Google
Amazing experience and probably one of the best casual sushi places in North Bay. The fish is incredibly fresh and the staff are just the right amount of attentive. We ordered: Miso Black Code Appetizer Sashimi Moriwase Saba Sashimi Hokkigai Sashimi Nigiri Moriwase Saba Nigiri Unagi Nigiri Ikura Nigiri Triple Tuna hand roll The miso black cod was perfect for my fish loving toddler who is a little too young to enjoy the raw fish. Nigiri was perfectly fresh and the sashimi was thick and generous.

Google
A delightful place for sushi! The house sushi was wonderful and the two item bento box had a nice sized portion of delicious food! The sushi was very fresh and nicely plated. The salad was also very fresh with a very nice slightly lemony dressing. This is definitely one of the nicer sushi restaurants that I have visited in a while. We shall return soon!

Google
As someone who doesn’t eat seafood, OTORO has a great selection of non-sushi / seafood items. The Galbi is 10/10. The karaage by itself is good but the spicy sauce makes it even better. The service gets a 5/5 thanks to Ryan who has helped me out twice. He’s never been my official server but he’s so good at his job that he helps every guest no matter who or where they are, he definitely carries the restaurant on his back.

Google
I'm so surprised by how fresh the fish was, everything here is so fresh and delicious, more importantly the price is super reasonable compared to the quality we've got from food and service I think worth more than we paid. Staff are so professional, quick, on spot and friendly. Dining room is so pleasant and clean wide variety of food to choose. We had an excellent time here and will definitely be back again soon.

Google
Amazing service and such delicious sushi!! Everyone is so nice and the rolls are fantastic. Highly recommend the Fire Rainbow, 49er, and Blushing Geisha rolls, and you HAVE to order the original karage. SO good. Maybe the best chicken I’ve ever eaten.

Google
Such variety and so good. We had the deluxe Sushi, Big Brother roll, and Gyoza. Nice laid back atmosphere.

Google
Visited again and the place didn’t disappoint! Great restaurant and great menu options. Something for everyone meat eaters or not. And excellent presentation! Food tasted great as well. Plenty of parking available which was convenient.

Google
Since I am traveling and don't have the chance to go back for a second visit, I hope the poor fish quality was a one-off becauseOtoro did well with food portion, food presentation, pricing, ambiance and service. As a sushi lover, I can tell you I was not happy with the quality of the fish. It came as quite a surprise because the fish cut and the presentation was great! It was sad to take a bit of fish and to have the texture was spongy and chewy.

Yelp
MAR2025 Still a favorite of mine though I haven't updated in a while. I've tended to get the same things myself so it makes it a little harder to elaborate on that point since the vegetarian side of things stays the same. It's been quite convenient as we've done some small celebrations with friends here with their new child, and the wait staff has been extremely accommodating for everything we need. I still usually go with a shiitake roll, avo cu, and melting salmon as a basis for anything here. Other go tos in general were the out of control, grilled octopus, and unagi hand rolls.

Yelp
We went on a week night for dinner and got seated right away. We asked if they did sake bombs and got a very rude response so we just got beers. The edamame was very good. The rolls were just ok. Customer service wasn't that great but it's close to hotels and downtown.

Yelp
Food: delicious Service: great people Ambiance: authentic, our favorite vibe of the sushi spots in Healdsburg Everything we ordered was perfection! We loved the chicken karaage!! It was cooked perfectly and served in an eye appealing, art form!! Our sushi rolls were so dannnng good! we love this place!

Yelp
Great service, came tonight Thursdays and our waitress was very nice. I had a tiger spicy tuna with mango added. Was delish! Wish I remembered the girls name, I didn't take my receipt but if I'm back in this area... I will return
google avatar

Yelp
It was great that the business was open at 11, as getting into lunch that early is a lot easier than even 1130. The stand out was the spicy garlic edamame appetizer and the spicy martini prawns. Both of these would be great for the non-raw crowd. I personally had a heavy metal roll and three slices of Scottish salmon sashimi, which were also very, very good. I've eaten it a lot of sushi, restaurants that have ranged from totally terrible to totally fabulous, and I'd put this establishment on the top 5% of my list. A great find for future meals! Service was impeccable, although it is hard to rate when you are the very first patrons of the day. As for ambience, sitting at the sushi bar was totally comfortable with no real issues whatsoever, and no big rush in any way shape or form. Draft Japanese beers were a treat , and restroom was impeccable!

