Also, I realized about the “new management “, a kindly and extremely attentive couple of young people (Even though they seemed to be part of the same family), they imprint a new vision of attention and service, making this good place into a much better one. Furthermore, the food it’s even better, somehow. Congrats.! Delicious food, authentic Chinese flavor, I loved it! I've tried it a few times and I always have a good experience, the workers are very friendly, they speak Spanish too. This time I ordered it for home delivery and it was surprisingly fast. I recommend it

i will never be ordering from here ever again. never had a issue with their food/services until yesterday which was February 28th, 2025. yesterday i ordered delivery which was shrimp, broccoli, & white rice with gravy. after about 25 minutes my food came and when it was time to open the food bag their was clear thick slimy stuff all over the inside of the bag, the sweet and sour sauces and my food trays. i didn’t know what exactly what that could be but it sure looked like someone’s sperm so i didn’t eat any of the food. since i was very concerned i called overseas and spoke to the front counter lady tiffany and explained to her what was all over my food bag and trays and asked isn’t the gravy suppose to be brown because every gravy i have had is brown not clear. tiffany stated yes their gravy is brown and I repeated stated mines wasn’t brown and how it looked as if someone put their sperm all over my food. she then said ohh yeah the other front counter boy was here and paused and said let me ask my manager. she put me on hold and came back saying yes the manager said the gravy is brown and that they don’t know what to do and offered me extra gravy for my next order. I hung up after that because why would I want to continue to buy from somewhere where it looked as if someone put their sperm on my food that is very disgusting for someone to sit and do that to someone’s food. I have attached a picture of what it looks like also and on the other side it was alot and just all over the bag.

Food has always been good but noticed that’s it’s been beyond better than usual. I noticed this younger couple always in the front and popping orders out ever since I’ve seen them I’ve noticed the food is better than it was before (it was already good!) This is a great spot and it’s always clean inside. Clean establishment Good food Definitely get a bang for your 💲

Sweet-and-sour shrimp doesn’t taste the same anymore ☹️But everything else was good.

Food is really good I was surprised. The beef low mein is tender! The orange chicken is a must try!

I'm not bragging but I've been ordering from this place since 1995 & I've eaten at various Chinese restaurants other than overseas some good some horrible but the only reason overseas is my go to spot is obviously the taste the service & specially the amount always satisfying And you get that great feeling after eating like it was the best choice 😋 Thank you overseas for the great years of great tasting food.

My wife has enjoyed many meals from Overseas but I have been reluctant because of food allergies. Tonight, I called the restaurant and explained my concern over severe peanut and cashew allergies. Because of our language differences, the woman I spoke with repeated my questions back to me because she wanted to accurately understand the issue. She then walked me through how they handle nuts and what menu items I should avoid. We then ordered online and our food arrived quickly, still piping hot. Everything we had, see below, was delicious and tasted fresh. So often, restaurant food is too salty in an effort to cover up for blandness. That was not the case here. Crab Meat Rangoon Fried Dumplings Hawaiian Fried Rice Shrimp Lo Mein Chicken Lo Mein Mongolian Beef spicy In sum, Overseas is highly recommended!

I ordered a few dishes from them today as I have in the past but this time around it was not that great. I ordered a triple delight for the first time from here but it wasn't prepared the way I'm used to. I described the item while on the phone with the representative as veggies cooked in a creamy white sauce yet when I received it it was cooked in a brown sauce, not good. Instead of egg rolls, they sent spring rolls, which were not good at all, the filling was not cooked through, horrible. I called the restaurant after receiving the goods but the resolve was not great. I spent over $50 for my order and was very disappointed.

I ordered from the restaurant as I always do and I received my food early as usual. However this time in my soup there was a bug. When I called to report this the manager offered 10% off my next order. I was not interested in compensation hover ever they didn't even offer to compensate for the meal. I have attached a photo of what my son had on his spoon.

