"If you’re looking for authentically Oakland souvenirs, Rachel Konte’s apparel boutique Owl N Wood is the spot. I copped my favorite “heart Oakland” crewneck here that I wear all the time." - ByRyan Walker-Hartshorn

My favourite place to shop for vintage in all of the Bay Area. They have something for everyone’s taste. A great mix of culture, colours and textures. Their very chic and retro vintage meets great handmade craftsmanship great quality garments/fabrics. Lovely collection of essential oils and unique jewellery.

They offer a range of price points and everything is very chic. Great place for gifts or something for yourself. Especially liked the unique jewelry, which was all in brass. Not a huge inventory, buy I kinda wanted to but 50% of it. Appeared to have some vintage mixed in with the new.

Yelp
OwlNWood is a boutique filled with stylish leather handbags, clutches, wallets, jewelry, and several racks of unique designed garments. Browsing through the racks of kitschy tees and scarves made me feel as though I was on a scavenger hunt looking for clandestine treasure. The walls of OwlNWood are smartly decorated with a thought-provoking vintage record collection for patron's to feast their eyes upon, which included albums from Diana Ross, The Mamas and The Papas, and Marvin Gaye. And directly behind the check out counter is a floor to ceiling photo of Jimi Hendrix hanging on the wall. The second floor at OwlNWood contains a variety of gently used wares. The walls are adorned with urban stitched tapestries and another floor to ceiling photo of Joan Jett (I hope I got that right -- please see in the pics I attached.) I noticed several Jadeite bake ware pieces, a Bower bowl, serving trays and vases in olive green and orange, and the most comfy gently used crushed leather high back swivel office chair ever. OwlNWood is quite a find for t hose of you who enjoy consignment shopping like me. I most definitely will return to this store in the future.

Yelp
OwlNWood is super cool. I am new to Oakland and the Bay Area (from Brooklyn), so it was so great to feel welcome and special, considering I'm a "nobody"! The earthy, local, non-corporate feel of the store is right up my alley, (love the iPad checkout, pay anywhere in the shop, wireless!). Immediately I knew that I MUST bring my girlfriend, a local vintage wine and clothing buyer. On my first visit to the store (been back several times now), I met Rachel, (pronounced Raah-kel). She is the owner and designer who put together such an array of local, artist/design collaborations, men's apparel, local art and jewelry, not to mention carefully selected accessories and vintage clothing. International brands are top quality here. I walked out with not just 1, but 2, pairs of SuperRetroFuture sunglasses (made in Italy!), for me and my special lady. ONW has a selection of SRF eye-wear that is unparalleled ANYWHERE! Trust me, I have searched far and wide, not even NYC's own Steven Alan can compete with the hand selected styles at ONW. That said, I fully support local artists and brands as a consumer and upcoming local jeweler myself! I couldn't resist to purchase a comfortable and elegant athletic sweatshirt from "Below The Surface" AKA BTS, a Bay Area based upscale urban apparel brand. Rachel was gracious enough to introduce me to her BTS vendor rep, who was extra enthusiastic about my purchase from his line. To top it all off, Rachel and her BTS vendor both invited me to an upcoming event hosted by OakStreetStyle fashion blog introducing OwlNWood 1st Look-book of 2013! OMG. The event was hella fun (yes, HELLA) and everyone working for ONW made me feel that much more at home. My significant other and personal stylist, Haley D Alexander, was so stoked about a pair of limited SuperRetroFuture glasses she saw. Naturally I had to buy them from Christian, ONW's swanky staffer and her iPad "Square" register, no paper wasted, just an elegant email receipt! Christian was so discreet in the checkout process, as per my request; Haley D didn't even see me purchase her surprise spectacles! I really walked out feeling like a "somebody". THX Owl N Wood, Rachel, Christian and Cam, for making me feel at home in Oakland :)

Yelp
I finally reached the business owner via Instagram. They were apologetic about the situation, and I was able to pick up my tee the following Saturday. The in-store service was just as I remembered - warm and helpful. And the shirt is very high quality! Would 100% shop here again, but I'd probably still opt to buy in the store rather than online for pickup.

Yelp
At first glance of this block on Grand and you immediately notice Owl N Wood. The exterior speaks volume to the taste level and attention to detail that the boutique further displays once you go inside. Rachel the owner was a design director at levis which is why the store has a refined vintage atmosphere with modern touches. The products she has curated are all high quality and locally made. The assortment is not random all of the pieces help to tell the story of OwlNWood. Last night I met Mahogany who works at OnW. She was very knowledgable and attentive without being pushy. I loved the experience and would recommend a visit to OwlNWood so you can experience yourself!

Yelp
Had an issue with a lost online order, and while it took some time, my issue was resolved. I appreciate the commitment to me recieving my order, no matter the time it took.

Yelp
Love this place. My go-to sock spot! Love dropping by here when I'm in the neighborhood. The owner, Raquel is always warm and excited to show me the new items and brands they are carrying. OwlNWood is a great place to buy gifts and get styled out (Oakland style). Come here!

