Are Companies Using the Pandemic as an Excuse to Stop Unions? | Eater

"This airport steakhouse employed a veteran server who for nearly nine years served signature Bloomin’ Onions and trained new hires while reporting verbal insults and a daily fear of being fired without cause. Operated by HMSHost, staff joined with the union Unite Here and won majority support among roughly 800 workers across the company’s airport restaurants, including other chains, seeking higher wages, health benefits, recall guarantees and stronger safety provisions. The campaign was derailed by the coronavirus: the NLRB delayed elections, HMSHost fought mail-in ballots and pushed for in-person voting, hired a labor-relations firm to hold captive-audience anti-union meetings in cramped rooms amid early social-distancing guidance, and has argued that furloughed employees (about 90% of the restaurant staff) should not be eligible to vote. As a result many employees remain furloughed without pay, insurance, or clear recall rights, and say management has signaled an intent to rehire non-union workers first, leaving staff demoralized and uncertain about the future of their union drive." - Matthew Sedacca

I stopped for a bite to eat while waiting for my international flight. I asked for a table for 1...was told domt have anything right now maybe 20mins I was told....whst about these tables here...Nope they are closed...what aboit this one oh didn't see that one...Seems they are wanting to save tables for bigger groups...service from the girl was ok...food was terrible I would have been better going to Nathan's or McDonald's...I wont visit this location again. The picture was the food I ordered old warm fries and a very dry burger....This isn't at the standard of Outback im used to..

Great staff. Friendly. Seated quickly and food was good. Honestly beats most other airport alternatives I have had. Glad to have a good place to stop and sit to pass time and get a good meal before a long flight. Apps were big and filling.

As good as anything at an airport can be. Everyone was super friendly and helpful. The amount of fries I got was kind of disappointing as you can see in the picture. For the price it should have had 2 sides.

Inside terminal B, Orlando international airport departure. Good place to get some food before the flight. Highly recommend ribeye steak. It is much better than the 33$ next level.

The food was the only thing going for this place. Service was very slow, and we had asked for napkins that came at the end of the meal. There's not a chance in hell for a refill of ice tea. Steak had great flavor but too much fat and grissel. Salad and the vegetables were fresh, not frozen.

Food was delicious. It was a nice simple breakfast before our flight. The waitress was very kind, and we were discussing universal studios, and she told us that her husband helped build over there.

Terrible experience – unacceptable service We had an extremely frustrating experience at this Outback location at Orlando International Airport. First, we were seated at a table for two even though we were a group of three. After asking to be moved, we were taken to another table that was visibly wet and not cleaned properly. After being seated, no server came to our table. The QR Code ordering system was not working, making it impossible to place any order. We waited, tried again, and still received no assistance from the staff. Eventually, we had to leave the restaurant without being able to order anything. This was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had, especially for a brand that claims to offer consistent service. I will not return to this location, and unfortunately this experience has affected my perception of the entire Outback chain. Very disappointing.

Service was great. I had the regular breakfast. Toast was nearly bread - they should spring for a toaster. "Breakfast fries" were just french fries. Bacon was tiny, which is fine, but if they're tiny toss a few more on there. We're paying a lot to eat at the airport so you should improve what you give us. Not asking a lot - toast the toast, add two more tiny bacons...easy stuff (and we can overlook the fries not being homefries)
