10 of Montreal’s Best Casual Japanese Restaurants | Eater Montreal

"Right by Concordia in the city’s unofficial “other” Chinatown, Otto is run by Hanhak Kim and Hiroshi Kitano, who spent a decade working in Japanese kitchens in New York. The specialty is charcoal-grilled yakitori, and fittingly, all parts of the chicken are treated with the utmost respect, from the sweet soy-glazed tsukune (chicken meatballs) to a crispy skin yakitori option. If you can, order the chicken oysters, which are available in limited quantities. A dark piece of meat at the back of the thigh, it’s considered the best, most tender part of the bird." - Tiffany Chan

Google
We loved this perfect little Japanese bar/restaurant. The food is authentic and not expensive. They have a very reasonably priced selection of drinks, including cocktails. We liked the polite and attentive staff, good house music soundtrack and the relaxing atmosphere. This is a good place to eat or just to have some drinks before going clubbing later. I really wish this was my local!

Nathalie Pedro

Google
The food is good, the decor is nice, service is ok. I did not like the loud rock music though, very unusual in an izakaya restaurant. The buns with braised pork were cold and came with pickles, still very surprising. I am happy I tried it but it is not the kind of izakaya I am used to. So be aware of that when trying it. And no happy hour offered vs what says the black board. Still worth the try.

Tommy McGee

Google
The skewers were juicy & flavorful. Service was average. The interiors were nice inside, but the music inside could've been better. I wasn't a fan of the dance club music inside, I would've gone for more quaint quiet music, imo.

Jen Nguyen

Google
One of my go-to spot, great food and ambiance, sometimes the music is off tho (it was like a club vibe; quite loud and “beaty”instead of a chill pub resto). Their bao buns and fried squid tentacles NEVER miss !! so delicious every time, drinks are good as well and decent portion. They did increase the price $18 for 2 buns instead of $16, as well as the bibimbap, quite steep, but still within affordability.

Ashley

Google
Beautiful place but the skewers did not have flavour. It lacked salt. The short ribs were Smokey and good and the karaage was tender. The gyu don barely had any beef, like 9(?) slices.

AJM

Google
Good yakitori, the flavors were there but they served the skewers luke warm instead of just from the fire and that's a bit unforgivable, it ruined it a bit for me. The chicken karaage was delicious.

Queenie N

Google
Ordered the Otto set, beef tongue and truffle karrage. The yakitori was very plain, not much flavour. Beef tongue was super chewy. The karrage was good but it had no truffle flavour. Would just recommend getting normal karrage.

Stella Chen

Google
Ordered a bunch of skewers and the only noteworthy ones were the short ribs and chicken thigh with green onion. The short rib had the best char. The chicken thigh, chicken wing, unagi, beef tongue were all very bland.

Yelp
The Good: :: it's a local business! :: service is very friendly and attentive The Bad: :: the yakitori left a lot to be desired. they came out barely lukewarm instead of hot, they weren't charred at all (!!!), indicating they weren't actually cooked over hot coals (or maybe ANY coals), and they were flavorless. squid, hearts, gizzards, chicken, beef, etc...they were misses. the only way they were salvageable was by dipping any of them into the salt provided. totally blech. i only finished the meal because i was starving. all in was about $65 including a beer and i was extremely umimpressed The Ugly: :: none Would I go back? No, unfortunately not. The food just didn't convince me this is a place I'd ever want to return to. This place is OUT.

Yelp
This was fun and interesting to try...until we got the cheque. Apart from the fact that the waitstaff gave us the wrong cheque for a higher bill than we had ordered for, I ultimately would hesitate to go back because the yakitori can apparently cost a pretty penny. With that said, there's no denying that they have some tasty treats, like the tofu, buta, and unagi that pretty much melted in my mouth. On the other hand, there were some standout duds like the unforgivably raw Brussels sprouts, unimpressively chewy eggplant, and the unmistakably fishy...fish. I wish the menu had a description next to the fish that it's not a piece of tender cut of fish, but what looked to me like three oversized anchovies. Needless to say, it was not a good finish to an otherwise acceptable meal, complete with a lady running out breathlessly after us on the street outside the restaurant to tell us we had been overcharged. At least it was caught when it was caught and she apologised for the error. Ultimately though, this was memorable for several wrong reasons. I wish them well and hope they continue to improve.