Overseas China offers some of the best Chinese cooking in not only Berwyn, but Oak Park , Forest Park and River forest. They food has distinct flavorings for each dish. They are steps above the typical salty cornstarch gravy poured over dishes at so many places. They are a small, hard working, family operation. As such , there are days you may need to wait a bit longer for your order. They do try to warn you in advance. They are most definitely worth the wait.

Finally got a chance to try this place. After 30 years of passing it by. Ordered beef and broccoli (with extra beef) beef fried rice and egg rolls. The beef with the beef and broccoli was fantastic. Great flavor. Came out piping hot. Actually all of it did. The egg rolls were decent and holy cow.. the beef in the beef fried Rice was huge! Some of the biggest pieces of beef I've ever put in my mouth ( no this isn't a knock on my ex) from a beef fried rice. Try it!!!

After years of driving by this place, I finally let my curiosity/closure of my previous regular place (NJoy) for Chinese food propel me into placing an order. I'm glad I did because they've become my new regular because their food actually tastes great & I can actually taste the small nuances of spices in their dishes. I HIGHLY recommend the Singapore style noodles if it's your first time to taste what I'm talking about & I think all the typical dishes are very well done especially Szechwan beef/Lo Mein. I would also give kudos to the portion sizes, there are quite a bit of dishes that feel I'm getting extra value.

Have been long time looking for a good Chinese food place. Glad i finally found it. Food is great and i get delivery in less than 45 minutes

Beware! Our order was incorrect and when we called to ask for the correct order they said they'd be happy to exchange it! We said are you going to give it to someone else and they said yes we will serve it again! Makes you wonder if your deliver order is recycled! Scary and disgusting thought for sure. Won't be ordering from them anymore If we could give negative stars we would.

The food here is very delicious, and I'm one of those people that has no favorites whilst ordering a variety of different dishes. The reviews here are very divisive, prompting my own. I've eaten here many times, ordered carry out, and have had delivery - and have never once had a problem with their service. Things to know that I've noticed over eating here the past few years: - they are usually busy: if you dine-in or carry out your food is likely set on priority and will come out quickly - dine-in dishes contain significantly more vegetables, take that information as you like - when ordering online, give them a brief call to confirm your order (I rarely order online because I like to get verbal confirmation for anything) - the main waitress is different from the lady manning the front register, but be vocal if you'd like something because either is very responsive and nice

Out of all Chinese / Japanese spots in the area this one is my go to. Because of the service & quality in food. When the kids & I are in the mood for some Noodles or Some fire fried rice this place never fails.

we had orange chicken and sweet and sour chicken, the orange chicken was over fried and too crunchy to enjoy, the sweet and sour chicken was discolored and brown and the soup had spaghetti noodles? been coming here for years for the great food but something fell off.....

Customer service is terrible, I place an order at 6:58 when I had arrived to pick up my order at 7:30 I had asked them if my food was ready and they refuse to answer my question charged me and then have me wait there another 45 minutes for my food. Terrible service terrible food do not waste your time money or energy!

This might change if I ever receive my food. It's been over 2 hours and still have not received my delivery. Called 3 times keep getting oh a few more minutes we are busy. My order was nothing complicated. Will think long and hard before I order from here again. So much for supporting small business

Horrible customer service. Called to ask status of delivery order and the person that answered hung up on me. Took over an hour to deliver. Do not recommend to order delivery here. First time and last time ordering from here.

Not bad and not great but passable. I ordered egg rolls, fried wontons & sesame chicken. I am not sure if it is me not liking egg rolls anymore or what, but I did not like the filling. The fried won tons were awesome. The sesame chicken was good, just a little spicy though and not enough rice to chicken ratio. Also hate that it comes in Styrofoam....at least the main dish does. I will try something else there next time.

We ( myself and family ) Have ordered food from here for many years. Because flavor is great. We usually stick to our favorites chicken fried rice, chicken low mein, chicken Kung bao. Customer service is friendly quick they repeat the orders to make sure they got it right. I think time wise it is normal. I have had to wait a regular time for the food to be cooked. I think with everything everyone has experienced recently ( lockdowns & stay at home orders ) we should have worked on patience. We cannot expect for everything to be done in a snap of a finger. This place is a mom and pop local business I am more than happy to continue to patronize for my future meals. They live off of our orders and now more than ever small businesses need our support. You guys are doing a great job.

