San Francisco Bay Area’s Recent Restaurant Closures | Eater SF

"After 60 years, Brennan’s Restaurant is closing on September 15; the owner cited a looming 25 percent rent increase, climate change, and a declining party atmosphere at the bar as reasons." - Janelle Bitker

This is a Memphis classic that pays homage to New Orleans cuisine. I brought my New Orleans friend to a group dinner and he had “thoughts” about the authenticity of the dishes. My gumbo was ok, but he said the consistency was not quite right. The server seemed to be putting on an amusing show with snippy quips. But overall, it was a good experience and a little taste of New Orleans.

Our first visit was impressive & a great experience. Beautiful restaurant, decor, light fixtures are amazing, staff is great. Ron was our server & he was impeccable. Friendly, professional & we appreciated his recommendations. Our drinks were amazing - Old Fashion & Strawberry Pineapple & Coconut Cream mocktail- soooo good!!! We had the fried calamari to start. Lightly battered, crispy & well seasoned. I had the Cajun fish & chips/I opted for hand cut kettle chips, light batter & moist fish & crispy chips. My bf had the classic crawfish etouffee with rice / it wad unbelievable. So much flavour. And the soup of the day: roasted red pepper. Really tasty. To end our experience...we had The beignets and they were warm & yummy.

Google
Greeted warmly when we came in. Asked if we had a reservation, which I did because I was told that they do get busy for brunch, but it wasn't busy at all. Service was great. Everyone was happy and smiling. The food was the issue. Everything was room temperature which means it was not freshly made. The brisket was not good at all. Tasted like boiled meat without any seasoning. The steak had bell peppers and onions in it but still lacked any seasoning. The pork loin was decent but again, room temperature. The deviled eggs were not good. All the chicken was room temperature. The cinnamon rolls were hard like they were old. The sausage looked old. The bacon was ok but also seemed old. All the cookies looked like they were purchased from Sam's. The macaroni was room temperature. The red beans and rice were good and warmer than everything else. This place is extremely overrated. $107 for two people and we didn't even eat/enjoy $10 worth of food. I considered coming back and trying lunch but it's just not worth it. If they don't care enough to serve hot food for brunch, they can't care too much about any of their food. I'm not happy about this and wouldn't come back.

Google
Love this place & the ambience. Lunch cost is about average in the Memphis location for lunch. The food & presentation is always great. Recently informed there will be live music on Wednesday nights - looking forward to the experience. I’ve also had their Sunday brunch buffet & omg! It was worth $50 bc there were so many options from standard breakfast, to shrimp / grits/ seafood such as shrimp/ raw oysters & they even have dessert like crème brûlée, cookies etc. Yummmmm. They also had live jazz music during Sunday brunch & I fell in love w/ this place. Definitely worth dining.

We were in town for an anniversary celebration at Owen Brennan’s and had an absolutely wonderful experience from start to finish. Our server, Michael, deserves all the praise in the world. We came in with multiple food allergies and dietary restrictions, and he handled everything with the type of care and professionalism you’d expect from a five-star restaurant. Michael took the time to personally check with the kitchen, explained exactly what they could and could not do, and made sure every dish was safe for us. The kitchen was able to accommodate all of our restrictions, and the food was not only safe but also delicious. What really set Michael apart was his kindness. He was incredibly sweet to our little girls and even brought them a fidget toy to keep them entertained during the meal. That small gesture meant so much and made the evening feel truly special. Between the amazing food, the warm atmosphere, and Michael’s outstanding service, Owen Brennan’s made rhe anniversary dinner unforgettable. We will stop in again next time we’re in the Memphis area!

I have eaten at Owen Breannan’s before at least twice both times for brunch and I have had good experiences. This time I visited with a party of 5 on a Saturday. We were some of the first customers in the door and they had a scheduled event. Our server was nice but it took him a long time to come back to our table between taking our drink and app order. Which was not really a big deal because I just knew that my food would be fantastic but that was not the case. I started off with the crab cake app. Which was $27. It was a single cake which is ok I guess for the type of establishment it is. The problem was that the cake was dry and had way too much lemon zest and lemon juice in it. I also thought that it would be enough to share with the table so by the time we all tried it, it was gone so I didn’t complain much but I did tell the waiter. After that ordered the red fish with the étouffée. My fish was cooked too long and it was dry and my rice was uncooked. I didn’t address these issues with my waiter because I barely saw him and by then I was ready to go. The only thing that I enjoyed was my mimosa. I wasn’t going to write a review but a $100 is a lot spend on food I didn’t enjoy.

