longtime loyal customers here who truly enjoy Outlanders, which is why i am disappointed to even have to write this. My wife went to pick up our order recently and followed the usual process: she called when she arrived, like we always do. Unfortunately, no one ever came out. After waiting, she ended up having to go inside in her pajamas — not exactly what she planned — and it looked like other customers were having the same issue. If this is a staffing challenge, a simple heads-up for pickup orders would go a long way in managing expectations. On top of that, the sauces were incorrect again. Which happens a lot. Normally we just let small things slide, but since we still haven’t heard back from the restaurant after reaching out directly, it feels important to mention it. It’s frustrating to get home and realize things are wrong, and it would be great to trust that our order is correct without having to double-check every single time. We love this place, and that’s exactly why we’re sharing this feedback. We respect the business and hope to get at least a call back or some acknowledgment. Loyal customers just want to feel valued in return.

Just had a team event at the restaurant! I can’t say enough about the food, atmosphere and service! Top notch service! Food was amazing! Atmosphere was fun and unique! We were in town from Cleveland so knew nothing about the area or restaurants. So glad we went there! Had the best time and the owner accommodated our group so much!

This is the easiest 5 star review for completely unexpected delicious food. We were passing through the town and had an opportunity to experience some of the best chicken and all the flavors that it punched. Portions are big the price is right and the chicken is delish. 👍 Now Iets talk about mac and cheese... TRY IT.. it's that good. Got to meet the owner and hear the story. You can tell he is passionate about what he does and it shows. The art of food. Next time I'm in Nashville I will definitely come back.

Recon: We headed to Nolensville today to try something new. What a great surprise! We ordered the Nashville hot and regular tenders with fries. Both came to our table within 5 minutes nice and hot. Probably the most tender and tasty tenders we have ever had and the Nashville hot was spot on! This is a difficult feat to achieve. The 4 dipping sauces were also good. I have been to this place a few times for lunch, but today my experience was flat out disrespectful I waited exactly 37 minutes for 3 chicken strips and didn’t get my food until i asked for a refund because my lunch break was over with, I was told sorry and was handed my food with 3 chicken strips and a box full of cold burnt fries.The worst part is i tipped them for absolutely nothing,But WE live and learn . And I really liked this place but they showed me they don’t give a damn about me or my stomach lol

Just came in from Colorado while passing through. This is the best Fried Chicken I have ever had. Super sweet and kind servers, and some finger lickin sauces. I got the hot chicken basket and my partner is annoyed because I can’t stop talking about it. 5 stars.

Great local joint! The wings and sauce selections were good. Do yourself a favor and order the fried Mac n cheese balls too! The customer service was AMAZING! We were greeted right away and asked if we had any questions about the menu multiple times. Really sweet and made us feel at home.

First time in had fried pickles- so yummy deliscious. Really nice batter nice and crispy, with saltiness of pickle- these are some of the best ive had! Second time in - sorry no pics. We had a variety of the chicken tenders & wings w/diff sauces- everything was delicious! The sauce with honey was a fav, but all we tried were fabulous! Chicken was juicy yet crispy perfect. Both times we came in all employees were very friendly and helpful answering our questions.

When I relocated to this area of the county I was already a fan of McDougal's near Vandy in Nashville, and this location was a McDougal's then. The name has changed (can someone tell me why?), but the menu is similar and the chicken remains good. Tenders are good sized and there are nearly 20 sauces or seasonings from which you can select. My greatest anxiety is wanting to try something new, but knowing the traditional ones are there for a reason. 3 tenders gets 2 sauces and 5 tenders gets 3 options. Decisions, decisions, decisions. They have Buffalo fried mac n cheese balls. My first bite - not a fan, but then the flavors meld together and you know you're gonna eat another one. I can also vouch for the wings and tender sandwich. Yes, there's now a McDougal's up the road in Maryland Farms, but mile-for-mile; this place is closer (although Nolensville traffic can get bad in that area).

The best chicken fingers I have ever had! In a town that is overflowing with fried chicken options, it is hard to stand out. No one comes close to Outlanders. Everything we had was fantastic, the service is friendly and we loved the whole vibe. This isn't just a don't miss, this is a go out of your way to go there kind of place.

Great chicken away from the craziness of central Nashville. The hot chicken tenders were super juicy and the breading was excellent. Not sure if they have different levels of spice, I wasn't asked. What I got was hotter than I expected but worth the pain! The fries were very flavorful and a perfect complement to the chicken.