I've been ordering from this place for years and I've never had a problem with the food. Though if you order from online it might take longer then usual compared to calling them. great food and great people

My go to for Chinese. Friendly staff Already know my order when I call always delivered HOT and fresh. Simply the best.

First time ordering from Overseas and I was very disappointed! I placed an online order and an hour later I'm still waiting! I just got off the phone with someone who confirmed that my order was never made cause they called to confirm my order and I didn't answer. I never received a call, I never received my order to say the least.

Best Chinese take out restaurant in my opinion. Been ordering here for 10 years + and they never let me down! Highly recommend to everyone.

I purchased lunch for 5 people. I spent about 50.00 for all of us, which was not bad at all. The food was pretty good for the price. I placed my order over the phone and picked it up at the restaurant. The dining room was not out of this world, but seemed very clean. I will visit again and actually dine in.

the food is very good. I absolutely LOVE their chili oil because the seeds the crispy and garlic flavor. its the best! but recently the chili oil has been..like any other..bland and not crispy..which is a shame..so now I buy the chili oil from another restaurant and come here for the food.

The food is good but they don't answer their phone and when you get them on the phone they hang up on you mid sentence. Took me 3 calls to order

I can't speak for the meat eaters, but I'm a vegetarian and this was the worst sesame tofu I have EVER tasted. It was a "special" order, so I couldn't order a small and ended up wasting the entire dish. The sauce was slimy and felt like glue in my mouth. They were super nice, which is why they get 2 stars instead of one. I won't be visiting that restaurant again. They clearly don't know how to cook tofu.

We have been looking for a new Chinese place after our place of the last 10 years is suddenly not so good anymore. We have ordered here 4times so far and we are impressed. Delicious food. Speedy delivery and friendly service. I think this will be our new Chinese go to.

I called placed my order, asked for sweet and sour sauce please no duck sauce. Food gets here only duck sauce and the rice is under cooked and was missing flavor the crab rangoon not good at all. I have 30.00 worth of food that no one is going to eat :( .

Great food. Okay portions. Horrible service. Love the vegetable lo mein, egg rolls, vegetable rolls, Mongolian beef and fried rice. Ordered their Special lo mein last night and there were exactly 2 shrimp in it and a few pieces of chicken. They are cheap and petty at Overseas Chinese Restaurant and never offer any kind of consolation for order errors or skimpy portions. if there was any other place for good Chinese food in my area, trust me, I would never ever in my life order from these people ever again.

My husband and I love Overseas China!!! We have had lots and lots of Chinese food throughout the course of our marriage and we live in Berwyn and had never tried this restaurant! We were definitely missing out! I ordered for pick-up, so we did not dine-in. I ordered Chicken Fried Rice, Orange Chicken and Kung Pao Chicken. They were huuuuge portions. The woman that took my order was polite and very sweet to my 3 year old when we went to pick up our order. :)

Ordered delivery from this place and they give you more veggies and greasy noodles more than meat. Also, the quality of their food is not worth the high prices. They also charge extra for soy & sweet & sour sauces!!! GREEDY BASTARDS!! OH and I had an online coupon that did not have an expiration date and they refused to honor it. NEVER AGAIN.

More like 3.5 stars. At times...4 stars. Since moving to Berwyn...this has been my go to spot for Chinese food. My brother recommended this spot. While I do enjoy the flavor. My order has been inconsistent at times. I have found that ordering over the phone doesn't work if you are making special requests. So please go in person if you are. The customer service is always friendly which I appreciate. While there has been some inconsistencies, it's not bad enough for me to never go back. I would definitely recommend to family and friends as well.

The dinner special is actually very big, the food is DELICIOUS, & they threw in a chicken soup. I ordered a regular white rice on the side as well, the dinner special came with a fried rice, and it came in what must restaurants make a large. So impressed, the food was delicious, inexpensive, & great portions. Thanks again!

