The Ultimate Guide to Boba in Los Angeles and the San Gabriel Valley

"Taiwan-based Yifang has stores all over the world and is known for using organic sugar, fresh fruits, and tea leaves from Taiwan. The shop’s signature drink is a brown sugar pearl latte, a milky and creamy drink with warm brown sugar boba on the bottom and a brown sugar swirl on top. Yifang’s fruit tea is made with Taiwanese golden pineapple jam, which gives the tea tartness. Yifang’s drinks tend to be on the sweeter side, so make sure to adjust sweetness levels accordingly." - Kristie Hang

Google
OTO Tea stands out above the other tea houses in the SGV with their exotic fruit blends that's not only refreshing and delicious but has added health benefits as well. They have a wide range of teas and what stands out to me is their Fruit Tea, blended with real fruits and natural ingredients You can taste the nourishing and rejuvenating difference when you see the staff expertly makes each drink We had: Mango Pomelo Sago, Mango Pomelo Crystal, OTO Fruit Tea with Crystal, Osmanthus Oolong Latte + Osmanthus Jelly

Google
Former yi fang location that was famous for their fruit tea. The decor is still the same. The flavors are comparable but not high quality. There are no table seating. Take outs only.

Google
Disappointed with the drinks... its got no taste for the boba. And my oolong tea latte was taste like water. The guy that helped us also doesnt understand their products. I asked couple questions regarding their drinks and he doesnt even know how to tell me.

Google
Former Yi-Fang. Menu is basically the same. Drinks are great and love that the customization options were opened up with the renewal!

Google
So creamy and good! I got the kids size crème brûlée boba and it was the perfect size. I recommend it for those who are looking for a drink similar to a grande size at starbucks. The drink was creamy, sweet (but not too sweet), and packed with boba. Absolutely loved it!

Google
This place is okay for their milk teas and fruit teas. It is far from where I live (around 30 mins drive). My friend went and grabbed a couple extra drinks for me to try since they only allow take out orders. If you are a fan of sweet drinks, this place is not for you. The drinks here are more for fatty and less sweet tastes. It has more flavor of the tea leaves as well. I like this fresh tastes of tea leaves in my drinks as it reminds me of the time I transited in Taipei airports and had drinks there. The downsides I see are it is located far from me and I would only have drinks from here once in a while since it is not that very special compared to other milk tea places.

Google
Business background: The master franchised store in California is originally from Taiwan and serves Taiwanese tea drinks and desserts. Signature item: Their signature item is Taiwanese fruit tea, however the flavor and sweetness of the drink are not well balanced. The proportion of fruit slices to other ingredients is too high, making it difficult to enjoy the beverage. Service: The service at this store is just okay - the texture of boba in their drinks is below average compared to other shops nearby. Additionally, cashiers sometimes have difficulty communicating in English, making it hard for customers to make adjustments to their order. Overall, if they can't make their signature item right then they are failing as a business.

Google
They closed down and are remodeling but still have their online ordering up on their website. Took my money and no way of getting a refund back. Totally unprofessional. If you care, contact me and give me back my refund.

Yelp
Got a peach fruit tea with 30% sugar. just the sweetness I wanted. Tea flavor is obvious and peach is fresh. there's about 1/3 of cup peach which i'm quite surprised.

Yelp
It took the place of another boba shop beforehand which makes sense why the structure looks relatively the same. I believe someone mentioned it used to be a YiFang. It's more of a grab and go boba spot with just benches inside. Typical kiosks to self order. I ordered the Avocado mango sago and Osmanthus oolong with osmanthus jelly which were on the menu for popular drinks. Avocado drink was very refreshing. I preferred it over the oolong. The oolong was a bit too light in brew for my personal preference. Sugar levels are a little on the milder side as well.

