The Allure of Hoboken’s Roast Beef and ‘Mutz’ | Eater NY

"I learned that the hero loaf for Fiore’s was formerly sourced at Dom’s Bakery Grand in Hoboken, which has recently closed." - Robert Sietsema

15 Top Restaurants in Hoboken | Eater NY

"At one time, Hoboken’s most famous baked good was tomato focaccia, a thick, red-sauced flatbread something like a pizza, but also something like a round bread, and one with many potential uses — including just putting it in the oven topped with some of Hoboken’s famous mozzarella. Descended from a long line of focaccia bakeries, Dom’s is the last one standing, and worth visiting from anywhere in the metropolitan area. Other Italian breads and pastries also for sale." - Robert Sietsema

Melissa Ben-Ishay’s Grub Street Diet

"A new, welcoming bakery run by a friendly owner who turned out to be a neighbor; the author and her husband sampled a variety of baked goods and especially enjoyed the lemon-poppy scone and chocolate chip muffin, while her husband loved the banana bread." - Zach Schiffman, Adam Mazur

Google
What a find! They use true Normandy butter from France 🇫🇷 for their croissants! Super tasty and delicious. The owner Meran showed me the amazing 500 square foot brick oven, that used to bake bread for Frank Sinatra back in the day. Love it! What an amazing old school throwback, still backing amazing bread today. I would call this a super recommendation!

Not gonna lie, the almond croissants look ghastly: deflated and devoid of layers. Nonetheless, what I ordered was great. Sfogliatella was ace, the filling was perfect, creamy and not overly sweet. Focaccia wasn't anywhere as pillowy as the best but a fine slice for the neighbourhood.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Otok Bakery – Hoboken, NJ 📍 506 Grand Street, Hoboken, NJ 07030 Type: Artisan Italian Bakery & Café I visited Otok Bakery in Hoboken and absolutely loved it! This artisan bakery celebrates true craftsmanship—it’s housed in a 120‑year‑old coal‑fired oven and delivers that cozy, old‑world bakery charm . The breads are hand‑rolled daily by bakers with over 50 years of experience . Here’s what I ordered: • 🥐 Ham & Cheese Croissant – Flaky, buttery, and generously filled. • ☕ Cappuccino (regular milk) – Smooth and creamy, exactly how I like it. • ☕ Black Coffee – Rich and bold—seriously woke me up. • 🧁 Blueberry Muffin – Moist, bursting with flavor, and perfectly sweet. Service was friendly and fast, and the space itself is charmingly minimal with a European café vibe. The menu is full of manually made pastries and breads with high-quality ingredients . ⸻ ✅ Highlights: • Coal‑fired oven + authentic artisan bread • Fresh pastries, breakfast sandwiches & muffins • Exceptional cappuccino & coffee • Cozy, relaxed environment—great for a quick bite or work break ℹ️ Info & Pricing: • Address: 506 Grand St, Hoboken, NJ 07030 • Hours: Tue–Fri: 7 AM–4 PM, Sat–Sun: 8 AM–4 PM • Prices: Muffins ~$5, croissants ~$4–6, coffee ~$3–5 Pro Tip: Go early to grab fresh bread as soon as they hit the shelves at around 7 AM on weekdays . ⸻ Perfect spot if you’re searching for a top-notch artisan bakery in Hoboken, a place with hands-on baked goods, great coffee, and a warm, no-fuss vibe. I’ll definitely be back!

The private dinners here are incredible! As a local saying this, i can safely tell you they serve the best food we have had in hoboken, we have lived here for 11 years. its beats any of the usual greats, trust me. The owners/operators here have truly mastered and love their craft. This is something you dont see much anymore. I promise it will be a memorable experience for your group; and your tastebuds will yearn for more!

My husband and I came for the private dinner option and it was amazing. It’s hosted by the cutest couple who are so accommodating from meal choices to music preferences. The multi course meal was incredible and it’s such a fun and unique experience getting to meet a small group of locals from Hoboken for an intimate dinner. They thought of everything to make the night perfect and made us cute to-go bags with fresh bread. We highly recommend booking for a date night or small group event! 10/10

I’m currently eating one of the best breakfast sandwiches I’ve ever had from here. It’s simple but so well done! I got a BEC on a croissant with salt pepper ketchup. The proportions are perfect, the bacon is cooked perfectly! I also got an iced tea with a little sweetener and it’s also really good. I’ll definitely be back more often.

First timer & definitely coming back. I ordered a chocolate chip muffin and an Iced latte, wow! The muffin was so fresh and fluffy, with lots of gooey chocolate chips. The iced latte was done perfectly as well. Great, friendly service. Loved the atmosphere too. Recommended!

