Google
High recommend this place! The line was quite long to get seated because it was that popular! Below are pictures of the spicy wonton, Braised beef stew noodles (regular round, belt flat), and last but not least the mung bean noodles with garlic sauce. Overall 10/10 for the food! 💜

Google
They had a long line even when we visited at 2pm! The server were overwhelmed and it was a bit chaotic. The environment was okay, typically Chinese fast food vibe. Their noodle was hand pull freshly! Very cool! The lamb noodle was perfect and everything else we ordered was authentic. Their price were cheap too. Definitely recommended! Be aware they don’t take Amex or Discover 😉

Google
First time here. There’s very little meat in the noodle or the dumplings (all chives). Flavor is just okay, it wasn’t a wow. Side dishes were not tasty… esp the cold beef slices, flavorless. Probably won’t come back.

Google
Food is decent. You can 100% sure the noodles are handmade; however both bowls we got the noodles texture are on the hard side, feels like you can cook it abit longer. Soup was good but the beef is a bit overcook and chewy like eating a rubber. Portion is decent. Overall pretty decent hand pull noodle in the area.

Google
Great spot for hand pulled noodles. Place gets packed but people Move through quickly. Quick attentive service. Noodles have a great chew and multiple noodle options. Highly Recommend the beef soup with pickled vegetables and spicy wontons. Soup broth well balanced. Chili oil on every table to adjust spiciness to desired heat. Spicy wontons had amazing balance of sour, sweet and spicy with a thin chewy wrapper. Vegetable stir fry noodles were as advertised. Menu Could benefit from larger vegetarian options.

Google
This place was worth the wait! We tried the cucumber salad appetizer, the steamed pork buns and each had a noodle soup. I got the pork short ribs and everyone else in my group had the traditional beef. Next time I'll go with the beef too. The handmade noodles were so chewy and fresh, and we loved how you could select which style of noodle shape you wanted (round, flat, etc). Don't come here expecting any fancy service - you order via QR code from your phone and basically have to get up and go ask if you need anything like a water refill or more napkins. But the food is delicious!!

Google
Top-knotch spicy noodle soup! I got the Spicy Lovers Soup with Added Beef. The noodles were chewy and perfectly done, and the bone broth was really flavorful without too much salt. A bit on the pricey side ($21) for a bowl of soup, but worth it given the quality.

Google
I had the Braised Beef Stew Noodle Soup. The beef was incredibly tender, and the seasoning was spot-on. The rich broth, simmered to perfection, carried delightful fragrances. Paired with chewy noodles, it was a comforting delight. The pork ear appetizer surprised my taste buds—in a good way! It was flavorful, well-seasoned, and a unique addition to the meal. Definitely worth trying.

Yelp
Came here with a friend around 7:30 on a Saturday evening. We were seated pretty much right away, and food came out quickly I ordered the lamb hand pulled noodle (non spicy was a plus!) Soup was pretty good, not too heavy not too salty. Lamb was pretty flavorful and noodles had a good texture - i got the small round but would prob get medium round next time for more chew. Gave comfort food vibes. Would come here again!

Yelp
Located in the heart of downtown, this authentic hand pulled noodles shop is kicking out some tasty dishes. The shop is small and decorated with accolades and their story. The staff is fast and the food is served hot. Ordering is done by app at your table which is convenient. The star of the show is the hand pulled noodles. Made and prepared to perfection. You can definitely taste the difference in the quality. The soup, sauces and toppings were also house made and super flavorful. The popcorn chicken was ok, but I would skip it. The noodle dishes are over generous portions and will fill you up.

Yelp
The hand pulled noodles are very thick, and very filling! Their classic braised beef soup is very good, but it's similar to what you can find at other restaurants. I wish they gave just a little more meat so that it would pair perfectly with the amount of noodles! You order online via a QR code, and the interior is nice and cozy. It's a smaller space, but warm and welcoming!

Yelp
What happened to my favorite noodle place? Last night's dinner was utterly disappointing. I was excited to try the new mala spicy beef noodles, but they had absolutely no flavor--just red chili oil floating on a bland broth with tiny bits of beef. 1/5. Kiddo ordered my usual braised beef with pickles, which was slightly better at 3/5. The broth was fine, but the noodles were unusually al dente, making them too tough to enjoy. They probably needed a few more minutes of cooking. The brisket was also disappointing--just small scraps of beef, not the usual tender cubes. It wasn't even close to closing time, so if they ran out of proper cuts, they shouldn't have kept taking orders. The bowl looked sad and unappetizing. Hubby decided to try something new--the beef chow mein. He liked the noodles but found the beef tough and chewy, definitely not a good cut. 2/5 Overall, a very disappointing dinner. Hopefully, this was just a fluke.

