"When you get back from whatever day trip you’ve gone on, step out and grab a drink at the Owls Club. It’s housed in an old mortuary, and they’ve got a really great outdoor space, too. Grab a glass of orange wine or a mezcal gimlet and sip on it under the strings of lights."

Great prices, fantastic tenders, and a super laid-back atmosphere that took us back to clubs 30 years ago. It's a former chapel that has retained its vibe via vigas, stained glass windows, and the booths made from the original pews. It's simple and effective with a great gothic vibe. Lestat would be comfortable here. We saw a full age range, and though it was small, it didn't get horribly crowded. Get there early for seating, though. The old fashioneds were great and only $11. No food offerings. There's one single room ungendered bathroom, so there's often a wait there. Saturday night live, lo-fi music.

Checked out the Owls Club while visiting Tucson and was not disappointed! The cocktail lounge is housed in an old crematorium and mortuary and has both and Erie and fun vibe to it! The cocktail menu was interesting and I very much enjoyed the Forest from the Tree’s! Definitely a must visit spot in Tucson, Arizona

Google
Excellent atmosphere and drinks, but the prices continue to soar and at $17/drink it's extremely hard to still justify going out when other bars in town offer equivalent cocktails for $12. Add onto that the extremely long service times and slightly awkward location and other bars tend to win out on Friday night.

This place was an old funeral home, and this is what will jump in your mind when you step in! The ambiance is cool though! The menu is so creative, you’ll have to try it out to find yourself. Bartenders are friendly and cool.

The way I see it, The Owls Club has the skeleton of something that could be great, but right now it’s more like a half-baked idea trying to wear the mask of a cool, offbeat spot. It’s got history, sure—an old morgue turned bar, which should be badass in theory. But it’s not doing anything with that history except letting it gather dust. It’s trying too hard to be something it’s not. The energy’s off—like a bad date that you want to leave, but you’re stuck there waiting for something, anything, to happen. The drinks don’t live up to the hype, the bartenders are as excited as a bag of wet socks, and the whole place just feels like it’s in limbo—never quite figuring out if it wants to be a dive or a trendy spot. There’s potential buried in there somewhere, but it’s hard to see when everything feels half-done. It’s like the place is still trying to get its bearings, and if it doesn’t figure it out soon, it’ll just become another “forgotten spot” in the city’s long list of almost-there bars.

Charming and intimate cocktail club housed in a beautiful historic building downtown Tucson. Cocktails served by friendly bar staff are expertly prepared, from the classics to innovative creations. Staff are accommodating and receptive.

Google
Great bar, lovely vibes, fantastic live music. The drinks are very hit or miss. Go for the ones that sound the most intense and you will not fail; anything seemingly normal will be bland and lame. ORDER THESE: Heart Full of Napalm (fruity, light tiki cocktail), Call and Response (exciting, weird and delightful aftertaste), White Smoke (not as smoky as you would think, more like a white chocolate creamy tiki wonder), and Handful of Gimme (classy, unique and interesting Manhattan style drink). I wanted Shore Runner and 16 Shells From A Thirty-Ought-Six to be super fab but just lacking and watery. Everyone is awesome, great vibes and great jazzy tunes. Highly recommend if you can get a seat indoors. Outside has one heater and some fire pits that are always occupied.

Yelp
We came here for date night and live show of a local artist. This is such a speakeasy bar that's a bit tucked away in my opinion. The staff is always super friendly and attentive even on busy nights. The bartender was able to make a location with some type of pineapple juice and ginger beer to accommodate. My husband had an old fashion and another drink. The outdoor patio is perfect for live music and there is enough room and seating area as well as dancing space. The vibes were great and the music was lovely. I hope to come back soon. Define you recommend if you're looking for a nice bar with great vibes.

Yelp
A bar in an old mortuary, a stunning & truly unique experience. Beautiful interiors, lovely seating options, good service and live music occasionally. Mostly lit by candlelight. A place to enjoy a drink and take in the beauty. Really nice experience & look forward to coming back!

Yelp
Fun ambience gives a gothic feel since it's next to a mortuary or was part of one. More seating would be nice, theres plenty of space. As far as service I do think there needs to be an easier way to get drinks as customers are ordering from different sections of bar area, it takes a bit to get anyone to get your order. Drinks are fairly priced as your paying for the experience.

