5/5 This restaurant ticked all of the boxes. My fiance made reservations for a date night, and it was incredible. We ordered the crab bisque and we were blown away. It was complex and hardy, utterly delicious. I ordered the lasagna which was amazing but she ordered the ragu, and I wish I had ordered the same. Incredible. Service was fantastic; attentive and pleasant. I absolutely recommend this place if you are looking for a romantic and intimate dinner with someone special.

Over The Moon has been on our bucket list for about 2 years. We finally secured a reservation and were welcomed into the muted stillness that is Over The Moon. Upon entering, you step into a dimly lit, eclectic setting that is elegant with just a bit of funky. The friendly, smiling staff verified our reservation and took us to our table. A quaint, cozy table for 2 with a deep arm chair, reminiscent of an older wing back chair, and a bench seat, piled high with pillows for comfort. That bench was like sitting on my own personal cloud. We ordered a beautiful bottle of wine to complement the duck breast, that we both knew we would be ordering and my husband had a salad... which he said was wonderful. He raved about the dressing! Now, that duck... Oh My Yummm! Crispy skin, perfectly medium-rare... succulent, aromatic, indulgently rich, exquisite... so many adjectives. My husband has not ever been a big fan of duck, but he loved it, he ate every bite! Then, there was Turtle Pie. When you have red wine left to finish... indulge in chocolate. The pie was sweet, without being overly so. It was silky and absolutely delectable. With a smaller menu, which allows attention to detail and perfecting their dishes, we will most definitely be back to this wonderfully eclectic, romantic eatery.

We were able to be seated as a walk in right away. The ambiance is extremely cozy and romantic, I’d only really recommend for date nights. Most people seemed to be there on a special occasion. The food was simply incredible. You can tell each dish was made to order. Fantastic butter shrimp which I think was our favorite dish and creamy Brussels sprouts appetizer (warning: lots of cheese). The seared halibut was bright and fresh. The brown butter scallop risotto was so rich and delicious, I couldn’t stop eating it. Great wine selection as well and the moondrop cocktail was strong and tangy. Sabrina our waitress took fantastic care of us. Didn’t have room for dessert but we will definitely be back whenever we’re in town!

This is my favorite restaurant in Tacoma as every meal I’ve had there is out of this world delicious. Their salmon dish and their burrata appetizer are my fav menu items but everything they make is amazing. The staff is amazing as well!

This place is outstanding. I took my girlfriend here on a Wednesday night with no reservation. We found free street parking nearby. The shadowy dining room gives this place a feeling of being tucked away from antique row. Compared to that other big restaurant on Broadway, the menu here feels small and curated. I chose the house special lasagna and my partner had the brown butter scallop risotto. Both dishes were so incredibly rich and full of flavor that neither of us could finish our plates. Since the menu is so small, we want to come back here and try everything. This is a great choice for a private dinner or a special celebration.

Over the moon cafe is absolutely one of our favorite restaurants in all of Tacoma! Incredibly delicious food, fantastic ambience and friendliest staff. Highly recommend!!

Truly lovely place. Warm and comforting environment, knowledgeable and friendly staff, and excellent food clearly made with love. Not the cheapest place in the world, but reasonable prices for the quality you get. Will definitely be going back!

Overall, a fine experience. The staff were attentive and the restaurant is cute with a nice atmosphere. The food was just okay. Nothing felt particularly unique, which can work if execution is exceptional, but nothing here stood out. The beet appetizer was good, if a touch too sweet for my taste; my partner loved it. The wedge salad was delicious, but the $13 Caesar was unimpressive. We split the ribeye (highly recommended by reviews and family); the flavors were fine, but it lacked a proper char and caramelized crust and about half the surface was gray. It was also almost 1/3 fat and had a few gristly bites. For better steak, I’d stick with Asado or El Gaucho. The mashed potatoes were fine and the seasonal vegetables were excellent. Portion sizes were fair for the price, aside from the disappointing Caesar. Were we satisfied? Yes. Would we return without a gift card? Undecided. We still have credit left and might give it another try later in the year in case it was an off night and try some of their other entrees.

