I’ve been to both Oswego Grill locations (Wilsonville and Lake Oswego) and the overall vibe is similar — slightly upscale but a little outdated, with dim lighting that’s perfect for a romantic or intimate evening. Of the two, I’ve had the better experiences at the Lake Oswego location.
We’re a family that loves to celebrate with good food in a nice setting, especially for birthdays. We’re usually a party of 11 (all adults, so no kids’ menu!), and my niece especially loves their Double Chocolate Stout Brownie — rich, decadent, and a must-try.
Appetizers: Our favorites are the Salt & Pepper Calamari (crispy, flavorful, perfectly cooked) and the Fresh Seared Sesame Ahi (beautifully plated and delicious).
Burgers: The Oswego Grill Burger is my top burger choice here — fresh, flavorful, cooked well, and served with fresh veggies. I’d rate it about a 6.5/10 overall compared to other places I’ve tried.
Steaks: I’m a big steak lover and have tried almost all their cuts except the Bone-In Ribeye. Quality is good (7/10) with decent flavor (7/10). They’re cooked to temperature (I prefer medium-rare or rare), but they don’t quite have that “melt-in-your-mouth” wow factor. Sides are simple — nothing too creative like truffle mashed potatoes or unique vegetable dishes.
The Star of the Show: The Stuffed Chicken Breast — provolone and mozzarella, fresh spinach, and that amazing caper cream sauce. Every bite is flavorful and perfectly balanced. I give it an 8.5/10 and it’s now my go-to order.
Service: This is where I feel Oswego Grill could improve. I’ve worked in and around the restaurant industry through family and friends in high-end dining, so I know how much great service can elevate an experience. The welcome is great — you’re greeted warmly and seated promptly. Drinks start flowing quickly. But the “in-between” often falls short:
Drink refills don’t happen consistently without asking.
Check-ins on how the meal is going aren’t always there.
Dessert menus aren’t always offered at the right time.
Clearing finished plates could be more prompt.
Over the 25+ visits I’ve had here in the past 3 years, this has been consistent. I’d rate service at 7/10 — good, but not quite what you’d expect from a place considered upscale.
Bottom Line: If you want a nice dinner out with family or friends, Oswego Grill Lake Oswego delivers solid food in a pleasant setting. But if you’re looking for that “red carpet” level of service for the price, you might want to explore other options.
