Great place for authentic Italian food in Hoboken. The ingredients are fresh and the taste is unique. Must try if you crave for Italian food. The service is also quick and portion sizes are decent for a good meal. The only downside is there is no parking. Plan to make multiple trips around a few blocks and hope to get lucky enough to get a empty spot.

If you're in the mood for good Italian cuisine, Otto Strada is the perfect destination. This charming BYOB restaurant offers a delightful experience that brings the flavors of Italy right to your table. While the indoor seating can get quite loud during dinner, the outdoor area provides a much more enjoyable atmosphere for a relaxed meal. The highlight of our visit was undoubtedly the pastas. We tried the Linguine con Pesto di Pepe Rosso, and to our delight, the staff graciously accommodated our request to switch to green pepper. The result was a beautifully balanced dish with vibrant flavors and a rich pesto sauce that perfectly coated the linguine. Next, we tried the Spaghetti Aglio Olio, which packed a little more heat than your typical preparation. The added spice gave it a delightful kick, elevating this classic dish and making it an exciting choice for those who enjoy a bit of zest in their pasta. While the pizza was decent, it was clear that the pastas stole the show during our visit.

Amazing !!! Can’t begin to explain the quality of the food and service here. Came here for the first time for a date night and was blown away! Will be back for sure. Thank you Otto Strada for an amazing night out. Very well priced and BYOB! Liquor store up the block had great prices on wine as well, Garden wine and liquor!

Google
First time having dinner here and I love the place. The smashed burrata and prosciutto dish is soooo good. We also had the pear salad and the truffle pasta. The pasta was very creamy and the portion is huge too. would highly recommend and will come back again.

Google
Otto Strada is a fantastic Italian restaurant in Hoboken. The food is authentic and flavorful, with fresh ingredients and generous portions. The homemade pasta and wood-fired pizzas are must-tries. The cozy, rustic atmosphere and friendly staff make it a great spot for a casual dinner or a special night out. The outdoor seating is lovely, especially on a nice evening. Highly recommend if you’re in the area!

Google
Very disappointing. Heard a lot of great things. But they came up way short. The stuffed artichoke was lacking any artichokes it was all breadcrumbs and parmigiana cheese. The veal cutlet looks great, but was dry and cold. I guess I should have ordered pasta.😔

Google
This is the BEST Italian Restaurant in Hoboken! They have delicious appetizers, an amazing pepperoni pizza and bolognese pasta!

Google
It is a nice outdoor dining experience in a city setting, and it gets packed during dinner time. The outdoor seating area is covered under real grape vines. The pasta dishes were fantastic, and the salad was refreshing. In general we like the food here. Service was okay, there was enough staff, but we think there were rooms for improvement. This is a relaxing place great for meeting friends or families when the weather is good out.

Yelp
As far as Italian restaurants go, this is the best one Hoboken has to offer. I have been over over 40/50 times, no exaggeration. Having tried nearly everything on their menu, I don't think I have ever tried something I do not like. Everything is made in house and tastes like it. The freshness of the food is unparalleled in this town. The staff is extremely friendly and professional. Having met the owner multiple times, it is so obvious how much love he puts into this place. The seating is tight, but you get past it as the inside is decorated rather nice and has great lighting. I love the outdoor area during the summer and winter. It is BYOB and there is a liquor store that deciders to the restaurant if you need more wine during your meal. HIGHLY recommend coming here - they do not take reservations though so get here early if you want to avoid a wait.

Zach C.

Yelp
Amazing place, food is outstanding and can't beat a byob! Friendly staff, they don't take reservations. The place opens at 5pm and gets poppin around 6pm. So get there early!!

Kate B.

Yelp
10/10 to this amazing Italian restaurant. My friends and I literally had to eat at 5 pm because we couldn't get another time later and the restaurant is pretty small, about 10-15 tables, so we were happy with what we could get. The portions were huge, our waiter helped us decide on which meals to get when we couldn't decide since everything sounded great, and his recommendations were spot on. I could literally eat the strawberry and buratta salad every day for the rest of my life and I think the pictures of the pastas speak for themselves. We considered this spot for our engagement party after only dining 1 time because the food and staff were so amazing. Love love love

Yelp
Otto Strada has one of my favorite ever pizzas. Their truffle pie is amazing. If you like truffle, you will really like this truffle pie. So good with tons of flavor. Also had their penna vodka and also very good. Only slight downside is service is slow and it's very difficult to get a table on a Saturday night unless you are there at opening. They don't take reservations. The food is so good it's worth any inconvenience though!