I have been wanting to try this restaurant for a long time and finally got to visit with my husband. The food and drinks were phenomenal. We ordered the Brown Butter Scallop Risotto and the Duck Breast. The husband is into very well done meats and was able to get past the medium rare duck breast. It was juicy and tender. Risotto was cheesy and creamy, the texture almost like mashed potatoes. I ended up only eating the scallops and leaving most of the risotto to go. Generous plates, but felt only 3 scallops in a huge plate was a bit unfair. Still a great dish though. The ambiance was intimate and romantic. There were rose petals on the table, a treasure trove of stories, cozy arm chairs, dim lighting, and smooth jazz music in the background. Overall, we will definitely come back. This was worth the wait.

Delicious food! Always, never disappoints. We come every year for our dating anniversary. 11/16/2025 we had a wonderful server, I don't remember name but she was spot on with how she checked on us and delivered our food, and drinks and was able to make a cocktail NA for me which I appreciated. They always do such a nice job setting up our table when we let them know we're celebrating, they put a rose and petals on the table they have great music playing and the lights and everything fits the ambiance.

I first discovered this place when it was referenced in a book called "Best Places to Kiss in the Northwest". I took my then girlfriend (now wife), there sometime in the mid 2010's and we've been back about a dozen times since.....which is not enough. There is not a lot of dining square footage, but they do an exceptional job with the limited space. While you're close to other tables, you still get this sense of seclusion as the night goes on. I haven't had a bad or poorly executed entree since I've gone there. To the contrary, with each visit I struggle with the pull of wanting to try something new versus reordering that fantastic dish I had the last time. Great hidden restaurant in the Theater District. If this place were close to Pike Place Market, you'd need to call several weeks in advance to get a reservation on a Tuesday. If you're reading this review, give it a shot (You can't miss with a cup of the crab bisque + braised short ribs).

What a lovely date night spot! We had reservations on a weekday night and it wasn't too busy. Service was excellent and our server was very welcoming. We ordered the one starter and two entrees - the clams, braised beef short rib ragu and the chicken cacciatore. The ragu was my favorite dish from the evening. It's great they had a GF option as well. Prices were on the pricier side, so I personally would come here on occasion. But the dishes were really tasty and exquisitely made. Overall, the ambience was very intimate and cozy. We would come again to try the other seasonal dishes!

We went for my wife birthday and it was awesome. This place is in the original backstage of the theater that was once at this location. It's very well done with drapes, comfy chairs and romantic atmosphere. A good date night or special occasion place. It's not inexpensive and yes it's worth it for special occasions as I can't see eating her on a regular basis. The service is top notch, the menu changes and it's got a nice variety to choose from. I had the duck and it was meh. Tough, no flavor and just not good. The rest of our party had great meals and the appetizers were delicious. The drinks they made were great as well. Dessert? Yes please as it was vey good. Overall recommend this very cool place for date nights and special occasions.

My wife and I came here for our 8 year dateaversary. It is so romantic, the perfect spot for a date night or anniversary. We loved reading the cards left by other couples in the past with their love stories. The service was very good and the food was delicious. I would certainly recommend checking it out!

Hello my fellow Foodies! Well ya girl is ready to SING my praises about Over the Moon Cafe. To start you have to make a reservation and I believe there is a fee of $50.00 per person if you cancel less than 30 minutes before you reservation or if you just don't show up. I guess they have been burned too many times by no-shows. So be prepared. Next, this cafe is so cute and tucked away on this beautiful street. It's a very small and intimate place for a date night or to catch up with a friend. The music was amazing. Fit well with the atmosphere. We had a late lunch so we skipped the appetizers and drinks and went straight for the entree. I had the short ribs ragu pasta. Babe it was incredible. Tender slow cooked ribs, the pasta tasted fresh and the sauce was delicious. It was creamy, well seasoned but, not over powering. It was perfection. And they brought some fresh sourdough bread and butter. Hmmm mmm good! Perfect for a chilly fall evening. My hubby had the duck Breast with mashed potatoes and a vegetable medley. The duck was crispy and so tender on the inside. Again, seasoned well. Just salt and pepper. Potatoes were whipped nicely. The beautiful almost Ruby red sauce was so good. Our waitress Danielle was great! Always there. Kind, knowledgeable, and funny. The price I believe was reasonable. I will definitely return. One of my new favorite spots in Tacoma. Please check out Over the moon. You will not be disappointed. Come have drinks, flirt with your date, enjoy a meal and conversation.