Google
So I have had the brunch before, which is fabulous. My son picked this restaurant for his birthday dinner. He wanted oysters, calamari, and a steak. The appetizers were delicious and good servings for the price. We ordered the blackberry BBQ pork chop, Riley, stuffed shrimp, and seafood newburg. Their chef must me world class. Everything was delicious. The drinks were flowing, and the restaurant was beautiful. The staff was friendly and very attentive. It was the perfect place for the birthday dinner.

I love love love Owen Brennan. I didn't get any pictures of the food but I have to give props when they're due. For it to be Sunday, breakfast on Mother's Day, I can't believe how perfect it went. My mother stated the night before that she didn't want to deal with the Mother's Day crowd, and she would rather be home. But I told her Owen Brennan is different. We won't have those problems. We had a few hiccups in the beginning that weren't an issue at all because both managers got to work and made sure we got to our table quickly. We were okay with the wait anyway because the bar didn't open until 10 am 🥴. Patience is a vurue. The fact that it's a buffet style breakfast and there was no, I mean no problem at all to get our food and enjoy everything. This place is a 10 out of 10. The saxophone musician was a special touch as well. It was truly a beautiful Mother's Day. Thank you.❤️

Yelp
3.5 stars actually. Visiting from out of town and went here with co workers. Just average food in general. The house bread was just plain average bread at best. Not a good start! The "smoked" old fashion was not smoked! Simply used a "smoked" bourbon. But the Whiskey Sour was good. Serious twist on a Whiskey Sour. Keep an open mind and try one. Our appetizers took a long time to arrive and the place was empty. The crawfish beignets were unique and delicious w the creole crawfish sauce. The Spinach dip was a complete disappointment since they used bread chips from the same loafs they gave us, except they were dry, crumbly and tasteless. Not good! The Scallops were good but the risotto that came with it was over salty!!! Un edible! Redfish was good but not over the top. The Jambalaya was more chicken than anything else. Had one piece of crawfish that was noticed. But good flavor. The dessert beignets were basically powdered sugar covered doughnuts. Tasted good but not beignets. The bread pudding was very good as long as the Rum Sauce was not on the bite. The sauce was basically straight rum. Soooo strong. I love Myers Rum hence why I ordered the bread pudding but damn it was strong. The alcohol was NOT cooked out. If from out of town, I do not recommend this place and would steer you toward the many hole in the wall BBQ and fried chicken places around Memphis!!

Yelp
Owen Brennan's have been a staple in the Memphis restaurant scene. I don't know how long they have been in the area but I know it's been over 15 years. Do they have the best gumbo in the city??? No. But is really good and satisfying. But I'm biased. Once you had real gumbo at NOLA, nothing can compare. The other items are really good on the menu too. The shrimp and grits, the green tomatoes, the fish Peres, the grouper are fabulous dishes. One thing that I did not like, it was the service. We were waiter by 3 different people. Don't know if this is the norm for them, but it did not feel like a personal experience. With each waiter introducing themselves and trying to remember their names. It felt off!! The place is the same as it was when I came 15 years ago. It hasn't change. I do wish they could lighten up the place though. It just feels dark and gloomy. I will say they had a nice creole music band. That was super nice!! Overall, I do recommend this to locals and travelers looking to eat a good home cook meal.

Yelp
By far the best oyster Rockefeller I've had in a way. This restaurant is one of my favorites in the city. They have an amazing Sunday brunch but recently I came for dinner and ordered the oysters and the pasta jambalaya. Both are very flavorful options. Our waiter was very kind and offered great service as well as humor throughout our time. We ended with the crème brûlée which is also a winner. Highly recommend this restaurant for a business dinner, outing with friends or a great option Sundays after church!

