This is my first time to experience a shelter. For the most part the staff are polite, and they do great for the homeless in preparing them to re-eneter society. The only things I would really change are... 1) the menu ingrediants. Probably about 75 percent of the meals provided are much to spicy for myself and many others who cant deal with spicy foods. I understand the food served is donated, but i wish they would hold back on the peppers and other hot seasoning they use. Many times we are ironically left hungary at night just because we couldnt handle the food. 2) They recently started closing the dorms of weekends, just like they do during the week. I understand this is a for of "punishment" for some, but I do not believe this is fair to those of us who work hard during the week, have jobs, and would just like to rest on the weekeneds. Weekends are not even a time when much can be accomplished, jobs can't be found and weekends, and it just makes for an uncomfortably crowded experience on weekends. Not all of us who work are privleged enough to be in transition and able to rest when we need. Altogether, ODB is a good place.

Called over multiple days and never got a response from anyone. Finally just just showed up and did the Intake. Came back the next day and it was a huge problem!! Showing up without your bs little card they gives you gets you yelled at in front of the crowd, marched through the building, and denied all services. So if you are a person who forgets things when they haven't eaten for 2 days, don't waste your time showing up there. You will be humiliated and kicked out

I thought I would be safe there but Ken started conspiring with Herman Murray jr to try an force me into the transition department knowing by doing so I could obort my Destiny....WOW...the mind games you tried to play April 14-23 was a disgrace. Shame on everyone that participated.

It is an okay place, but it seems that they don't really offer the services that they say they do. A lot could be done to improve the friendliness of the staff and the cleanliness of the place

Some of the staff are GREAT, but there are some who are very condescending, prejudiced, insulting and unnecessarily RUDE. Most of the time I was at ODB I was freezing even though it was summer, but I couldn't get a extra blanket . They say the budget is too small, but they spend so much money on freezing everyone. There are no planned activities to occupy your mind and no access to them unless you go somewhere else. Most of the clients would love to have something to do. They have TVs but don't make use of them therefore there is no news, weather, sports or music. Why couldn't there be classes from dance to history, economics English, Spanish, manners, hygiene, appropriate behavior etc.? The food occasionally was good, but mostly inedible and a mystery. There was never any salt. Some people have a salt deficiency and even low blood pressure. If you have been told to limit your salt intake that should be the individual's responsibility. They shouldn't withhold it from everyone. If there's not enough money for good well balanced meals then have a fundraiser.

Hate to say as a traveler. Nomad... It was better when it was at the old location. No security but did have a volunteer PD. Office that location was laid back,, the new one is to strict.. can't even take walking sticks in,., there is a reason why I travel and sleep out alot,,,

People bring donations here all the time in the form of clothing and food, and the shelter confiscates them and doesn't hand them out. Blankets are not allowed. Outside food is not allowed. Feels depressing to be here. They need to hire people who have had experiences with homelessness, not privileged people who enjoy telling others what to do.

The Shelter Director COO and security staff are very ungodly and the comments they said and I quote them on this we don't care about the Mental health and we don't care if you're mentally ill or disabled and we don't really care about the homeless at all and there's are two security officers Mark and Javier who are not cut out for the job of Security and they only took this job because they are not cut out to be Denton Police officers

Yelp
Food is not even edible. I realize they are feeding the homeless, but they need to provide something that doesn't look like it came out of a trash can. I recommend they cook soups. Bullion is cheap and goes a long way.

Yelp
Our Daily Bread is definitely one of my favorite non-profits, and I love working with them. They are run by passionate and intelligent people who truly make a difference in the lives of so many Dentonites! Please do your best to volunteer or help out their mission of feeding & taking care of the homeless in our area. Our Daily Bread provides two hot meals every day to anyone in need. You don't have to be homeless, just in need of a meal. They also provide a free 'market' where people get to take fruits, vegetables, bread, and other misc. items with them. They provide hair cuts, counseling, and warm clothes to the community. I personally feel that this blessing of an organization saves lives every single day. During the summer they have events and even help families out with back to school items. Most of their staff is volunteers and always in need of help. Volunteers do things like drive to pick up donations, cook food, serve food, clean, and take care of people who come in. On Monday nights kids can help out as long as an adult is with them. I have taken kids and it is always an experience that helps put things in perspective and realize how lucky I am. Please consider helping out Our Daily Bread by either volunteering or donating money. Everyone there is super nice and appreciative of you taking the time. Help make Denton a better place and help those in need find shelter and resources to continue on.

Yelp
The people who work at this pantry are amazing, caring, concerned, God-filled helpers who got me through a very rough patch. I thank God that they were there when I needed them.
