Otafuku Noodle House Review - Gardena - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"Otafuku is a quaint, family-run Japanese restaurant that treats soba noodles like science. The three kinds of soba here vary in texture, size, and taste, but all are made in-house daily with special flour imported from Japan. We prefer the all-white seiro, best ordered chilled on a bamboo mat with dipping sauce and a choice of crispy tempura. It’s simple, fresh, and exactly what we want during a heat wave. The lunch menu includes Otafuku's greatest hits (order the spanish mackerel bowl), but during dinner, the kitchen also serves excellent yakitori and sashimi, too." - Garrett Snyder

OVERALL 4 Solid oden shop, but a bit pricy. Overall very delicious and I would return in the winter. FOOD 4 We ordered the 2,800/person deal times 3 people. We received a pot filled with boiled daikon, carrot, konnyaku, egg, rolled cabbage, ganmo doki, tofu, etc. Some pieces I could cut with the ladle so we could all share and taste a little bit, because otherwise, we’d get full eating en entire triangle of konnyaku. The 110 year old soup recipe is very yummy. Gyuudon with stewed beef was excellent. SERVICE 4 We were seated in a private room on the 2nd floor. Decent service. Our waiter seemed inexperienced and spilled a dish of pickles (he didn’t know what to do), but otherwise, no major issues. ATMOSPHERE 4 The downstairs is filled with decorations, and the spout on the handwashing sink is very cute.

Saw this spot on TV and found decent reviews online so decided to come the other day. Maybe the worst oden I’ve ever had at a shop. Dashi was lukewarm with 0 depth, ingredients were terrible (all nerimomo were soggy and starch heavy), the cabbage roll was particularly disgusting with layers and layers of stale cabbage. Even 7/11 can do better oden than this. Absolute disappointment. The only good thing about this restaurant is the cute oden themed bathrooms.

One of the best oden places in Tokyo. I got course menu, my parents loved it. Recommend it for those who are looking for something that is not too big or heavy.

This place is walking distance from the Senso-ji. We were seated on the second floor’s “oden bar”. Quite a bit of variety of oden to choose from. We ordered a variety of oden and I liked turnip, shrimp bomb and the deep fried tofu punch the most. The yellow mustard is a must and goes well with oden. The soup is light and quite tasty. Overall quite good oden but can’t say it’s the best.

Perfect rainy weather food! Walking out of the rain to the most friendly front of house staff and being seated in front of a delicious hotpot has been a highlight of my trip so far. Calling the service fast and friendly is an understatement, plus the history behind the restaurant is very unique and fascinating. Treat yourself and don't miss out on an opportunity to eat here!

Great place for some high end Oden. we ordered the set for 2 people which has about 20 pieces. The menu is extensive which also includes tempura/sashimi/rice/noodle items. Has english menu. We had a private room which was nice. Booked online. Nevertheless, this place a a little inconvenient as not near the subway. Quite a walk away from Asakusa Sensoji.

I was hoping to come here for a while after reading about how this restaurant has been using the same broth since 1945. The restaurant definitely takes a lot of pride in it’s history but is still unpretentious. I’ve never had oden before but this was a great first time! All the staff here were very welcoming and helpful during my dinner. Everything I got tasted good although it was a bit pricy so I wouldn’t recommend coming here on a completely empty stomach. I especially liked the oden noodles and cabbbage dumpling. The pudding dessert was absolutely delicious!!

Situated in the historic Naniwa Sennichimae district, Otafuku stands as a timeless beacon of culinary excellence. Steeped in tradition since its establishment in 1912 as Asakusa Oden Otafuku, this revered establishment has weathered the storms of time, preserving its legacy with unwavering dedication. During our recent visit, my wife and I were fortunate to sample the remnants of their winter seasonal menu, an experience that left an indelible mark on our palates. The Oden, a masterpiece of simplicity and sophistication, featured an array of ingredients including taro, radish, shiitake mushrooms, and more, all simmered to perfection in a rich broth. The Crab kamaboko oden, a standout from the seasonal offerings, delighted with its exquisite flavor and delicate texture. In addition to the culinary delights, the restaurant's rich history adds an extra layer of charm to the dining experience. As descendants of generations past continue the tradition, there's a sense of continuity and reverence that permeates every aspect of Otafuku. With each bite, it's evident that Otafuku isn't just a restaurant—it's a living testament to the enduring power of culinary craftsmanship and familial legacy. As we departed, we couldn't help but feel a profound sense of gratitude for the opportunity to partake in this time-honored tradition. Otafuku has earned not only our patronage but also our heartfelt admiration and respect.

Yelp
Way out there in Asakusa is Otafuku which serves oden over a heated copper pot. The oden here is incredible, but be aware you probably will be surrounded with smoke as people like to drink and smoke cigarettes here later in the evening. There is an English menu here which resembles the Japanese menu.

Yelp
Interesting experience. Oden pot for one person is 2500 yen. Octopus feet is really tender and worth a try.