What a lovely evening! This place is great for dates and anniversaries. Ambience is intimate and romantic. The only room for improvement was that my dining partner's chair sat a little low for the height of the table. Our server was super sweet and gave excellent recommendations. Dishes came out quickly from the kitchen, and even our beet salad was brought out by the executive chef himself. My butternut squash lasagna did not use pasta, and instead used layers of squash. It was hearty, flavorful, and delicious. Cocktails were fantastic, strong but well balanced. Although I didn't get a glass of wine, I looked at the wine list and found it to be very well thought out, with good variety to pair of their yummy dishes. I can see why Over the Moon is a Tacoma staple! I will be back.

My wife and I have been together for 39 years now and for her birthday, I was looking for somewhere special to take her for dinner. Over The Moon Cafe was better than all of the amazing online reviews indicate, and the food, the setting and service, was beyond AMAZING!! This is one time, where I embraced "where to eat" and won the price for husband of the year award for dinner decisions. If I could rate this experience higher, I would!

Food is delicious, cocktails were delicious, service was amazing, ambiance is quaint. What's not to love. All 4 of us at our table tried something different and we all loved our food! Order 2 appetizers and both were amazing as well!!!

We came in at 430 for a 5pm res on a Saturday night and were seated right away, looked like they had some more availability for walk-ins, too. Very cozy interior with quirky design, industrial and kind of like 90s romance but not in an old looking way. We ordered a few non-alcoholic drinks (which were delicious!) and a few starters, including the Caesar Sal (yum) and the scallop crudo (tasty passionfruit, crispy garlic, pickled Fresno peppers- like a deconstructed sriracha- really a nicely composed dish visually and culinarily.) The mains we tried were amazing as well- rich perfectly mantecatto (creamed) risotto, perfectly cooked scallops, the right amount of truffle and chive oil. The duck was perfect, crispy skin, well rendered fat beneath, with a perfect medium doneness- very tender- paired wonderfully with the cherry sauce/reduction and the rich delicious mash. I would say it seems like the seasonal veg may be batch roasted rather than cooked to order- but it was still delicious and had great texture to compliment the dish. The maitake primavera pasta was a real flavor journey in the best way- the fermented chili crisp blends perfectly with the basil and mushroom to create a unique combo that id never really encountered before- the mushroom was deep fried to be crispy on the outside but perfectly tender on the inside- permitting some really unique plating. The turtle pie was decadent but not too heavy to eat after three entrees- a lighter caramel with pecans beneath an awesome thick layer of ganache (chocolate truffle basically) - perfectly complemented by mint, whipped cream, and berry port reduction. Super pleased with our experience, and will definitely be back many times!

This fine restaurant has really become our 'go-to' when we're in town for Tacoma's Daffodil Weekend. We are never disappointed. THE ROSES: Excellent food and the prices are reasonable for your typical fine dining restaurant. Very good service. THE THORNS: No dedicated parking, so getting a nearby parking spot on the street on a Friday or Saturday night might be a bit dicey. THE VERDICT: Over The Moon Cafe is a solid performer on the downtown Tacoma dining scene. If you like hearty food prepared very well and a good value, you won't be disappointed. Highly recommend!

A colleague from work recommended Over The Moon and I knew I wanted to try this place because it was in my Tacoma bookmarks! Upon arrival, it's pretty dark inside the restaurant, giving it a more intimate vibe. The restaurant itself is actually pretty small too. We arrived around 5:30PM on a Friday night and beat the rush. It started to fill up quickly. I was told that the menu changes seasonally depending on the ingredients that they can source. I've posted pictures of the menu as of August 2024. They also have gluten free options, which we love to see inclusivity. I ordered the crab bisque and it was great! It was creamy and you can taste the crab bits. For my entree, I ordered the shrimp linguine. Also a creamier base, and there was a hint of something floral about it. The shrimp were big and juicy! It was a great dish and I have no complaints about it. The pricing is a little bit up there and I'm not sure it would be a regular place to go to when I'm in Tacoma, but it was a great first try. It's also hard to get reservations sometimes according to my colleague. Parking can be a little difficult when it's busy as it's located in an alleyway and only has parallel parking unless you park down the street or around McMenanims.

