The 5 Best Restaurants For Paella In LA - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"The tapas at this modern spot in Highland Park can be hit or miss, but the paella (and goblet-sized gin tonics) make us happier than a (Spanish?) clam. From the four varieties to choose from, the mariscos paella is our favorite with its big prawns, tender squid, and dollops of tangy aioli that moisten up the socarrat. It’s that thin, crackly crust that Otoño gets right every time, giving every spoonful all the burnt, crispy bits we want." - sylvio martins

This is a unique entry. It's a coffee shop... And a thrift store. Although I cannot speak to the quality as a thrift shop due to my lack of experience in this area... I can review the coffee shop. It is quite decent. But I will point out the smaller selection of syrups offered by other shops (they do not have caramel), and they have no self-control when it comes to foam, this is a decent cup of Java delivered with style. Match point is won over other coffee shops in that they will let you sit down and bring your coffee. I like the idea of the thrift store combo, but it will take some getting used to, it's like having a Starbys in Target... Just upscaled. Special note, the open ceiling concept doesn't lend itself to holding heat. It wasn't cold, but it wasn't toasty warm either. That is a personal choice, not a condemnation... I like it warm. Also, it is less expensive than some of the other coffee shops within walking distance. Overall, I give it 9/10 - would recommend (They lost 1 point due to a lack of syrups)

This place is sooo cool, nice deco good vibe, and server was so nice. Matcha latte was tasted so good. I really recommend here, and I will come back definitely.

Otono is such a unique experience. Their staff are always kind and friendly, the atmosphere is relaxing and inviting. The music provides a laid back environment and the seating options are wonderful. I have been going here monthly with new groups of friends and just love showing it off!

Wow I love this place so much. Stopped in for a drink and a quick browse. Bought a really fair priced vintage jacket. Their selection was well curated and fun to look through. The environment was cozy. Service was so friendly! My chai was perfect. 10/10 all around. I’d be in every day if I lived closer.

Nice little cafe with room to grow, plenty of seating. Drinks were great. Music was low, leaving audio space for conversation, tuned to popular music from the early 2000s. They have a display of clothes that you to browse, buy as well.

Stumbled upon this place by accident but ended up loving it!! I love that you can get store credit by bringing in your used clothing! What a great way to recycle clothes and keep them out of landfills! I got an iced Chai latte with lavender syrup and it was 10/10! If I lived nearby I'd be bringing my clothes there all the time to get coffee! Wish I had a place like this where I live!

Otono has been one of my favorite places since I first discovered in 2023 at their old location up the road. Nearly half of my wardrobe is owed to them (the other to their neighbor up the road, Zabház). Otono continues to grow - I can't wait to visit cafe Otono! - and further solidify as one of the many small businesses that make Grand Rapids the beautiful city it is.

Google
Not gonna lie - I was dying to rate this less than 5 stars. I mean how can you have a 5 star rating these days with more than 3 reviews?!” Unfortunately (fortunately) this place is awesome, it starts with the coffee since if you are a coffee shop, you w gotta have great coffee and they do. But the best word I can use to describe this place is “cool”. I don’t like vintage clothing, but as ai look around I’m like, wow that’s cool. The layout of the place, cool. I mean the freakin bathroom….wow, cool! Sanitary napkin case, it’s a Cohiba cigar box, that’s cool. Last, the changing rooms to try on clothing, freakin cool. 5 stars

Yelp
If ur looking to put somebody else's clothes on again then this is the place 4 u. Ambiance is off the charts, trip to Spain? Nah we got vibes here. Coffee, u got the classics and also some crazy spins. Looks like specialty coffee and you'll find a bunch of cool coffee sacks around the place too Shout out to the table in the back right corner, favorite table in GR, one to the left of it by the men's pants is a close second I recommend any coffee, bought two pairs of pants here a while ago you can find some good stuff at a good price. Got some $90 pants for like $35 each barely used. Get urself adenosine blocked and enjoy the warm lighting and the smell of clean old clothes whether u like vintage stuff or not. I'd come here and pretend to work on a laptop for sure. Even read a book maybe if I was ever read one of the 300 on my shelf Seeya

