered a round of Guinness pints and they were poured wrong. We ordered a plate of bangers and mash and it was nothing of the sort you would get back in Ireland. The worst bangers and mash ever. I switched to IPAs because the Guinness was poured so poorly. The prices were astronomically high for who knows what. A friend said they have new owners. I was here years ago and wasn't so disappointed. I just started laughing when I was in the bathroom and looked up and saw scotch bottle boxes. Scotland =/= Ireland, but maybe the clientele here are a bunch of langers. @o'sullivan's sort yourself out ya eejits

Fun atmosphere with live music on the weekends. Great place to grab a Guinness or shots and hang out with friends. Right in the heart of Grand Ave so it's a great area to bar/restaurant hop!

Dropped in for food at a pub I know I had one beer only lol but it's good dive bar got there a little early dropped in last week for a couple beers as well both nights where chill and a wide range of alcohol and food and live music certain nights

Consistently tasty food and friendly people. We're lucky to have so many great choices in Escondido, and these folks are among the best.

Oh man. The food was so good at this place. Service was good too, they weren't very busy so we got plenty of attention. Why low stars? Eh... the place is dingy, the bathroom was DIRTY and when I turned on the light in the RR a roach scurried away. The Great - The food was so good The Good - The drink prices were excellent! The Bad - The place is dingy which just makes it feel dirty The Ugly - The super dirty floors and walls in the restroom and the cockroach. I know that pests are a challenge for restaurants. Especially when you share walls with other tenants and are in an old building. BUT... although all of this, the floors and walls in the restroom can be cleaned with soap and water. There is no excuse. The roach only drove home the message. I really liked the food, but unfortunately, won't be back.

I've enjoyed going to this location over the years. They have delicious food (I love Shepards pie and Irish stew). The beers are always cold, and what you expect from a pub which makes me very happy. It can get a little busy when there is live music, but totally worth it. It has a great, authentic pub feel as well. There are a few seats out front where you can watch Grand Ave., and there is a patio outback as well. I've had really good luck with the service too. My food always comes out hot and the beer is not, so I take it as a win. For a good time with Irish fare and drinks, this is the place.

St patty's day celebration is a big thing here, of course! Love the live music, always very talented bands. 2 Bartenders on a Friday night and it felt understaffed, being the place was packed. Food looked nice though I didn't try.

Came for lunch and entered thru the back patio. You walk thru their hallway to get to the front of the restaurant. We were able to sit right away and took a couple of minutes for someone to take our order. The service was fairly decent. We didn't wait long for our food and drinks. Curry fries were okay but burger was juicy. The place is small so I can see this place getting loud at full capacity. It's a nice pub for the area and would visit again. 3 1/2 stars but rounding to 4.

Nick is a great host and prepares THE BEST SANDWICHES. Ample quantity at a reasonable price. I come every Friday to have a good meal and look at all the cars during Cruzin Grand.

O'Sullivans is one of our go-to spots in Escondido when we want a drink and a great, hearty meal! The service is great even when they're busy, and it's got the Irish pub ambience you know and love. We especially love that we can bring our pup onto the front or back patio! Slainte!

Came in for Saturday brunch. Our waiter, Samuel, was friendly and attentive. Nice 70's music playing, not too loudly, it brought back fond memories. The keoke coffee was delicious! Ordered the traditional Irish breakfast and the breakfast boxty. Huge portions-you definitely can share a plate. Both came with brown bread and their cheesy potatoes. Both were decent. The boxty was absolutely delicious! They used high quality meats with thicker slices. My son enjoyed the bacon and sausage most. Beans were good.

Note: do not open until noon! Sat at the bar & had great service! They have apple & pear cider on draft (16 or 20 oz). Lots of local beers & an impressive # of single-malt scotch! Went for lunch on a HOT day so enjoyed a cider. They have a regular menu & a bar menu; check them both out! The scotch eggs were awesome! The thick cut fries w/ curry dipping sauce were addictive (why do ranch drag? AND, haven't I thot of curry w/ them?!?) service was amazing! Lots of REAL IRISH menu items you don't see at every Irish pub in the US! Really cool bar!

Great food, friendly staff. Go for brunch on Saturday or Sunday, $10 bottle of Champagne Steak Benedict with cheese potatoes, so good

Very disappointed. Not much meat, soggy, waitress not very happy to be waiting on me and for $22.00 could almost buy a whole corned beef at Vons. From not on, make one in crock pot. Best corned beef I ever ate was in Las Vegas. Service was poor. Watress cound't care less whether she waited on me or not.

One of our fav places. Great service, great cold beers, and we tried the chicken egg rolls this time. They are really good! Will get them again!