Yelp
I visit once a year when I visit the area with my friend. It is recommended to reserve a spot in advance if you're worried about it being busy! There isn't a lot of space inside, but the atmosphere is cozy. I highly recommend getting the chawanmushi. It is delicious and my favorite dish here! My other recommended skewers would be to get the eel. It is soft and tender!

Yelp
Came here for our first night in Montreal and found this place was open late on a Friday night which was perfect since we arrived late. What we got: Grilled squid Duck with packed egg special Various chicken skewers Mushroom and okra skewers This place was pretty packed when we arrived and good thing people just left when we asked for a table so we were seated within a few minutes. Service was quick and the vibes were lively with locals. The skewers had nice char on them and even though they were simply seasoned with salt, they were still great! The squid and the duck were also good.
google avatar

Yelp
Food and service were hit or miss - some items were great, others were just not. Chawanmushi, buta bara, and all of the chicken skewers (all parts!) were excellent. Portion sizes varied wildly (see pics - the scallop skewer was especially humorous). Karaage was too breaded. Gyu don was totally flavorless - the beef was borderline raw, and there was no effort to cook down the onions in tare, either. We had to request soy sauce to give it some flavor. Very weird and not your typical gyu don at all. The duck was a meh for me. Wait staff were at times attentive, and at other times too focused on doing sake or whiskey shots with the frat boy table that was seated in the corner. The wait staff pours the drinks, and they vary wildly depending on who takes your order (our first highballs arrived in old fashioned glasses; our second round arrived in actual high ball glasses; consequently, the first round was half the size of the second round). Not really a fan of restaurants where staff is freely engaging in drinking during service. All in all, it was an almost-good meal that faltered in the execution and the service.

Yelp
Wow wow wow. I lived in Japan but also am such a picky eater. This was phenomenal... something for everyone. I dont eat a lot of meat out- and was able to get the Brussel sprout app, onigiri, and all the veggie yakitori. The only regret is that I didnt order a beer at the start!
google avatar

Max K.

Yelp
Great skewers and fried squid, would return. A fellow patron spilled our pitcher of beer on accident and the waitstaff promptly replaced it. Nice setting as well.

Yelp
Okay. This might be the best yakitori I've had in North America thus far. LOL. Each yakitori was simple and perfectly cooked. They not only managed to recreate the seasonings and simple marinades but also the exact smokey, charcoal taste. The squid was also the best squid I've ever had, and I dont even like squid that much ; it wasn't overly chewy and perfectly tender. Okay but Im also SO glad I got the Truffle Karage. It was the perfect fusion of French and Japanese cuisine. The karage was perfectly fried and its marinade was subtle enough to complement the non-overwhelming amount of truffle oil. As my bf says : "Yakitori and mac miller? What else can u ask for?" (The music was fuego)

Yelp
Absolutely LOVED our food experience here! Every dish tasted amazing; highly recommend the skewers! Our top favs were: Black Angus Beef, Buta Bara (pork belly), Kami (duck breast), Lamb and for a veggie option: Eggplant! The rest were also incredible but these were definitely the most mouthwatering. We also got the Tori Soup which wasn't too bad; a tad bit salty for my likings but my bf said it was just the right flavour! The restaurant is small and quaint but the perfect late night ambiance for a date night. The service was also excellent even tho it was fairly busy!

Yelp
Great food and service - everything came out fast and the waiters were attentive. My favorite thing there though was the octopus and fresh wasabi. Soooo good. But this appetizer was quite small. Still so yummy.
google avatar

Tiffany W.