Joey T.

Yelp
Great little corner place with stellar Italian. For me the pasta and sauces really killed it -- you can tell they put a lot of love and time into their bolognaise!

Irene H.

Yelp
Review for takeout. This place is highly rated, we ordered pasta but I can't remember what I ordered and I thought it was ok. Heard about the Christmas Eve 7 fishes takeout menu and we were very happy with it. We ordered two portions for 2.5 of us and it was generous. They let me mix and match so we could share/try more items. All the seafood/fish tasted very fresh, would order again! They included some trays for easy reheating in the oven. I ordered a few hours past the deadline so had to go straight to Kikilu for gelato.

Kimberly d.

Yelp
Great place and decently priced. Be sure to check in before sitting down. We kind of got scolded for sitting down but we were also standing around and no one acknowledged us. Food was great. Nice and chill spot for sure.

Geo C.

Yelp
Love the place and the owner. Dishes are amazing, but may be kinda rich for some palates, not for the kiddos though.

Juju K.

Yelp
Walk in on a Friday night around 5:30. There were no tables inside, so my friend and I opted for the green house outside. There were heaters, so we could take our coat off and felt ok, but my feet were cold the whole time, and definitely not warm and cozy temp, but bearable. The service was friendly and despite being outside, the servers checked in to make sure everything was ok at least a couple of times. The burrata crostini tasted fresh and light. Great burrata. I chose the pesto with tomato pasta but opted for spaghetti instead of spaghetti squash. The portion is huge so that at least that justifies the price. Pesto tasted good, but just not enough of it. The pasta had a dry mouth feel. It needed more olive oil and more pesto. A few cherry tomatoes didn't really add to the flavor. I wouldn't mind going back, but I won't order that dish again.

Sun H.

Yelp
Food was so good here! Two of my friends came for pizza but they were completely sold out which threw us off. Other than that the service was amazing and the quality of the food was perfection! Really cute & cozy spot with a great ambiance overall.

Sagar G.

Yelp
This place is always so busy, and rightly so. The food is really tasty (8.5 or 9/-0). The ambience is pretty good too, with both outdoor and indoor seating. Given the neighborhood it does give a good European vibe. The wait for a seat can sometimes be long, but once you're seated and ordered - they food usually comes out pretty quick. This is a BYOB place, and there's a liquor store just around the corner.

Christina B.

Yelp
This is my absolute favorite Italian spot in Hoboken. When I lived there, this was our treat and special date night spot. They don't take reservations so expect to wait a little but it's worth it. The red pepper pesto pasta is the pasta of my dreams. Everything is delicious and fresh. It's BYOB and a liquor store is right around the corner which is convenient. From the apps to desserts everything is always so delicious.

Mike H.

Yelp
Small very nice Italian restaurant with a refined menu and mature clientele. The restaurant was full on a Tuesday night, granted it was the day after Christmas, so we had to sit in the semi-heated sidewalk shelter. The dishes were on the fancier side. I had chicken Milanese, which was a pan fried chicken cutlet topped with prosciutto and standard mozzarella on a giant bed of arugula and chopped tomato with a sweet balsamic glaze on the salad. The portion was enormous and it was absolutely delicious. I tried the veal tortellini and that was even more excellent. The veal tortellini was very tasty, and the cream sauce was so rich. The Nonna's polpetta pie pizza was below average. The crust was crisp, dry, and bland, and the toppings were also bland. 4.5/10 pizza, but amazing entrees.

Caroline B.

Yelp
One of the best Italian restaurants in Hoboken (that's also BYOB too!) we ordered a bunch of food but started with the burrata crostini and stuffed peppers , got the bee sting pizza and espresso ravioli which was 10/10, and ended with the shoemakers chicken.

Mollie F.

Yelp
This restaurant was recommended to us by a local and deemed "the best Italian place in all of New Jersey and a reason I visit Hoboken on the regular" It did not disappoint! Everything was delicious and I still think about the pesto pasta dish. The service was quick and we never had a dry glass. It is BYOB so if you would like a drink, you MUST bring it. That is the only slightly sad part about our visit, we didn't know. I would recommend this place to anyone and everyone! My next trip to Hoboken, I will be back for sure!