I've only eaten here in person a handful of times and they are usually busy, so service is slow. But, the staff are friendly still and the food is DELICIOUS!! I've had different meals or have had bites of my peep's meals and really, you can't go with anything wrong on the menu here. The fish and chips, the shepherds pie, and our favorite the corn beef boxy, is amazing!!! Quantity of the meals are big so sharing is advised but even if you don't, you'll have leftovers for other meals in your day. Win win! Next time we order food, I'll need to take pics to share on here but for now, take my word that this is a good place to eat. They also have dancing and live music on the weekends but I haven't been to that - I sorta hate being around people since Covid. Ha! But I'll leave that to my therapist! Good beer and alcohol choices here too! Parking is available out back or sometimes in front on the main grand ave street but if you go around dinner time; it'll harder to find parking. Decent prices too!

This is a cool little local hangout on Grand. You can tell that people come in to watch the game, or meet up with friends. It gets super busy when they're doing Cruisin Grand, because it's right in the middle of the action. I've been coming here for years, and it hasn't changed that much. Staff is friendly, if a bit overworked at times. It definitely looks like an Irish pub, and they now have the expanded outdoor seating. The food is really good. My go-tos are the potato soup, and fish & chips. I've also had the Boxty, which is fairly unusual. My friend tried the Guiness beef stew, and enjoyed it. I also like the Irish Benedict, when I come for brunch. The one thing I didn't care for was the Shepherd's Pie. This was a while ago, so hopefully it's improved. I make it myself, so I tend to be picky. It seemed like they were using tinned beef to make it perhaps. That is like corned beef, with the texture of cat food, so no thanks. Definitely give the pub a try, when you're in the area. Parking is a little easier on Grand, with the new slanted spots.

Love this place! There is live music on certain days and the food does not disappoint. Authentic Irish food. I had their Sheppard's pie and had to order another one because it was so good my husband ate half of it. I also think that everything is reasonably priced. Parking can be hard to find seeing as how it is located on Grand within Escondido. When there is Crousin Grand in Escondido you will more than likely have to park several blocks away. The staff is always very nice and accommodating. Even when they are packed the food comes out in a timely manner. We will be back time and time again.

Love this place! A huge variety of yummy food! Great salads, burgers, grilled salmon dinner, patty melt, soups and more!! They have weekly drink specials. Large screen TV's all around the bar! You name the sport it is on!! Local flavor-with families, friends and sports lovers!!! You will see all ages.

Nice staff, decent service, food is a bit pricey. Corned Beef is tough and low quality. The place is small but has a nice bar. Security guard at front door was very nice and welcoming. Music provided around 8pm however not completely traditional Irish, but enjoyable. Restrooms are clean and maintained. Outdoor seating in back. Not a fan of animals in restaurants. Management/Owner please have the back cushions in booths cleaned or replaced, very filthy. Overall, we enjoyed our evening and maybe return.

Great little Irish that has Irish Beer and authentic Irish food. The bartender is friendly and is a true asset to the vibe they are creating around a friendly Irish bar with great food. Highly recommend as you enjoy Escondido.

When one goes to an Irish pub on St Patrick's day, you would expect it to be crowded, especially after the band we had just seen recommended it to a couple of hundred people. Being able to walk in at 9pm and the place was less than half full should have been my first clue to turn around. The shortness and rude attitude of our waitress should have been the second. We asked for fries and was told they closed the kitchen at 9. It was 9:01. . I will say the one positive was the beer was a perfect pour and they had a good scotch selection. The lack of service from there and seeing the barely eaten food from the tables on both sides of me tells me that I may have been better off not eating there. After paying, we exited by the kitchen and saw a fresh order of fries had just been made for someone else, 9:20pm. According to the person I was with this place used to be great, now it seems it would probably be better if it closed and a place that valued its customers, had clean tables, flexed 1 minute for an order of fries took its place.

Great experience. Due to the massive construction taking place on the street, with Google taking us in circles, it took us quite awhile to navigate through detours and by pure Irish luck we found the pot of gold at O'Sullivan's. Walking in, the vibes were great. We could tell we were at a local hangout (East Countyers), but nobody seemed to care. There was a duet playing traditional Irish music which totally added to the atmosphere. Due to the live music, all the tables were taken and it was apparent that those at the tables were planning to stay until the music was done. We sat at the bar. The bartender was having a 'situation' with the soda water and quickly explained the situation and told us she had to disappear for a few minutes. No problem, once we ordered, the Fish and Chips soon arrived and we devoured them. Didn't care for the cole slaw, but that was on me. We'll be back next time we're passing through Escondido.

Great home town vibe , girl at bar went out of her way to get game on Tv. Food was good portion size was large. 10 Doller bottle of champagne. Definitely would try again .

