Set atop a restored former trade school in Lawrenceville, Over Eden serves Mediterranean-leaning plates, local cider and cocktails, with sweeping sunsets. Regularly recommended by Visit Pittsburgh and NEXTpittsburgh, it’s a stylish, distinctly local perch above the neighborhood.

The food and drinks were pretty good but you’re really going for the view. Great sunset views from this rooftop bar. Spacious with indoor and outdoor seating. Extensive menu of food and cocktail options offering interesting selections typical bar fare.

I actually went to school here when it was Washington polytechnic academy in middle school back in the early 2000s. Seeing this place be revamped to a hotel with a rooftop bar is actually so neat! Came here last week with my boyfriend and we had a really nice time. I got the sunset drink and enjoyed it so much I got another one. He tried a couple different drinks and loved them all. We didn’t get entrees, just wanted a snack so we got the truffle fries and they were delicious actually! The service was good overall. I’m a bartender myself and know how to read the room and knew the waitress was very busy but I think she handled herself well. We’ll definitely be back to experience more. The view is amazing as well!

Came with a large group & we were told we could be accommodated without reservations. We were able to all sit together but the service was not the best. I will say it was very busy on the outside and inside which could have been a factor but still not an excuse..we had to order all of our drinks and food at the bar. Half of our group didn’t get to order anything because the kitchen was so backed up and stopped taking orders. Menu needs updated some items are incorrect & weren’t mentioned when you ordered them. It is a nice place and good views but they really need more staff. Barely anyone at the bar to take orders and we were told only 2 people were working in the kitchen. I’m not sure if it’s always like this during busier times but they really needed some help. The food I did receive was good, no complaints about that. The service again could have been better. Someone in our group had to go get us water & straws etc. I get it’s busy but there definitely needs to be more staff if your guests are the ones basically serving ourselves. They didn’t seem prepared for the large crowd inside and out. Hopefully things get better because it really is a nice space.

Food here is delicious! I got a buger that was extremely flavorful. My friend got tacos that she throughly enjoyed and we shared the brussel sprout appetizer. Service was slightly lacking. We would have ordered more to drink, but they took a long time to check in on us. And normally I'd chalk this up to the server being busy with other patrons, but the restaurant was very empty at the time we were there. also was a large amount of servers standing behind the bar majority of the time. Otherwise the service was friendly and food was great. The view and interior was gorgeous.

Have all the ingredients to be the best spot in Lawrenceville, but fighting against being successful. Amazing views and food, but doesn't do much good when the servers cannot bring your order to you and take forever to acknowledge our table and take our order. We ordered 3 drinks but only got 1. I try to celebrate and support this restaurant but they make it so hard.

Google
We were really disappointed with our experience here. On the rooftop, several tables were left with dirty plates and drinks the entire time, which attracted swarms of bees right by us. It was bad enough that we had to move inside. The bar service was also very slow, even though it wasn’t very busy. It took a long time just to order drinks and fries. And when the food finally came, it felt way overpriced — $16 for fries is outrageous. Between the rooftop cleanliness, the slow service, and the high prices, the experience was not worth it. Would not recommend.

Google
I didnt get anything food, so I cannot comment on the quality, but I imagine its typical bar food. The view from the deck is an immaculate overlook of the Pittsburgh skyline, especially at night. The service is quick and friendly This is an upscale establishment, so the drink selection is somewhat limited for alcohol. Highly recommend for a special event.

Google
Bartender was super rude and started throwing stuff at her coworker. She slammed by beer glass down and cracked the glass the entire way around. Crispy beer and a nice view but I could get that else where. Not motivated to return

Yelp
We went to Over Eden on a cloudy Friday evening. To access Over Eden, you have to take the elevator on the ground floor and take it to the top (5F). The aesthetic is calming with a modern feel. There weren't many people when we arrive near opening and there weren't many people when we left around 7pm (which is great in my opinion). We sat at the bar and were able to have a wonderful view of the skyline as we enjoyed our happy hour sangria, truffle fries, and chicken taco egg rolls. The sangria was amazing (some of best I've had in the city). The truffles fries were probably the best I've had in the city. The chicken tacos were different from what I would normally order but they were delicious nonetheless. The service was amazing and our bartenders were always attentive to our needs (water refills, more food/drinks) but weren't overbearing. They were amazing! I'll definitely return again once the weather is better to try out the balcony dining area.