Google
Absolutely delicious bakery in a part of town where that was sorely needed after Dom’s closed. Otok is pricier than Dom’s but with the way things are that complaint can hardly be limited to them. Highly recommend the breakfast sandwiches and croissants. Just wish they’d stay open another hour or so.

Yelp
LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE. My favorite baguette/bakery in Hoboken. Their grilled cheese and tomato soup, fantastic. Their pepperoni stuffed breads, heavenly. Their chocolate croissants, chef's kiss. This is my favorite spot to go to and feels so good to support this small business. They are the definition of made with love and i am so happy this place is thriving. Anything you get, you cannot go wrong. I really want to try their meatball parm, that is next on my list. Great vibes, great staff, overall 12/10 place. Can't go wrong stopping in!

Yelp
It was a sad day when the legendary Dom's bakery closed it's doors, and I was sure a new set of condos were on the way. What a nice surprise to see a new bakery open in its place! Otok Bakery bakes several of Dom's best while staying true to the recipes. (panella loaves, baguettes, sfogliatelle, foccacia). There is also standard bakery fare (muffins, croissants), and they've added coffee and several seats inside and out. They are also starting a new venture into lunch specials. It is so great to see a rebirth of a great bakery, and new owners with a soft spot for yesterday, and an eye on the future.

Yelp
New bakery in town! I came here 3-4 times in the last 2-3 weeks because their baked goods are so darn good! So far we tried the baguette, rolls, focaccia, sausage bread, banana bread, cinnamon roll, mini beignets, cookies, etc. As you can see, I tried a lot of their baked goods so far and I'm impressed that I haven't found anything I don't like. The baguette mysteriously disappeared in my house before I even had a bite. In other words, my husband and toddlers ate the entire baguette when my back was turned. If you're only looking for bread, I recommend going in the morning and the bread will still be warm. Their pastries are not ready until 10:30-11. I believe they're still in soft opening phase so the selection may change (from what I've seen, they've been increasing their selection).

Yelp
Cute bakery with a nice history to it! The staff here were super helpful and gracious.

Yelp
Yum! That is the first word I think of when I get a craving for their lemon croissant! It is worth the 30 minute walk!

Yelp
I love fresh bread and a good bakery. I only recently discovered Otok Bakery and wish I had walked by earlier. The breakfast, the lunch specials, and the bread in general have been great, as are the people who work here. The chicken sandwich lunch special is very good, and the meatball parm is the best in Hoboken. It's that good. I hope Otok becomes a long time staple in Hoboken like Dom's was. They have a new regular customer in me now that I found them.

Yelp
Cute little neighborhood bakery. Friendly service and their range of baked goods has grown since they opened in the spot that was originally the famous Dom's Bakery which was a Hoboken institution. They offer coffee, breakfast sandwiches and stuffed breads, pizza, croissants, pastries and of course fresh baked bread! Dog friendly too!

Yelp
Otok Bakery went above and beyond catering for our wedding breakfast. Maren was wonderful to work with and everyone keeps raving about how delicious everything was. Whether a quick bite or a large catering order, Otok has you covered. Highly recommend!

Yelp
We are so thrilled that a fabulous brick-oven bread bakery has opened in the spot that used to be Dom's. Otok's breads are beautifully crusty on the outside and nice and chewy on the inside. I can't wait to try some of their other baked goods. The shop is bright and clean and the staff is very friendly. A great addition to Hoboken.

Yelp
Great breads, breakfast sandwiches and coffee. Always served with a smile and super kind to my boys.

Yelp
I was saddened when I learned that Dom was hanging up his mitts, as I got about 25% of my caloric intake from his shop. It seemed a petty concern when I learned of his passing. I consider myself an expert on Hoboken breadmakers, and although Chocopain makes a great baguette, nothing compares to the full Dom's lineup of coal-baked baguettes, boules, focaccia, and the customer experience. So I came to Otok prepared to be underwhelmed. But Otok has really delivered. The breads are nearly indistinguishable from what Dom offered (aside from a slight shrinkflation). I haven't yet seen the round focaccia available (essentially cheeseless personal pizzas) but the rest of the lineup is there. The square focaccias seem to use a thinner tomato paste than in the past. My mouth is watering just typing about this. Otok has always had 2 people working the counter and the place looks clean, hopefully they have addressed the mouse problem. One great thing about Dom's is the door was open at 5AM or whenever, and if you came at 8, the loaves were cool enough to slice. Otok isnt there yet but it is hands down the top bakery in Hoboken. Skip the Cake Boss ffs and try the OG Hoboken bread that kept Sinatra coming back.