Yelp
Came here a month ago towards the beginning of June. This place used to be another boba shop (I don't remember the name). I like the cute wall mural and overall coziness of the store. The interior is designed to give off a Japanese vibe. They have two ordering screens on the side for self-service. There are sooo many options to choose from. It was kind of hard to decide because of that lol. I ended up ordering one of their top sellers, the Osmanthus oolong latte + osmanthus jelly, no sugar, no ice. The flavor was great ! I like being able to taste the tea, and the balance between the tea and milk was perfect. The jelly is slightly sweetened, but I didn't mind that. I definitely want to come back and try their other drinks! My mom tried the Brûlée Brown Sugar Pearl Latte and she said it's one of the best boba she's ever had and that says a lot because she's super picky with her boba. I highly recommend checking this place out!!

Yelp
I am the only customer in the store.... I made my ordered and waited almost 15 minutes for my 1 drink. The workers didn't care about prioritizing walk-in or mobile orders. The staff was just slowly making drinks for a big order slowly and neglected all the walk-in orders. No one even took orders, and the workers were just chatting away and checking their phones as more orders piled up. If you are looking for a place to spend 10+ minutes for 1 drink this is the place to go.

Yelp
I'm sure this is almost certainly a reskinned YiFang as many of the drinks are similar if not the same as its predecessor. Regardless, it's a solid place to get some boba, especially with a group of people who have different tastes (as they have milk teas, fruit teas, regular teas, Yakult drinks, hot teas, etc.) We got the: 1) Salty Strawberry Smoothie: -Yummy strawberry smoothie with a salty cheese cap on top. -Refreshing, simple drink. 2) Freshly Squeezed Sugarcane: -My parents love sugarcane, and I got this half sweet as sugarcane is naturally sweetened. -One of the "cheaper" sugarcane options in the area for sure, and at a standard size, not too huge either. 3) Grass Jelly Tea Latte: -I KNEW that the grass jelly would sweeten the tea latte so I got this at half sweet, but even with that level it was very, very sweet. I would have gotten 0 sweet knowing this and I had to dilute it with milk at home to adjust for my taste. 4) Oreo Latte Smoothie: -This is on the kid's menu and it's half the size of a regular drink, but my brother still likes it. -Standard Oreo blended drink with Oreo crumble throughout, whipped cream, and a whole Oreo cookie on top. Sad there's no closer YiFang to me anymore, but this hits the same spot to be quite honest.

Yelp
Stopped by on Saturday, 06/01/24 for the first time. This place used to be Yifang. I ordered the following: - 1 Oto Matcha Smoothie = $6.99 (requested 30% sweet) - also added boba TOTAL = $7.49 This place currently has a special where if you buy 1 drink, you get the 2nd drink 50% off. I probably waited around 5-10 minutes for my drink. I liked how my drink wasn't too sweet. Located in a plaza and adjacent to Northern Cafe and Sunmerry Bakery.

Yelp
Located in the Pacific Plaza, plenty of parking space. It can be packed during the weekends. Order from a kiosk machine. Some drinks you can't adjust the ice or sugar level. The teas are so flavorful and good. Ordered: Sugar cane mountain tea - Okay Ceylon black tea - yum Osmanthus oolong tea - interesting flavor

Yelp
I ordered online pickup right before lunch. My friend recommended this place for tea. So I ordered Salty Cream strawberry smoothie, it is creamy, strawberry like but it lacks flavor like saltiness. I would recommend try their tea but it was a warm day so I try a different one on their recommended drinks. Service is good, friendly, and busy for most part. The vibe and decor is a bit traditional and old fashioned. Will be back to try tea!

Yelp
Oto Tea has various drink options available from fruit teas, lattes, sugar cane and more. There are 2 ordering kiosks under the menus but they weren't operating at the time. The drinks come in 1 size only. Oto Fruit Tea: very tasty and refreshing. There was good amount of passion fruit seeds and thinly sliced apples and oranges. Even at 100% sweetness, it wasn't overwhelmingly sweet nor was it tart. Based on that alone, I wouldn't go below 50% sweet. I could taste other fruits in there but just couldn't figure out what I was tasting lol Peach Fruit Tea: you can pick from green tea or mountain tea. I went with green tea as I rarely get mountain tea and also 100% sweetness as I wanted to give this drink a fair tasting since this place is new. It came with a good amount of peach chunks with syrup. Not a bad thing as the drink doesn't have that funky artificial super floral-ish peach flavor. The tea itself was light and refreshing, not sweet at all. The only sweetness I tasted was from the syrup on the peaches. Not sure if asking for less sweet would mean less peaches? Their current promo is B1G1. You can mix and match drinks! Starts today on April 1st (not an april fools joke!) and ends on 04/15. Lots of time to try out all their drinks! This small boba shop is located in the same plaza as Great Wall Market. It's nestled between Black Shibuyala and Northern Cafe. Decent parking lot- the spots can get a bit cramped and it's packed on weekends Accepts card, cash, Apple Pay.