We chose this place for our anniversary and had booked it in advance. We had been here before and liked the atmosphere. There is no parking lot in the restaurant, so it is a paid street parking lot. But it's free after 6 pm, so it might be better to make a reservation after 6 pm. The atmosphere inside the restaurant feels like a time slip to the calm old atmosphere. Our table was filled with black tablecloths and red rose petals, and it seemed like they were welcoming our anniversary. The server woman was polite and pleasant. I asked for a warm cup of tea, and my husband ordered a Mezcal Mule. I ordered a starter for Gnocchi, which was not on the menu, it was was recommended for the day. This was very delicious. And we chose Over the Moon Lasagna and Brown Butter Scallop Risotto from the specialty menu. A chef brought me two dishes. Later, the server woman said that the risotto was vegetarian, not a scallop, and later, the scallop risotto was replaced. But we liked the taste of butternut better than the scallops. The lasagna looked like something was indistinguishable. Because it's a lasagna without pasta. Unfortunately, the taste was salty for us. Finally, we wanted something sweet, so I chose Vegan dessert. We chose as a healthy choice, but I took a bite, and I felt like I should have had another sweet dessert. We want to visit here another time.

Celebrated my birthday here with great friends and all of our dishes were sumptuous. Duck, short rib ragu, and salmon. And maybe an extra dish for all of us to split... the risotto. It was worth the pain of being overly full. The waitress and a chef were delightful when visiting our table and we were all smiles all night. If you have not been, check them out for a date night and bask in there cozy yet elegant atmosphere.

My partner reserved us a slot at Over the Moon Cafe for my birthday. We had arrived just on time, but they needed to find parking and so I went in at first and they immediately sat me down. The staff were completely understanding and accommodating and I didn't feel rushed at all. They even gave me a card and a fresh rose for the occasion! It truly made the ambiance all the more intimate and lovely. I ordered the duck breast while my partner ordered the shrimp linguini. We also ordered the prosciutto di parma appetizer. Our waitress was very kind, coming every now and then to check in and refill our waters. Unfortunately, they did forget that we ordered an appetizer, but apologized and actually fully comped the dish. Now that's great service! The food itself was phenomenal. The appetizer shortly arrived after our entrees and we could immediately tell how fresh the ingredients were. I particularly enjoyed the generous amount of burrata and how perfectly balanced and well-dressed the salad was. But my favorite part was the bits of pickled cantaloupe spiced with cinnamon. So phenomenal! It was my first time having duck breast and it was so tenderly cooked. I also particularly enjoyed the mashed potatoes and the reduction sauce that tied everything together. In terms of flavor profile, I loved the balance between savory and sweet in the dishes I tried. We will definitely be coming back again for a future special occasion. What a gem that I hope stays long in Tacoma!

Went here with some coworkers and had a great time. Good wine selection and food! I had the duck, if I was to go again I would get the steak. All of the appetizers and salads were delicious!

Food is amazing. Scallops with creamy risotto and a tarragon oil drizzle... just wow! My wife had the lasagna, and yes it does not have pasta, but don't let that fuss you, it is incredible and the butternut squash "noodles" might actually be better. And I love pasta! Ambiance is small, quiet, dark and romantic. Perfect place for a dinner for two. This place is great!

Over the moon is always amazing. It has become one of our favorites. Danielle gave us exceptional service and as always our food was amazing. We sat upstairs this time and it's a bit brighter, but still intimate and lovely. I'm sure we will be back many times.

We haven't been here for several years as we were turned off by having to secure a reservation with a credit card and threat of charging $50 if we couldn't make it for some reason. I still think this is ridiculous but it was a milestone birthday for my wife so I did it. Parking was pretty good and free. Ambience was great as always. The service was ok but nothing to write home about. The food was really good. We had lobster bisque soup, wedge salads (really good), lasagna, and jumbo shrimp pasta. Overall a really enjoyable meal for my wife's birthday. I'm taking 2 stars off for a black foreign object in my beer which was warm and also the glass was only 3/4 full with the reminder foam. A restaurant of this caliber and price range really needs to have clean glasses, cold beer, and know how to tap or pour a beer correctly and give a full glass. This really kind of got the meal off to a bad start. Probably not going back anytime soon.

