Hotel Ovolo Central | Best places to stay in Hong Kong

"If you want to be in the thick of Hong Kong’s after-dark action, this boutique hotel in Central is the one for you. Tucked in a skinny skyscraper up and around the corner from the Lan Kwai Fong party zone, you can easily roll from your room to the clubs and back again. Rooms are slick and unfussy, with bold modern art prints and statement wallpaper in the common areas. Vegetarians and vegans will love the all-veggie Veda restaurant, while the 24-hour gym, laundrette and just two rooms per floor makes it feel like you’ve got your very own city centre crash pad. Despite the high-octane location, it’s surprisingly quiet and peaceful. " - Lee Cobaj

We stayed here for three days and two nights. While the hotel is technically in Central, the location isn’t as convenient as it sounds. To get to Queen’s Road, the malls, and most restaurants, you need to walk about 15–20 minutes downhill. Going down is fine, but the uphill climb back to the hotel is exhausting, especially after a full day out.||The hotel itself looks chic with an art-deco boutique style, but the experience didn’t match the design. The elevator situation was terrible, during our stay only one was working, and it serves over 20 floors. It’s small, shaky, and felt unsafe. The layout is also awkward, with reception separated from the room elevators by another entrance, which makes it confusing and inconvenient.||The rooms are nicely decorated but very small for the price. The bed was comfortable, but the bathroom design wasn’t well thought out. The glass bathroom door is right beside the bed, so light from the bathroom spills into the room, making it impossible to keep it dark for sleeping.||Breakfast is served at the hotel’s vegan restaurant. Food was fine, but the restaurant only serves breakfast and closes at 4 pm. There’s no option for dinner, which makes it less convenient if you were hoping to eat at the hotel.||Overall, the vibe is chic, but between the uphill walk, tiny rooms, awkward layout, and unreliable elevators, it’s not worth the price. I wouldn’t stay here again.

We decided to stay at Ovolo Central at the end of our cruise and loved our stay. The location was walkable to many great food and drink places in the Central area. The staff were friendly and helpful during our stay, and we appreciated their attention to ensure our stay was enjoyable. Thank you to Carlton, Pim and the delightful restaurant staff for making our stay memorable. We loved the vegetarian Indian food, breakfast offerings and the happy hour drinks. We walked from the ferry terminal to the hotel but would recommend taking a taxi/uber as Google maps doesn’t account for the many steps and uphill streets on the way to the hotel.

The service from the moment we arrived was Devine! They let us check in early and made us feel welcome. The room itself was great. We Litterally only used our room to shower and sleep. The room was super comfy and clean, the bathroom was a good size. Such a great stay. The lady on the front desk (forgot her name but I remember she was from Thailand) was always a delight and all the staff were great.

Photos are outdated, our room was very rundown with chipped and warm fittings and furniture. Karaoke or club nearby blaring music until 4am woke us every night. Someone started bathroom renovations of drilling tiles at 11pm. We called to complain and were told it should stop by 1am… The wooden floor by the bathroom had a lot of water damage and the mattress was VERY thin and hard. Pillows so soft, your head rests on the mattress when you lay down. However, rooms are quite spacious and the study nook is helpful if you have to work. There’s 2 rooms per floor. I think the other half of the building is residential. I don’t think I would stay there again.

We loved our stay at Ovolo Central, largely because of the kindness and friendliness of the staff. They were unfailingly helpful and considerate. The hotel is well located, quiet and decorated with some zany touches. We ate at fhe Veda Restaurant at the hotel- great coffee and delicious vegetarian meals.

We spent a couple of nights at the Ovolo Central, which is now part of the Hilton family of hotels. It is a tall, skinny building, with only 2 rooms per floor. The rooms are a decent size, but nothing huge. The bathroom is very well appointed, and marble/granite is everywhere. The shower is nice and large. I love the rainfall head built in from the ceiling. The towels are just OK. There is a great mini bar / coffee setup area.||There were 2 drawbacks to the room. The first is a slightly musty smell. I did notice what looked like mold on the shower wall behind the floating seat there. It is a hard to clean area. My wife reacts to mold as she is allergic, and thankfully, she had no reaction. The second issue is that this area seems to have a number of nightclubs, and even though we were on the 10th floor, I could hear a faint bass beat until 5 AM when it stopped. I am a light sleeper. It did not affect my wife.||The front desk staff are super nice, especially the afternoon fellow. He provided excellent suggestions and directions.