I used to order before and always has been a pleasure but now the girl who takes the phone orders needs to learn some manners and stop been so rude.

Really good takeout. The best we have found so far in the area. Real vegetables, meats cooked well, good flavors. It was our first time, but we enjoyed it! Will definitely go back.

Worst experience by far! Been waiting over an hour for my order which was only two small plates. There are people waiting in the lobby that placed orders over 2hrs ago. My usual was not open today but this is my first and last time here!!

Service here is practically nonexistent. Even with only 2 tables in use the waitress can't be bothered to come check on you more than once when they take your order. Food is good tho

Randomly found this place today. No frills and nothing fancy but good quality food. The portions are HUGE! We had Orange Chicken, spicy veggie fried rice, veggie fried rice, crab rangoon, three sodas, and veggie egg foo young for $45. Three people ate seconds and we still had enough of each entree to completely fill four styrofoam to-go containers. There was literally enough food for 5-6 people to eat as much as they wanted. Lots of fresh vegetables in the vegetable fried rice! Would definitely go back again.

Although the wait may be long for delivery, it is worth it. I have not been disappointed with anything I've ordered from them. The shrimp chow mein is my favorite because you can taste the freshness. I've eaten in the restaurant as well and the portions are just right.

We are new to the area. We tried out Overseas China based on a recommendation on a community board. First time, we were hungry and desperate. It went over well. The second time, however, the egg rolls were pretty good, BBQ pork decent, if not a little too sweet, but the crab rangoon was skimpy on filling and both the shrimp lo mein and mongolian beef were over-sauced and under-veggied. Huge portions and good value for money, I suppose, but the lack of veggies and dense and overly sweet sauces have us searching elsewhere. Big old underwhelming 'meh' on this one.

I ordered the Overseas China Special $9.95. Not good at all. Only 3 pieces of shrimp. The chicken in it was just OK. But the BBQ pork was fatty and chewy. Every piece. I called them about it. Nothing. No offer to substitute anything else. And I said then I'll review it YUCKY! The pot stickers were so so. The dipping sauce for those tasted just like soy sauce.

Very friendly people, huge portions, less than mediocre food. My standard of judging is always pan fried combination noodles. In this case, the sauce was admirably loaded with meat, but a lot of bean sprouts were by far the primary vegetable. Also, there was way too much sauce for the tiny box of overfried noodles. Chicken fried rice was an immense portion for the price, but wasn't good enough for that to be a bonus. Egg rolls were good for sure and if there's a next time maybe I'll just eat those. This place is almost spitting distance from my house, and I'm still on the lookout for better. I'd take it over Panda Express, but I might pass here and just order Mexican instead.

I've been doing take out from here for as long as I could remember. The fried rice is the best and I also recommend the Orange chicken. Recently went there the other day and they have remodeled the place, so it looks very good.

Probably the best Chinese food I have had so far.Must try is the Mongolian beef,any of the lo mein,fried rice,egg foo young,and the shrimp kow...would have given 5 stars but the egg rolls are too small.

Got a menu in the mail for Overseas China and thought we'd give it a try since it is close by. Placed an order for delivery around 7:30 pm Friday night. Was told it would take 45 minutes to 1 hour. Well, an hour and a half passed and still no delivery. I called back at 9:00 pm and told the woman the food had not been delivered yet. I restated my order, and she said it back to me but with a nervous laugh and said she was sorry and that the guy just left with the order. In 15 minutes the order came. The food was very hot, which makes me think they made it when I called back. The food was good, but due to how long it took to get the order, we will not be calling them for delivery again. So it's back to ordering from J-Wok at 6643 Roosevelt. Funny thing, Overseas China is basically around the block, so the delivery should not have taken that long. J-Wok is farther away, and we get our orders within a half hour.

I have loved this place since I first ate there 5 years ago. But the recent changes in staff have really brought the quality down. It was a 5star food but now one star is too much. So sad

Great food, although I always carry-out or have it delivered. Their lunch specials are reasonably priced, tasty and HUGE!
