Outset Coffee - Financial District

Ube Cold Brew is delicious!! The strawberry mochi donut is off the charts! Definitely recommend this spot for a good coffee and snack! The sandwiches look delicious along with all the other treats but unfortunately I was unable to try them all but definitely would based on how good the coffee and donut are. You could have fresh squeezed orange juice from a machine! Check it out!!

AMAZINGGG plus very creative coffee! They have the traditional matcha option which is top notch! I got an iced matcha latte this time, the balance was super good, I love the matcha sooo much! They also have a range of very creative coffee!! Super friendly staff too!

⭐️⭐️⭐️ The donut coffee was bomb — sweet, delicious, and totally worth the visit for that alone. But I have to say, selling pizza toast at 2 PM was a miss. It was hard as a rock and completely inedible. Super disappointing. I’d go back for the coffee, but definitely skipping the food next time.

I'm sorry but the coffee wasn't good. I tried the donut coffee and it was just okay. No different than a mid-tier coffee with some vanilla syrup. The person making the coffee was nice, but the cafe had lots of flies; can easily cause suspicion of hygiene. If you're coming from Europe side, you can avoid this. Don't fall into FOMO. The posters and board is inviting but coffee isn't holding up to the standard unfortunately.

Update: I try just about every drink on the menu, and their seasonal offerings since they've opened. Recommended all of them so far. The atmosphere is simple, yet I understand it was work-in-progress at time of visiting (soft opening?) Changing to three stars now This place went down hill real fast and it’s becoming inferior option in this area. The drink is too sweet and the coffee in it is not tasty at all… The staff is super indifferent and unable to fulfill customer needs. I asked them to add Ube sauce into hot latte and they just told me no … the way they speak with me is condescending. Not planning to come back any time soon. Jan 2025 update The new deserts are amazing! My personal favorite is the ube cupcake and the passion fruit mochi donut. Their banana cream latte is my favorite! It doesn't feel too heavy as I expected and has perfect sweetness.

TLDR: creative flavors including orange juice/coffee and Asian tea/coffee flavor infusions I had two different coffees here and there was an orange juice/espresso with fresh orange juice which was awesome! I also had a tea latte drink another time and it was just right level of sweetness

A lovely local coffee shop with creative & delicious drinks and pastries! I got an iced latte that was beautifully blue and pea based. It was refreshing and great as a mid day pick me up. Service was self-order but the barista handed me my drink with a smile. Would def come again!

Summary: Unique, but bit-too-sweet specialty coffees Details: I have to echo the sentiments of several other Yelpers here, in that the Outset seems to veer on the sweet side of things with their specialty drinks, which is likely even more noticeable to those who generally prefer their espresso drinks without any added sugar. Opting for something that sounded like one of the less sweet options, I got myself a Day & Night several weeks back, which was a mixture of oolong and coffee: something of a fancy yuenyeung. And while it was enjoyable at the get-go, even with the less sweet option, I found it sweeter than I would have liked, and was craving something savory to balance things out afterwards. If I were to relate this to milk tea, I'd imagine it to be closer to a 50-75% sweet option at your average tea shop, so take that as you will. Accessibility: Surprisingly large space with a variety of seating options, including counter seating and smaller two-tops, so accessibility shouldn't be a problem.

The brown sugar almond toast is amazing good! It's perfect to pair with any coffee, great snack or breakfast meal. It's cheesy, sweet with cinnamon and brown sugar, with the almond flakes on top makes a little bit crunchy. The toast itself is nicely toasted. Super fast with my pick up order, the staff are friendly. Next time I will definitely try the coffee!

A cute little coffee shop in Fidi. I love how the drinks are very unique and different from other traditional chain coffee brands. I recommend the Sunset Americano!

I stopped by here with a friend after a design conference and was thankful for the service here! I originally ordered the Durian latte but they had unfortunately run out of the durian so ended up comping my drink that ended up being delicious (the strawberry matcha). It's overall more spacious than the Valencia location as well, and the drink comes out quick!

Happy to have found this place to grab our last SF coffee before we went on our road trip home. Love the Asian flavor inspired drinks which made it a little difficult to choose what to get. I opted for the matcha strawberry yuja, a seasonal item, while my boyfriend had the toasted banana latte. My matcha was on the sweeter side, but was refreshing. Tried a sip of the toasted banana latte and liked it as well. Would definitely get that another day if I lived in SF. Great banana flavor, with a wider straw for the banana puree in the actual coffee. I also got an ube almond croissant, with ube inside and ube encrusted on top. I intended to only eat half initially, but ended up eating the whole thing. The ube inside reminded me of the an ube pan de sal. Another plus is they allow dogs! An important consideration for us since we had our dog with us. There are 2 kiosks you can order from or you can order at the register. We used the kiosk so we could easily see pictures of the drinks as well. Parking was a little tricky but no biggie, it wasn't unexpected. We ended up finding a parking garage a few blocks away.

We loooooove Outset Coffee. Their fruit drinks are actually remarkable, and they're always very fast and efficient at getting everything out. This location has tons of seating and a bright orange wall, BTW. Very fun. My favorite drinks are the banana latte and the durian latte. Both make my mouth water. I'm hoping to try the orange americano at some point (partner loves it).