We had a wonderful stay at the Ovolo last week. We bought the Luxury Escape package which included breakfast and dinner. Service was excellent, food was great. I don't normally eat Indian food, especially when it's vegetarian, but the Indian dinner we had was divine and highly recommended. Try and ask for a higher floor as we were on level 6 and we could (just) hear the music from the bars in LKF. The free washer and dryer was very useful. Location is great, however, walking there from Central MTR can be a nightmare. I'd recommend asking the hotel for clear directions so you don't end up dragging your luggage up the steep cobbled streets.

I chose the Ovolo Central for my Sotheby's Institute of Art 5-day short course. The Ovolo Central is very close to the galleries but at a rather quiet location.Upon arrival, Duty Manager Carlton greeted me with big bright smile which ease my tiredness of the travel. The room is of Modern Elegance design and so well-planned with all you need. The housekeeping did a great job to make the room comfortable. The Mini bar got great selection of snacks and beverages to accommodate your hunger or thirst.I really enjoy my stay with the Ovolo Central.I really enjoy my

Yelp
Great location steps to Lan Kwai Fung bars and Soho restaurants and shopping! Rooms are large and stocked with free minibar drinks daily, and a welcome loot bag with a few snacks. Can get loud, especially on Saturday nights. Stayed during their renovation and was disappointed some of their common space was unavailable, but they did offer free day passes to nearby Pure Fitness to compensate for their gym being shut down (normally USD$40 day pass cost) -- just make sure to ask the front desk. 24 hour doorman watching the elevator. Overall pricey but reasonable.

Yelp
was in Hong Kong for a 4-night stay here at the Ovolo Central and was thoroughly satisfied with my time here. location worked out great for us - we were close to a lot of great restaurants and bars and then we were able to walk off all those calories afterwards with all the hills and stairs in the Central area haha. the hotel itself is also pretty great. loved the modern decor and look of the place. the only awkward part is that the check-in area is on the 1st floor but you enter the hotel on ground level so you need to take an elevator trip up one level. no real biggie though. also loved the 24-hour security - there was always someone manning the door and at night, you would need to your room key just to enter the hotel area in addition you need your key to use the elevator to get up to your room. the staff here was so great during our stay. i had a lot of requests to have documents printed and they were more than willing to oblige and even offered to bring up the papers to our room. i had also noted that i was there for an anniversary so on our first night, they sent up a bottle of wine for us - really unexpected but thoughtful. no issues with housekeeping either. our room was always cleaned by the time we returned to our room each day. also really cool that there are only 2 rooms on each floor. we were on the 21st floor and had no issues with our neighbor and street noise was minimal. i did notice some construction noise happening during the daytime but it did not interfere with sleeping at all. best part about the Ovolo is all the included amenities though! the room rate was pretty expensive ($270/night USD), but at least i felt like they tried to make up for the room rate with everything else haha. free breakfast is next door in the attached cafe. really liked that you could order any kind of coffee drink like a latte or mocha. they had a buffet of pastries and finger foods plus an option to order hot food. the food wasnt amazing or anything like that but it was great to have something in my stomach before a long day of sightseeing. also so much freebies in our room itself! free minibar 2 beers plus a few airplane sized liquor bottles along with bottled water, juice, and soda. a "loot bag" upon arrival with snacks. a "late night snack bag" was offered if you came back to the hotel later at night that came with cup o'noodles (you have a hot water maker in the room), bottled water, alka seltzer, and tylenol - super cute and thoughtful of them for hangovers haha. plus they had complimentary snacks and drinks along with alcohol during happy hour in the lobby area. they replenished our bathroom toiletries daily, had comfy robes and slippers, and free wi-fi worked great! oh and not to mention a Nespresso machine in the room too haha. all of these amenities made me feel a lot better about the price haha.

Yelp
Super helpful staff, free booze (whaaa?) and snacks. Great location, great rates. Apple TV, elegant rooms. Everything except an entryway with a big atrium, which who really needs that?
