There is no wonder this place has so many good reviews! The food is FANTASTIC! It was packed when we went for a Wednesday brunch — every table was filled, and as people left, more people came in. This restaurant has very high turnover which is a great sign. The menu has delicious vegetarian options which are clearly mentioned. We got the Veggie Griddler and Vegetarian Breakfast Burrito. Both were great but the Veggie Griddler was an exceptional stand-out. The sauce was fire. We really appreciated how they toasted both the bread and the tortilla for the burrito. This place clearly knows what they’re doing. The food took a little while to come, but understandably so because they were rockin’. The coffee was also quite good and clean tasting too. Highly recommend a stop here for some chill vibes and exceptional (& filling) food.

Ate there on Vacation with my family. The cashier and waitress was very friendly. Food was a little high priced. But it was tasty. Small eating area but had a cute vibe. Paintings,Art, stickers on everything.

So good! We came in on a Wednesday - it was burger day. The burger was delicious! My daughter is gluten free and dairy free and they were very helpful and accommodating to her needs. We will definitely eat here again!

I recently noticed Otto on the side of US285 while driving through the Town of Fairplay and decided to make a stop for breakfast. The egg sandwich that I had was very delicious and the hash brown was super crunchy but dripping oil. The only drawback was the price was on the high side even for the mountain. Apparently they are famous for their fried chicken and I would definitely make a point to try them out next time I am in the neighborhood.

$25 for a chicken sandwich + fries is highway robbery, which is apropos bc they’re literally right on the highway. Sandwich was okay - not bad but not remarkable at all. Ordered Cajun sandwich and fries. Spice was lacking. Wonder if these guys have ever been to Louisiana? Will say the staff was nice and service was quick.

Great little spot to grab a bite. The chicken was very good, crispy and juicy. The sweet tater cinnamon fries were excellent, albeit pricey. The staff were very friendly. Really enjoyed dinner and will return.

My BF and I both had 2 different chicken sandwiches. I had the Cajun chicken sandwich. It's served on a toasted brioche bun with lettuce and tomato. My BF had the hot honey chicken sandwich. It's served with toasted brioche bun with handmade coleslaw and your choice of blue cheese or ranch. Both sandwiches were perfectly breaded and fried. The chicken is tender and moist. The toppings are fresh and the sandwich melted in my mouth! This is an amazing chicken sandwich! The fries with the Cajun seasoning are fire and well cooked. We would give Otto's a 4.8 stars for food and quality. The only thing that would have made it better was the price. We paid almost paid $50 for 2 sandwiches and a basket of fries without drinks.

Road trip decisions. On our way to Montrose, needed a lunch stop. Otto’s had good reviews as was on our way for the time of day for lunch. I ordered the original chicken fried sandwich with a basket of fries (I shared). After ordering at the counter, I found a table for 2 inside. Filled up on water and waited less than 10 minutes for our food to be delivered to our table. I am not a fan of dill pickles, however the sandwich was created with about 3 or 4 that were fresh and more cucumber adjacent. I bought a t-shirt before I left. Bathrooms were clean and artsy.

Otto's is always great. Breakfast burritos at any time of day, yummy fried chicken sandwiches, good fries. Love it! Otto's also does a solid takeout business, and you can call ahead for it. It can be a little crowded around dinner time on weekends, so plan accordingly.

Yes, the chicken sandwich is excellent. So are the fries. Be prepared for a queue and to wait a bit for your food. Everything is made to order. The 3 Otto's hot sauces are very flavorable. The service is very friendly. There is plenty of seating. - paper napkins - no beer

We stopped here to get BLTa to take with us on a backpacking trip and they were excellent! Service was very friendly and quick too.

All things considered, the best chicken sandwich I've had! another in my group said the same about the Philly Cheesesteak. This spot is great. I bought a bottle of the "Creole" hot sauce. The only nitpick I could give is the lack of umberella outside at the picnic tables. Incredible food!

The vegan burrito here is good. It's got a lot of different components. Wasn't too spicy even with the jalapeños. Surprised to actually feel like I got an actual fully conceptualized vegan meal in Fairplay. I'm going to eat this burrito approximately another 1,000 times.

This place is an epic must-visit in the quirky town of Fairplay. The chicken sandwiches lived up to the hype and the staff was very cool. Dogs are welcome on the patio and they were even given treats with owner approval. It was a nice crowd patiently waiting and we spoke to some cool families while we ate and waited. We definitely look forward to a return on our next trip through the area. Flavor was good on the Cajun style sandwich, fries were great and it was BIG portions, piping hot. What's not to love? Parking is tough, so come early or wiggle in somewhere.

Breakfast for the win here in this super positive space! Stayed in Jefferson but drove through this town on the way to Breckenridge/Idaho Springs. So happy we stopped. Open on a Monday (thank you!) which is always a challenge to find. Great vegetarian choices for my one. Cheese quesadilla for the picky one. Plenty of options for the rest of us. I was so torn on what to order-famous chicken sandwich or the breakfast burrito. Ordered the burrito, filled me up for the entire day!! I'll have to try the sandwich on another adventure.