Sahithi T.

Yelp
The pasta here was so good and the service is efficient. My first time trying Nutella pizza and it wasn't for me but a large enough dessert to share. Overall, it was great except for the fact that we kept getting asked if we were still eating/done even though we were still working through our food.

Cole M.

Yelp
This one blew other Italian in Hoboken of the water. Large menu and huge portions. We sat outside and the staff was great and didn't rush us when we were done. We ordered mussels, burrata, focaccia (even though they are charging $7 for it), and a salad to start. The truffle pasta was amazing and we had tons of leftovers. It's also BYOB! Will definitely be back.

Brittany F.

Yelp
My favorite Italian restaurant in Hoboken. It is a byob but does not take reservations however it is worth any wait time. The food is incredible and the service is great. The vibe is casual date night.

Connie X.

Yelp
BYOB, fast service, very cute ambiance. To be quite honest, I have been to Otto Strada quite a bit in my life. Every time I visit Hoboken, I try to stop by. otto Strada can be a little pricey (expect to spend $40 / person depending on what you're ordering), but it's great for a cute little dinner date or group date. They are quick with their food and the pasta portions are huge. You can expect to have a ridiculous amount of leftovers if you are someone like me. We got some appetizers to share and then had the main course. Then finished our meal off with espresso. The espresso is okay, but it is nice after a large, carb filled meal. I love their outdoor seating options (outdoor I believe is dog friendly) and indoor is also cute. When it is nice out, they have the restaurant doors open and so it doesn't feel compact. Overall, I will continue to come back.

Lisa P.

Yelp
This small Italian spot has many pizza and pasta options. They do make homemade pasta for some of the dishes which makes it fresh and authentic. We ordered the ricotta crostini for an appetizer which was good. For main course we ordered Orecchiette with fresh corn & burrata and Rigatoni alla vodka which were both good but wished the alla vodka had a little more sauce as it felt a little dry and a spice kick to it as it was labelled as spicy. The last time I had the rigatoni vodka here it definitely little spicier. I wish they could expand their location to be bigger as the wait gets long and they don't take reservations. Also hope they get better air conditioning as it was very hot inside on humid summer day to the point we were sweating. During the summer they do have some outside seating available. The service was attentive however we did feel rushed out even though we tried to go little earlier to beat the wait for dinner. This place is byob so feel free to bring your drink of choice! They do provide a chiller for your wine.

Devika P.

Yelp
There is a reason this place is one of the most talked about Italian restaurants in Hoboken. It's an absolute hit. They do not take reservations, so be prepared for that & they are BYOB! Plenty of bars and liquor stores nearby to grab a bottle of wine or a drink while you wait/ after dinner. We came in late on a Friday and the staff was very nice and accommodating to us despite the rush. The food we were served was delicious & the truffle mushroom tagliatelle pasta was to die for!! The pasta tasted so fresh and had the perfect mushroom/truffle flavor in my opinion. As a mushroom and truffle lover, I was ecstatic. Not to mention, the portions were HUGE. I ended up getting like 3 meals out of it! The pasta held up well even as leftovers, which is how you know it's good!! Would definitely be back to try the iconic rigatoni vodka pasta with mozzarella pearls and try some pizzas and app's!! Their dessert menu looked good but we were too full -- make sure to save some space for it!

Marilyn S.

Yelp
Wanted to check this place out. I was not impressed. The service was not good. Waiter didn't come around to ask how things were. The meal was doused in cheese and an overwhelming amount of sauce. Wanted to take half of the meal home and the food was packaged into a small box with no bag given to us, it was pouring rain out so the box got wet. Place is very small and tight. Won't be coming back

Gabriel M.

Yelp
Very special place for me as my fiancé and I had our first date here. Been going for years and love their food, staff, and BYOB bottle so much. Perfect for date night or just a good meal with the boys. Absolutely love this place!!!

Diana G.

Yelp
Possibly my favorite italian restaurant in Hoboken! I've been several times and love the short rib agnolotti, burrata, salads, pizza. The giant meatball was my least favorite, it is very doughy and too much breadcrumbs. The pastas can be a bit salty but they are tasty. The best is outdoor dining during the summer underneath the real grape vines 10/10

Joanne T.