Yelp
We love Toro and are here every chance we get. This has been our number one spot for years. The employees are all friendly, everything is always amazing every time we go.

Shalev M.

Yelp
Very disappointing experience. The food was not good at all -- we have mention the fish was smalls bad and it didn't taste fresh. Instead of addressing the issue, the owner was extremely rude and gave us the check right away, And refused to serve us even though we hadn't asked for it yet. Unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend this place.

Yelp
The food is excellent. The service is the best. It's a really good place to go. Everybody knows everybody and it's very relaxing.

Yelp
Great sushi- Ordered a couple of nigiri options (Sabu and Unagi). Fresh and perfectly prepared. Opted for Hamachi collar - wow! It was perfect. I'm coming back!

Yelp
Takeout dinner on a Monday? When most other spots in town are closed, Otoro is open and has you covered! The online order system is easy and our food was ready in 15 minutes! Woohoo! Our order -edamame -beef gyoza -spicy tuna roll - add crunch - love! -green dragon roll -big brother roll - my new fave! Love that their rolls are full of fresh fish, but are also a manageable size. Fresh, delicious, nutritious! Do it!

jocelyne t.

Yelp
DELICIOUS And perfect service and seats. Unfortunately, we were just traveling through town but we will make it a regular stop on our drive !

Yelp
Went here for early lunch today after checking out of our glamping spot down the road. I noticed they had almost 5 stars which is rare on Yelp. After having lunch here, I can see why. The dishes are all great no matter what kind of Japanese cuisine you're craving. I'm usually a sashimi or nigiri kind of gal but I've been eating that a lot lately so I've opted for a bento box. Food was fresh and great! You can't really go wrong with anything here. The staff is really nice too, we had great customer service. We'll be back if we're in the area glamping again! We love Healdsburg!

Yelp
Needed a break from Thanksgiving leftovers- decided on lunch with family at Otoro. It was exactly what we all wanted - something different. I had the bento box and tempura combo. Both were amazing and there was enough for left overs the following day! Love this place and any air to go back.

Yelp
This place is a gem. Don't tell anybody but the sushi is awesome. Definitely will be going back. The service was great and it was quiet enough to have a nice conversation. The rolls are a good size and all the fish was super fresh.

Yelp
Best Gyoza I have has since I lived in Japan! Miso soup is legit, everything is fresh and presented well. They are very accommodating when I ask for less rice. I love this place

Yelp
TLDR: I highly recommend the 10 piece chef's special. Situation: I don't know if it's because of the demographic of the area or that we're further from the city but it's been so hard to find a good sushi spot. Most of the sushi spots I've seen so far mainly offer rolls / Westernized. So when I saw Otoro had a 10 piece chef's choice for nigiri, I was excited to try it out. Experience: I was very impressed. The chef's choice was like an omakase quality selection. The fish was extremely fresh and delicious. I loved the variety too. I would say this particular order was comparable to those in the city. Why the chef's choice: The difference between the 10 piece chef's special nigiri moriawase and the 10 piece nigiri moriawase is that the chefs special is more fancy. For example it includes pieces like unni (yum), some of the pieces are charred or had fun toppings. It definitely makes the experience much more exciting. Space: I ordered over the phone and gave them my ETA. I got my order correctly and on time which was great. The space itself is pretty cozy. Location: I got a little lost finding Otoro since it's in a plaza with other businesses. The restaurant is located across from hardware stores in the yellow buildings. There's also a free parking lot space behind the restaurant too. A sign might be helpful! Feedback: I might be mistaken but two of my pieces might have been the same. I wasn't too upset because it was one of my favorite pieces but wish each piece was different. This is nitpicky but some of the slices could have been more even but sharing to make the whole presentation A+! I would also explain on the menu the difference between the regular and chef's special 10 piece. Luckily I had called in so learned about the difference. Also wish it was a few dollars less. (Everything was $40 post tax). Overall verdict: For Sonoma County and in comparison to other sushi spots here, the chef's selection was a solid 5 stars. I'm glad I don't need to wait until I visit the city again to find delicious nigiri. I would come back again, and hopefully with other people next time!

Yelp
Delicious every time! The staff is thoughtful and respectful. My favorite spot is sitting at the bar but every space around the restaurant is comfortable and not too loud even on busy nights. Great for date nights and celebrations.

Yelp
We celebrated a couple of family birthday's there last weekend and were quite impressed. We even had our foodie Japanese daughter in law give it a thumbs up. Great ambiance and fresh sushi how can you go wrong? Top it off with impeccable and you have a definite winner. If you are in Healdsburg try it. You will not be dissappointed.
google avatar

Toni Z.