Yelp
My neighbors growing up had a huge horse barn and a tack shop, which smelled like wood, leather and saddle soap. The first time I went to OwlNWood, I smelled that same smell and it transported me back in time. If you like to shop locally, for clothes and doodads, this is a place to start. The owner is really sweet. It's a small place, so there is limited selection.

Yelp
What a great gem in Oakland! I finally went today (after noticing the store several times while I go to lunch around there) and was not disappointed. First off, the space was really hip! Very clean and organized and the aesthetic was really cool. I definitely appreciate the look! The Owner, Rachel, was there and she was really sweet and friendly....very easy to talk to. We chatted while I was perusing her merchandise. She was very laid back, too! I don't like it when I am trying to shop and people are staring at me or being pushy. All in all a wonderful shopping and relaxing experience. And I really found some neat items and can't wait to wear them all. That said, I definitely will be coming back. Thanks, OwlNWood, for a sweet experience today! Wish you more and continued success....

Yelp
This place is super cute and the owner couldn't be more genuine! Went for a rad 1st Friday party at the shop and she made time to introduce herself. I ended up buying some awesome tribal-printed neon socks and some Super Retro Future sunglasses I'd been wanting foreeever. Not only am I happy to support a local business, but they carry brands I can normally only find on the web! Spot is tastefully curated and great for gifts.

Yelp
owner didn't acknowledge me coming in, indifferent customer service - really did not care for my experience at his store. it felt like a grocery store but pretentious. merch is fine.

Yelp
First of all, I loved the merchandise and ended up purchasing a clutch the day I experienced this terrible customer service. And I'll continue to shop at this store as long as someone else is working when I shop. However... I would give this store 5 stars but unfortunately the person who helped me was rude and unwelcoming and would rather look at what was on her iPad than be warm for the 5 minutes customers were in the store with her. Quite unfortunate. As an Oakland native who loves her city it makes me sad to visit an establishment where the sales people don't make their customers feel welcomed. I truly hope the woman who helped me was not the owner, because that would be sad. Please note, I'm not a negative person and don't usually write negative Yelp reviews but was so turned off but the condescending smirk and dismissive demeanor from the sales person that I had to put it out there. Bottom line: loved the merchandise, hated the service. It makes Oakland look bad when a local business has staff that presents themselves as being too cool for customers yet will put a smile on their face and welcome their friends when they walk in (yes that happened while I was there). I hope that I'm the only one that complains about their customer service because I wouldn't want anyone else to experience the poor service I received. I want small businesses in Oakland to flourish and this isn't the way.

Yelp
I am a senior citizen and the nice sales lady helped me put together a really fun outfit! I had a bad day and I always stop in this store for candles and socks! They have the best socks and candles. Well the sales lady gently took me out of my comfort zone and I ended up purchasing the fun recommended outfit! However.. The bad news is that I went back and purchased my candle and socksl! I love this store...

Yelp
I love this store. The overall layout and style of the store is perfect. It has an amazing jewelry collection, and carefully selected clothing. Prices are reasonable for the quality of these items. The owner is super friendly and helpful, so is her staff. I found great original gifts here for my wife and will make this my first stop for all gifts from now on.

Yelp
Great collection and atmosphere. Raquel, the owner, is often there and always super sweet. They also host great events.

Yelp
Really loved this store. Walked in on accident and walked out with a new dress for $11! Their $10 rack is my new favorite thing.

Yelp
This shop carries Interesting pieces of jewelry and clothing from local designers. Recently bought a nice burgundy colored clutch online and I love it. :)

Yelp
very cool place, I'm glad I stopped on a whim to check it out! actually, it was more desperation because it was the boyfriend's birthday and i had procrastinated grabbing him a beloved oaklandish shirt. dashing by there an hour before he got off work, i find they are closed for the day for restocking...shit. I was kind of driving circles deciding where to go next when i ended up at the stoplight by owl N wood. they have tons of cool stuff, a mix between vintage consignment and local artist printed american apparel tees. i quickly got stoked on the idea of a vintage button-down, which he would be way more excited about than a tee, but their selection is small, and as is the case with vintage, sizes were limited. same with the tees-- i ended up choosing one based on it being available in his size and although it was one of my faves, there were a couple others i was in a toss-up with and size was the determining factor. i guess it's a good thing, because hopefully it means those local artists are selling well! so many pretty girls things, too. i purposely avoided looking too close because I'm easily distracted and was on a mission, but I'll go back. vintage was reasonably priced for those who like shopping for good pieces, ballpark $20-40. new tees were a little expensive, but i just tell myself I'm supporting a lot of peoples dreams in the process, $30-35. go here if you like: carefully chosen vintage sweaters, jackets, and tees, supporting local artists and businesses, cleanly designed gold metal jewelry, jimi hendrix and other funky fresh vibes

Yelp
This place has lots of cool stuff. Go buy a bunch of cool stuff here. They have a bunch of cool vintage jackets and shirts. It's been a while since I saw anything by OshKosh.