Yelp
Quick, hot & delicious! I do love QR code table ordering. Fresh hand pulled noodles is the perfect start to any of their noodle dishes. The Lanzhou Hand Pulled Noodles dish has a tasty homemade broth. Spicy Ground Pork Dry noodles has just the right amount of kick and numbing flavor.

Joey Y.

Yelp
Whenever I come here, it's always packed. They have an iPad to join the waitlist, but the wait is usually around 30 to 40 minutes, and during rush hour, it can be over an hour. I waited about 45 minutes for some hand-pulled noodles. To order, they have a QR code system, which allows you to place your order instantly instead of asking a server to input it. I found this really convenient. You just scan the QR code, order, and they deliver your food when it's ready. This place is definitely great for hand-pulled noodles, especially with the spicy chili crisp on the side, it's always a perfect pairing.

Yelp
Popular spot in San Mateo downtown! We came on a Saturday night and by 7:30 they closed down the waitlist for reaching capacity. We waited around 30 min for a table for 4. I thought the noodles were very well done and had great texture, but the flavor of the broth felt a bit lackluster for me.

Amy K.

Yelp
If you're curious about traditional Chinese casual soup noodles, this is the place! I tried the spicy noodles and braised beef noodles, and they were just what I expected. If it's your first time, the food might feel a bit heavy since Chinese cuisine tends to use a lot of oil, so you might want to get some boba to balance it out. Luckily, there are plenty of boba places nearby!

Rose C.

Yelp
Highly recommend the braised beef noodle soup with Chinese pickles! Portions are huge. I had the leftovers for lunch the next day. I got large flat noodles but next time I might try the small flat instead. Came on a Saturday night around 6:30pm and the wait was about 20 min. There's a waitlist you add yourself to and they will text you when your table is ready. The street is beautiful to walk around while you're waiting.

Cheryl L.

Yelp
Great hand pulled noodles! There is a line - we got there around 7:30 and waited ~30 minutes. However service was fast! Portions are large - you can choose your noodle size (small / medium / large, and round vs flat). I got the beef noodle soup - the noodles were bouncy and the beef was tender!

Jonathan C.

Yelp
Ordered delivery from here: tl;dr: Get the spicy wontons and skip the Lanzhou handled noodle. Lanzhou Handpulled Noodle (2-3/5): Surprisingly, their signature dish was the most disappointing of the night. The broth lacked depth and flavor. We ended up finishing the noodles using the braised beef broth. Braised beef with Chinese pickle (4/5): Nice braised beef and the broth had mild heat. Decent flavors, but not the best I've had. Pork dumplings with shrimp and chives (4/5): Solid dumplings and wouldn't mind getting again. Spicy wontons (5+/5): Holy cow, I didn't expect to be surprised by this dish. The sauce had the perfect balance of umami and chili oil. Wontons were also delicious. Probably the best version of this I've had and better than Ding Tai Fung's version IMO.

Aly C.

Yelp
===TL;DR=== - Lanzhou handpulled noodles with regular round noodle type with spicy sauce ===TMI=== Fuss free simple menu, you're really there for their handpulled noodles. Clean, clear, and aromatic soup base simmered for at least 20 hours. Your choice of noodle type paired with slices of beef's, chili oils, radish - boom done. Noodles were fresh and bouncy. I've personally added more chili oils from the table and it was perfect. The only thing I was unsure of was if the spicy sauce you order is the same as the table one -shrug-.... Cause if it's the same, you can just order the original and add your own amount of chili oils. Add a splash of vinegar if you want to elevated the flavor profile. Simple as 123. They might have a line outside but it moves relatively quick.

Yelp
I have Northern Chinese ancestry, and I guess that's one reason why I've always preferred wheat-based sources of carbohydrates, like noodles and dumplings, over rice. I've been eyeing this spot for years, and so happy to finally come here on a Saturday roughly around noon, and it was suuuuuuper packed and crowded. We put ourselves on the Yelp waitlist, and then walked around downtown San Mateo for a bit while waiting for our text. We walked for about half an hour, and even though they never texted us our reservation, when we went back and told them so, they were kind to bump us to first in line. While waiting, it was very fun and fascinating to watch the cooks create the hand-pulled noodles through the glass windows. We were seated in a tight corner of the restaurant. There's not a lot of seating available in this tight space, and hence the wait is always so long with long lines. We got beef noodle soup, sauce with pork, shrimp dumplings. I was very hungry, and the food was so good, I was very focused on savoring my food, so I hardly talked at all during the meal. Mmmmm, so happy to say I finally tried Ox 9 Lanzhou Handpulled Noodles!

Matt L.