Yelp
Came here for late night bites and drinks. We got the karaage, yakitori sampler and mango soju pitcher. The karaage was fried nicely but kinda misleading because there were balls of fried mashed potatoes mixed in so it's actually not as much chicken as seen in pictures. The yakitori had a nice grill aroma and flavour, but the food wasn't very hot. The chicken skin was chewy in some parts, and overall the yakitori was very mediocre. Mango soju was very light and just tasted like mango juice.

Yelp
The service was amazing the way Louis and his partner moved around was entertaining even The atmosphere, very convivial with other diners close by Whatever we ordered was delicious! Sorry, I didn't pay attention to what it was all called it might be because we ordered a pitcher of sake also smile

Yelp
Best Japanese food I've ever had, the service was great and I really like how they decorated the interior of their restaurant.

Yelp

Yelp
Otto Yakitori Izakaya serves perfectly charcoal-grilled Yakitori meats and other Japanese pub style fare. On the menu: * Pork Belly skewers (5 Pcs) * Momo (Chicken thigh) skewers (5 Pcs) * Spicy Karaage burger * Tonkatsu burger * Pork buns (Braised pork belly, pickled cucumber, red onions, scallion and Otto sauce)

Yelp
Delicious isakaya style food with excellent service! Had 5 dishes for 2 people. Tried the wasabi squid, truffle karaage, angus don, buns and 6 kushiyakis! Everything was tasty and not too salty! As good as the first timr we went many years ago.

Yelp
We came here during a blizzard, hoping to get some good reasonably priced food. We were also quite hungry as well. They offer a ton of skewers on their menu so we just ordered a whole bunch of different appetizers and skewers: - Grilled Marinated Short Ribs - Truffle Karaage - Otto Chicken Set (6 Skewers) - Lamb Skewers - Grilled Pork Belly Skewers The ribs were sweet and savoury, but were a bit on the dry side for me. Truffle karaage didn't have a strong truffle flavour. The batter was very crispy though! I found the addition of sweet potato balls to be odd for this dish, as it didn't really do much to accompany the karaage in terms of taste. The otto chicken set consisted of chicken wings, chicken thigh, chicken skin, white meat, chicken thigh with green onions, and chicken cartilage. The chicken skin was very delicious. As for the others, they tasted like regular chicken skewers, nothing special. They also offer lamb skewers, which were a bit tough for my liking. the pork belly skewers were juicy and yummy. I think overall, the food here is just alright. I probably would like to have seen a stronger taste profile on the yakitori skewers.

Yelp
One my colleague/friend invited me here with other friends! I checked out the restaurant thru yelp, and I was excited to try this place since then. What a cute spot! Decor is colorful. Love their menu too. My friend ordered the food, so we can share them as Tapas. From grilled vegetables, to grilled meats, to fried chicken with truffle, to bibimbap and to roasted ice cream; everything single item was A1! The flavors were magnificent! The music in the background was superb, from Abba, Michael Jackson to reggae music. In my head, I felt I was on my feet dancing throughout the evening. Lovely place to try!

Yelp
I walked by Otto Yakitori Izakaya while we were in the 'hood. It peaked my interest so I did a little research before deciding to check them out for Friday night dinner. We were able to grab a table without reservations although the place was bumping. Service is friendly and super efficient; just like it is in Vancouver. The menu is mainly grilled skewers (it is a yakitori after all) but there's also some fried, hot steamed and finisher items. They also have a special menu. Hours are sick! Open till 1:00am most days and 2:00am Friday and Saturday. - Otto chicken set ($16.00 for 8 skewers) - you get chicken meat balls, thigh, heart, skin and wing. An assortment to sample and perfect way to share. You can really taste the wood charcoal they use to grill their skewers. - Otto veggie set (12.00 for 6 skewers) - you get tomatoes, brussels sprouts, mushroom, lotus and zucchini. Whatever the side dip is called is soooo good. Awesome zip to it. - Geso furai ($5.00) - squid tentacles were crispy and nicely seasoned with a hint of heat. - Buta burger ($6.00) - this was surprisingly good. The bun was incredibly fluffy with a great sauce and tasty pork belly. - Otto curry rice ($7.00) - chicken curry. Nice to have some carbs with our meal. - Sot-l'y-laisse kushi ($3.50) - off their special menu. Chicken oyster wrapped in chicken skin. This was M's favourite. Cool spot with great food and reasonable priced drinks. Should have tried their homemade ice cream! Open late and gotta say, I love this area. Chinatown 2 just keeps getting better and better.

