Out There Coffee is a gem in Cape May! My wife and I stopped in for a quick coffee break and loved everything about it. She ordered a matcha, I had an iced latte, and we also picked up a pound of their organic house blend beans (roasted just a few days earlier). Everything was fresh, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the staff couldn’t have been friendlier — everyone behind the counter was genuinely kind and helpful. As someone who’s very particular about coffee and usually makes it at home with organic beans, I was impressed not only by the quality but also by the fact that it’s organic and still so reasonably priced. They’ve got a nice variety of drinks, and while I’d love to see the snack and pastry selection grow, the coffee itself is clearly the star here — and they really deliver. Highly recommend if you’re in Cape May!

I had their cappuccino and enjoyed it. It was good/standard. I was a little surprised their 8oz included two shots of espresso, but that's not a bad thing). Just be aware it may be stronger than a cappuccino elsewhere. With a stronger coffee to milk flavor profile. They had a nice variety of hot non-coffee drink options (eg golden milk, chai, matcha, other unique blends) and I appreciate they noted on their menu which had sweeteners and which did not. I didn't have any food, so can't comment on it's quality. They had protein balls and muffins from what I saw this morning. They seem to have a smaller food selection than other cafés in the area. I was just there for the coffee, but keep this in mind if a large food selection is important to you. Friendly and personable staff. It was about 0730 on a Sunday when I visited and it was a very short wait. As time approached 0745, a line formed. The cost is pricey by everyday standards, but on par for a beach town and similar to other cafés in the area. Their default is to serve in paper cups for hot beverages, but if you are dining in and specifically ask for a mug, they'll accommodate your request. Of note, based on the size of the mugs I saw, this may only apply to 8oz drinks. They have a nice bench inside that usually is for those waiting for their orders to be fulfilled, but since it was pretty empty during my visit, they didn't mind my reading there while drinking my coffee for 15 or so minutes. Eco-friendliness is an important factor for my patronage, so I was very pleased and appreciative that they had this option. Will definitely visit again.

Google
The best! Great service and coffee. The “Healthy Cacao” with espresso might be an all-time favorite drink

Google
Carried out some coffee and snacks. Lots of options available. Also has a cute corner with merch. Quick and easy. Would come back for sure.

Google
Great experience, the coffee was great. The iced coffee and go getter coffee were really good! I also enjoyed the blueberry muffins! There isn’t a place to sit, it’s a grab and go place, that’s the only downside. But the coffee and pastries were delicious

Google
What an amazing little coffee shop! Highly recommend the Peppy Monkey but substitute dark chocolate sauce for the caramel. It was the perfect combination and not too sweet. We also tried the hibiscus iced tea and iced coffee! Nothing was too sweet and the employees were very nice and worked quickly for the amount of customers that were in there.

Google
I recommend the Healthy Cacao (add espresso) and the Lumberjack! I’m really picky about going out for lattes. This place made me happy and I’m on my way back home now planning how to make a Health Cacao at home! It’s that good. People working inside were extremely kind!

Google
This is our favorite coffee shop in CM. The drinks are always delicious and the vibe of the place is warm and inviting. The owner is super friendly and very knowledgeable about coffee so my very meticulous coffee loving boyfriend likes to talk to him. Definitely give it a try!

Yelp
I'm giving this place five stars despite the fact that they don't serve breakfast sandwiches, which is really what I wanted to pair with my latte. But that speaks to how delicious my latte was. It was so good. SO GOOD. So smooth, so perfect. The whole time I was drinking it I kept remarking how tasty it was. My husband got a dark roast coffee which was very dark roasty and just as advertised. The staff were very friendly, too. I'd absolutely get my coffee from Out There every single day for the rest of my life.

Yelp
Coffee was one of the better cups I've gotten. I like that they offer "whole food" smoothie options for clean eaters. Location just off the Washington mall and nice service

Yelp
Delicious and friendly. Went many times during our weekend vacation. Bigger sizes would be a plus though!

Yelp
The BEST coffee in Cape May!!! Well, I didn't try all the coffee shops, but I trust my Yelpers and this is what they said. So, this is where we came and THEY WERE RIGHT! Did I tell you I'm a coffee connoisseur? Well, I LOVE good coffee and I like mine strong/dark/bold. They have so many options I recommend you pull up the menu and become familiar with your options before you arrive. You can get your coffee hot or cold. OR, you can grab a smoothie. I had the Lumberjack and it was perfect! You know when you order something and you're nervous it wont meet your expectations? That will NOT happen here. You can also grab a hat/shirt/sticker/coffee mug or something to rep the shop. It's a nice place and I'm glad we found it. It was almost exactly 1 mile from our hotel and we walked to it every morning. You can also grab a muffin, stroop waffle, little bundt cake or snack.