Yelp
A small group of us went to Over Eden to see off a friend before she moves, and we thought it was okay. More than anything, you are paying for the view and the vibe. The décor is minimal, but the view of the city is beautiful. I felt the dishes were somewhat overpriced for their portion sizes, but overall, the food wasn't bad. I really enjoyed the chicken romesco sandwich I ordered, and the aioli that accompanied the fries was great. I didn't love that all orders had to be placed at the bar. Having 1-2 waitstaff for the roof would have been nice, as one person has to wait at the table with everyone's belongings if everyone wants to order at once. The bartenders were all extremely friendly and helpful with drink recommendations though, which we really appreciated. Something to note: there is no private parking available unless you pay for valet service. I felt this was mildly annoying and inconvenient, seeing as your only other options are a privately owned lot across the street (so you risk being towed) or street parking at least two blocks away. If you have mobility issues, I would keep this limitation in mind. Overall, I would go back if a friend wanted to go! They change their menu fairly often, so I would be interested to see future cocktail and app options.

Yelp
The View Was Amazing But The Food WAS a Tad Pricey And Not Enough Signage To Say Where to go to get up to the restaurant

Yelp
Over Eden? More like over promised and under delivered. That's the opening line. Arrived for 5-7 happy hour around 6:15. It was busy all things considered it is a happy hour after all. There were two overworked bartenders running the bar. I waiting like a patient lad for my draft beer and made sure to order me and me lady's food as to not miss out on our opportunity. Two beers and 1 hour later, we notice our truffle fries have not arrived. We find the waitress who has the unfortunate news that the kitchen has run out of food. We as the customer had to seek out the staff to tell us we were not going to have our burger dinner. I would love to review the food but it never arrived. Our meal was completely covered in addition to one of our beers. Great location, poor delivery. 2/5 stars solely for ambiance

Yelp
I can only review the cocktails as I did not eat the food! Each cocktail tasted so good. I went in the summer so the windows were open and the fresh air felt nice. I also went during happy hour so drinks were greatly priced! Overall this is a very nice cocktail bar!

Yelp
We specifically came to this part of town to check out Over Eden to partake in drinks and eats while enjoying the city view from the rooftop and were disappointed to find it was closed due to a special event. We were very upset they did not update their website of the closure to the general public as we were not the only people turned away from the rooftop.

Yelp
I am giving a star for views and a star for the drinks. I think that the menu here is ridiculous and doesn't make any sense. Their small plates section is measly and the entrees and hand helds are all over the place. I thought the dip platter was ridiculous and the Brussels sprouts dry. They didn't have the third option in stock. Overall was an enjoyable time, service was good and again the views were fantastic. Great for a casual sunset hang out...except there were no small plates with flavor. I think they need to rethink their menu and use better recipes as well.

Yelp
Views are amazing. Food 8 drink is okay. Nice bartenders. Def go here for the vibes/scenery.

Yelp
We came to Over Eden for happy hour and I would highly recommend it for the spectacular rooftop views! Located in a hotel, you'll need to take the elevator up to this rooftop bar. You order at the bar if you want to sit outside. My friends got negronis because they were on the happy hour menu, but the prices unfortunately didn't feel like happy hour prices (think $8+ per drink). I enjoyed the raspberry mint mule off of their regular menu and would recommend that! Word for the wise, if you leave your tab open, they hold onto your card, so make sure to grab your card before leaving (I left my card behind and trekked back a few hours later to retrieve it).