Perfect for my wife's birthday dinner. Everything we ordered was great. Best out to eat meal we have had in years. Starter grilled shrimp, wedge salad best in long time, both ribeye steak and short ribs perfectly done and really nice flavors.

Was taken here for a birthday dinner with my sister, it was a Saturday evening and it was busy! The dim atmosphere and tight seating made the narrow space of full tables a little loud for us but I would also describe it at "cozy". We started off with the crab bisque which was good but I picked shell out of my soup a couple times which made me cautious eating it. My sister ordered the duck which she said was underwhelming and I ordered the short rib ragu that I'd give a 7/10. I personally would not return as the flavors did not justify the prices for me but it was an experience and had been on our list of restaurants to try for some time. Service was pleasant.

Ate dinner with a friend here last night. It was my second time here. The server was sweet and competent. The ambiance is moody and dark. It's not a giant menu but both times I have been so impressed with the entrees. I would say the portions are pretty large for an upscale place. Highly recommend!

one of my favorite restaurant experiences ever!! I took my boyfriend here for Sweetest Day (valentine's day for Men, Ladies ;)) and it was such a cozy, romantic vibe. I asked that there be a flower on the table for a social touch, & they delivered! the food & drinks? ON POINT! the music? BANGING! They were playing all the old Soul classics. We loved the Crab Bisque & shrimp appetizer the most. Sabrina was super down to earth and helpful with making our first time there memorable. The bowl of hand written love notes from past diners was such a unique touch & we loved reading through them!! My boo & I of course left notes of our own :) we will DEFINITELY be back!

Family owned and wonderfully operated! Wow y'all, 10 out of 10! (If that was a thing on Yelp! LOL) My weekly "Mom Night Out" dreams have been fulfilled! Cozy and intimate corner table with great food, amazing cocktails and a beautiful book of poetry!!! This place forever has my heart! I was really excited to try the food here as I have recently embarked on a Gluten-Free journey! Pleasantly surprised to see so many GF options on their menu. Started with the shrimp that was seasoned and cooked to perfection. The Ceasar salad was cold, crisp, and loaded with shaved/grated Parmesan which I LOVE. And, please don't get me started on the Ribeye!!!! It was a showstopper literally and visually! All the food was deliciously prepared and plates. This place is small and intimate so the customer service is important and they definitely exceed expectations. Warmly greeted at the door, attentive to my needs, swift and efficient. Beautiful option for an intimate celebration or a beautifully romantic date night!

This is a smaller restaurant on a side street in Tacoma consisting of two dinning areas - one on the entrance level with windows providing a street view and a lower level where the kitchen is located. The restrooms and kitchen (from limited glimpses) were clean. I think we were lucky to get a table for three on a Wednesday night. The hostess and server were very friendly and helpful. We ordered the short ribs ragu and two brown butter risotto dishes - one with scallops and one with mushrooms. The latter was to accommodate a vegetarian diet. Warm, delicious, bread was served first. Before we finished the bread we were served our main dishes which seemed a bit rushed. All three meals were fantastic. The risotto was rich with a prominent taste of butter. The short ribs were tasty but slightly tough compared to others I've tried. This restaurant comes up on searches as vegetarian friendly and has a limited selection of those dishes. They can also substitute ingredients to meet individual needs like our mushrooms in lieu of scallops risotto. There were small wooden boxes on each table where guests could leave messages about their meals or describing a special occasion. A nice touch. Overall, a good experience and I would consider returning if ever in Tacoma again.