Yelp
I love this place! I've been coming here for years. Today they let me come in 30 mins before they opened for some jalapeño bombs and the baked salmon roll, both superb! Definitely check it out of you're in Healdsburg
google avatar

Chris M.

Yelp
Loved this place. Cute atmosphere and delicious fresh fish at a reasonable price. The service was outstanding. We got the Chef's choice 10 piece nigiri from the reviews I read and agreed that it was one of the best choices. Will look forward to coming back next time I'm in the area. And it was walking distance from my hotel so was another plus.

Yelp
Yooooooo. This sushi is good... So my Healdsburg adventure begins today. I know Healdsburg has decent sushi because me and my girlfriend came here like 5 years ago but I really was surprised at the quality. We were going to hang with family today and have a BBQ but there were requirements. We had to bring wine and an appetizer. We usually have wine on deck for an occasion but what did we want eat... Her dad is the owner of Fitch Mountain Winery so we needed to have something good with Gewürztraminer. Ive lately have been trying to eat better because I'm trying to get rid of my gut. Why not something fresh? I also had a taste for something spicy. Why not sushi? I stumbled upon Otoro and was pretty impressed. I got it to go but I was really impressed by the flavors in the Heavy Metal Roll. I also loved the crunch from the shrimp tempura and cucumber in the Dragon Roll. I really recommend this place. I'm really interested to see how dining inside is like. Also random but needs to be known. Finding a park can be kind of weird...If you are coming from Dry Creek Rd go through the light and keep in eye on the right. Eventually there will be a lot on the right where you can find Otoro. Kobe: You're welcome.

Rachel G.

Yelp
Pork tonkatsu was tender and had good flavor. The 49er roll was yummy and a good portion size. The bento box came with a salad and miso soup. Both were very good. Our waitress was very nice and attentive even if we chose to sit outside. The restaurant it tucked in between different businesses which made parking a little tricky from someone coming from out of town.
google avatar

Yelp
Always solid food. Love the staff. Can't go wrong with the New Mexico roll. We usually get our food Togo but when we do dine in, we always sit at the bar and enjoy the engagement with the chefs
google avatar

Becca B.

Yelp
I came here on a Monday night and the service was amazing! We got there early and we beat the rush! We got there about 5pm and by 6 there wasn't anymore empty tables. The rolls are good with lots of flavor. The restaurant is busy with in person costumers as well as many door dash orders, yet they still were very on top of checking in with my group and making sure we were happy and had everything we needed. Great place for dinner!
google avatar

Linda P.

Yelp
This place is super small but the quality of food is great!!! Most impressive is the massive green tea ice cream the size for 2. I didn't like the chocolate syrup but the green flavor was good (yes, there are definitely gross green teas flavors out there, but this place is good) I didn't get the roll I wanted because a Yelp posted named it wrong, nevertheless the wrong roll I got was still good. Nice balance of the raw fish they had. The chicken Katsu was super tender and yummy. All the rolls that were ordered were very colorful and delicious One thing I didn't like was that the tofu agadeshi wasn't as crispy and we are use to.

Bob N.

Yelp
Things change. Food still good, but the service now sucks. Chef is unfriendly, and for some reason has some screwed up attitude. They love you for a few months the spit you out. Probably will not ever go back there.
google avatar

Alden G.

Yelp
Cozy sushi bar, outdoor seating, friendly staff and service. Very expertly prepared sushi. Everything was fresh and delicious: sashimi, sushi and rolls. Complimentary miso soup and melon were a nice touch. Recommend.
google avatar

Craig F.

Yelp
Well, I hate to say it, but this place is slipping. Although service is polite, it's a bit on the slow side. And the sushi, while creative, doesn't seem to have the same "pop" as it once did (maybe it needs to be a bit cooler?). Our friends ordered a poke salad, and upon seeing it said it was half the size as a previous order. Hmmm. We ordered the 20-pc Sashimi Moriwase (who needs rice?), which gives you thicker cuts of the fish. That was OK, and the chef's selections were fine, but the fish seemed room temperature rather than slightly chilled. It came with a bowl of miso soup and small salad (both shared). At least the Saporo was cold. Will we be back? I dunno --- might travel a little farther down the road and see how Ume is doing.