Yelp
I went here last night and was excited to see they added more intricate cocktails. Unfortunately, I didn't like any of them I tried this time. I wish they still had the 63 Fizz. I wasn't a fan of the Strawberry switchblade. It tasted like grapefruit. The Soi cowboy was ok. It was salty and an interesting combo of flavors. I really hated the Banana Farmer.

Yelp
We came here Friday night just before Halloween around 7:00 pm. I already had heard about this bar being a mortuary back in the day. We walked inside and it's dark, you see tables with original pews I assume and a candle on each table with flowers in vases rotted years ago. Customers were dressed up goth having a ghouling time. It was everything I imagined it would be. Staff was friendly and my drink was strong. When we left a couple hours later the place was packed. Really cool bar not just in downtown but in general, come on a mortuary bar. Gotta love it!

Yelp
Cute little bar located in downtown Tucson Good drink selection. Had their Pineapple pear cider Ambiance was relaxing and chill. Recommend.

Yelp
In a past life, this building was a funeral home. Now it's a macabre, but romantic cocktail bar where you can pay your respects to some fine spirits crafted by expert mixologists. Owls Club is undoubtedly slinging the best cocktails in Tucson and it's not even close! You will never have to worry about whether what you are ordering is good. You only have to worry about whether or not you can get in. I've tried to go early, I'm talking 7pm on a Friday, and still had to wait. I don't think they do reservations. They have mastered the classics, as evidenced by serving the best grasshopper I've ever had. But beyond that, there's something for everyone, from the sweet, to the really stiff. My personal favorite of the few specialties I tried featured apple brandy, but with a rotating menu, you have to try not to fall in love with any one item. Rest assured, you'll never be disappointed trying something new. Outdoors, they sometimes hold events like vendor markets. Indoors, there's music, which you can enjoy from the antiquated, candlelit pews. Either way, there's not a bad seat in the house.

Yelp
Very cute space, I enjoyed the moody lighting and disco ball. When we went, it wasn't very full and we only explored the main room though I did see a few areas for seating elsewhere. Staff was pretty attentive and service was a reasonable speed for the cocktails. I enjoyed my drinks though I wish their menu offered more variety, for example I'm a big fan of spicy drinks and I didn't see that there. Of the drinks I tried, my favorites were the Mexican Holiday and Pidgeon Palace. I also had the Vagabond.

Yelp
Very low key place with moody ambiance. The bartenders are very knowledgeable and make excellent cocktails.

Yelp
Cool bar in outskirts of downtown Tucson; idk what the history is but it seems like it used to be a church or club of sort, with booth seating and kind of a tunneled venue feel. We only got one drink but it was quality, and we really liked the space and our bartender. Would definitely go again if we're in Tucson as it seems like a cool place with lots of different spaces to hang out in.

Yelp
Just had drinks, but loved the place. Cozy and intimate, even on the patio. Would definitely come back and try the food.
google avatar

Yelp
Good cocktails. The bartenders seem to have talent. So come for cocktails in a rather dull place. Grimey dirty bathroom. The graffiti might be left for a reason but a stinky dirty bathroom. No real atmosphere despite the history of the building. Have a drink, a good drink. I would not call this a dive bar. But not far off. Someone came that only drinks wine. No selection. Beers ok.

Yelp
I quite enjoyed my little outing at the Owls Club. This unassuming spot downtown is tucked across from the Children's Museum. After a long day of work, it was nice to try their specialty cocktails that were made with care by the bartender. Will definitely be coming back!

Yelp
Usually a great time at Owls but Tuesday must've been the most awkward and uncomfortable time I've had anywhere. The guy behind the bar must've been having his first day because he took an ungodly amount of time making drinks for me and my wife. I don't know if he's bartended in a cocktail bar before since he had a flashlight in his mouth while reading the recipes. needless to say this basically just blinded us and was a total vibe killer. His helper was pleasant but I definitely can't say the same for the bartender. Very off putting and amateur. Very frustrated and he did not help the energy in there. I used to come in a lot over a year ago and it was a LOT funner. Maybe this is what they've settled on or maybe it's just Tuesdays? There's a lot of talent at Owls from what ive heard and remember. Him not so much