Came here last night for dinner and it was definitely a place to have always wanted to eat.. the food was just amazing and full of flavor. The ambiance of the restaurant was set up soo cute, low light with candles at eat table.. the service was even great as well. French 75's are really tasteful, you can't miss out

Over the Moon Café completely exceeded my expectations. From start to finish, everything was exceptional--the food, the service, the cocktails, and the cozy atmosphere all came together to make a perfect evening. Every dish we tried was absolutely delicious, and the sourdough bread in particular was perfection--warm, fresh, and the kind you can't stop eating. The cocktails were creative, balanced, and honestly some of the best I've had in Tacoma. Service was warm and attentive without ever being rushed, and the atmosphere struck that perfect balance between intimate and welcoming. It's clear a lot of care goes into every detail here. Over the Moon Café is truly a gem--I can't wait to come back!

Second visit here did not disappoint. Absolutely love the vibe of this restaurant, the eclectic furniture and decor. Makes me feel all the good feels. Our dinner was superb, I had the braised beef ragu, so delicious, ate it all. My hubby had the ribeye and he enjoyed his as well. We also shared the crab cakes, so good. Loved the sauce. If I had to give one critique the potatoes served with the steak were warm/cool, versus hot. Overall amazing and will be back sooner than later. Think next time it will be girls night!

We celebrated my birthday at Over the Moon Cafe 1 our first visit to this wonderful, family-owned and operated delight, tucked away on Opera Alley in Tacoma. What a delightful dinner we had! The atmosphere is warm and cozy, with soft lighting and a quiet vibe, with soft background music of pop tunes from my youth. It was cute how they had a little book of birthday fortunes (which turned out to be eerily accurate) and poems. Our server was fantastic, providing efficient and friendly service. She was attentive to our needs and helpful in selecting our choices. Our water glasses were kept topped off and each course came out promptly and well-timed, without making us feel rushed. We started off with seasonal craft cocktails, which were both festive and tasty! I had the special Black Moonhattan Old Fashion made with Four Roses Bourbon, Amaro, Bitter Truth aromatic bitters & Tempus Fugit Creme de Noyaux. My husband chose the spiced rum with apple cider and he loved it. For our first course we both chose the crab bisque - and I'm glad we did! The thick, creamy soup was filled with crab meat and served piping hot (as a soup should be served). It was so flavorful and satisfying! I would go back just to have a big bowl of this soup along with the warm, crusty sourdough bread. For entrees, my husband chose the Cioppino, which had a delicious broth and was filled with delectable seafood offerings. He said it was the best cioppino he's had! I went with the Braised Short Rib Ragu, slow cooked with red wine, carrot, tomato, celery, garlic and onion, seasoned with bay leaf and thyme, finished with cream over rigatoni. The flavor was intense and there was a generous amount of the tender, flavorful short rib meat. I could eat this every day! We had intended to bring a lovely bottle of Caymus Cabernet, but left it at home, so we went with two glasses of hearty Zinfandel which paired nicely with our entrees. Since it was my birthday, we ordered dessert. I chose the Grannysmith apple bread pudding with bourbon ginger sauce and topped with lemon cream and some vanilla bourbon ice cream. This was the only course that we found underwhelming. The bread pudding was good, but the lemon cream didn't pair well - it was too tart and masked the flavor of the apples and bread pudding. This dessert would be so much better if served only with a scoop of the delicious vanilla bourbon ice cream and no lemon cream. A better sauce would be salted caramel, burnt sugar or a traditional hard sauce. Next time we will try a different dessert. Our server suggested the Turtle pie and we should have listened to her! Regardless of the disappointing sweet ending, the dinner was smashing! Such delicious, hearty food and cheerful, friendly service in a quiet, intimate setting - a perfect place for a romantic evening to celebrate a special occasion, or to satisfy your craving for a hearty, flavorful meal.

Beautiful little spot for an anniversary or special occasion. Intimate setting with a lot of charm and attention to detail. Our waitress was very knowledgeable, kind, and helpful. The food was fantastic. We ordered the beet and goat cheese salad appetizer that was brought out by the head chef himself. I had the king salmon and my partner had the squash lasagna both were delicious. Looking forward to coming back and trying more of their menu!

We were over the moon excited that we selected this place. Birthday dinner with reservations. Dimly lit table by the window for four. Out server was very informative of the entrees. They have table rules of length if sitting, which is fair cause it's a small restaurant with lots of people wanting to eat. The items me order were perfectly cooked and we enjoyed our choices. The duck! The prime rib! The shrimp.