Real good southern comfort food made with whole ingredients without the additives. That's a hard thing to find. This spot is just the place though if you're looking for both of those in one restaurant. I had buffalo and lemon pepper boneless wings, absolutely incredible. Also, do not sleep on the Mac & cheese bites with habanero ranch. The service is friendly and fast, and feels like a real local business (because it is). Looking around at the environment, you can tell you're in the right place for some simple southern food made right. Definitely check this place out now if you haven't been. I'll definitely be back soon.

So here's the thing. It's a local staple, but it's not my favorite chicken spot. The chicken is dry and the batter lacks flavor. The fries are way too greasy to where they are soggy. I love to come here for a casual sit down and I love the soft serve ice cream, but the chicken just doesn't do it for me.

Great hidden gem in nolensville. Finally not thin unprocessed chicken like everywhere else. They have best chicken around!

The wings and tenders are off the Chain. Omg omg omg soooo good. Saved and will never go anywhere else for chicken. So tender. And the flavors are off the hook. Island mango mmmmmm.

My favorite chicken place in all of Nashville. Whenever I have friends visiting they ask to go here multiple times during their visit. The service is always quick. It is a fun hole in the wall place. The curbside service is always fast and accurate.

Super awesome food. I would recommendthe buffalo chicken sandwich with yellow mustard and pickles.. yes it's odd but the mustard brings out the buffalo flavors. Very very good food and the customer service.. wonderful.

I have tried for years to like and support this establishment because one of my children really likes the fries. But that may be the only redeeming item on their menu. The chicken tenders are always fried into a dried, stringy mess. The grilled tenders are cooked into a dried, stringy mess. The salads are made with wilted Pre-bagged lettuce. The Buffalo sauce may be approaching the legal limit of saltiness. The blue-cheese sauce has barely any blue cheese. On a positive note - the staff is wonderful and friendly. Here's the thing: there are new chicken tender places setting up shop everywhere in Nashville and there's no reason Outlanders shouldn't compete with them. But I fear the end of this place if they don't stop overcooking the food and step up the quality a bit. Check out places like Maniacs and Sam's place for incredible chicken tenders.

This place is freaking awesome!!! I liked it so much that I stopped again on my way back from Florida! They have a lot of options for food and sauce. I got the chicken tenders and they were amazing! The hand cut fries are amazing! The service is good, the atmosphere is good and the location is good. All good! The first time I went at 11 when they opened and it took forever for the food to come out but I assumed they was still figuring out their day. The second time I went, was at dinner time and food came out super quick! Definitely recommend this place!!! It's about 20 or so mins outside Nashville and the town that it's in is small but the main road that it sits on, gets crowded. Looks like their building up the area.

Food is delicious no matter what we've ordered. The staff is always so friendly and the atmosphere just puts you in a good mood. Met the Owner once and he was friendly, polite, and even helped serve while we were there. Great local spot and rivals any Nashville Hot Chicken you'd find in downtown Nashville.

I didn't know what to expect, but I got the 3 tenders bskt Hot Chicken style and they were right up there with the best I've had. And I've had a lot.

If you want some fried chicken that is fast and an absolute banger, this is the place to go. Love their food all around and the service is awesome, super friendly. Best small restaurant atmosphere in town by far

Update to an old review...was in recently and I have to say this may be my new favorite local spot for chicken. Fun atmosphere (need more Mill Creek schools repped :) ) and quick service. We went on a Wednesday night and they had a good flow of people and the staff were super friendly and attentive-I think the owner was there too. Food was cooked well and the sauces are excellent. Good local beer on draft and options are good. We'll be back!

For the tastiest fried chicken in town, I return again and again! Service is great, even brings orders curbside if needed.

Ordered Hot chicken basket, a Chicken tender Sandwich basket, and the mac and cheese balls. Fries were awful, full of grease and oil with no flavor, felt like i was biting into a oil sponge. Chicken was alright but same thing as the fries so oily and not a lot of flavor, it was mostly just spicy which i did like. Sandwich was bland no flavor at all but the least oily. mac and cheese balls were decent tasted like Kraft mac and cheese drenched in oil. I can feel the high colesterol kicking in.

Food doesn't get any better. And the owner is a great guy too. I'm a lover of their Island Mango sauce. Out of this world. Fantastic food and environment. Salad with habanero ranch I could sleep with. A visit would make you a beleiver!

I think this is my new favorite fried chicken joint in Nolensville. My sister and her family took me here on my last night visiting them. We ordered the fried Mac n cheese balls, beers, and chicken tender baskets, which came with fries and Texas toast. I am obsessed with their habanero ranch dressing! I used it on everything!