Yelp
So, this spot had me at hello with its adorable decor and cute cups - major heart eyes! But, gotta be real, the teas tasted kinda watered down, which was a total bummer. I really wanted to love it, but it just didn't hit the spot for me.

Yelp
We ordered drinks on fantuan app for pickup at 1:10pm. Arrived at the store around 1:25 and still had to wait 30 more minutes for drinks to come out. Seems like there's only one employee taking orders and one employee making drinks in the back. There was a line of customers that ordered in store and more online orders were popping up as we were waiting. The employee taking the orders went to the back to help make drinks but seems like she wasn't familiar with the recipes. They definitely should hire more workers and make sure they know how to make the drinks. This used to be the old Yi Fang so most of the drinks were the same from the previous store. There's a small waiting area inside the store and a couple tables and chairs outside. Not sure if they changed owners or just changed names but it's just wild to wait 45 min for two drinks.

Yelp
Delicious drinks, friendly service, clean and quick- everything you want in a boba shop. Get the mango pomelo, it's full of real fruit chunks, creamy mango, and squishy sago!

Yelp
Looks like this replaced Yifang Tea We stumbled upon this new tea spot after going to the GW Market. We saw that they're offering BOGO starting from 4/1-4/15! I opted for the Phoenix Oolong Tea Latte with boba. Even with 100%/regular sugar, it wasn't very sweet so that's a plus! The cashier forgot my boba though. I partially blame their loud music, but it's also BOGO/grand reopening so it's no biggie. Will be back soon to try their other drinks!

Tiffany ..

Yelp
Seriously slow service, we waited over 30 minutes for our drinks and learned they never even called our numbers, so the drinks were just sitting there melting away. The staff are incredibly rude and seriously attitudey. There are plenty of other drink options in Rowland, I'd go there instead.

Yelp
Today, while going to buy groceries in Rowland Heights, I passed by this new tea shop called OTO Good Tea and was surprised to find Mango Pomelo Sago, my brother's favorite back in China. I rushed in to buy it since I haven't had it since coming to the U.S.! It's Sunday today, so it was very crowded and bustling. We bought three drinks: Mango Pomelo Sago, my kid's favorite! They said it's sour and sweet, loaded with sago, and the mango sauce is rich, just like the one we loved in China--totally satisfying! It's their star product too. Matcha Ice Delight, really beautiful to look at. The layers of cream and matcha are perfect. It's cool and refreshing, with a strong matcha flavor, which was especially nice because it's a bit hot

Yelp
Great service, and the fresh sugarcane mountain tea is awesome, will sure be coming back for more!

Wendy M.

Yelp
Just tried the grapefruit green tea and it's amazing! I usually get the mango pomelo for a nice dessert treat but the greapfruit green tea is so fresh and has a good tea flavor. Lots of grapefruit chunks. Definitely recommend!

Yelp
I ordered online but there was no receipt. And the only call the order number which I didn't receive. So I waited a long time. I had to ask them finally. Also I order 50% sugar but it was still too sweet, it's like they didn't pay attention to the customization.

Yelp
This is the old Yi Fang, their new menu is very similar to the previous Yi Fang. It's the same staff just new name. They kept their fresh sugarcane menu, which is very nice. The taste is refreshing and not too sweet, however Yi Fang the sugarcane flavor was stronger vs this one is a bit water down. The brown sugar boba is delicious, the boba size is smaller but still chewy and I actually like it better. The cup quality is sturdy, that's a nice upgrade. The con is I wish I was able to adjust the ice level.
google avatar

Zack D.