Milan the bartender was wonderful! We had an amazing time with excellent service. The Halloween themed October cocktails were worth trying every one. And they clearly put in the effort for the fun Halloween decor.

O'Sullivans is our go-to local pub for a pint, a bite to eat, authentic live music, or some St. Patrick's day shenanigans! Service is always top notch. The food is tasty, great variety for both lunch and dinner. They have a decent happy hour too. Patios are pup friendly which we love! Try the lobster bisque, it's fantastic...huge lobster chunks! The fish and chips, Rueben and potato skins are always winners. The corned beef quesadilla is good too, great price during happy hour! If you haven't been to check out their live music nights, definitely add it to your list! It's a fun lively pub!

Stopped by on a Friday. The corned beef and cabbage is to die for! The ambiance was lively And the live band was wonderful.

Stopped in with friends to have some Jamison shots at the bar on Friday night. When we told the rude bartender our intentions he said wait the hostess will seat you. We just wanted bar service. He didn't want to serve us & when the waitress walked past she pushed one of party out of her way without a simple excuse me. We left, never to return. Don't waste your time going here.

I would like to start out by saying that my husband and I had been loyal customers for both locations (Carlsbad, too) until that one closed for good. We visit the Esco location once a month or more for dinner and drinks. Last night, we went to celebrate my husband's retirement by having sliders and a beer. We ordered our drinks and then noticed a big change in the food menu. No sliders!! The explanation we were given just didn't make any sense. Sure, we get having to cut the menu down...but cut out the bar staple of sliders? So, for the first time ever, we left without ordering food and headed over to Burger Bench. I do feel for O'Sullivan's and the other businesses in that the construction on Grand is taking FOREVER which must be hurting all of them. We'll keep coming to the Grand establishments, despite this long-term inconvenience. Oh, another thing I noticed. The women's bathroom usually smells clean, but this time there was the strong odor of urine. Very unexpected. O'Sullivan's, please bring back the sliders!

I've had about half the menu and never disappointed. My wife is crazy for the corned beef Mac n cheese. Onion rings are great as well. Can't go wrong with anything on the menu.

Legit Monday night wings special for just 70 cents each! Son and I tried both the Buffalo and Jack Daniels varieties. The JD was not as sweet as teriyaki but with a little whisky twist. Buffalo was not too spicy or soggy. All were good sized and not overly greasy. Shared some tots to make it a meal. Excellent service from Valerie. Recommend!

Came here with family and friends for brunch The crowd was small and the waiter and bar tinder was fun. We had the lobster bisque, potato soup, and the sampler. Food was good, the potato soup with cheese was a bit bland. I would recommend this place for good Irish food and atmosphere.

I popped in for some drinks at the bar. I also ordered the shepherd's pie and the beef stew for take out. Both were delicious and hearty. Makes you want to come back for more. The beef stew and shepherd's pie is a few dollars less on special mon- Fri 3-6pm. The recipes are close to what I recall eating in Ireland.

Friendly pub, good food especially the corned beef quesadillas. We usually go early because even though the live music is great the conversation is harder.

We loved the brunch! Quick efficient service and it is CLEAR the locals are known and revered. Irish Breakfast was a hot. Hubby loved every bite , especially delicious rasher. My favorite was the Irish eggs Benedict. Perfect size portion and great mix of potatoes. Didn't go for the mimosas (next time) though locals all ordered them. I had Bloody Mary and it was perfect. You don't need reservations early in the am but when the music starts pm it's a good idea.

We brought our classic ride out to Cruising Grand and decided to check the pub out. Honestly, the ambience was on point, great seating, and live music. We sat outside on their patio and waited for service.....and it never came. The security guard was nice and asked if we had been served, when we said no he sent over a server. By this time we had been here 15 minutes. The server asked if she could bring us drinks, we didn't have any menus so we asked to see what they had. Five minutes later, she brings a menu, 10 minutes later after that and she still hadn't come back. I decided it would be faster to go to the bar, I order 2 beers, one for my pops and one for me. As I'm walking back towards my seat, our waiter comes up to me and asks "can I get you something?" I said no, and walked back to my seat. She got upset and stormed off to the security guard. A guy sitting next to me did the same thing and she got even more upset! Then that same customer asked for a menu and she responded with " do you need something?" She was rude, upset, angry, and overwhelmed. Not sure why, I meant no harm in going up to the bar and ordering myself. Here's a pic of the girl

Went here a couple weeks ago super excited for a cozy atmosphere, corned beef, and drinks. Left pretty disappointed. Food was overpriced and just okay. The air conditioner was also on so cold that the nighttime December air was warmer than it was inside and my food went completely cold in literally 3 minutes. Everyone complained around us and staff ignored it or offered outdoor seating. Only upside was that the place is cute during Christmas time.