I purchased a gift card for my daughter & her new husband for Christmas. When making the reservation for New Years Eve, I informed the staff it would be an anniversary for both - celebrating their first date 12/31/21 and the night they got engaged - 12/31/22. They were married in Sept 2024, and over the moon had table decorations for their anniversary and served up wonderful meals - and provided the ambiance any couple would really appreciate. My daughter and SIL were absolutely "over the moon" with positive feedback not only for their exquisite food but also the special celebration they were able to experience thanks to this wonderfully romantic establishment! KUDOS to Over the Moon for giving my daughter and SIL a beautiful memory they'll treasure for years to come!

Their food is fabulous! Everything they serve is the absolute best of that thing: short ribs--the best; gf lasagna--THE best (and totally beats regular lasagna ; shrimp polenta--the best anywhere. Not on the menu right now but their lemon chicken breast was amazing. And their lobster bisque--absolutely the best anywhere. And their special dessert--absolutely incredible. The service is excellent and the ambience is lovely.

This is a small place with an intimate setting and dim lighting. Great for date night! The service is truly amazing and very attentive. The cocktails are delicious and craftily made. My husband enjoyed the mezcalita mule. He ordered the second one as a double. I had a margarita, which was perfect and not overly sweet. For appetizers we had a shrimp dish and a prosciutto dish. The shrimp were perfectly cooked and had a buttery sauce which was so good that we cleaned the plate using it as a dip for our bread. The prosciutto appetizer came on top of a bed of greens with burrata. It had pickled cantaloupe in it too. That along with the balsamic glaze was excellent. It was a perfect mix of sweet, salty, and acidic. I would go back for that alone. For the main dish I ordered the duck, which came with mashed potatoes and roasted veggies. My husband had the short rib ragu. Both dishes were artfully prepared and cooked to perfection. The short rib was so tender it melted in your mouth. This place is definitely a gem and we plan to return soon. Make a reservation ahead of time to ensure your spot!

If I could give more than 5 stars I would. I had been wanting to take my husband here for quite some time and we finally got lucky enough to secure a reservation to celebrate his birthday. When we arrived, he was given a birthday card and a rose. We ordered the ribeye steak which is the best we've ever had (I took him to Daniel's Broiler last year). We split it and it's a good thing as it was a very large steak. We had the bourbon icecream for dessert which was absolutely delicious! My husband tried the Moondrop and an espresso martini, he said both were excellent. From when we entered the restaurant to when we left, the service was impeccable. The ambiance is so romantic. It's low lit and warm and with the music playing, it felt like we could sit there for hours. There is plenty of parking and the stroll through Opera Alley was equally as romantic. I had not known that there was this unique little part of Tacoma, what a pleasant surprise! This will be a regular date night restaurant for us, such a magical night, truly a 10 out of 10 experience!

Took my lovely girlfriend out for a little date night the other night. The ambience was cozy from the dim lighting and older styled architecture. The service was very welcoming and considerate, as whoever had set up our table wrote a custom card I had requested (with a little bean drawing!). The food of all things was my absolute favorite part of the night. I had gone with the chicken cacciatore, while my girlfriend went with the braised short rib ragu. We also shared a clam starter at the beginning. Fabulous tasting dishes. Absolutely would visit again. You should take your special someone out here!

I have been to this hidden gem in Tacoma twice now, and I will be coming back, for sure! It's a very cozy, dimly lit, romantic restaurant, with incredible food, excellent servers, and great ambience! It also just so happens, that just about everything on the menu is gluten-free. A nice bonus for those of you who have a tough time finding fine dining with lots of options! Highly recommend this restaurant!

Overall it was okay, risotto was undercooked and food was alright. Service was good. Ambiance was decent. It's not an upscale experience for the food presented and the lack of flavor.

-Anniversary dinner date- Absolutely amazing service, from the waitress to the hostess, hospitality was warm and welcoming. The atmosphere was romantic, quaint and quiet. Our table had rose petals scattered over it, a full rose and a box of love notes and letters from previous guests. The food was phenomenal. The lobster bisque was savory, with a large amount of meat served compared to other restaurants we have visited. The arugula salad was light, sweet and well balanced. The main course of short ribs and lasagna were perfect! We couldn't finish the serving and had to bring the rest home. 5 Stars, thank you for a beautiful night.

