Otherland

Specialist bookshops are precious things, and Otherland is no exception. The shop stocks a mix of new and secondhand SF, fantasy, horror and other related works of genre fiction in both English and German. There are plenty of classics, but perhaps more importantly you'll also find a thoughtful collection of less well known works, often in beautiful editions. The staff are always been helpful and friendly, and their monthly book club is a wonderful and much anticipated community event.

Slightly claustrophobic place, but has a good selection of new books. Very small section for english language used books, with mainly old 1970-2000 era books. Found the trilogy I was looking for (new books), but unfortunately one of the three books was from a US publisher while the other two were from UK, so I didn't end up buying as the books were annoyingly different size 😔

Great store with Fantasy, Sci-Fi & Horror. Reminds me a lot of Fantask in my home city of Copenhagen. Their English section is great, and they have quite a good but mixed amount of used books. Prices are decent and sometimes a bit lower than market.

Lovely bookshop with so many to choose from, and they even had first editions. The dog was the highlight of my trip and the store owner was fantastic. 😊

Awesome bookshop with fantasy and scifi books. You can also buy second hand books, theres a board for pen and paper dms looking for players aaand the store is doing readings of new published books. The staff is very friendly and know their books! Im a regular customer and love the shop!

Great selection of fantasy, sci-fi and terror books in English. And if they don't have it, they can order it for you! Super nice staff

By far the best and largest modern horror section in any bookshop I've been to in the EU/UK. A very small used horror section with no golden era horror (80s). Huge selection of 70s, 80s, and 90s classic Sci Fi fantasy with some amazing cover art as well as a great selection of new sci fi and fantasy.

beautiful bookstore I am so sorry I am too lame to buy anything--I already mailed away all my heavy stuff so I didn't have to carry it back to the states! They have a good selection of Science Fiction and Fantasy in German, which I cannot comment on being utterly and repulsively monolingual, but they also have a gosh darn pretty big selection of English! Obviously, most of these are British editions, so you might want to stock up the brit version of your favorite reads as well as picking up something new for yourself! I was surprised to not see a few authors, such as Charles De Lint, but there was still plenty of things to tempt a gal! Also big plus, a couple cushioned benches to chill as you try to decide....

Love this place! One of my favorite authors had a new book releasing while we would be in Berlin, and I wanted to get a European edition just to have something different in my collection (plus it was releasing in Europe several weeks before it was coming out in the USA). I emailed him and asked if he had any recommendations for book sellers in Berlin who might get it in, knowing that he'd done events in Berlin, he recommended Otherland and one other. The other was more convenient to our hotel, but they never answered their phone. Otherland was extremely helpful and courteous, and best of all - they got the book in before we left town. This is what a used book store should be: mostly hardbound books everywhere! Comfy chairs where you can sit and read. Decent prices. Sadly this is an endangered breed in the USA. I shall definitely pay them a visit if I get back to Berlin. Lovely neighborhood, lots of great shops. Bit of a walk to the U-Bahn though.