Yelp
We went to the brunch and oh my goodness! It was PHENOMENAL! Fresh oysters, omelette station, fried catfish, salad bar, a whole dessert table, croissants. Literally anything you could imagine was on this brunch buffet. I absolutely LOVED it. If I could give more than 5 stars I would! The staff was phenomenal and so attentive.

Yelp
Took my family there when I visited Memphis from California and the service was horrible. We went at opening and as we were seated the man threw our napkins and saucers on the table. Not to mention we are an all African American family. My mom said she will not even drink the water. It was 7 of us and I was willing to spend good money too. This was also a celebration for my mom's belated Mother's Day present.

Yelp
Great ambiance and food, but when went for a business dinner with 15 guests, their tea machine was down and they were out of Basil Hayden whiskey, so could be an issue with ordering. Food was spectacular and the service is amazing. The bar is a great place to wait and take in the atmosphere while you wait too. My favorite is the stuffed shrimp. It's broiled shrimp with a crab filling that like eating a crab cake served with the best grilled vegetables and hollandaise. The bananas foster is a must.

Yelp
We come here once a week and the service is amazing! For some reason they changed the bread. It's terrible! It could float the entire length of the Mississsippi and not get soggy. Come on folks! If it's not broke don't fix it!
google avatar

Yelp
Haven't been here in years. Service was okay. It wasn't crowded when I went but it was kinda slow. The food was okay. not be busy enough for my calamari to come out luke warm. Wasn't a fan. The steak was good I order medium well but it came out well. I already waited a minute for the food to come out so I didn't say anything but the food was still good. I want to give their brunch a try. I might come back I might not.

Yelp
Horrible customer service. Tried to eat here and after the server asked us if we wanted to be seated inside or outside, for menus, she suddenly decided she couldn't seat is because my friend and I were wearing crop tops. She said it was dress code policy which was not posted anywhere. She had already seen us when and grabbed menus when she decided she couldn't seat us. It was 5 pm and the restaurant was empty. Wtf?!

Yelp
I assume this restaurant is related to the Brennan's restaurants in New Orleans. The atmosphere reminded me of those restaurants with the decor and friendly staff. Our server was INCREDIBLE. The food was excellent! We started with an Angel's Envy Old Fashioned and a Watermelon Blueberry lemonade with Tito's Vodka. Then we ordered the fried green tomatoes, which came dressed with arugula, candied bacon, and blistered cherry tomatoes. Then we ordered the Redfish (of course if you know any Brennan's restaurant) and the Pasta Jambalaya. We were so full we took our Key Lime Pie to go! Thanks to our server Jason for being so friendly and helpful. Even the French bread and butter were wonderful!

Irene M.

Yelp
First of all, the food was awesome but the service was unacceptable. I made reservations for 5, the table was set up and ready to go when we arrived at 11:30. We were all good until we were told by Jason the bartender, that we did not have a server for our table due to someone not showing up for work, but he said he would take care of us. Why they would set a group of 5 with a reservation at a table with the bartender as the server is beyond me. Jason tried hard to take care of our table but he was simply too busy with being the bartender, the service issue was not Jason's fault. We had to grab someone to get bread, refills, dessert, and our ticket. We were there for lunch in celebration of Administrative Day and it took over 2 hours to be served our lunch. I believe this issue was due to poor preparation by management in situations such as this one.

Yelp
Clean, great ambiance, music, servers and service that makes you feel welcoming! Everything was great and tasty. You would think this place is VERY upscale being that its located inside Oak Hall, but come nicely dressed and you'll fit right in. The building is aged, but clean. Restrooms could use an upgrade but clean. Well know for brunch, lunch, or dinner. You choose!