Yelp
Thank you to the amazing bartender who served me and my husband on 12/26/23 We were highly impressed by the quality of the cocktails as well as the proper service we received despite a busy night with one bartender on the shift. If you go there - try a cocktail "Naked in the woods" - recipe made by the girl who served us (unfortunately didn't ask for her name). I live in Los Angeles but even there I rarely get that quality cocktails. You can tell that bartender really put her heart in what she's doing. The ambience is obviously on point, super chill, church-style gothic hipster bar. Prices are very reasonable too. Give this bartender a rise We will be back

Yelp
In a big lover of all things horror. Anytime I visit a new city I always search for curiosity and oddity shops. I was hooked the moment my cousin mentioned a bar that used to be a mortuary! Loved the ambiance, the drink selection, and the staff. Would recommend to anyone that loves to venture into the unordinary.

Yelp
This is a great place! The drinks are very tasty. I tried the strawberry daiquiri and I was not disappointed. Our groups tried many different drinks and all of them were great. Bartenders were friendly and fast. The decor and ambiance are great and I can't wait to go here again!
google avatar

Miriam S.

Yelp
What an interesting little bar. This place used to be a mortuary and you can definitely tell by the decor and lighting. The background music was excellent and not too loud that makes it easy for a good conversation. You order a the bar and pick up at the bar even if you're sitting at the bench. We decided to order a classic Margarita (very strong and Smokey but good overall) and a Ken Tiki (very refreshing and flavorful). They don't serve food, but they did had 3 small appetizers (like olives and such). The only place that was run down was the bathroom, a little scary for my comfort but at least was functioning.

Yelp
Owls club is a great bar to stop at if you can spare the time. Friendly staff, great drinks, and I enjoyed the environment. If I'm ever back in Tucson- I will stop here again.
google avatar

Ilkem G.

Yelp
This place has the coolest atmosphere for sure but more than that the drinks were amazing! I had an Old Fashioned and a Ken-Tiki while my husband had a bunch of different things (can't remember exactly what he had). All of them were very good to say the least. The bartender was the sweetest guy ever and we could see that he was very thorough in making the drinks perfectly. During our time therethere was also a concert in the next room and it was such a treat! All in all we had a great experience and very happy with our decision considering we had only three nights in Tucson. Just go there if you want to have great drinks and conversation in a chill place.

Yelp
Owl's Club had a solid happy hour and tasty craft cocktails. Happy hour cocktails are $8- several dollars off the regular cost- every day from 5-7 (my favorites are the vodka gimlet and the bee's knees.) Craft cocktails take time to make, so be prepared for a bit of a wait if they're busy, but the end product is well worth it. Owl's Club is inside of an old mortuary, so it's not one of Tucson's light and airy bars- this place is dark. But when the summer temperatures are scorching, it's pretty nice to sit in the dark and dream of cooler weather.

Yelp
This was a super unique experience. I really enjoy a good old fashioned, so we went to this speakeasy. It was an old church style building and we sat in church pews with kneelers on it also. We eventually ended up at the bar and I really enjoyed listening to the bartender and his experience with the top liquors. I was very impressed and he made a great drink.
google avatar

Dia L.

Yelp
The Owls Club is the closest thing to the goth bars I'm used to going to from PDX. My bartender was extremely attentive and made me thee best dirty martini, and yes, I'd go back in a heartbeat. Overall, this is a wonderful place for drinks and to people watch.

Yelp
Drinks are pretty good. Pricey and usually very busy during peak times. Not a lot of seating but a very specific creepy vibe.

Denise C.

Yelp
Great funky bar with killer cocktails!!! Loved the disco bar! Everyone was really friendly and interesting !

Yelp
I've been to The Owls Club twice now - once for a birthday and just recently during the Vegan Market they hosted. The atmosphere is so cool - as a former funeral home, it's got a dark, spooky vibe. The service at the bar was quick and we were able to find a pew booth to slip in to. (Yes, they have booths made of old church pews!). They offer a decent selection of both alcoholic and non-alcoholic options too. Definitely worth checking out!