Yelp
We came here for dinner when we were in Montreal for the Grand Prix. The restaurant is quite small with somewhat limited seating. I would suggest showing up so on after the open or make a reservation. We ordered the Japanese Curry and Bibimbap. Both dishes were fabulous and extremely flavourful. We also ordered a side of lamb skewers and one of the specials which was bacon wrapped asparagus. Both tasted fine however, the bacons wrapped asparagus was not worth the money. $10 for the two little skewers which maybe contained one asparagus spear and one strip of bacon each. An incredible markup. Overall, we had a great time here and really enjoyed our dinner. Service was quick and efficient.

Yelp
I've been looking forward to try out Yakitori cuisine! Yakitori is actually a Japanese type of skewered grilled chicken and its preparation involves skewering the meat with kushi (a type of skewer typically made of steel, bamboo, or something similar). At Otto, far more than grilled chicken is to be offered, depending on your taste palette. You can find bite-sized pieces of chicken thigh, breast or for the more daring of us.... skin, heart, neck, liver or gizzard. Overall, I enjoyed every type of kushi brochette offered (some more than others!). The Japanese style of seasoning was a great initial Yakitori culinary experience for me. I definitely would recommend the chicken skin, was by far my favorite! For newcomers do try their meat sets found on the menu to enjoy a variety of meats. Pricing is fair but do expect the kushi brochettes to be a little on the small side (tapas style). So the cost can add up if you plan to eat your fill. Along with the meal, I went with a Truffle Sour drink. It was good... and extra sour like I like it. :) Our host/waiter was super helpful and friendly. Cute little resto. The whole experience was super positive and this is a great little spot for a bite/drink in the area! I'll be back for sure.

Yelp
We decided to come here after dinner because we wanted to get skewers particularly chicken skin! My top chicken parts were 1. Gizzard 2. Heart 4. Oyster (limited* chicken oyster is behind the thigh) 5. Liver 6. Skin The skin was completely fried, not what we anticipated. We thought it would be grilled. All the skewers were particularly salty which forced us to order beer. If you want to try something rich and full of chicken flavor, I recommend to order the chicken soup on a cold day.

Kornpanot K.

Yelp
The Uni and Ikura with steam egg was a small portion appetizer, delicious but too expensive. I ordered the Gyu Don and it was cold and bitter. I've never tested something like this before, and I don't like it at all. Not worth the price!
google avatar

Xue L.

Yelp
Food is good. We tried several skewers and my fave one is definitely the chicken skin. It's so crispy and flavorful. All the skewers have a nice smokey charcoal taste. The rest of the food were good, but the burger's bun was too dry and not soft enough and the truffle karaage didn't realy have any truffle oil taste. The place is small so it's better to reserve, especially if you go on a weekend. We went on a monday and we had to wait a bit. The service is quick except for the squid which took a long time to be served. The staff is nice and friendly and they came to refill our water several times. Overall it's a great place to hang out with friends and grab a few bites.

Jackson L.

Yelp
Called ahead to see if they had space, they said no reservation was available, they said they had space and to just coming right in, we planned our night around it, got there, waited about ten minutes to be told that they are fully booked. Go to otto on notre dame if you want a good experience, don't go here
google avatar

Yelp
If you're looking for an fun, lively restaurant open late serving delicious authentic Japanese street food, a long list of varied drinks and charcoal grilled yakitori look no further than @ottoyakitory.

Joe Y.

Yelp
We were looking for an authentic Japanese izakaya. This is not it. The menu includes mostly "Japanese," but also some Chinese and Korean, items. The staff, while nice, were not Japanese, nor were the chefs. Some of the food was OK. The best item was the brussel sprouts -- they are really good. But much of the meat tasted old, with an unmistakable defrosted frozen taste.
google avatar

Issan Z.