Yelp
It was great! Went for Friday happy hour (5:00pm-7:00pm). The sangria was so tasty and the happy hour truffle fries were the best truffle fries I've ever had. Also got the chicken taco egg rolls, which were tasty, but the truffle fries were superior. Friendly and attentive service. It wasn't busy at all, a good handful of people around, but not crowded, which was a nice vibe. Pretty view of the city from the bar seating. Will be back to enjoy the rooftop when the weather warms up

Yelp
We had a party of 11 for my daughter's 21st birthday. Fantastic ambiance on top of the hotel, great views looking south towards the city, weather was fantastic. Service was very good... setting up tables and chairs to accommodate our party, water quickly served, drink orders taken, followed by appetizers snd entrees. Food was serviceable. The roasted Brussels sprout appetizer was awesome and they served maybe the best French fries around. Entrees included steak and frites, poke bowl with tuna, chi burgers, and chicken. I'd recommend using the valet parking at the hotel... makes the evening go very smooth as opposed trying to find a spot in Lawrenceville.
google avatar

Lindsey M.

Yelp
I love this spot for apps and drinks. Unfortunately, a couple of times my friends and I have gone, they've been closed, despite maps saying it was open. When we do go though, service is great and everything is tasty! I love the rooftop. Becca is a great bartender!
google avatar

Yelp
Went with a friend to grab drinks and something to eat. Went on a Friday and we were able to sit down right away. So I thought off to a great start! I was wrong the service was terrible. Our waitress hardly checked on us. It took probably 20 min to order our drink. The food came out pretty fast I will say. But we asked for our check and she forgot and we had to ask another server who was walking by for our checks. We ordered chicken taco egg roll and it was so good. We got the truffle fries which were good. And we also ordered the brussel sprouts which were good but definitely needed a dipping sauce with them. I got the sunset #2 to drink and it was good. The view was the best part because we were able to sit at the window and look out at the city

Yelp
Recently attended a wedding at this restaurant! Stephanie who was the event coordinator was excellent and extremely friendly! Food was excellent! The salad was delicious with pears, craisans, blue cheese crumbles and a nice dressing! I had the short ribs, smashed potatoes and asparagus! Everything was delicious! Sometimes service is spotty with events but the servers did a great job! Bartenders were excellent! The restaurant transformed into a very cool spot and the rooftop patio was awesome! Great spot for a special event!
google avatar

Yelp
Super underrated rooftop bar in the burgh! I found this place over 4 years ago, and they still make one of my favorite mules in the city. It is absolutely stunning from the views to the rooftop to the inside decor. Great spot for the girls to grab a drink!
google avatar

Yelp
Great service and great location with the super cool rooftop. I came here on a Wednesday night in the summer. Outside rooftop area had a decent amount of people. The inside area was basically empty but had windows open so you can feel the nice breeze come in. They do have a happy hour from 5 PM to 7 PM on weekdays but I came a little after that. I ordered their oxtail Birria tacos. It came with three pretty thin tacos and a white people version of consume lol. The soup was thick and nothing like how it's supposed to be. The tacos were decent for what they were but they certainly weren't birria. Also, the cheese was not proper. Their drinks make up for the food though. I had three cocktails and each one was better than the next. I appreciate the decent prices for such a nice bar. The service was great. Bartender was super attentive and cool. I would likely return here again to try their happy hour and probably stick to drinks

Yelp
Such a cute rooftop bar option in Lawrenceville! The view is gorgeous, especially at golden hour and sunset. They have a good amount of tables outside and inside, along with some bar seating. The servers were all very friendly and as quick as they could be, considering how busy they were on the Friday night I was there. My drink was delicious and I could tell they didn't short me on the tequila We didn't order any food, just drinks, but every single plate that passed by me smelled and looked amazing. We'll be back, for sure.
google avatar

Risha M.

Yelp
While on a business trip to Pittsburgh, I had a chance to visit this local gem. The roof top vibes were top notch! The drinks were delicious and we enjoyed a couple of apps that were also very good. The wait staff was friendly and checked on us frequently. The evening was such a vibe! I loved watching the sunset over the city and just the overall experience of the adorable venue.
google avatar

Marlee B.