Apparently this used to be McDougal's - no wonder it gave strong McDougal's vibes of when I tried McDougal's a few years back. The walls are filled with a bunch of stickers, pictures, and license frames, giving an eclectic atmosphere. I got 5 pieces chicken tenders basket plain with outlander, island mango, and cali gold sauces to dip, as well as half order of fried original buffalo Mac and cheese balls to share. It's definitely enough food for 2 people for a comfortable meal. The buffalo Mac and cheese balls are quite good and interesting, and it is very filling in itself. Dipping it with ranch elevates the palette. I'm not too impressed with the chicken as it was a little dry, but this place apparently is a few dollars cheaper than McDougal's now so value wise is comparable. Fries are thin which has good seasoning but there were a lot of fries that were extremely tiny that it would make sense to use utensils to eat. The toast is not really anything special. What somewhat redeems the average quality of the chicken is definitely the sauce. They had so many sauces to choose from so it was hard. I really enjoyed Cali gold sauce because it's like BBQ sauce but better.

The comparisons between Outlanders and McDougal's near Vanderbilt are impossible to ignore. They have an identical vibe and both specialize in fried chicken. However, they are indeed unique and individual destinations with very different menu items. For those of us who remember eating at the Nolensville branch of McDougal's - before it closed in 2015 due to financial mismanagement - Outlanders occupies the exact same building. No wonder it feels like a McDougal's! So how does the food measure up to the legend, and the high standards Middle Tennesseans have for southern cuisine? The Freebird Sandwich is an absolute masterpiece, everything I would ever want to cram into a massive, calorie-laden piece of Americana. Just think about this description: Two thick pieces of garlic butter Texas toast and Swiss cheese (or American) surround chicken fingers in the house-made Freebird sauce (akin to buffalo sauce) with pickles (and/or mayo, lettuce, and tomato) and a mound of fried mac-n-cheese in the middle. Are you serious? How could you pass up this sandwich? Hack: I even stuffed some of my fries inside the sandwich and drizzled my side of blue cheese dressing all over it. That exponentially elevated the wicked flavor combinations! Speaking of the fries, they are nearly perfect. I usually like fat fries, but these shoestrings were impeccably seasoned and tender with a slight crunch. The Nashville hot chicken tenders are a worthy addition as well. Having eaten at all 43 hot chicken joints in Middle Tennessee, and even making it at home to perfection, I've got some pretty high standards. I'd give Outlanders a solid 7, which is a good rating. It competes well with our most famous dish and the enormously stiff competition that comes with the territory. Unlike most places, the hot chicken is not offered at different heat levels, and the default setting is quite spicy, even for someone who loves heat. There is more focus on spiciness than flavor, and I'm not a fan of that gritty, oily texture this and other Nashville hot chickens have. But it's a good quality product, the chicken and batter are both excellent in every dish, and I highly recommend Outlanders.

Chicken is dry and stringy, fries are indelible and greasy. Left hungry with the majority of our chicken tender plates uneaten because it was so unappetizing.

Food has always been consistently good & staff friendly. The chicken tenders are perfection. The portions are big.

The chicken tenders were excellent! Very fresh and well prepared. The beer bucket - cold and fairly priced. Service was friendly and welcoming. Why 4/5 stars? The fries were terrible. Greasy, cold... disgusting actually. Like they were cooked in old oil. There was enough chicken to satisfy, so we just ate a few fries. And we didn't want to have them redo the fries while our chicken got cold. I do feel that they would have replaced them. So - I would recommend, but if your food is greasy, bring it back! Worth a try.

The food is very good, and good value, and nice people. Definitely come here! I'll tell you what's good and what' needs some improvement: First, the fried Buffalo Mac and cheese is absolutely fantastic and worth a drive from anywhere. You can order 4 of them or get one on their combo. Do not die until you have eaten this. And there's really no "Buffalo" taste, so don't let that deter you. The boneless wings are great. I got Buffalo. A bit spicy for me, but very good. The chicken tenders are very good. So are the shoestring fries. So see? Good place. I think the wings weren't good - cooked earlier and the "rub" is more like a sprinkle.. the sauces in cups aren't notable, these could be improved and labeled so you know what's what.