Yelp
Brunch Review: This restaurant has a decades long reputation for its Sunday Brunch. This is well deserved and continues to stand out based on my last visit. Service here is always impeccable, even for a brunch where the servers are there for drinks. The brunch itself is expansive in its variety, but not giant and cumbersome. I personally dive right in to the items like smoked salmon and fresh boiled shrimp as well as the salads and fruits. The salmon was perfection and warranted a few return trips. I did not visit any of the traditional breakfast items although many in our party did, and raved about the amazing cooked to order omelets and the quality and variety of sweet carbos like waffles and pancakes and such. I instead focus on the Cajun offerings like the red beans and rice, etouffee and jambalaya. All were perfect. Several soups, several meat dishes, extensive salad, extensive pastries all fill all needs. For drinks at our table the mimosas were very popular, along with the bloody marys. Is the adult brunch expensive for a brunch? YES very much so, about as expensive as a brunch can be. But, sometimes in life you just have to invest in something wonderful for yourself, and this is a good choice for that.

Yelp
3 stars, because of service carrying the subpar food. Kind of a shame, but chicken pasta was tasty, but the quality of the chicken was completely subpar. My customer had catfish, and kept spotting various pieces into a napkin. Reasonable prices, and reasonable service. Could be so much better, with quality ingredients.

Yelp
Me and my wife went and had our anniversary dinner here last night, and it was amazing. The food was amazing, we had the spinach dip for an appetizer and we both had a ribeye with mashed potatoes and broccoli. The spinach dip was creamy and had the most amazing flavor, it went perfect with the toast they serve it with. The ribeyes had this delicious butter on top of them that melted over the whole steak and really brought everything together. The ribeye was cooked and seasoned perfectly, one of the best I have had in town. The mashed potatoes were smooth and buttery, the broccoli was also cooked very well. Absolutely no complaints with the service at all, our server was very knowledgeable. But above all else the vibe of the restaurant was amazing, very low key, not a lot of riffraff. Exactly what you would expect from a restaurant of this caliber. I will be going back again very soon!

Yelp
I will say food wise the chefs who cook the food. They did a great job making the food. The bartender made nice drinks and didn't have much issue. However, the supervisor/ manager he had racial bias towards me. He had asked the customers from both my left and right, if they enjoying themselves, is the food good. He even got the customers from my left another drink. The minute he seen me, he looked at me with disgust and ignored me. That made me didn't want to stay and took my dinner to go. I wouldn't recommend if you are an African-American to eat inside.

Coasy H.

Yelp
Owen Brennan has so many brunch options like probably over 40 items on the buffet plus an omelette station. The only fresh and hot food is clearly a fresh omelette. Everything else on the buffet appeared to have been sitting for too long and was not hot and fresh. Fish seasoned but Luke warm at best and not crispy. Flavor was there but again temperature and quality were lacking. We were sat at a table upstairs behind a wall that was super dim at 11am. Our service was mediocre, the guy running the omelette station had great customer service to everyone who passed by. $95 for 2 brunch buffets I expected hot food smh. I was grateful to have a gift card I won because I wouldn't have been able to pay my money. A change needs to happen ASAP

Yelp
This has been my local favorite for Crawfish Etouffe, but tonight I was a bit disappointed. The crawfish were small, over-cooked, and the dish lacked richness and spiciness. Fortunately, everything else (Fried Oysters, Brussel Sprouts, Caesar Salad, Cajun Blood Mary) were pretty good.

Aaron G.

Yelp
Sunday Brunch is not to be missed. The selection is immense and the quality is unmatched my 50yrs. The specialty stations, Shorty's omelets, and the pasta are the very best, and the prime rib is solid. Other offerings are many and varied, and kept hot and fresh, or cold and fresh for the salads. The live jazz is just the icing on the cake, and is excellent. Service has always been good at worst, and impeccable at best. 10 out of 10 recommend, meaning I've enjoyed the brunch at least 10 times over the past 2yrs, and have loved it EVERY TIME.
google avatar

Krystal N.

Yelp
I really enjoyed my experience at Owen Brennan's brunch buffet. Everything was clean, food remained stocked (mostly), and for the variety and quality of food, it was definitely worth the price. What I enjoyed: Prime rib Pork tenderloin Roast Bacon Eggs Sausage Biscuits and gravy French toast All the veggies (mashed potatoes, green beans, collard greens, etc) Grits Fried fish What I would avoid: Seafood (specifically the shrimp and salmon) Oysters (the ones I tried had been out for a while, they did restock them but I didn't take my chances) Chicken salad Deviled eggs Cinnamon rolls

Porcha B.