Yelp
The drinks are delicious. This place used to be YiFang. Now it's a different name but still with the same owner. I like that they give you multiple levels of ice for many drinks. If a drink's ice level can't be modified, they make it clear to you. I like peach soda drinks and I'm so happy to find one here. The service is great as well. My wife also loved the sugarcane mountain tea she got. Will definitely come back to try other drinks!

Yelp
DO NOT come here. Not only are the drinks terrible but the service is twice as bad. We waited so long for our drinks even though it was not busy. There was another customer who came in 20 mins after we ordered and was arguing with the manager. The cherry on top was she got her drink within 10 minutes and we still hadn't gotten ours. LOL In total we waited 30 minutes for our drinks. No apologies. The manager even made a fuss with us. Lol this place is awful. Go somewhere else for boba, please.

Catherine L.

Yelp
I use to love this place, but they need to understand they are in America and not Asia. They are very slow in general.. I once waited HALF n HOUR for two drinks!! and they yelled a number and my friend took the drink thinking it was his because it was the same color and looked around the same and they made him pay for that accident. That is absolutely unprofessional considering all of their workers mainly speak in mandarin and their english's are meh... it's very inconsiderate to take advantage of a young man just because he isn't able to understand what is going on and make him pay for an honest accident. DO BETTER AND REMEMBER UR IN AMERICA ( btw this is coming from someone who is taiwanese and speaks mandarin fluently who wanted to take their friend to a cool boba spot)
google avatar

Yelp
If you're in Rowland Heights craving some amazing bubble tea, I recommend Oto Tea!!! They're all about using natural fruits to make their drinks, which makes them refreshing and delicious! The flavors are so good. Whether you're into mango or strawberry, you can bet you're getting the real deal. They seriously make every sip memorable. The vibe at Oto Tea is just right - friendly staff and great service!

Yelp
If I could give zero stars I would. We came at 2 pm with no wait at all. We ordered four drinks: osmanthus tea, two peach fruit teas, and jasmine green tea latte. Nothing that should take that long to make right? A woman who came TWENTY minutes after us, was making a huge scene and fighting with the manager about the buy one get one free deal and guess what? She got her four drinks BEFORE US. We were astonished and complained with the manager. Instead of apologizing to us for the LONG wait, she starts yelling back at us and justifying her behavior, saying We already have 3 drinks ready and are waiting on one more for you. They told us this over and over while we kept waiting 10 more minutes each time we asked. All in all, we waited THIRTY MINUTES for 4 drinks that should take 5 minutes to take. How did the drinks taste? Terrible. All of them were watered down, had basically no sugar taste in them even though we got 50% sugar, and the service made it even worse. Will NEVER be coming back. It's a shame Yi Fang sold out to them because even though they have basically the same menu as Yi Fang, their service and drink quality are terrible. Don't bother coming for the BOGO. Terrible place.

Yelp
This place is a tiny and cute boba store where Yifang used to be. The drinks here are great, not too sweet with a balanced tea to sweetener ratio. The parking situation here gets a bit crowded, especially since there's plenty of stores located in this plaza. The workers are very friendly and knowledgeable, and are very helpful in answering any of my questions. The manager, however, was not so friendly and was a real mood killer that interrupted my conversation with one of the workers here to address an issue on an unrelated topic. Aside from that, you aren't allowed to switch out the toppings on drinks, but instead they charge you extra for swaps. I am pretty understanding of these policies but many other stores do allow topping swaps, and paying extra for a $7 drink to make a topping swap seems kind of outrageous to me.
google avatar

sasa l.

Yelp
I was there on Saturday and the local of the plaza was packed with humans and cars. Lol. Couldn't find a parking spot for a while. The drinks... I got the sugarcane with lemon and Crystal boba. It was one of the top 10 drinks. I didn't like it at all. Maybe the Crystal boba is not my thing. I still prefer the regular boba. Will I be back? Maybe, if I am in the area, but would probably stick to regular boba drinks.