Yelp
Perfect rooftop patio for a warm sunny day! The sangria was refreshing, and the Brussel sprouts were crispy. The staff were friendly and attentive. I'll be back to check out more of their menu!
google avatar

Ken L.

Yelp
This spot has some awesome rooftop views of the city! The rooftop is nicely decorated and the seating is airy. The staff were also super nice and friendly. Service was very fast. They have some decent happy hour deals for food and drinks here! We got some drinks and truffle fries and were definitely happy with our experience here. The sangria was decent although not my kinda sangria, it felt like the flavors weren't there and it was kind of bland. But it did the job! Well drinks were pretty good and strong! I didn't really try the food here but it smelled really good! Would definitely recommend hanging here on a nice day so you can sit outside.
google avatar

Bob L.

Yelp
When your cab is served in a wine glass that still has water dripping down the inside of it, I guess you know they at least washed it since the last customer! Turned me off from getting a fresh opinion on the food, but the view from the rooftop is great.
google avatar

Ryan M.

Yelp
Great food and drinks with great servers, highly recommend the Mule and the Steak Frites
google avatar

Halie G.

Yelp
Went to Over Eden and loved it! Great rooftop bar, can't wait to check it out in the summer with warm weather to overlook the beautiful cityscape. Indoor space is also lovely & they were so cutely decorated for valentine's day! Live music was there on Friday and made our experience!
google avatar

Gloria W.

Yelp
Stopped here around 6 for a quick happy hour and experienced a roughly 10-minute wait. Once seated, we waited for probably 10 or so minutes to get our order taken, and about the same amount of time to receive our drinks. My kiwi mule was great, and my friend's strawberry margarita was nice as well. We ordered truffle fries to share which were good, though pricey. The view was really nice, especially on a beautiful summer day. However, I would manage your expectations in terms of service speed, as we ended up being there much longer than initially intended.

Sean E.

Yelp
Great location. Bar tender was a stress case. About as friendly as hemorrhoid. Kinda trashed the whole experience. He clearly was trying to let me know I had violated his personal man cave.

Sean E.

Yelp
Tuna Pokey bowl was inedible. Saturated the entire thing in grocery store quality sweet-and-sour sauce. Candy-sweet and disgusting. The location is great. Everything else about Over Eden is an abomination. Even the Margarita was undrinkable. The bartender was a jerk. Even the valet guy was a jerk. QA at this place is totally nonexistent.
google avatar

Brianna G.

Yelp
I loved my view while outside at Over Eden. Located in Lawrenceville, this spot is a must see! You get a perfect view of the city with great drink selections. 10/10!
google avatar

R W.

Yelp
So we've been there multiple times and I can't understand why they can't get the basics right? No lying it's a beautiful spot and a great view with so much potential. However, they can't get the service down. People are always so stand offish and the service is slower than slow. I've gone at various times and it's the same no matter. The drinks are still over priced and weak for what you're getting. This last time we thought we'd just stop for a drink and stand/sit outside and enjoy the weather and view. First we were told we couldn't go outside unless we were eating. The deck was practically empty as was the inside. Weird? It's like they don't understand why people come. No one is coming to sit at a corner table and be ignored by staff? It's really amazing how someone can't get a proper service program going. The food is better but service still creates an uncomfortable experience.
google avatar

Yelp
Girlfriend and I have had nothing but excellent times here. Great view, strong tasty drinks, yummy apps, kind service. A nice "getaway" from the city
google avatar

Yelp
Service = great Views = great for social media and memories Food = so tasty! Drinks = didn't skimp on the alcohol def recommend!
google avatar

Yiying X.

Yelp
The rooftop view at this place is gorgeous! My friend and I went there for happy hour, tried their Montecastrillo, which is HH only, with the seasonal hummus. Great HH deal. My second drink of the night was Bourbon Firefly - best whiskey cocktail of the year, a perfection for summer!! For food, we had the tuna poke, Frito Misto (fried shrimp and calamari) and Grilled salmon - the tuna poke was an okay, recommend the other two!
google avatar

lobster s.