Yelp
My experience at Owen Brennan's was decent. I did love the atmosphere but the food was lack luster. I would visit again just to see if I can give them 4-5 stars.
google avatar

Barry E.

Yelp
I love Owen Brennan's! The food is consistently delicious and the service is always impeccable.

Heidi G.

Yelp
I love the wedge salad with shrimp but they changed the portions. The amount of shrimp that I received was lacking. Three shrimp hardly is enough and the cost was high for what was received. This used to be my go to but after the change to their portions I'll have to rethink my order.
google avatar

Chris M.

Yelp
This place is horrible and has been for years. I remember the brunch being ok back in the day but not willing to chance it since the food is really bad normally. Had lunch here with four of us last time and everyone's food was way below average. Bad hotel food is the best way I can describe it.

Maggie N.

Yelp
Sweet potato fries to die for! The atmosphere is unlike any other in the area. Not too expensive either!

Linda F.

Yelp
This is a review of a dinner that never happened. We were considering hosting a private event in one of the spaces at Owen Brennan's, but had to cancel our plans immediately after booking. Jordyn and staff could not have been more professional or understanding about the situation. We enjoyed our interactions with the folks at Owen Brennan's and wouldn't hesitate to recommend this super-accommodating establishment to our Memphis-bound friends and family.

Yelp
Visiting from Virginia Beach, and enjoyed eating Easter Brunch here. Nice place! Food was good. Service was good. Definitely Recommend!

Laura A.

Yelp
I don't know what has happened at this restaurant, but we had terrible service and mediocre food. We were a party of 4 on a Saturday afternoon at 12:30. We were one of maybe 8 tables in this huge restaurant. There were multiple servers standing around. We had difficulty getting a server to our table but when we did, we ordered. During that wait period, another couple sat down next to us and were immediately waited on. Once we ordered, we did not get our main course until 1:30, an hour later. This is after I went twice to ask where our food was and to talk to the manager. Meanwhile, the table next to us was served right away and they paid and left before we even had our main course served to us. The shrimp and grits were runny and only had 4 shrimp in the dish. It was basically not enjoyable at all. I thought for sure the manager would come to apologize and maybe comp one of the mains. But nothing. No acknowledgement of the poor service. By the time we left, we were about the only people in the restaurant so no excuse for the lack of attention. Having been there in the past for the Sunday buffet, I was totally shocked by the lack of good food and service. Go elsewhere.

Hafez R.

Yelp
Very bad food and very poor service! I was visiting memphis and went to this place and what a disappointment.

Paula S.

Yelp
Good food and service. Had small error with bill but was corrected. Nice patio and atmosphere--will go again

Yelp
Reasons to go: Owen Brennan's brings the New Orleans flair to Memphis. I love their crawfish étouffée and red fish . The cocktails are also good . They also offer patio dining . Great location.. Reasons that give me pause : I prefer dining during lunch or dinner . The Sunday brunch buffet doesn't allow you to order from the regular menu and the lines are long for waffles.

Yelp
My husband selected this restaurant after the first one was a failure. We ordered the fried crawfish appetizer, and I ordered a cup of gumbo to start. They delivered the freshest French bread loaf I've ever had in a restaurant. When the crawfish arrived, we ate every piece and crumb. It was fried perfectly! So delicious! Between scarfing down the crawfish, I ate my gumbo. It was delicious too. The crawfish and sausage was plentiful as was the okra which is not my favorite on any day. For my entree, I chose the crawfish etoufee and my husband had the jambalaya. The etoufee was a little creamier than I'd prefer and my husband's jambalaya was delicious. Our server, Jordyn, was excellent. So friendly and on the ball. The bartender was very nice too. What a great staff! It's been a long time since we've been to a restaurant with staff that love their job and are genuinely friendly and attentive to their patrons. Lastly, the lady's room was so clean and had a great scent. It's been a long time since I've visited a public restroom that was thoroughly clean (actually they're all filthy and disgusting) and smelled great to boot! We'll definitely be back to dine.