Derek L.

Yelp
The grapefruit green tea really impressed me. It's such a drink especially after meal.
google avatar

Connie A.

Yelp
Poor service. Waited for over 30 min for two drinks on a Monday afternoon. The drinks are decent at best. There are tons of boba spots in Rowland Heights. Pick another.
google avatar

April H.

Yelp
Slightly different menu as YiFang. New owner but same staff. Decided to give their Brulee brown sugar pearl tea latte, one with pudding & one without, & wasn't a fan of both. They were too milky & not enough tea flavor. The pudding was not good either. Went another time to get my usual Mango Pomelo sago & tried their avocado mango sago, both were great! Going to stick with these 2 drinks for now. If you can't have pomelo, you can choose to leave it out but make sure they actually do because they didn't read the drink label a couple times.

G A.

Yelp
Although I was pretty bummed that Yi Fang had left this store space in RH, am I glad that this new one Oto Tea lived up to my expectations ! Good job !!! Thank you and please keep up the good work .

Yelp
Oto Tea stands as a beacon of boba brilliance. The modern atmosphere is perfect for catching up with friends or enjoying some me-time. Crafted with premium ingredients, their boba teas are a symphony of flavors. From classic milk teas to inventive fruit infusions, there's something for every taste. What truly sets Oto Tea apart is their outstanding customer service. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate about tea. Oto Tea is the place to be!
google avatar

Yelp
Came here with my girlfriend; I ordered the pineapple green tea and she ordered the phoenix oolong tea latte, both were great and we thoroughly enjoyed our drinks. Will definitely come back to try out the other drinks in the near future! The service was also very fast, our drinks were ready pretty quickly.
google avatar

Sunny K.

Yelp
best grapefruit green tea in town! real grapefruit in the drink and you can adjust sugar level, too!
google avatar

Benson L.

Yelp
Good tea. Peach oolong is great. Osmantus oolong is good. Nice location great chi good vibes. Great tea very good.

Tina H.

Yelp
I got osmanthus oolong latte, 100% sugar, 30% ice, add osmanthus jelly. While ice and jelly were done right but I absolutely didn't taste any osmanthus. It was just like a sugar free oolong latte with osmanthus jelly. I think sweetness should be from osmanthus syrup which explains why it wasn't sweet at all. Maybe the staff forgot to add it.
google avatar

Wasel O.

Yelp
Avocado mango tea is an interesting diffrent choice than the usual. Would recommend trying it if you like trying a new flavors. for. The service is good and staff were friendly as well .. overall a good experience!
google avatar

Thiago O.

Yelp
My boba-loving girlfriend suggested this place and despite not loving boba, I am so glad we took the short walk! I got a passion fruit tea that was delightful. The passion fruit bits were unique to say the least. She tried the mango pomelo sago and raved about it on the way back. See you again soon, Oto!

Kevin T.

Yelp
Not sure if the Osmanthus Tea Latte is like this or not, but my drink was not strained and had so many tea leaves floating around that made it hard to drink. Would not come here again

Greg D.

Yelp
"Otto Boba Tea is a hidden gem that I stumbled upon and I'm so glad I did! The boba tea here is absolutely delicious - perfectly brewed tea with just the right amount of sweetness and chewy boba pearls. The ambiance is cozy and inviting, making it the perfect spot to relax and enjoy a refreshing drink. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, always ready to recommend new flavors to try. I highly recommend Otto Boba Tea to all boba lovers out there - it's a 5-star experience that you don't want to miss!"

Ben B.

Yelp
Hands down the best tea I had, place was busy but service was great all around. Would definitely make it my go to place with friends for the ambiance.

Bryan M.

Yelp
Delicious Oto tea! The flavors were fantastic and refreshing, with just the right balance of sweetness. The pearls were perfect. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, making it the perfect spot to relax with friends or grab a drink on the go. service was also very good. Will be coming back soon!

Yelp
The service was great and my tea was amazing! I definitely recommend anyone in the area to check out this great spot