Yelp
After a day in North County, we decided to duck into Otoro to give them a try for lunch. I feel like I've been to this complex before but it wasn't this restaurant and I'm not sure what used to be here but I sort of feel like maybe it was an Indian restaurant? Regardless we decided to give them a try and were seated on the patio due to social distancing. We were given menus immediately but it was clear that the few tables that were currently being served were more than the one waitress could handle that day. She seemed very frazzled and disorganized but we were able to catch her as she ran between tables and asked to put in our order. I ordered a hot green tea $1.50 and the unagi bowl $24 and asked to add avocado and tobiko which they didn't charge me for which was interesting. He also ordered a hot tea $1.50 and the nigiri moriwase- 8 pieces for $20. Our teas, salad, and miso soup came out very quickly, and the tea and miso were hot just the way I like it. The salad unfortunately was a bowl a very sad bland iceberg lettuce topped with a mayonnaise dressing and neither of us ate it because it was so lackluster. The other two tables were full of people who seem to have been doing wine tasting for the day and were extremely loud and obnoxious which definitely detracted from our experience. Once the food arrived, his sushi looked good, however he said that the fish slices were very uneven and on some places were extremely thin, and other places so thick he could barely chew through them. He also said that he didn't feel like they tasted very fresh which was sad. My unagi dish looked gorgeous, however the e el needed to be cooked a little bit longer, and the amount of dressing of eel sauce on everything was really overpowering. The avocado and tobiko however were fresh and that was The main positive. Service was spotty and frantic despite only having four tables going late in the afternoon, and parking was plentiful and free just in their own private lot. I feel like the prices were decent for how much food they were offering, however the quality of the fish was not very good and the consistency was all over the map. I'm not sure if maybe we hit them on a bad day but both of us felt like our meals were definitely something we would not come back for a second time.

Yelp
I ordered the oyster tempura appetizer and teriyaki salmon bento box to go. It was ready in less than 15 minutes. The 4 panko crusted oysters were a bit overcooked but still good. The teriyaki salmon was dry but very tasty. The salmon filet had no skin on it which would have helped it from drying out. The rice, salad, miso soup, and the rest of the bento box was very good. I'll try the Dragon roll and a few other things next time as I think the food and prices are very decent.

Ricky J.

Yelp
Amazing service, amazing food. Ambiance was great. Great price. Love coming here with my family. Side note: I'm pretty sure my server is on test, his traps were massive. I think I saw him in the kitchen holding up every plate in the building at once.
google avatar

Yelp
Excellent Hamachi Heaven Roll!!!! Paired with Sapporo after a long day. Recommend Otoro to anyone looking for good sushi!
google avatar

Philip L.

Yelp
Had outdoor seating, which we appreciated since we had a party of six. Cost can run high, but I guess that's sushi in Healdsburg for you. At least the food was good and parking lot is convenient. Not bad overall, which is win when trying to find decent sushi in an unfamiliar town - without breaking the bank.
google avatar

Debbie M.

Yelp
We were able to sit outside which was very pleasant. The waitress, I believe her name may have been Amy, said multiple times that we ordered "a lot of food". And we actually didn't. I've never had a waitress ever say that before. The tempura has too much batter , can't truly enjoy the veggies and shrimp. The sushi roll I ordered was too soft and fell apart unless you pick it up by your fingers. The beer was good, never drank Suntory beer before. Also was told the crab is not all real crab. Too many other Japanese restaurants that are far more superior to this one.
google avatar

Athena Z.

Yelp
Decent Japanese restaurant on a corner. The restaurant is an "L" shape where there's a sushi bar on one side and standard table seating on the other. The downside to this is it made it difficult to see their sushi special menu on the chalk board. The food itself is very good. The combo tempura is for sharing and I would rank this as one of the best tempura I've had. Fried to perfection with just the right amount of breading. Vegetables are fresh but the shrimp tempura appears to be the standard restaurant quality. The sushi-sashimi combo was very good with excellent presentation and care that went into it.
google avatar

Jeremy R.

Yelp
We were up in the Healdsburg are glamping at Wildhaven and didn't feel like making our dinner so off to Otoro. We arrived early, when they opened and were greeted enthusiastically and grabbed a table. Overall the food was super fresh, well prepared and elegantly presented. The restaurant is spotless and service is quick and friendly. Agadashi tofu and mixed tempura were hot out of the fryer and tasted very clean. Our only complaint was that the sauce lacked flavor/salt. The rolls were tasty but I was expecting real crab not Krab. They threw in some fresh pineapple for dessert. Overall, tasty Japanese treats and friendly, efficient service.