Yelp
I went there for a light dinner with my colleagues last week. One of us was not too big on meat, so we were hoping for some good vegetarian options. We arrived about 30 min after opening time, and the place was not very busy (only two other tables were occupied). The interior was very charming, with richly-coloured walls and cute wooden tables. The lighting was dim, so we picked the table with the brightest lamp. We each ordered an entree - three of us ordered the Otto salad, while I got the homemade tofu. We decided to share one set of 6 chicken skewers and one set of 6 vegetarian skewers. In addition, we ordered two chicken oysters skewers just to try. The food came fairly fast, and the skewers were absolutly delicious!! The vegetarian ones, which comprised of fried tofu, zucchini, cherry tomatoes, brussel sprouts (x2) and mushrooms, were especially good - it was like an ode to the Maillard reaction! The chicken ones were also very nice. It was great to see the use of different parts of the bird, instead of sticking to the same old legs, thighs, wings and breasts. The oysters (which are a well kept secret of the chicken anatomy) were plump and tender, and wrapped in a flavourful layer of chicken skin (which could have been grilled a bit more to let some oil out). Unfortunately, the homemade tofu was a bit of a let down. The texture was very grainy, despite the silky appearance. A finer mesh should probably be used during its fabrication. Note: Service was fast, but a bit simple. Questions about dishes were unsatisfactorily answered, and the four of us had to share two menus. Pricing was ok, but can probably go up very fast if ordering is enthusiastic.
google avatar

Victor A.

Yelp
Service is very good and fast. The BBQ grill taste delicious and authentic. It is a bar restaurant so the music and the environment is a bit loud, it is really up to the customer's preference. The squid taste soft and good, whereas the burger is a bit disappointing, because it looked a lot better and bigger on the menu photo. The only thing that taste yummy is the wasabi sauce, otherwise the other ingredients are ordinary. I'll recommend this restaurant more for the BBQ grill
google avatar

HanDan W.

Yelp
They gotta delicious beef tongue. A must try! We also loved their alcohol. Skewers are well-seasoned.Staffs are super friendly and attentive. The restaurant however is very small and packed. We were a group of 12 people and they had to add a small table on the side for us. If you are having an event, it will be better to reserve in advance. Their bathroom is also very small u might be careful to not stumble when you turn. We have spent around 30$ ( taxes and tips included) per person. If you don't order drinks 20$ might be enough. Since the restaurant is an Izakaya(Janpanese often go to Izakaya to have a drink with friends and coworkers after work), the portions are not big, so you might want to order some rice to feel full filling.
google avatar

Jennie D.

Yelp
The service was extremely long. We didn't get any glass of water upon asking. I would not come here ever again. The ramen was really salty! I couldn't even finish it. I was looking forward for it. The waitress was very nice and kind. Would not recommend this place for anybody. The food was cold!! So expensive for what we got. Not worth the price.

Yelp
A small cozy Japanese resto bar. It's usually quite busy, especially on weekend evenings, so a reservation is ideal! The menu is simple, and focuses more on meat dishes. We started off with some chicken karaage and some tsukune skewers (jap meatball). The karaage was fried and seasoned to perfection, being crispy on the outside and very juicy in the inside. We then tried their bibimbap and the chicken curry. The bibimbap was very delicious, which comes with flavourful minced pork and sauce, while their curry was simply okay, nothing amazing. I would have loved the curry more if it came with fried chicken instead. As for drinks, their sake mojito was very refreshing as well as their yuzu fizz! Overall, the food is simple and tasty with decent prices, which makes this a nice cozy spot to go for some drinks and quick bites with friends.

Jane D.

Yelp
This is a small place that is almost hidden because it's several steps up from the sidewalk, but we are glad we found it. The place is small but very popular. The food was excellent. The portions are average size, not huge, except for Bibimbap, which is very shareable. We would definitely go back.
google avatar

Anny T.