Visited Outset Coffee in the Financial District shortly after a Giants game at Oracle Park. Although the area is fairly nice and safe compared to other regions in SF, parking is difficult to find. We had to park a few blocks away in a public garage, then walk the rest of the way. There weren't any lines when we visited, and plenty of open tables and seating. It was fairly quiet, and the store has a bathroom as well (you need to ask for the key to unlock it). They also have free water from a dispenser, with small cups. I ordered the Ocean Breeze Latte (coconut milk+butterfly pea+coffee), which is supposed to be one of their most popular drinks. I thought it was just fine, but I wasn't a fan of the butterfly pea flavor. The drink made for a very pretty photo though because of the blue hues. Overall I had a good time, but the drink was just fine. I'd be open to coming back but don't expect anything spectacular.

My new favorite coffee shop near Salesforce! Street parking can be difficult, but if you're in the area - it's great for the office workers in FiDi especially! I tried the Matcha Forest, which was my favorite! Very frothy and creamy texture (I got the whole milk). The matcha itself was earthy and not bitter! Great quality. Less sweet was good for me. The Osmanthus Latte was decent! Not a must order... Very unique and I loved the floral notes from the dried petals. A nice twist on a classic latte. Good coffee flavor with a single shot! For breakfast, I also snagged an Everything Toast. Simply delicious! Warm and crispy bread with lots of cream cheese. The everything bagel seasoning is the cherry on top. I enjoyed this and it didn't break the bank.

I'm so happy they opened a new location! the drinks here are so fun, and i love the incorporation of asian flavors. toasted banana latte - i am not a coffee drinker, but i loved how this was perfectly sweet! the banana added a nice texture, and i would definitely get this again! durian latte - my dad got this, and he loved how fresh the durian is. they are not stingy with the purée, and it complements the coffee so well! the place has some seating and clean orange decorations. they have several pastries to choose from, and the barista is super kind! i recommend to stop by here if you're in the area

Tasty drinks! I wanted to order the banana latte, but they ran out of bananas. I ended up getting the dirty matcha which was good! Well balanced and not too sweet.

Happy to see another cute coffee shop open up in FiDi! I've been to the Valencia location before but this one is a lot bigger. They have more tables for you to do work at or hangout. This coffee shop is super unique because they offer Asian flavored drinks with durian, banana or black sesame. If you're not as adventurous, they also offer your classic coffees like cappuccino, cold brew, etc. They even sell toast here. This spot is great for a quick treat. I ordered the Dirty Matcha ($5.95) and I wish the coffee flavor was stronger. The matcha was a beautiful green color, but it wasn't strong either. I would love to try the Black Sesame Mudslide next time.

We got Traditional Matcha and Americano. Overall it's okay, it doesn't surprise us too much. Someone actually took my drink but I'm glad they found out and made me another one. Overall, I would say it's okay, I feel like there are better coffee shops out there.

I stumbled upon this place on my way to work one day. The bright orange theme of the shop caught my eye so I quickly bookmarked it on Yelp. After lunch that day, my colleagues and I wanted to grab a coffee so I quickly suggested this new spot in FiDi. We loved it! Easy self ordering at the kiosk, prices are very affordable for the area, and quick service. The menu is pretty extensive and very unique! I ended up getting the Day & Night, iced with an extra shot and oat milk. It was so delicious omg. It was basically an oolong tea flavored coffee with cream. I usually like coffee and tea separately and don't often mix the two together, but it actually works so well. I tried a bit of my coworker's Osmanthus Latte, and it was also fuego af. Highly recommend! Only thing is I wish the portions were larger since I'm trying to get wired at work.

Noticed a cute new coffee place in the Financial District and wanted to try it out! Their other location is in the Mission, but the SoMa location just celebrated their Grand Opening. I've been getting a lot of their social media ads, so it was about time to try! The service was very quick and the baristas were very helpful and patient in helping me find my order! Even though they had a lot of customers due to their grand opening and during coffee break time in FiDi, the baristas took their time on your order. I had the Donut Latte and it was yummy! It was perfectly sweet and delicious. Nothing particularly unique about this coffee, but I'm sure their other flavors are more unique. I definitely want to come back to try their more Asian-inspired flavors and some of the food!

I miss Illy so much and it's about time a new cafe opened up in this spot. I didn't know what to expect so I was pleasantly surprised when I saw they had Asian inspired drinks. Osmanthus latte? DURIAN latte?! The spring specials included a yummy looking strawberry matcha but it's been so long since I've had osmanthus tea...and never one combined with coffee! My friend's hot chocolate came with two torched marshmallows on top. Service was quick and friendly. They have a couple of kiosks and this seems to be a popular spot, as evident by the large crowd that came in after us. Our drinks still came out within a decent time. I will definitely be back soon. I'm eyeing their ube croissant for my next visit.