Yelp
I tried my best to like this place as the ambiance out their patio (rooftop area) was okay. But inside looked like a school cafeteria and the drinks were overpriced with zero alcohol. Why skimp on alcohol? The only reason I can think of is they probably don't like people throwing up in their bathrooms. The food was another issue. The chicken was carcinogenic burnt. Won't be returning.
google avatar

Emma B.

Yelp
Incredible view of downtown skyline! Great roof top bar with trendy vibe and an outdoor section. Bartenders are so kind they made me a specialty drink that was fabulous!
google avatar

Sarah B.

Yelp
mehhhh the negroni was alright the view was pretty dang good. not many people were there. service was good. go if you want a chill rooftop bar

Scott S.

Yelp
A cool rooftop bar and restaurant which has some really nice food but a great atmosphere (B)
google avatar

Tabitha W.

Yelp
Over Eden is one of my go to summer spots in the city. Not only is the view wonderful, they always have fresh, interesting choices beyond your regular burger and fries. The drinks were so good we had to get a second round because we couldn't just choose two! Our server was attentive and had great recommendations.
google avatar

Maggie Z.

Yelp
The rooftop is lovely and the view of downtown is stunning. A guest DJ made the night even better with fresh air and refreshing summer drinks, ranging from aperol spritz to NA beers. The patrons are an eclectic mix of folks in cocktail attire, club wear, casual Friday workwear, and street style; you really can't dress wrong! The bar was far too understaffed for the Friday night crowd and it took us 30min in line at the bar to close out our tabs. The staff was absolutely trying their best, but many were leaving to different bars solely because of how long it took to get drinks. I will absolutely be back on good-weathered weekdays (Monday-Thursday)!
google avatar

Yelp
There's an old saying. 'People can like your food but will return for the service.' That holds true with this place. I would return for the service alone. Maddy was our server and she was fantastic. It was quite busy when we arrived, but you wouldn't know it by her performance. She was quick, helpful and flashed a million dollar smile. In fact from what I saw everyone was working hard and efficient to keep it moving and everything tidy. From Maddy to the runners. And kudos to the guy cooking in the kitchen. He made not have been pumping rays of sunshine through that little window but he was pumping out awesome food at an inhumane pace. Great job Now let's talk about the food and drinks. The drinks were well made and no skimpy. I only had one but we ordered an array of food. The highest priced item is $22 with everything else averaging $11 Even the appetizers were under $10 And FYI Anton's almost famous burger should be famous! It was excellent The atmosphere was kicking and jovial. I highly recommend this place

Debbie F.

Yelp
Food was delicious. Views were enjoyable too! One think I did not like was how there wasn't a full waitress outside. If you wanted a drink or food you had to go to the bar inside to get it then grab a number for your table for them to bring it out. Wasn't bad, but just something to keep in mind when dining outside.
google avatar

Sara I.

Yelp
Very cool atmosphere! Pretty busy for a Tuesday night. We got a bacon ranch burger and a chicken sandwich which comes with fries. The fries were pretty standard- thin. The bacon ranch burger was juicy and delish. Only valet parking which is a con but cool place for something different.
google avatar

Daniela N.

Yelp
*Visited summer 2020* Due to the covid restrictions, they could only have a certain number of people at the rooftop at a time. We waited a little bit over an hour before we finally got a text for our table. The elevator right behind the host leads you to the rooftoop. The drinks were super. At the time they were still serving dinner food; very tasty and full of flavors. Check out the view !
google avatar

Cayla S.

Yelp
I have to give it to them, the views are amazing and unmatched. You enter a restored building where you climb in an elevator to be whisked away to the rooftop to overlook Lawrenceville and Downtown Pittsburgh in the distance. However, I must also admit the service was rather slow and the food wasn't that great for the price. The space wasn't really full or busy at the time that we went on a Thursday evening; I imagine the main reason was to meet pandemic guidelines. Whatever the reason, our drinks took a rather long time as we were a table of 5 with two carafes of sangria (which were excellent by the way) and two beers. We waited approximately 15-20 minutes for our drinks to come out. The red and white sangrias were both amazingly delicious. Looking at the menu for food, it's not extensive at all but for sure expensive. I settled on the meatloaf, brussel sprouts and sweet mashed potatoes. I loved the sprouts and potatoes, the meatloaf not so much. It just had a weird flavor for me. And it was a $20 meal for meatloaf... Overall nice experience but I don't think I'll be itching to return here in a hurry.
google avatar

Anokhy D.