Yelp
A great little spot for a Japanese resto bar! I've been here twice in the evening and have never been disappointed. Good: It is a really cozy and dim environment, I've showed up both times without reservations and got seated right away. The service was quick, and dishes came out pretty fast too. The prices are very reasonable, I usually get the bibimbap here because it's my favorite in the city. Yakitori dishes were solid, 10/10 will order again. Bad: None. Bottom line: It's probably one of the better places to eat in the Concordia area, I'm usually not a fan of the restos in this vicinity, but I will make an exception for Otto!

Yelp
I came here because of the recommendation on Yelp. First impression is that the place is nice with all the decorations. Me and my friend ordered one chickens skewers set which has meat ball, liver, skin, thigh, wing and one more thing but I'm not sure what it is. Add to that, we tried one beef tongue skewer, a bibimbap and midori cocktail. The chicken set was fine, the chicken thigh was good but the others not really stand out. The beef tongue doesn't have any seasoning and yes of course it's chewy, so 5,5$++ for one beef tongue skewer not really worthy. The egg in the bibimbap has good looking, the seasoning is good but a little too oily. Maybe it's a japanese version so they add some stir fried onions to the spicy pork. Finally, for the cocktail, maybe it's the tastiest thing. It's creamy and refreshing at the same time. Totally, it's fine but not really worth it for 60$.

Ricky Boby L.

Yelp
Cute little restaurant, made me feel like i wasn't in mtl...but okay la We ordered a bibimbap,it was descent, but smaller and less ingredients than korean places. Also strange that they are a japanese restaurant and serve that. It was also more expensive than other korean places. The jap burger was dissapointing. The sauces were to empowering the flavors of all the other ingredients. Took the set of chicken skewers, they were okay, missing some kick to them and missing a bit of flavors. The chicken balls were totally dissapointing and nothing like the ones i ate in japan.they were Dry and small. This place is okay if you are really craving some skewers.its one of the only places in mtl that offers it.

Yelp
Went for lunch. Pretty solid yakitori. My favourites: chicken tail and skins. Very good. The thighs (w and w/o scallions) are also enjoyable. Not a big fan of the meatball and pork belly. Veggies were ok. The dinner menu looks far more extensive. Will try someday.
google avatar

Eric N.

Yelp
I was there for a late dinner last Thursday and the experience was rather disappointing. The beef ribs were way too salty and the yaki tori, some were also too salty and some were tasteless. The United steam egg and the tuna salad was better. The ambiance was ok and the service wasn't that bad. It is not my first time and it is definitely not my last time. They have potential and room to become much better. Hopefully I'll see the improvement next time I come :).

Yelp
It was late at night and we were trying to grab a quick bite to eat. This place was the only one still opened until 1am. It was kind of hard to find because it had a small sign and it was upstairs in a house ... anyways we entered and they had very small seating areas. We sat in the corner near the back bathroom area. We looked at the menu , and it had french, english, and Japanese which is cool. We started off with the grill chicken salad, Then the beef short ribs, and then the deep fried chicken on a bed of salad. The beef short ribs was the best among the others. We end up finishing all the plates because it was a small amount of them, due to this establishment being kinda like... drinking accompanying foods... anyways the chicken was mediocre, the beef short ribs is a 4/5. But im giving this an overall 3/5 due to the loud obnoxious table next to us keep staring and screaming loudly. No manners at all. Its too late to be that awake and loud. They need to go home lol

Yelp
This place is wonderful! The quality of the food was very high, I ordered bunch of skewers and each one exceeded my expectation. Servers were kind and nice although it was a busy time with a lot of customer. Their food was really good with hot sake too! The food was served relatively fast and delicious. I went there for lunch as well and had curry with fried veggie, and it was really good and served quick. I would definitely recommend people to go there for good food and drink.