Perfect place for a mid-morning pick me up. Located in FiDi and close to lots of offices this is a great spot for anyone needing a little morning pick me up. They have great unique coffee flavors and pastries. I decided to try their Ocean Breeze per the baristas recommendation. I was craving something refreshing and coconut-y. The barista recommended the Ocean Breeze with a little sweetener and less ice. I really really enjoyed the drink. I will say it is a little more milky than I was expecting but luckily that is what I was craving that day (warning for others who may not enjoy creamy/milky coffee). I also tried their regular latte with caramel syrup and was surprised by how much I loved their coffee flavor. It's a very subtle roast and isn't overpoweringly bitter which I usually don't like about coffee. Overall though it was a little pricey considering the size of the drink - but the flavors are exotic and unique which you definitely pay a premium for. The barista was extremely friendly and proactively helping me decide which drink to order based on my mood. They also have lots of seating inside if you'd like to stay and eat/drink there.

Quick coffee run on a sunny Sunday mornin. Sadly they ran out of black sesame and I didn't get to try that latte. The employee apologized but recommended other popular drink options. Ordered the caramel banana & toasted banana iced lattes, still yummy! Other flavors on the menu to try out, need to visit again

Stopped by for a pick me up and decided to try the Strawberry Oasis from the new Spring menu! The drink was so good and reminded me of strawberry Pocky. You can really taste the creamy strawberry while it blends in with the fragrant Jasmine tea flavor. One of my new faves lately. A little pricier than some drink places but I think the prominent flavors make up for it. The interior is a bright but chill environment and the service was fairly quick and friendly in the morning. You can order at the checkout or through self order kiosk. Food items available too but I'll have to try those next time.

Nice cute coffee place with so many unique offerings. We got the donut latte and hot chocolate. I loved the donut latte, the hot chocolate was good too and not overly sweet or dense. We also got their cream cheese toast which was soo good!

You want a coffee experience that includes a durian you can drink? Better get your butt over to Outset then, you cool babies. I've only been to the Valencia location a few times, but now they're in the SOMA! Love the space, super chill, very accessible from the BART. The drinks are well-crafted and compared to many cafes around the area, much cheaper than expected! I rec their black sesame mudslide or their orange americano. I'm sure all their drinks are bomb, though!

It's good if you love sugar. I ordered a double espresso with dark roast and it was the lightest colored, most watered down espresso I've had in my life. The sugary drinks are good I'm sure, but it's not for me.

Love to see a coffee shop like this in the area! Such a creative menu - so many unique flavor options, though of course you can get all of coffee basics here too - and a nice space inside. Both drinks we tried were really good - the matcha forest has a creamy matcha layer on top of milk of your choice, and had great flavor. The default sweetness was just right, not overwhelming. The donut coffee was a creamy latte, with a mellow well-balanced flavor (though if you want it stronger I think adding an extra espresso shot would probably take care of that). Staff was very nice and helpful, and ordering via kiosks is easy.

Cute cafe that just opened up! Bright, energetic orange interior with a chill vibe, perfect place to sit and hang out with friends. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful! The best part is that the prices are affordable, especially in an expensive area like FiDi / Downtown San Francisco. I ordered an Ocean Breeze latte (coconut milk) and the total was $5.50. The drink was good, can be customized with extra shot or decaf. Can't wait to go back and try the other interesting options on the menu, like the Durian latte and Toasted Banana latte.

only good things to say about this cafe! fairly new, specialty drink focused, and great place to sit for a chat. they have a number of unique drinks and are very friendly with answering any questions you have. owner is also so welcoming!

Great coffee shop that opened in FiDi. I love the variety of drinks and how they are Asian inspired. The prices of the drinks are great too - even for the speciality drinks. The people working also are so friendly and always greet us. 10/10 love coming here and would highly recommend!

have since tried two iced drinks: the toasted banana latte and ocean breeze latte, loved both as well! lightly sweet just the right amount with fruity touches, but still driven by a strong coffee flavor. beautifully presented! truly lives up to the "bored of regular coffee" slogan :)

Charming coffee spot I visited in SF, I'm adventurous so I tried the Ube croissant and donut latte. Both great choices. The employees were kind and helpful, would definitely go back and highly recommend!

My coworkers and I came here and most of us enjoyed the drinks we got! One of my coworkers and I got the Hot Caramel banana latte and liked it - sweet in taste and smooth texture. The orange colors are also nice, as much as I enjoy modern and muted interiors, the pop of color was refreshing. We ordered extra for our other team mates and unfortunately they didn't have trays but the baristas were cooperative and gave us bags and arranged our drinks.

The Orange Americano is delicious. My first time trying it, and it didn't disappoint. You can taste the Orange and Americano coffee, which gives it flavor. I found a new spot to enjoy this beverage. The Service was great, there were friendly workers, and the shop is a very comfortable place to enjoy your coffee its nice and quiet and very relaxing

i have been obsessed with this drink (day&night) since i first tried it, i ordered over 5 times in the past month haha. its the perfect mix of milk tea and coffee, not too sweet, but sweet enough. please come out with bigger cups! this small cup is not enough and im addicted

We came here couple weeks ago on their Grand Opening & got to try 2 drinks. I think we had their Matcha drink & Sesame latte ? We also tried their croissant. Everything was good overall. Happy to see another business sprucing up in the downtown area. The staff's friendly and they have a cute decor too.