Yelp
Went to Brunch over the past weekend and was expecting some amazing food. To our disappoinment, almost everything that was ment to be served hot failed. Plus, for $50/person one would expect one of the Best Brunches here in Memphis. Personal option, price should of included a beerage, but doesn't include any type of drinks and I mean nothing.:(
google avatar

Valencia T.

Yelp
Absolutely fantastic Brunch! I'd say it's the best Brunch I've had here in Memphis. You are missing out if you don't try it! A bit expensive, but well worth it.

Yelp
It's a beautiful establishment with the best brunch is town, seriously! It has always been my go-to place for a touch of Nawlins, for sure. From Creole specialties such as Pasta Jambalaya, Crayfish Etouffee', Red Fish Perez, Catfish Beaudreaux and of course of famous Eggs Hussarde (an original of Brennan's of New Orleans) and Eggs Benedict to the Angus beef and great seafood, this is some good New Orleans eating in Memphis. But when it comes to something that MUST be mentioned it is their famous Bananas foster, OMG I am a nut for good bananas foster and there's is really, really, really, really good! Special holiday brunches are more than just brunch it's an event! Three-man Band, complimentary beignets and French market coffee, prime rib carving station, oyster bar, terrific array of hot and cold food, omelette station with assorted seafood, meats and vegetables, made-to-order by a real showman, tossing plates and skillets, in the air, oh yeah it's special. For everyday they have a nice wine list, good gumbo and one of my favorites the crawfish salad that's chock full of those mudbugs :-) Kudos to owner Jim Baker, who had opened Owen Brennan's in 1990 under a partnership of investors. Chef and TV personality Burt Wolf and Baker and the other investors had approached the Brennan's Restaurant family in 1989 and obtained a license to open a New Orleans-style restaurant in Memphis. Bottom line: Outstanding food, great décor and our service has always been excellent. I recommend this place for locals and for those traveling to Memphis. You will not be disappointed! Nuff said Hours: Monday - Thursday: 11:00 am - 9:00 pm Friday: 11:00 am - 10:00 pm Saturday: 10:00 am - 10:00 pm Brunch Hours: Saturday Al a Carte Brunch: 9:00 am - 4:00 pm Seating Sunday Brunch: 9:00 am - 2:30 pm

Yelp
Well, the ambiance is nice and you definitely get that bayou flair... but the food was just a tad bit too salty for me. The crab cakes in the appetizer section were plenty good. But the Creole risotto was very salty. I ordered the beignets and they were nice and hot which was great, but they were very gooey on the inside. They offered to make kore but I declined since I was there on my lunch break. So overall the visit for my lunch break was bittersweet. Other than the food being salty and my doughy dessert I would say the ambience and the service was a win.
google avatar

Bridgett J.

Yelp
Why is it that the last two times I've dined there, the butter for the bread was not just softened, but liquified? The most recent health score shows that there are a few things that need to be corrected in the kitchen. And on the off-chance that someone from the restaurant actually reads this, shame on you for not having a REAL muffaletta! Using the bread you serve on the table may be more cost effective, but you are supposed to exemplify NOLA cuisine, and your version of the beloved muffaletta is a disgrace. Elwoods makes a more authentic version and he's from TEXAS.

Gary E.

Yelp
Nice place to gather for a special meal. Been coming for a number of years and it seems to be losing some of its appeal...still good but not great. Had large party that was served quickly and got everything right on the orders.

Yelp
We met here yesterday for the monthly Black Social Work Meet-up. Our chapter president stated how difficult it remains to secure rooms due to COVID restrictions but was pleased with the ease of securing this location. We had ample room and were able to preselect our entrees in advance. Each order included complimentary bread and butter, mom alcoholic beverages, a salad of your choice, and a dessert option. I started with a VIP (half tea/half lemonade) and a lemon drop martini. Let me tell you, the bartender was on point of the martinis that day. Everyone who ordered a martini version was so pleased. The house salad with champagne vinaigrette was so good. Everyone was pleased with the flavor. For my meal, I had previously chosen the voodoo chicken pasta. The serving was a little smaller than I assumed it would be; however, it was slightly filling, especially once I paired it with the bread. Now, the bread pudding topped with sliced strawberries was sooo good. A little sweeter than I prefer but oh so delicious. We had the most attentive hostess, and the outing was magnificent.