Yelp
A rare gem of high quality affordable Japanese food in a city flooded with 7/11 style Japanese food. The place has achieved a masterful balance of Indy spirit and ethnic authenticity. Go get every variety of chicken skewer and try the chicken knee bone. Don't forget the rice balls - one of the best outside of Japan and not usually offered elsewhere. The chawanmushi is a must at every seating. You can't go wrong with any choice here.

Yelp
Had the chicken skewer platter and bimbimbap for my birthday dinner * Meat was tender, juicy and overall delicious. Very good quality. I never really feel disappointed with the meat at Otto. It's pretty great each time I go. * The bimbimbap was overall tasty as well, a bit pricey for the amount you get. I do wish they gave more. The egg broke really well. Loved it!

Yelp
First time try this resto. Skewers were so small that doesn't impress me at all. Gamjatang is salty and broth is fat. Tofu appertizer is plain and has no taste. The menu of resto has very limited choice compared to other isakaya resto. Food are not typical of Japan.

Yelp
We came here Sunday night for a birthday dinner and we were pleasantly surprised. We ordered the chef's choice plate: 10 different skewers, ranging from chicken wings to chicken liver. These were all delicious and well cooked. We also ordered the deep fried squid, which was by far, my favourite dish of the night. The squid was well cooked, the batter was nice and airy, and the flavor was spot on. The service was also friendly and efficient. The prices are very decent: 200$ for 6 people, including a pitcher of beer and 3 sakes. Everyone left satisfied. We really enjoyed our experience, however, a few things make it a 4 star, rather than 5: - the porkbelly was disappointing. It was chewy and bland - the Otto salad was good, but there was just too much dressing. I couldn't taste the egg or fish in it Overall, it's a good restaurant, especially if you stick to the skewers.

Yelp
Not a very enjoyable first experience at Otto, service was bad and we ignored by 2 waitresses at the entrance before getting seated by the third waitress. Ok food, nothing out of the ordinary. Order: - Otto Chicken Set (8 brochettes) - 2x Lamb - Buta Bara - Buta Burger - Otto Gamjatang Food: Food was ok nothing special. The skewers had a nice grill taste but were missing flavor.overall missing flavors. The lamb skewers had too much cumin on them. The Otto gamjatang is a twist on the korean version but not as spicy, the pork however was very tender and flavorful. The bowl is pretty big and should be shared. The buta burger bun was delicious! The piece of pork is rather small but this keeps the dish light and goes well with the other elements inside the bun. Service: Service was slow and inefficient. We waited at the door for 10 minutes trying to get the attention of the 3 waitresses working there. Two of them made eye contact and noticed the lineup but just ignored it and went back to running around. One of the waitresses even went through the lineup to serve food to the terrace but did not pay attention or ask try to seat the waiting customers. I do understand that we arrived at a busy time but the least someone can do is to address new customers. Once we were seated we were asked to move to another table to accommodate a bigger group of 6 which seem to know one of the waitress. The place is fairly small (about 14 tables + terrace) and there were 3 waitresses working. Overall it doesn't seem like there's any organization on how the service is done. Most of the time they're all running left and right without really making the service more efficient. Price: ~15$ - About 2$ per skewers and below 10$ for the main dishes.

Yelp
Service was bad. We went to the restaurant and all tables was empty. Only 4 people was inside. Well, she asked for the reservation and we did not have one. She offered to seat at the bar. Okay. The food was very salty and no taste at all. We just waisted our money and time.

Yelp
I went tonight after a long flight and I was looking for good food.I was extremely pleased, they had cold beer and an amazing Yakitori. The Chef special Yakatori is a must try and also the pork belly. It was my first time in Yakatori restaurant,I will definitively be back.

Yelp
For a spot specialized in yakitori I expected much more compelling grilled meat. At 2-3$ a pop, each skewer features a tiny amount of meat in some depressingly generic soy based seasoning. The chicken brown meat was good but let's be honest, even the worst cooks can't screw that up. On top of that: clunky service, mushy rice, incredibly hard to chew beef tongue and dry lamb meat. I was tempted to try many more menu items with a second order round but after realizing the first 30$ spent gave us no satisfaction we decided to bounce.