Yelp
Lumberjack Latte was unique and just the right amount of sweet with maple syrup. The Americano light roast espresso quad was good. We never have seen light roast espresso offered. We also got the peanut butter ball and cranberry orange muffin. $20. I loved the little sticker they put on the cups. It kept me from getting sand in my coffee while strolling the beach.

Yelp
Fantastic. No fuzz, attentive service. Beats the quality of several fancy coffee spots in New York City.

Yelp
I love love love this coffee shop. I didn't think NJ had local coffee shops like FL did but I was wrong. I am so happy I found this gem in Cape May. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is due to the hours. They aren't open every day only Thursday through Monday. However , it is definitely worth the wait for good coffee and customer service. Every time I order my drink, I always request it to be more sweeter and the staff always ensures that my drink tastes good and is willing to add any sweetener if needed. I appreciate the patience and kindness of this staff. Also the baked goods are so delicious. I recommend the cinnamon swirl baked good.

Yelp
Good java and fast and friendly service. Good selection of coffees and shakes! Gets packed fast so that's always a good sign something good is happening here.

Yelp
Got an amazing smoothie and an espresso. Amazing service, great location, tasty drinks and great vibes. Will be back!

Yelp
Awesome staff, perfect oat milk latte. Recommend!!

Yelp
This is a fantastic coffee shop. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The coffee and tea are really high quality. I loved the London Fog tea latte and chai latte and my wife enjoyed both iced and hot coffee options. This is the kind of coffee shop that you find on a vacation and you stop looking for other options.
google avatar

Yelp
Delicious coffee, helpful staff, great experience! I had a wonderful mocha latte and bought a bag of beans to grind at home and (based on staff advice) I picked a low acid bean which I've since made into terrific coffee!
google avatar

Yelp
What a great coffee shop! We were staying in the area nearby and needed a good AM coffee shop and found Out There Coffee. Very impressed! Great coffees and flavors with very friendly and accommodating staff. We came in with a group of 10 and they churned out all the drinks with ease. Be sure to try their most popular drink: The Lumberjack which is essentially a maple latte. We've gone back 3 times since staying for weekend!
google avatar

Stephanie L.

Yelp
So many different coffee and drink choices here. There is an extensive menu of flavored coffees and matcha. I decided to try a plain latte and it was made well. They also have a nice variety of baked goods to pair with your coffee! Not much space inside for sitting so this is more of a to go place.
google avatar

Mini D.

Yelp
Excellent products! I had a hot drink with turmeric, ginger & chia spices & a banana nut smoothie! I also got a energy ball. My husband got the wrong order (he ordered London fog but got lumberjack & a banana berry smoothie. It was all very good. It is not a place for you to hang out inside but still it does have a comfortable bench to sit while waiting for your drink

Yelp
This coffee shop is perfectly located in the center of town. It was an easy walk from our rental, so we loved stopping here during our morning stroll. The owners were very friendly, and we enjoyed getting to know their story. The coffee and donuts were delicious. We would recommend to anyone visiting Cape May!
google avatar

Elaine D.

Yelp
Great coffee, friendly service! Will def return again. Ordered the light brew and the almond loaf...both were excellent1

James W.

Yelp
Best coffee shop I've ever visited. Try their lumberjack or their London dog next time you go.

Yelp
Wonderful place! You can smell the coffee as soon as you open the door. I had a delicious latte. Fair pricing and prompt service.

Yelp
Prime coffee hours on a beautiful Sunday morning, after a long night of enjoying beautiful Cape May, Yelp led us to this gem! The line was long, literally out the door, but move quickly. The baristas were pleasant and quick. Don't let the line scare you away! The coffee is worth the wait.
google avatar

Yelp
So refreshing to encounter outstanding customer service, and I loved their selection of non-coffee drinks! Glad I came across this spot on my morning walk.
google avatar

Yelp
Best coffee in Cape May hands down!! Highly recommend!! If you like sweet, the Iced White Chocolate Mocha is the best!

Marissa C.

Yelp
Fantastic healthy options and variety here. Coffee was very good. Small place but great location and was perfect for grab and go.

Ally S.