Yelp
New Orleans cuisines' get my attention really quick. The fried crawfish, bread, and fried green tomatoes were a home run. So good! I've never had fried green tomatoes presented this way. The stuffed chicken was dry and the gravy wasn't good. It was presented beautifully; It just didn't have the taste I was hoping for. The best entree was the pork chop. It was flavorful and juicy.

Yelp
I'm not a frequent visitor of Owen Brennan's, but each experience is better and better. I'm still taking precautions due to COVID-19 so I placed a takeout order over the phone instead of dining in. The hostess was very patient, clear with the wait time, and how/where to pay. When I got to the restaurant I immediately saw the safety precautions in place. I did not have to wait an exceptionally long time to pay or receive my order. I was in and out. I ordered the chicken voodoo pasta for myself and the blackened chicken tenders with fries for my dad. The food was fresh and hot. The picture really doesn't do the pasta justice. Plus, restaurants who use the reusable take out containers always get extra brownie points. I only ate half last night so I'm looking forward to my lunch

Yelp
The food choices and the service we experienced was not worth the price we paid for. It was very different from when I went the first time!

Yelp
We came here to eat as a family before we all went back home and to celebrate a birthday. We all picked a few different items and everything was amazing! Service was good

Yelp
Came in to celebrate my 39th birthday and I was so impressed. I thought we had to have reservations but was was told it wasn't needed. We went on a Monday evening so if you're looking for weekend dining I would call to confirm if a reservation is needed. There wasn't a huge crowd which was nice because I wanted something more quiet. There's various options when it comes down to the food menu so be sure you look at everything! I was so shocked at the choices. Price was reasonable depending on your choice. I would highly recommend the Smoked Gouda Mac & Cheese with alligator sausage! Omg so good! I highly recommend this restaurant not only because of the great food but because of the customer service.

Yelp
Owen Brennan's is among my favorite restaurants in all USA. Decent okra gumbo. Crawfish Étouffée is as good as most in New Orleans. No Turbo Dog, but other Arbita brews. I've been coming here 20 years and always good service and good food. Creme brûlée excellent, Bread pudding to die for, Commander's Palace is no better.

Yelp
So, I stopped in for a cocktail during happy hour, and decided on a quick nosh. So, Oysters Bienville it is! The oysters were HUGE! The topping was absolutely perfect, with all the right flavors. There was still some briney-ness from the oyster and some of the liquor, which kind of played against the topping, but it was nice. The drinks were fine and priced appropriately. The next morning I went for brunch with friends. This place has been voted best brunch in Memphis, and I'm not sure why. While they have shrimp cocktail and oysters on the half shell, that's really where the "perceived value" stops. They keep hot and cold dishes on separate sides of the room, and a fresh made omelette/pancake station in the center of the room. The gentleman manning that station is entertaining! My issue with the dishes offered is that it doesn't seem like anything special! Not only that, there are no signs or nameplates to indicate what is in each hot tray, plate, etc. The guest is left to guess what is what. I will say, I was able to try their French toast, and it was really good. The cocktails at brunch are 12-13 bucks, or 14 for a carafe of mimosas, which is the best value. The service and ambiance was great, which is why I gave this 3 stars. For almost $50 PER PERSON for brunch, which is similar to higher-end Vegas Buffet prices, I would expect a much better spread, and again, nameplates indicating what is being served. I won't rush back for brunch, but I may give it another shot. Without my kids - since they are full priced too.

Yelp
Great Sunday Brunch. A little pricier than other places for Sunday breakfast/brunch but it delivers. All the dishes are excellent and the service is outstanding.

Yelp
Really disappointed. Visiting from out of town and had memories of great meals at Brennan's in New Orleans. Spinach salad was ok except the the nuts that we so salty they were inedible. The red fish was seasoned well but cooked to a crisp. Mixed veggies ok and the fries were average at best Servers were great which kept this a 2 star