Yelp
Great and very reasonably priced Sushi/Japanese restaurant a mile outside Healdsburg square. I'm not a huge sushi fan but the rest of the family is - so I judge sushi restaurant on the other offering. The Ramen was very good - if not a bit hot. I could eat that alone and be happy. The gyoza was excellent and very crispy not soggy like some places. The same with the chicken karaage and popcorn shrimp. Both very good. As for the sushi - the family really enjoyed and said it was as good or better than the two sushi restaurants on the square. We over bought because the prices were so low we assumed tiny portions - but they were normal size. We eat out sushi a lot and this was the smallest bill I can remember - well done!

Yelp
Been coming for years. My favorite spot in Sonoma County. The food is always amazing. The owner & chef Andy is a great person and knows what he is doing. You can tell he loves what he does. He is very welcoming and makes our trips here worthwhile every time. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu but we always get the melting salmon, shiitake roll, and other large rolls. Recommend!

Yelp
They should be proud of themselves for serving such good food!! Loved it!! The wagyu tataki on the skillet was SO fun and yummie. I can't wait to come back for more!!

Malinda P.

Yelp
We ordered to-go during one of the hot 100+ days and the food was tasty, communications via online ordering were flawless (order placed, order being prepped, order ready) and pickup was friendly and easy. Can't ask for much more. The menu had good variety and tried some new-for-us items. Thanks!

Yelp
Quaint little Sushi joint located on the outskirts of Healdsburg. Not the most ideal location for a sushi restaurant as it is located at what most would consider a business complex with not much signage indicating there is a restaurant inside. The inside is nice and inviting and the staff is very warm. The menu is quite large, so get ready to sit down and read a novel of drool worth sushi options. As for pricing, it is very affordable and the portions are quite large for what you pay for, so no complaints for me. I opted to order both the Avocado Roll and Heavy Metal roll (Spicy Tuna, Unagi, Avocado, and Macadamia Nuts). Fish was very fresh, and everyone else was on the same page as well with their dishes. Honestly I need to revisit this fine establishment again very soon as they serve some top quality sushi, especially compared to some other sushi restaurants nearby.
google avatar

Max S.

Yelp
Good sushi, great price! We had a party of 10 that got seated immediately. Service was quick. Also finally a restaurant with no MANDATORY gratuity! We of course still left 20%, but it was a breath of fresh air to not have it mandatory. Incentives the waiter and waitresses. 5/5 would come back!
google avatar

Eric Y.

Yelp
They mess up my simple to-go order. One item was the wrong roll. Oh how a small mistake can be such a big one. Also, they skimped on the soy sauce. How awful is that? Service was friendly. But they also didn't return a customer's credit card while I was there. The customer had to ask for it back. That's terrible. Sorry to have to thumbs down this place, especially when I appreciate good veggie roll options.

Yelp
Otoro is the best. They have amazing sushi, a great menu to choose from; everything is so fresh and impeccably prepared which is my main criteria for a sushi restaurant. Easily accessible with a parking lot. My only con is that the outdoor seating that they have is not too far to a busy intersection so it's not the best outside seating, but glad it's an option. The staff is so kind and helpful. They have made great menu recommendations for us and always answer all of my curious child's questions with grace. They communicate when they are very busy and it might take longer which is A+ service. Thank you Otoro!

S B.

Yelp
Very good. The staff is very friendly. Overpriced though. The prices on DoorDash are unreasonable.

Yelp
We've eaten here twice during the pandemic, as a result of our usual sushi spot being completely closed. The food is FANTASTIC! Service is kind, patient, and not overly rushed like many other restaurants trying to keep your timing to a minimum because of high demand for outside seating. Quantity is substantial, unusual in this area, and doesn't sacrifice quality. Mind you, this isn't a super high-end, omakase spot, but rather a great spot for creative sushi. On both occasions we ordered the baby octopus appetizer and the blushing geisha roll. The octopus is cooked beautifully, super flavorful and tender. I'll order this appetizer every single time! The Blushing Geisha roll is also fantastic. I'm not usually a huge fan of mango in sushi, but the combo works really well. Other rolls that stood out were the Climax Roll, Caliente Roll, and Fire Rainbow Roll (in that order). We've also ordered the Big Spider, Hamachi Heaven, and Inferno Scallop rolls which were all delicious, but when compared to some of the others just didn't quite stand out from the crowd for us. They also bring out sliced pineapple to finish with your check, which is a lovely end to the meal! The staff at OTORO is also exceptionally clean - we watched them wipe down tables immediately after guests had left, and of course they wear masks.