This is one of our go to spots and it always makes the kids happy. They really do have great tenders and solid wings as well. We find ourselves always getting the same things there but at a place like this go with what you like. They now offer and have for a while Caligold sauce. It's my favorite sauce there and I typically only get a places hottest sauce. I do like their Thunderbird sauce as well. The Mango habanero is my least favorite. BDubs mango habanero is way better. My favorite item is the buffalo mac n cheese balls. I am sure they are not good for me but I could eat 10 of those for a meal!! If you need a chicken or wing fix, this is a great spot to satisfy that want.

I, personally, do not like wings or bbq, but I though there food options were really nice. The inside of the restaurant unique, but the stuffed animals hanging in front of the restaurant creeped me out.

The food is wonderful and the people are great! We've been going to Outlander's for years and love it.

Ordered this food for pickup on a Friday evening because I was craving some chicken. This place definitely didn't disappoint! I ordered the 5 tenders chicken basket with a mix of fried and grilled in their Freebird sauce. Both styles were delicious, but I preferred the fried. The food came in a bed of fries, plenty to share with another person. Me being me, I ate them all by myself with no remorse. Next time I find myself in Nolensville I will being stopping here again!

We love the casual atmosphere and the convenience of this restaurant. We often order ahead and they bring it out to your car if you're taking it to go. We also enjoy eating there with the family and it's definitely kid friendly. Our favorites include the salads and chicken. The reason I didn't give five stars is its simply not the same quality it was prior to recent changes in our economy. The chicken is smaller than it used to me and occasional my cucumbers are not as crunchy as they were before. However, their food is still better than most other similar establishments. The service is always friendly, capable and mindful.

Quite honestly, this is the best chicken I have ever had. The spice and amount of heat was spot on. The meat was moist and the crunch on the outside made for a superior taste and texture. When in the Nashville region, run (don't walk) to this excellent establishment for spicy chicken.

I have to say we stopped in here for some chicken as we were passing through and I'm super happy we did. The chicken was cooked to perfection, the fried pickles were actually pickles not small slithers of of pickles with 2" of batter. The breading, the dipping sauces along with the tossing sauces were all superb. Better than Hattie b's and way better than party fowl. I'll have to come back to try the Nashville hot chicken, I wasn't in the mood for something hot today...

When first opening it was amazing. Large strips of chicken and very tender. The past few times I've ordered, the chicken strips are smaller and not as tender. It's such a big difference that we have stopped eating here. It's now just ok.

They specialize in tenders and fries which are great. But I've had the wings twice now and they are crazy expensive ($9+ for 6 wings) for deep fried ( this last time super over cooked dried out ) basic wings from a deep fryer. I'll stick to the tenders next time. Also not sure a $6 PBR can is helping them either.

Not what we were expecting. We had heard great things about this place but were disappointed.

This is by far some of the best chicken strips I have had. Their hot chicken strips are also on point, which is hard to pull off in a city full of hot chicken! Don't forget the spicy ranch! Whether it is paired with regular chicken strips or the hot chicken strips, it can't be beat!

Tried wings for first time. Wings were cooked well and were juicy. But, ordered dry rub and there was very little dry rub - almost none. Basically was given naked wings. And, ranch and blue cheese dressing were horrible - extremely watered down.

Best Nashville Hot chicken tenders in the area! I'm giving 4 stars because the fries are pretty underwhelming. There are a variety of sauces to choose from, but you're doing yourself a disservice if you get anything other than Nashville Hot (if you're into spicy food). Highly recommend!

Overpriced and not that good overall. Wasn't very busy when we stopped in. Took forever to get our food. Girls working were more into chatting while holding our food as we watched and waited for her to finish her story and come over to our table. Chicken was okay. Very greasy and overpriced for what it was. Not going back.

Best. Hot. Chicken. In. Nashville. Beats every other option. AND you get free soft serve ice cream after to cool your mouth down. The food is phenomenal, and you're treated like family! They design and interior of the restaurant is one of a kind and is a MUST TRY. One of my favorite restaurants in Nashville. So much so that when I moved, I made sure my house was within 20 minutes of Outlanders.

My family and I had the pleasure eating at Outlanders for the first time. From the moment we walked in the staff was friendly. The owner (I believe) greeted us and handed us all menus to review. He took the time to explain the menu and the sauces; which was extremely helpful. The food was delicious, tender and flavorful. The owner made an order of fried Mac n cheese balls for us to taste. They were beyond savory. This dish simply reminded me of my grandmothers Mac n cheese. I haven't tasted this dish of hers in 30 years. It brought so many fond memories. Thank you Outlanders for the outstanding service and a small piece of my grandmother back to me. Stop by! I promise you will not be disappointed.