Yelp
The entrance is off of the small side street called Scott Ave. The front door is easily missed. Once in, you step into a dark barren room (there's a large rustic coffee table off to the side). Barley four steps beyond this empty foyer you enter the bar, modestly lit with dim but plentiful points of light. Wood abounds, including walls and seating benches. On this Friday evening around 8-9pm there were two unrelated patrons that each had a dog at the bar. Looking around and taking in the ambience you might think you're in a neat little cellar speakeasy. With the covered and limited windows I don't think it would be any brighter at high noon... and that's not a bad thing! Food is limited to 4 modest appetizers (olives, bowl of nuts, etc), no kitchen fare. Cocktails are this establishments forte. We ordered the Margarita ($10 for about 6 oz) and the Ken-Tiki ($14 in a tall highball glass, approx 8 oz but with equal amounts of ice). The drinks are on the expensive side for Tucson. The margarita was "ok"... strong and not too sweet but not extraordinary (like the Century Room for e.g.). The Ken-Tiki was... terrific. We both loved the variety of liquors, including bourbon, rum, almond, and cinnamon. The house music was also very nice - indie/blues I think - and not so loud that you couldn't easily carry on a conversation which was a plus. Rumor has it they sometimes have live music and that would have made this venture 5-stars. But between the conjoined open-air booths with hard benches and the large dogs coming/going (we love/have dogs but it was just disconcerting having random people walking in off the street with a non-utility animal and wandering throughout the establishment or sitting at the bar while their dogs circled)... it's hard to explain but the whole atmosphere wasn't what we were expecting or were prepared for, so I'm sharing it here just in case you're looking for something different... or perhaps exactly like this :)

Yelp
LOW-KEY! Quaint, hole in the wall. The ambiance speaks for itself! Candle lit, pews and outdoor seating for groups. This western bar is a sight to see, a MUST to stop by for at least one drink! The bartenders were very knowledgeable and their appreciation for creating drinks was enjoyable. Funky, refreshing drinks!! I recommend light and fruity, the darker drinks were heavy for my taste. Warning: Absinthe gives you a WICKED headache !!!
google avatar

Jocelyn S.

Yelp
Sweet little gem off the beaten path downtown. Drinks are really good but they are high-end. I always get at least one whiskey sour. Definitely a good place to get a drink
google avatar

Rick M.

Yelp
Tucson's well kept secret. You could walk right by the entrance and not know there's a bar inside. Wonderful atmosphere. Dark, romantic, fun. Excellent drinks. Hate to give this secret away but the owner's and staff deserve the shoutout. By the way, this place used to be a funeral home :)
google avatar

Alana K.

Yelp
Yes, the cocktails are expertly crafted and unique, but the bartenders take their job way too seriously. Like, stop being cool for a minute and just be a human being, or at least pretend to! The interaction was so awkward, I felt like I was intruding just by ordering a drink. Super weird vibes. Gila River (bourbon, creme de cacao, Ancho Reyes, lemon, mole bitters) was excellent, but we bounced after one drink. A shame because the dark old church ambiance is pretty cool.
google avatar

Robin M.

Yelp
Seemed like a cool, unique vibe, but when your hear frat things about the drinks, you would think the bartenders might have a good recommendation. Instead, the bartender couldn't be bothered by my wuestion
google avatar

Yelp
The music outside last weekend was horrible and way too loud for relaxing by the fire. Inside was packed at the bar and one male bartender with brown and gray hair/beard was a jerk. No need for attitude to people waiting for their drinks. The red headed bar tender was awesome and served great drinks. I will not recommend this location unless you just need something close to the Hampton downtown with an outdoor area that allows smoking. We were able to enjoy our friends and cigars minus the music.
google avatar

Thomas R.

Yelp
Gloves the decor and overall the place was low light, which added to the ambiance. Drinks were creative and more importantly, tasted great.

Yelp
Located on S. Scott ave. Is this very interesting hidden bar in what was once a mortuary! Loaded with decor from the 20's this place sure takes you back into time! Tonight like any other night I ordered there delicious old fashion! Prolly one of the best in town! After we got our long awaited old fashioned from the bar we went out side to the patio. It was pretty full and found seating next to the fire pit. Noticing there were hot amber in the fire pit we decided to grab some logs and tossed them in. The fire was for sure a nice touch. After a few old fashion and a few fire logs the bartender came out in a very rude manner accusing us starting the fire - calling us rude names. After exchanging a few words with the bartender we decided enough is enough and toss our drink and walk out! Supposedly your not allowed to have any fires! But they had no posted signs nor no one told us. They also had it posted on there web site to come and enjoy their fire pit. This situation could of been avoided if he would of approached us in a calm manner instead of making assumptions. We love this place but prolly would never come back after this experience. KCYE

Yelp
Their website says they are open on Sundays from 5pm to midnight. I got there a little after 5 and waited until 5:30pm. They remained closed and I never saw anyone inside getting ready to open. I would like to try again but they need to be open when they say they are or update their website with the correct hours.
google avatar

Shane P.