I went to this beautiful restaurant on the 22nd of this month to celebrate my birthday and was overwhelmingly impressed with the attention to detail to food, service, and ambiance. Chef Michael G. went above and beyond to insure our experience was very special. I was presented a rose at the table, a birthday card, and the most beautiful food presentation I have ever seen. Service, drinks, and ambiance were extraordinary, but it was truly the delicious meals that sets this place apart from the rest. Thank you Michael and the wonderful staff for an unforgettable experience. We will be back on future special occasions!

-10 STARS It takes a lot for me to write this type of review. Here it goes. I have wanted to come here for awhile. I have worked for 7-James Beard chefs and at the 3-Michelin Manresa under Chef Kinch. I was privileged to work with Anthony Bourdain. I never get out unless it is to be "happy" and have fun. This experience did not leave me happy. I am furious and it has been going on for weeks of games. Back and forth of phone calls. I was charged $146.00 for three drinks. I asked for Makers Mark or a good bourbon for my Manhattan (I thought I would treat myself - I never get out), the server said "OH, you want top end? We do not do Makers Mark, I have a great one" ME: "Okay" Now I will tell everyone, if I had done this to anyone? Without discussing what I was serving or cost in downtown San Francisco? I would be fired. I would never get away with charging $46.00 per drink unless it was written or understood. PERIOD. Yet when I call and ask to speak to the owner (This is incredibly unethical and egregious), nope, I get the SAME person who ran the table and overcharged us. Shady AF. I am incredibly disappointed with this place. Food: Duck came out more medium-well than rare - that I can get over. You never told me you were going to charge me $46.00 per drink. Egregious and unethical. You are not an ethical restaurant, staff or ownership. All of us in the industry will never be back and will be sure to tell everyone to not bother. NOTE to everyone: Check and watch your bill. The "general manager/aka server" is skimming.

It was our first time eating here last night despite this place being on my list for a couple of years. The ambiance is really nice. Dark, cozy, great date night spot. Our server was wonderful and had great recommendations. I had the Moonhattan and it was good, but sweet. My boyfriend just had beer. The bread is really good. For entrees we had the ribeye and the salmon. I really loved the salmon. Not something I'd normally order but our server said it was her favorite thing on the menu. I can see why. Delish! We shared the turtle dessert and it was really good too. The food and whole overall vibe here is great. Probably in my top 5 favorite places to eat dinner in Tacoma.

Very cute and private and intimate if you're looking for a small restaurant but a good one! Very fair pricing for how good their plates are, the crab soup & margaritas are good! Our dishes were great and after our drinks and food was still under $100. Great service from when you walk in and when you are at your table they check in and great at explaining the menu

I will never not give this place 5 stars. This restaurant is our all time favorite for a date night. The parking can be a little hard to navigate so I recommend getting there 10-15 minutes early to make sure you can find a close spot. The service is impeccable, no matter who your server is. The food & drinks are consistently excellent. I always get the Martini... best I've ever had. We also get the steak and have it split for two. It is always cooked to perfection, along with tender vegetables & their delicious (best I've ever had!) mashed potatoes. I HIGHLY recommend dining here!

Over The Moon is an all-time amazing experience in Tacoma. Small, quiet, intimate, and often romantic, come here for a date, a reunion with a special friend, or as a treat all your own. Every dish is lovingly crafted and prepared to perfection. Every drink is magnificent. I've been here many times and I've always left happy and satiated.

It has been far too long. Love this place. Celebrated my birthday here last night with my wife. The staff made it a very special evening; a rose with my place setting, a "Happy Birthday" on the desert plate. The jumbo shrimp appetizer was amazing. I had a steak, wonderful flavor and presentation. She had halibut, also delicious. Very quaint atmosphere and a chef who is the greatest. Thank you- I am "Over the moon" for this place.

Great food and service. Very intimate atmosphere. It's our go to when I want top notch food and cozy dining experience. We frequent at least once a month. You won't be disappointed!