Yelp
Had a wonderful birthday here. Started with mussels, bread and Cesar salad. Everything was phenomenal. The Cesar salad had a nice spicy kick. The mussels were packed with flavor and the bread was perfect for dipping in the sauce. Ordered pasta with mozzarella balls. It was huge! Had to pack it up home. Also ordered a gelato, that the server brought over with a candle. Love it here!

Tyler M.

Yelp
Food was delicious. The short rib ravioli is a must try. The spacing between courses was a little fast, entrees came out immediately after the appetizers. However, it was still a great dinner.

Alex M.

Yelp
Food and service were fantastic. Highly recommend the pizza and pretty much everything else. And it's BYOB!!

Quiana W.

Yelp
I'm doing this review based on take out. I've been wanting to go and sit and eat here but have not yet. BYOB spots are few and far between in this area and this is one which is a plus . I ordered the eggplant and a Cesar salad for take out. Sounds boring... but it in fact was not! That eggplant was one of the best egg plants I've tasted. The eggplant was lightly breaded and piled high in layers with the perfect amount of sauce and just the right amount of cheese melted on top. It came piping hot. So hot that the restaurant might want to reconsider the plastic container it came in. The taste was so good! Now the Cesar salad .. that was great as well with cooked cloves of Garlic. The homemade dressing is phenomenal and has a kick to it. I'll definitely be returning to this place to dine in with my bottle of red wine in hand.

John B.

Yelp
This review is based on delivery just now. Felt ripped off. Prosciutto buratta app was laughably small and cost $21. Literally 2 slices of prosciutto and a tiny ball of buratta smashed in the middle of the plastic container. Eggplant parm was OK, but basically bland, and didn't come with pasta (maybe that's noted on the menu but I figured that's a standard for an Italian restaurant). Also the delivery didn't come with any bread which is puzzling with the burrata app. Overall underwhelming for a pretty costly delivery order. Wife said she liked the spaghetti squash, but wasn't wowed. We actually really liked this place when we came for dinner, so maybe it's just sub-par if you order. Might be hard to get past this experience to give it another shot, especially with places like Cafe Michelina and San Giuseppe in my regular rotation.

Shannon F.

Yelp
One of my favorite Italian spots in Hoboken! Love this BYOB restaurant, the pastas are incredible and so flavorful. The ambiance is very low key, a great place to get a hearty Italian meal and drink your favorite wine(you brought of course). Last night we had the smashed burrata, rigatoni alla vodka, espresso short rib raviolis, torteloni di manzo e Vitello and the black truffle marscarpone pie. Service is great and super responsibly Will definitely be back for more!

Gio G.

Yelp
Average ITALIAN food in my opinion Plus is that's a BYOB. Parking is a nightmare but it's expected in Hoboken

MichiganMan M.

Yelp
Food: 5 Everything we've ordered has been excellent! Aglio e olio is nice and spicy. The Veal Milanese is huge, and wonderfully dressed with raw red onions, fresh cherry tomatoes, peppadew peppers, and arugula. Plus, it's BYOB Ambiance 4 They don't take reservations, and wait can sometimes be in excess of an hour. Places within easy walking distance to grab a drink are few. They also need a vestibule to keep the frigid winter blasts away when someone opens the door (DON'T take a table near the door). Service 3 Waitstaff can be hit or miss. There is one waiter with a scraggly beard in a tshirt who is mediocre at best. However, there's another guy who has glasses and a short beard, always dressed in a long sleeve black shirt, who is fantastic. Also, while I understand they don't provide complimentary bread service, as they have a focaccia option for $7.50, it's ridiculous that they wouldn't provide bread with a $25 cheese plate. Are you supposed to eat the four cheeses by themselves? The few tartalli they provide aren't exactly great vehicles for the cheeses. Overall 4 Worth going to. Easily rivals any other Italian place in NNJ.

D H.

Yelp
Recommended by a friend, get there early to get a table. Smashed burratto was good, and main courses of bolognese, rigatoni with house made pearl mozzarella and limencello chicken were all good. Gelato scoops chocolate and lemon was surprisingly good. Will go back.

Lauren S.