Yelp
Great coffee, friendly service, and delicious smoothies! Also lots of gluten free pastry options!
google avatar

Yelp
Im probably going to be the only one with a negative review judging by the ratings, and I'm not going into much detail because the baristas and staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. Alas, the cold brew was extremely disappointing and bizarre: it tasted also like wine with a peculiar fermented taste. The sweet cream espresso was sickeningly sweet (probably my own fault because it is what it says, espresso and condensed milk). Overall, quite a let down: the standards for shore coffee vs back in my town are very different. It's going to be hard to find a place with the passion and art that goes into brewing the perfect cup!
google avatar

Jamie M.

Yelp
While wandering around Washington Square Mall, we came across this cute little coffee place. I'm not a huge coffee drinker but saw they served hot cider. We decided to get small hot apple ciders (8oz) and they were like $2 and some change. We got our orders quickly and they even warned us that the ciders were super hot and to be careful drinking them. Everyone there was nice and our cider hit the spot!

Yelp
Great local coffee store with a variety of gluten free baked good options. Give this place a try - they have a wonderful selection of coffees, teas and baked goods. The staff is great and knowledgeable and can make good recommendations.
google avatar

Courtney K.

Yelp
Bottom Line: Tasty coffee, friendly staff and a cute interior. My husband needed a little caffeine boost to make it through the rest of our Washington Street Mall shopping trip so we stopped in Out There Coffee which is located just across Ocean Street at the end of the Mall. The coffee shop is really cute and and the baristas were friendly. My husband got a black coffee and I asked for my coffee to be jazzed up with a little pumpkin and half and half. The barista asked me to look at my coffee and weigh in on if the color (i.e. amount of half and half) looked right. I'd never been asked about the color anywhere and it was so thoughtful! Out There is following all the state and CDC guidelines for COVID so we felt good about visiting this business. Also a feel good moment - reading the story of the owners on their website.

Yelp
Great coffee and muffins that make this a hidden, literally, gem right in front of you near the ACME in Cape May.
google avatar

Elen D.

Yelp
Great espresso and even have light and dark options. They also have many dairy alternatives rather than just one. We stopped in quickly this time but will definitely be back. Update-went back the next day and went inside myself this time (yesterday my fiancé did). The baristas were so sweet and friendly, the store is really cute with items to peruse and shop if you'd like, and yummy baked goods. Allergy friendly with many GF options.

Hillary B.

Yelp
Highly recommend this local shop. If you like a good story and an excellent cup of coffee with a wide variety to choose from this is the place. From coffee to smoothies to energy bites and gluten free options this place should definitely be on your list of places to visit. Friendly staff and owners, clean store and good vibes only!

Wendy A.

Yelp
Spent the weekend in Cape May and stopped here twice to warm up with a hot beverage. The London Fog was the second best I've ever had (LOVE my hometown coffee shop's version, so it wasn't really a fair competition ), and really enjoyed their signature drink called Lumberjack Latte. It was lightly sweetened with maple syrup and creamy from the steamed milk and perfect for sipping as we wandered through town in February. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Elise K.

Yelp
Such an amazing coffee shop in Cape May! Came down for the day since we couldn't make our annual family trip due to COVID - we talked about returning here our entire 3 hour drive. Everyone is so pleasant. They offer healthy baked goods and an AMAZING drink menu, truly something for everyone. Can't say enough good things. Love getting an iced superfood latte, but can't beat a classic espresso drink - today I got a London Fog with almond milk, amazing as expected from here!
google avatar

Kris S.

Yelp
Impressive! This place has more options than you could possibly imagine! The staff was extremely friendly, and willing to assist you with decisions if needed. Definitely a great spot to stop for coffee, iced coffee, lattes, tea, etc. And even more!!!
google avatar

Robb M.

Yelp
Excellent coffee right in the middle of town. Excellent coffee and specialty drinks. Friendly service, and worth the wait when there are lines on weekends after 8:00 AM.
google avatar

Amanda C.

Yelp
Freakin awesome coffee shop in Cape May! It's been years since I've been to cape may and I was really happy to see some new, alternative faces! Seeing other people with tattoos and piercings made me feel less out of place and their kind, attentive, customized service was the cherry on top. We went both days on our two day trip AND we bought tshirts! We love them and they're an absolute must for any visit.
google avatar

Umber S.