Still dreaming about their spicy chicken sandwich. Perfection. Spice mild & flavorful, coleslaw, perfectly crispy chicken & dripping with homemade ranch. Sooooooo good. Service was great & fast - friendly order at the counter & they bring the food to you. Spot for filling water at the counter was perfect before our hike. Outdoor picnic tables or a few tables inside that can seat 4 at a table. We were a group of 7 so we sat outside. Bathroom out back. Small parking lot. There was a consistent line the whole time - I can see why!

What a gem! We visited Otto's twice on our recent trip to Salida. Great service and fabulous food. We'll be back!

Best chicken sandwich of my entire life. And my whole family feels the same way about it. I've got two teen boys - which is basically the same as eating with a professional food critic and they were both stoked on the food. Also the customer service was outstanding. The guy who took our order was so cool and welcoming. Well done yall.

Wow! We found this place by accident. There were 9 of us after a 14'er climb. The food, outside seating and GREAT service were fantastic. Some said the Fried Chicken Sammies are the best - and I must agree. This will be our stop into Fairplay every time now.

Absolutely delicious! Chicken, cheesesteak, boneless wings, fries - regular and sweet potato, and one incredible vegetarian burrito! Great service and cute little place!

Really great place. Love the vibe for sure. Everything is fresh and the employees are kind and helpful. One of our favorites is of course the original chicken sandy, regular fries. The house sauce is the real winner and their pickles are the real deal. Only downside is parking is not great, if you wanna eat there not too many places to sit (we usually take ours Togo) and it's pricy. However that's to be expected unfortunately in a mountain town :( Finally 5% discount if you pay cash!! Kudos Otto's!!! In a sadly cashless society we love to support a business that still values a cold hard dollar :)

A reliable little stop in Fairplay. The waiter was pleasant and the Bacon Breakfast Burrito was tasty...washed it down with a good cup of coffee. A little pricey, but it was a tasty breakfast!

You can never go wrong with a hamburger unless they fry it to long. It is what it is. I thought kind of pricey for a hamburger but again it is what it is, Enjoy.

A small place with a big taste! You order up at the counter and they have a few tables inside as well as outside for seating. It was our first time and so we naturally ordered a little bit of everything. We tried the Otto's special chicken sandwich and oh my gosh, you have to try it. Full of taste. We had the Philly cheese steak and it was a little different from what were use to, a hint of sweetness but nonetheless it was good. Now let's talk about the hot honey boneless chicken wings... mouthwatering. Until now I thought I didn't like hot honey but they proved me wrong. We had the hot honey chicken sandwich too and of course it was delicious. Fries were fried just perfectly. We ordered the BLT but by this point I was too full, however my brother said it was the best BLT he's had. Beverages come separately and sold in bottle/can ( no fountain drink). Kids menu is available and the portions are large. I have a 7 year old who could only eat half his cheese quesadilla. Staff were supper helpful and friendly. The place was clean, bathroom is located outside and around the corner.

I have to say I was not expecting this quality of food in the middle of nowhere Fairplay. I had the Hot Strami sandwich and it was magical. The pastrami was a little spicy and had absolutely zero fat in it! The meat to bread to coleslaw ratio was perfect! The fries were hot and crispy! The menu was much more diverse than I had anticipated. I wanted to try so many things but I'm happy with what I ate. Be prepared to spend a small fortune for this food. A sandwich, French fries and can of soda cost me $27. Despite the price, the place was packed. It's a small building with seating for 15-20 people maybe? And the parking is very minimal but aside from that it was a very good meal.

Excellent food. Excellent service - we wanted to eat while hiking, and to keep the buns from getting soggy, we asked for them on the side. I visited 6-7 while in FairPlay, and their entire menu was delicious.

Great place for sandwiches, and they serve breakfast all day. We were a little surprised at the average $15 price for a sandwich without fries in such a small basic spot. But our pastrami sandwich was amazing and the side of fries yummy. There are a few tables inside and also outside. The chef came to ask if we enjoyed our food and was super friendly!

Cozy little spot! Dropped by as we were passing through because a friend highly recommended it. Felt and looked clean, smelled amazing! Staff was super friendly and helpful! And tasted even better! The sweet potato fries were crispy and perfectly seasoned. We got the Colossal Cajun Sandwich - fantastic. Portion size was great for cost. Chicken was seasoned and cooked to perfection. Will come back EVERY time! These guys do it right!

Had the hot honey chicken wrap- the monthly special and I'd like to petition to have it added to the menu. Perfect mix of hot and sweet with cool fixins. The cinnamon sugar sweet potato fries are top notch and the frosting dip was delightful! Just delicious all around!