Yelp
I have always been a huge fan of Otto Strada but this pizza was not what I expected at all. I ordered the Fontina & Fennel Sausage white pizza because I know they have good sausage and I love their food.. The Menu said carmelized red onions. These are sautéed chunky red onions. I imagined the sausage to be in pieces all over the pizza but instead I got sliced sausage and one piece of sausage per slice. I wouldn't say I won't eat here again but I was not impressed with this pie.

Nonya B.

Yelp
Great vegetarian options here. Great portions, great vibes, good service, good taste. We came at 9 o'clock on a Saturday and were told there was an hour wait but had a table in half an hour. The rigatoni was cooked well but lacked some flavor. The cacio e pepe was a bit mushy, not al dente, but had good flavor. I regret not bringing a drink here. The tiramisu tasted nothing like tiramisu but reminded me of a Good Humor bar. Yum! The quantity of food is worth the price, and we really enjoyed our leftovers the next day. Overall I think this is one of the better Italian places in Hoboken, and we will probably be back.

Matt M.

Yelp
Been to Otto Strada multiple times now and every visit gets better and better! We came a couple weeks back with another couple and had an amazing night. Big Props to George being super friendly and checking on us at every turn of the meal, and for providing some great recommendations. We started with the stuffed artichoke appetizer, the grilled octo, and the focaccia trio. Both phenomenal. I'm a sucker for a grilled octopus and white bean salad and these guys and gals absolutely nailed it. The stuffed artichoke sauce paired with the three amazing focaccia's (Rosemary, onion and tomato) is a must, you won't be disappointed. The star of the show for me was the Bee Sting pie though. Easily the best thing I had that night. I've had multiple pastas and meat entrees from Otto in prior visits but never a pizza so this was my first time. One of the best pizzas I've ever had, genuinely. Super original, authentic yet innovative. The spicy Soppresata combined with the jalapeños, peppadews, and honey drizzle, STOP IT RIGHT NOW. Bottom line, if you're looking for top notch Italian food combined with great service in Hoboken, look no further than Otto Strada. Easily one of my favorite restaurants in the area!

Isabella M.

Yelp
Amazing amazing amazing! I've been hearing such great things about Otto strada and have been trying to get there for months now. We finally decided to go on a Sunday afternoon and it's safe to say it was the best meal I've ever had in hoboken- the hype is real! The portions are huge so be ready to take home leftovers. Everything was authentic and just amazing. You can tell the pasta is homemade and fresh, fresh ingredients used in every dish too. I can't wait to go back because everything on the menu sounds amazing. What we ordered: Appetizers- smashed burrata and the grilled octopus with a bean salad 10/10 Entrees- they had a special for the evening which was an artichoke pasta 10/10!! (It also lasted me for 2 more meals during the week ) The eggplant parm with a side of rigatoni. The side of rigatoni was pretty big for a "side", it was just an actual portion lol. 10/10!!! It was HUGE Huge portions, fresh ingredients and amazinnnggg food. The best restaurant I've tried in hoboken for good authentic Italian food. Can't wait to go back.

Michael D.

Yelp
Best food we've had in Hoboken. Have lived here for a year. Everything has been great.

Maria S.

Yelp
My favorite restaurant in Hoboken! The food, the service, the ambience, everything. I've been coming here for years and it never disappoints.

Joe M.

Yelp
The FOOD is outstanding. Is it cheap? not exactly. But NOT extremely overpriced. It's well worth it. Just go & give em a try. You'll be back !! .....................................

April T.

Yelp
Food is delish!! This Italian restaurant is so cozy! They have a cute dining room with limited seating. They do enforce their 90 min rule which was the only annoying point of the visit.. Menu seems to heavily focus on pizzas but we were craving pasta. My mom got the branzino, I ordered the adult Mac and cheese (aka creamu truffle pasta), and they were kind enough to accommodate my dad's off menu request of angel hair pasta with cream sauce and shrimp. They serve a wonderfully warm rosemary foccacia with a fresh tasting olive oil (like you would get in italy!! Full of flavor!). It was a very nice dinner that is BYOB but once you get close to your 90 mins, the server definitely makes it known you should be headed out. In fact I got my bill without asking for it. We got the meatball pizza to go... I do feel like this is better executed on pasta, but the pizza wasn't bad.. I'll try one of their other pizzas next time and hopefully order and eat within their allocated 90 mins lol. Last tip.. we got the cannoli cones. For $15 these are not worth it! Skip this for a nicer dessert elsewhere as there are many Italian bakeries in the area.