Yelp
Otono is my kind of store. It sells vintage and used clothing and accessories, and everything is well curated, with no junky items to be found. Also, the prices are very good! Kind of surprisingly good, considering. This is one of those stores where you will walk away with something, because the price is right and the thing you are buying is unique and special, and it is just what you've been looking for, even though you didn't know you were looking for it until you spotted it. I am especially sensitive to lighting, so I notice when the lighting in a store is good (but also when it's bad). The lighting here is top notch! It's how I would light a store, if people gave me clearance to light their stores: soft, diffused, at a medium-high source. There are also big windows on either side of the building, so lots of natural light comes through. This is a pleasantly lit establishment. Otono is also a coffee shop. So you can grab a cup of coffee and browse around, or sit at one of the tables at the back of the store. This place was designed to be a hangout, and you can tell because it's just so cozy and inviting.

Yelp
Otono started as a vintage/thrift store four years ago, and they just moved into a bigger space and opened a cafe inside the store. I decided to check it out and was pleasantly surprised at how roomy and bright it was! I loved all the natural light in the front of the store. They have a nice selection of secondhand clothing, and everything was displayed well and labeled which I appreciated. Prices were a bit higher than your less curated thrift store, but I would say they were likely in line with other similar places. (I don't do a ton of thrifting so I'm no expert.) There are plenty of tables in the front and more seating towards the back of the store, so it would be a great place to hang out or get some work done. I liked that they have and area to try clothes on as well. I ordered a flat white which was very tasty and smooth, and chatted with one of the owners about the space and their plans for the future. They want the space to be a community gathering place and hope to host events. This area is full of several vintage stores, which makes it a fun destination for an afternoon of shopping. It's also very close to other popular spots like Pyramid Scheme and Stella's. There is metered street parking available on Division, Weston, and the Weston Commerce parking ramp nearby.

Yelp
I've been going to Otono for a while now! A really unique feature of the store is that there is no sales tax. The prices of all the clothes and other pieces have the tax already factored in. This is just such a small detail that does make budgeting and shopping that much easier. I'm also a really big fan of how well labeled everything is. There are definite sections with size orders as well. You're able to navigate the store very easily while also still being able to wander into other sections for more inspo as well. Like with many thrift/vintage/secondhand stores, you are able to trade in clothing for store credit. Otono is very clear about what they are looking for and put helpful guides on their social medias to assist as well. They recently added a small cafe with more seating for patrons to sit and enjoy their beverages. I think it's really added so much to the warmth and fun atmosphere that Otono already has. And the cafe wasn't the only addition! Otono has been churning out really groovy music nights ranging from singer/songwriters to jazz to DJ nights. I think Otono is doing a phenomenal job at cementing itself as a multifaceted and multifunctional third space for so many people and I'm excited to see what new things they bring!

Yelp
What a gorgeous space! Stopped in on Easter Sunday and was pleased to find a place open:) Went safe and ordered and iced mocha latte and it was delicious! Seems like a store and coffee shop combined.. with a beautiful exposed brick interior and very warm lighting. Definitely would come again for a delicious coffee or maybe go shopping for some clothing. Check this place out! It's so cute!

Yelp
I live a few blocks away from otono & have frequented this place more than 10x. I really love the ambience of Otono. If you're here to thrift, there's a variety of clothes and knickknacks to treasure hunt. I have found a few unique pieces here. If you're here for coffee or a drink, there are tables in the front and back to sit and hang out with friends. This is also a great place to pull out your laptop to get some work in. Outlets & wifi are available! My favorite has been the matcha and hojicha lattes here. Their vanilla coffee is also good. Really great quality overall. They sometimes get pastries from coucou, a really popular pop up bakery in GR, which is so nice since we avoid the coucou line (up to ~1 hr line). Whenever they serve cou cou pastries at otono's, I consider it my lucky day!