Yelp
Went for happy hour drinks in a Tuesday, made reservations ahead of time, and the place was still poppin! I'm glad we had a reservation because the waitlist (when we left) was starting to grow. Our experience was great! There were three of us in the party, and we were served our drinks and fries within a reasonable time and by friendly staff. I got the sophisticated lady and the children's hospital drink (I forget the name), and they were delicious. The music wasn't too loud either, and the views were fan!
google avatar

Jacki B.

Yelp
Over Eden is a hidden gem on the border of Lawrenceville. You could almost miss it crossing the bridge, as the hotel that it's located on top of comes up on you fast. Once you enter the hotel lobby, there are signs directing you to the elevator to go to the top floor. The view from the top is amazing, and it feels like you can see the whole city from there! Due to COVID, the tables were very spread out (both inside and outside) and all of the windows were open. They have an extensive drinks menu and a unique food menu. While most of the options were a little out of the norm, everything we ordered was delicious! Overall, the service was pretty standard but the view and atmosphere really make stopping in Over Eden a MUST!

Yelp
My second time here. I agree with most reviews below. Unbeatable view and location and decoration EXCEPT the drink. For my first time here, I ordered a lychee cocktail, it was disappointing. My husband got beer and he said it was okay. This time we brought a friend over, I ordered cocktail again (different one) HOWEVER it was super alcoholic with no savoring taste at all. I asked for more honey & juice to add in then I managed to drink half a cup. My friend's mocktail was sour to death....We couldn't believe it. My husband's beer was just fine. I don't think I would ever come back again. Great view indeed! But everything else was below average. What a waste. Sigh~
google avatar

Anoushka P.

Yelp
The ambiance of this place is unbeatable! With a beautiful rooftop and view of Pittsburgh it's one of my favorite places o grab a drink. The drinks are quite hit or miss, but the food was pretty good.
google avatar

Grace K.

Yelp
This place has so much potential but it just isn't it. KILLER rooftop views makes this one of the best spots to be, but everything else is disappointing. I have given over Eden multiple chances to woo me, but every time the service is exceptionally slow, the food isn't great, and the drinks are way too overpriced for what you get. It took me 45 minutes to get a glass of wine! And the server hadn't even taken our food order yet. With a little revamping, this place will be the place to be.
google avatar

Barbara B.

Yelp
On a scale of romances to documentaries, Over Eden reminds me of The Starless Sea by Erin Morgenstern. Bird's eye view along with simple grandeur presents an experience. Over Eden, a rooftop bar in Lawrenceville, would be easy to miss if you weren't looking. Service was superb on an early Saturday night for our group of four. We enjoyed drinks, apps, and entrees. Every bite was delicious, and the grilled swordfish with butternut risotto was excellent. Pro Tip: Park in the hotel/valet parking lot, and don't forget to have your pass validated before you leave.

Yelp
Beautiful rooftop bar overlooking the Pittsburgh skyline in Lawrenceville. It's located on top of the tryp hotel. I was pleasantly surprised with the rooftop bar because I've been away from Pittsburgh my hometown for 8 years. Since then, so many new developments and things to do have spring up. It's a beautiful view and they have delicious drinks. I ended up ordering the crispy Brussel sprouts with the dangerous woman cocktail. The Brussels were delicious and crispy. I thought the homemade ketchup was very good and the dangerous woman was a play on the margarita. They had a sign at the entrance that there are reservation only but we just walked up without a reservation. They let us sit at the bar with no issues. Great instagrammable and rooftop spot to visit in the newly gentrified Lawrenceville.