Bloss C.

Yelp
I had a new menu item from Otto's that has been dancing through my head ever since, the Trofie Artichoke Pesto Pasta ($29, a homemade short, thin, twisted shaped pasta tossed with an artichoke pesto made with artichokes, pecorino Romano, basil, garlic, lemon, sea salt & EVOO; topped with a quarter of a stuffed artichoke). I have never even heard of the trofie pasta shape and it is amazing! Dishes like this is why I love Otto's so much and keep coming back again and again. Like every other restaurants, prices have gone up in recent years ($29 for pasta!!!!!!) but at least at Otto's you are getting unique dishes that taste amazing. I also was able to make two dinners out of the one dish, so there is an extra value in the portion size. Also its not on the menu, but if you are ordering takeout you can add the Focaccia bread they serve in the restaurant for $6.

Hunter D.

Yelp
Absolutely unreal! Best italian food in Hoboken! Definitely hard to get in to so go early especially on the weekends! Some of the host/hostesses can be a little rude at times when trying to get a table at the restaurant, but the food makes it all worth it! BYOB and you have to get the cannoli to finish the dinner!

Renee T.

Yelp
Love this place, I think I went 5 times over 2 months. Just get there early as it fills up real quick and BYOB. Waiters were lovely, food was delicious. Giant potions and very inexpensive.

Kylie N.

Yelp
Absolutely wonderful experience at Otto Strada! Came here for a date night and it was the perfect intimate space to dine. The place is small and they only take walk-ins. They do have outdoor seating and it looks so cute! Luckily we went on a Wednesday so it wasn't as packed as I'm sure weekends are though. Our waiter was very friendly and helpful. He let us know they are BYOB and that there's a liquor store nearby. We were able to pick up a bottle of wine and come back. He brought out bread and oil. I would have liked the bread warm but it was still good. As an appetizer we ordered the burrata and it was my first time trying it. I'm not that much of a cheesy person but my date loved it a lot. The prosciutto was really good so I had it with the bread instead. I like that it was coated with bruschetta sauce. So good! For entrees I ordered the bolognese and my date had the rigatoni with vodka. His did not come with meat so he ordered a side of breaded chicken. Everything tasted delicious. Definitely one of my favorite bolognese dishes. The portion sizes were HUGE too. We had to take it home because it was too much to finish. Prices are normal for pasta dishes. I would revisit for sure. The staff was really kind which I appreciate!

Philip R.

Yelp
A surprisingly adventurous and interesting menu, from what a friend had mistakenly called a frat-boy bar. Date night in a private greenhouse, with delicious food, prompt service and a BYOB. Sold! Wife ordered the branzini and a side of the homemade linguine, while opted for the beef short rib ravioli with an expression dust. Both plates were cleaned and if we'd had room that would have earned a dessert. Instead we opted to enjoy another glass of our own wine, in an unhurried and enjoyable manner. Had a chat with Nick the owner, a lovely guy who has time to chat with anyone and true Hoboken gent. Worth a visit and we'll be back.

Corinne W.

Yelp
Love the food, hate hate HATE the indoor tables. Their service stand is shared with the host stand and takeout so I had people hitting me in the head with their purses and an insane amount of noise that I could barely hear my partner across the table. I'll be back in the summer when I can sit outside and have personal space again. Their silly excuse: it's a small space. I know plenty smaller ones in town with an actual separate host stand at the front!

Rosalie C.

Yelp
I came here with 2 of my friends. The wait was an hour and 40 minutes but my friend swore the wait was worth it. She wasn't wrong! To start they give you complementary warm bread with olive oil. I got the capellini con pancetta y cavolini y funghi and my two friends both got the adult mac and cheese. My dish was rather simple; capellini with pancetta mushrooms and Brussel sprouts coated in pecorino and olive oil. Simple but very good. The adult mac and cheese was amazing. I slightly wish I got that instead. Our waiter was awesome. Overall a great experience. I'm definitely going to come back and try more from the menu. I love pasta but they have a pizza and meat dishes as well.

Betsy D.

Yelp
Large portions, yummy food, down home atmosphere. One of my sons favorite hoboken restaurants.