Yelp
I tried there their drink that's like hot chocolate but super healthy: It consisted of dates, raw cacao, maple syrup and milk. I knew there is no other place near me that would have this drink! Although it tasted healthy it was very satisfying;everyone that tried to taste enjoyed how healthy and fresh it was. My only issue was that it was too sweet next time I will remove the maple syrup or ask for less dates; it was worth trying.
google avatar

Anthony D.

Yelp
I've tried their black Coffee, London Fog, and their cacao hot chocolate! All good and probably the best coffee in town. Trust me, I've verified this by searching high and low. Plum farm, Bagel Time, and Washington Inn coffee are all good but I would go with Out There if given the option. I haven't tried any of there food but it looks good as well.

Yelp
Love love love this place! The staff here are so sweet and very accommodating! My sister and I went here for an afternoon pick me up and some smoothies for the kids. This shop also supports the clean ocean/litter movement, so thanks for being awesome inside and out!! We both got the iced caramel lattes and two smoothies. The staff were awesome because they helped us with choosing, did not rush us and allowed me to get a small version of the mango smoothie for my child! We will be back when we visit next!
google avatar

Yelp
Before you cruise the Mall, stop by, Niki,Craig (Proprietors) & a cup of Ethiopia Sidamo will make your day a whole lot better. The "OTC" crew is extremely knowledgeable about the brew to satisfy you. Will & RosE
google avatar

Chrissy T.

Yelp
We stopped here before heading back home for the weekend. So glad we did! Got a medium Vanilla hot latte and it was perfect! The large is just more milk and the same amount of espresso (as it is at all coffee shops) so I opted for the medium and it was just so yummy! Quick, friendly service. Would definitely be back here in the future as our Go to coffee place in Cape Kay. Lots of gluten free bakery options for anyone interested.
google avatar

James S.

Yelp
People are pumped about this spot. Seems pretty cool. My wife is excited about their chai tea and matcha drinks. A local we know loves the coffee. I don't drink tea or coffee, so I went for a smart fruit smoothie and will say I was disappointed when I noticed that not a single piece of fruit went into it. Just ice, and syrups/purées. Would love something fresher. Tasted fine and the price was just $4, but wasn't what I was looking for. Another gripe I had was the lack of a phone number to order ahead (especially in a pandemic) or an online ordering system. Not trying to spend any more time inside a business than I have to, especially small coffee shops where it's more difficult to distance. I think tea and coffee lovers will like this place, but it wasn't what I was looking for in a little cafe.

Bklynnnn L.

Yelp
Great decent coffee. You can smell the coffee the moment you step in. They offer oat milk which is a plus.
google avatar

Rebecca M.

Yelp
Only real coffee shop in Cape May with espresso drinks. Most other coffee shops serve regular coffee pumped up on syrup and whipped cream. This place is legit if you're looking for a real cup of coffee.

Tiffany C.

Yelp
Believe the hype. The dark chocolate mocha is perfection. Cinnamon swirl cake is delicious. I tried to go every day.
google avatar

Tina J.

Yelp
Great coffee and smoothies! Friendly staff and efficient service. Wait time isn't very long. Just wished it opened earlier in the morning.
google avatar

Daniel P.

Yelp
So glad we stopped here on vacation. My wife has gluten allergies and these are hands down the best GF baked goods we've had period. Literally no competition. The drinks were also great but like the GF goodies were sooooooo good.
google avatar

Angela C.

Yelp
Cute coffee store. We were craving smoothies so ordered that instead. One peanut butter banana and another matcha. Great quality all around, nice ambiance, and friendly staff.

Yelp
Out There Coffee is my favorite coffee shop I have ever walked into (and trust me, I have been in many). My best friend (and family) and I were staying on Washington Street in Cape May for a week, and after two failed attempts at locating a perfect coffee spot, she and I found Out There: exactly what we were looking for. Not only was there exceptional hospitality from the employees, namely the two owners Craig and Nicole, but also an overwhelming sense of community and warmth (which is extremely hard to come by in Beach Towns such as Cape May). I felt welcomed every time I walked in, and their hours are incredible (though I'm sorry to say I'm still unaware of exactly what they are). Y'all know what you're doing, and your coffee is amazing and perfectly priced. I also can recommend the Strawberry Mango Peach smoothie, which was refreshing and inexpensive. I had a great blueberry muffin as well. Out There Coffee just about made my week, thank you so much for your incredible dedication, kindness, and good food. *there's also a rewards system--you'll get a point every time you make a purchase (I have seven over a four day period) if you apply with your phone number at the register*