Driving through the mountains in Colorado and was hungry. Didn't see much but then spotted a small place on the side of the road with 12 people outside. Pulled into a small parking area and walked in to a counter where you order. It was lunch so we skipped the delicious sounding breakfast burritos and decided on an Original Chicken Sandwich, Hot 'Strami, and Cheesy Bacon Cowgirl Fries. The latter was a large platter of excellent, crispy fries with melted cheese and bacon, a special ranch sauce and a side of sour cream. Very good. The chicken sandwich was large breast meat on a bun with dill pickles and a honey butter. Superb. The pastrami sandwich was thin sliced meat, a great coke slaw with heat, Swiss cheese and their special sauce. It was also very good. Place your Oder with a very efficient counter girl, pay, then grab a seat on the outside picnic tables. They bring it out to you. Overall great lunch, a little pricey but what isn't now.

Heaven touched my lips here, tonight. The best way I could describe this place is like finding a haystack in a pile of needles. I was carted to this unsuspecting location and shortly discovered the Atlantis of chicken sandwiches. In this day and age, Otto's location stands head and shoulders above the leviathan of monopolized convenience chicken. I was shaking with all of my hedonistic might after inhaling the bun, coleslaw, chicken, and participating sauces. I'll be back.

Running through The Rockies heading towards Durango, hard to find places to eat so once we got to Fairplay and saw a possible breakfast place we stopped. Ended up getting some chicken sandwiches instead, and they were terrific. It only took about 3 or 4 minutes for the 2 sandwiches to come out along with our order of Cajun fries. My Grandpa got the original chicken sandwich and I got the hot honey one and we both loved it. Probably one of the best chicken sandwiches Ive had, but I do know that the Cajun fries were probably the best ive had, especially along with Garlic and Herb dipping sauce. Everything was crispy and delicious. The staff were all super nice too, especially the guy at the register. One of if not the best places ive gone during my travels. Everything about the place was awesome, its to bad I dont live around here for it. Ive never written a review before but this place was worth every penny.​

Only on rare occasions do I wish I had the ability to leave more than 5 stars. Otto's is truly a local gem. My wife and I stayed in Fairplay for our honeymoon and ate here almost every day. If you're passing through town or staying nearby you should absolutely take the time to try this place!

We stopped here on our way to the Western Slope based on the reviews. They didn't disappoint. We had the Mountain Cristo. Great food, friendly staff and some pretty nice music.

Food was absolutely amazing and most items are gluten free or can be accommodated. The fried chicken sandwich was off the charts! A must stop! Staff was fab also!

We always drive through Fairplay and never stop. But today we needed lunch. Ottos could not have been better. The staff was top notch- so helpful and friendly. Pair that with some perfect fried chicken, and you've got yourself a new road-trip favorite. Get the fries. Get the side of ranch.

Amazing food! We shared the boneless bites, a SIDE (huge) of Cajun fries, and a special sandwich. It was all amazing. Forget about ketchup and just order a couple extra sides of the best ranch you'll ever eat. Staff was friendly and our pup enjoyed being able to hang with us on the patio as we ate. Chill atmosphere and excellent food, what more can you ask for?!

Amazing the owner's wife has celiac so almost entire menu is gluten free. Separate fryers, very knowledgeable about Gluten free and cross contamination. Incredible buns and just seriously good chicken. Got the Cajun style sweet potato fries too. So good I ordered a sammy to go with me thank you Otto's

Love this little sandwich shop on the north end of Fairplay on Hwy 285. I had a phenomenal Reuben sandwich and unbelievable sweet potato fries. The hospitality was wonderful,as well. This is the place to stop for a bite!

Okay this is THE CLASSIC roadside restaurant that you gotta stop at if you're passing through. I got the Mountain Cristo without the sausage and let me tell you it was AMAZING. sweet, spicy, and savory all in one. I've never seen blueberries on an egg sandwich before but hey it worked. It had me dancing in my seat! Inside is small but comfy and they were playing great music. All around a good time.

Best damn chicken sandwich in Colorado. I could eat the cajun fries all day everyday they are so perfect. You must try the special dilly sauce. Everything hit the spot!

Yelp to the rescue again! We enjoy traveling, but with the cost for food we want to make sure that we enjoy our meals. Based on the reviews we came here. It was crowded but they get you through pretty quickly. Everything is made to order, so times vary. We had enough to take back for a snack later. The chicken was cooked well, crunchy but not dried out. The fries were the same.

Best chicken sandwich of my life!! Incredibly crispy, juicy and flavorful!! We got the original, the hot honey, and the special sandwiches along with a basket of fries and our group had only crumbs left. Fries were very crispy and fresh too! The workers were so friendly and restaurant was clean! Come here if you want good fried chicken!! I'll be driving from Colorado Springs to come back here just to eat this again! 10/10

Decent food. Not the best chicken sandwich I've ever had, but definitely good. However, most definitely NOT worth $30 a person. For what this place is, it extremely over priced. Friendly service. Small dining room (seats about 20) but does have outdoor eating areas. Music was obnoxious and played too loudly. If it didn't cost so much, I would definitely go back and try other items. But I can't justify $30 for a quick lunch just for myself.