Yelp
One of the best Hidden bars in Tucson. The viewing room is a great place to just have some drinks and chill. Top notch Bartenders. High end liqueurs are available.
google avatar

David K.

Yelp
This was the second place my wife took me for a drink to celebrate my birthday. There was a gentleman in a wheelchair who was really friendly and this was the highlight of the stop. While I love the name of the establishment, the experience could have been better. We arrived at around 7pm and it was almost full. The bartender was not friendly and the vibe of the place is just odd and uncomfortable. I had the Samba da Morte and it was ok.
google avatar

Christina M.

Yelp
We've been overcharged before but also the service is very slow, bartenders are dismissive, rude, and sometimes aggressive. Too bad it's a great location and great outdoor space. We won't be back.
google avatar

Ashlynne F.

Yelp
there is something reassuring about a bar that a funeral home !! i loooove the owls club - def a staple in my bar rotation :) never a bad drink! never a bad vibe!! cool bartenders come here if you want to meet a ghost

Yelp
We love to go out bar hopping and thought we would give this one a try. Very very dark inside, negative energy vibe and the drinks are just average or below.
google avatar

Frances K.

Yelp
Service was amazing from my favorite bartender ever! Loved the vibe of the place and the creepy, dark corners! Live music was a little too loud but we just went into the adjoining room and had fun chatting and sipping on our drinks. Will definitely be back!
google avatar

Yelp
Best mixologist I've found in TUS. Very knowledgeable and not pretentious. Cool bar and outdoor patio area. Really enjoyed.... A two-round stop when bar-hopping.
google avatar

Bryan T.

Yelp
first time back in a few years and the place has really fallen off. Bartenders seemed to hate even being there. Had a pour of Barrel Dovetail whiskey and it was a whopping $27 which is INSANE; for reference that same bottle is around $18 for a 2oz pour at nearby bars. Do yourself a favor and go to Good Oak, Sidecar, Batch, or really anywhere else. You'll have a better time and be charged a normal amount.
google avatar

Yelp
I absolutely love the Owls Club! Anyone who hasn't been to this lovely gem, I recommend greatly. It's definitely unique. The drinks are delicious and made really well. There's also a patio out back for those who don't like the feeling of church or small-ish spaces. At night, the place is lit up with candles and it's super cool. There's a drink you can find for everyone.

J L.

Yelp
Lipstick on a pig. Been coming to to this bar over the years every winter. This last season was a huge dump in quality. Bar is dirty, drinks are poorly prepared, bartenders dont care. Great space with no hospitality, no drink knowledge, slow service, no management. Seems like they lost some of their previous veteran bartenders from last couple years. I see no consistency in their drinks. This was one bar I used to be able to go in this city to get a quality cocktail. Such a shame, I went multiple times from December until now and it was only the beauty of the space that kept me going back. I just started ordering a beer and a shot. Its just a dressed up dive bar. Why even have all the ingredients of cocktail bar?
google avatar

Cristina G.

Yelp
Such a coooool vibe in here. Music is random but so great! There's candles lit, gorgeous yet simple decor. Old school hacienda... so dope. Also I love whiskey! Yummmm
google avatar

Debby D.

Yelp
Love the vibe. Bartenders know their stuff! I am partial to prohibitionary style cocktails and they know them all. Come in for a delicious old fashioned or if you are like me come in for a delicious vesper/aviation/bee knees cocktail aka anything with GIN! They know how to do it right!
google avatar

Courtney B.

Yelp
This place has crazy amazing drinks! Definitely make a stop here if you have the chance. The atmosphere is small and dark with church benches as seats and a long bar down the side of the room. They sell nuts and olives as snacks but don't serve actual food, it is very close to congress street so this is a great place to stop for a quick cocktail before dinner.