Yelp
TLDR: This place has great noodle texture, but the flavor wasn't quite doing it for me. If you're going in a large party, be prepared to wait! Parties of 2 tend to get in faster since seating is limited. This was my 2nd time eating at an Ox 9 (visited the Milpitas branch) and had a similar experience all around. Stewed Lamb Noodles: The knife-cut noodles were perfectly chewy and had the thickness of medium-round noodles. I enjoyed the noodles thoroughly, but the rest of the dish lacked flavor. The broth was super light and didn't have anything salty to give it a pop so it was essentially just hot water. I was excited for the lamb, but a lot of the lamb bits were dry. I added black vinegar to the stew, which helped, however I would order a different dish altogether. (2/5) Spicy Pig Ears: I love pig ears but this was also a miss for me. The dish itself was very fragrant from the cilantro. Never been sensitive to cilantro, but it was unusually aromatic and our party ended up not finishing it. As for the flavor, it didn't seem to stick to the pig ears, so it was pretty plain except that you felt the spice from the jalapeños. (2/5) Service: The wait staff was good/attentive despite our party being seated at the very back. We did have to wait a bit longer than most parties since we had 6 people. I like that they give you the check pretty quickly after finishing, but it could be a bad thing if you're not in a rush. (4/5) Ambiance: Best way to describe it - "a bustling interior". There's limited/narrow seating since the shop is small. As such, it'll be a bit loud but the vibes were great! I enjoyed the decor and pictures describing each noodle option. (4/5)

Michelle K.

Yelp
I was recommended this place by multiple people, and I can understand why! I appreciate that we can order everything on our mobile phone, and the space is also quite large. The pig ears were so stinkin good, and I'd get them in bulk! I also got the noodle soup with belt noodles (I love how there is a motley of noodle types hahaha) and devoured the whole bowl.

Yelp
Ox 9 has really great hand pulled noodle dishes and soup! After a weekend in Monterey my friends and I decided to stop by this noodle shop on our way back home and were comforted by the lovely depth of flavors and soul warming broths. As the portions are quite large, my boyfriend and I decided to share the beef noodle soup as well as a side of popcorn chicken. The popcorn chicken was average and a little too doughy for my taste, however the beef noodle soup was scrumptious! Pro tip they have chilli oil and chili flakes that amp up the flavor of every dish! Definitely recommend adding it to the soup. All in all, Ox 9 was a solid place for delicious noodles and soup.

Annie S.

Yelp
As the cool kids would say: the food here slays. It slaps. It's bussin'. There's just nothing quite like hand-pulled noodles. It's fresh, it's elastic-y, perfectly chewy, and just goddamn heavenly. I ordered the beef rib noodles with BELT flat noodles. I should've gotten the LARGE flat noodles (one size smaller) because I had a hard time slurping the wide noodles. To be honest, the noodles should've been named EXTRA WIDE noodles because it's really, really wide. Nonetheless, I had a fun time eating my dinner, even if I was struggling a little bit. The appetizers were just as scrumptious. I'd recommend ordering the cucumbers with a spicy & sweet garlic sauce and pork dumplings to share.

Anne C.

Yelp
A really casual noodle spot with really large portions. Especially liked their chili sauce and wide pulled noodles. Their spicy wontons were also good. Overall it was very decent and good pricing however I probably wouldn't wait very long to eat here. Service was also ok, the waiters seemed to be rushing us to leave when there was no one waiting in line by asking us if we wanted a takeaway box and putting the cheque down really early.

Sophia B.

Yelp
Nearby parking at the Caltrain station, which also has a lower level. Long wait on weekends, 20 minutes for party of 2 on a Saturday at lunchtime. Menu and ordering are completely automated by scanning the QR code on your table. Restaurant interior is the cleanest I've ever seen. The restaurant staff are highly efficient and super busy, but they still stopped to help us when we had questions. I ordered the medium round noodles in braised beef stew with pickled veggies. Fresh noodles were slightly soft, with faint flour taste. The broth hit all my cravings for salty, savory, and mild spice! It was SO good and the beef was so tender. The pickled veggies had a flavor that reminds me of Tianjin preserved vegetable--which is a little funky and not for everyone. The pig ear appetizer was a little oily, but had a complex blend of spice flavors including Szechuan peppercorn (not enough to be numbing). It was highly addicting, and even though my husband and I were full from the noodle soup, we could not stop eating this. Ultimately Ox 9 is very good, but not the best for Chinese noodle soup. I would say if you're in downtown San Mateo and craving noodle soup but need a break from pho and ramen, this place checks all the boxes!

Tyler Y.

Yelp
This is a great spot to go to when you crave some noodle soup. Located in downtown San Mateo next to Caltrain station, it has many types of noodle soup options, so you can get something either hearty or lighter. Lanzhou Hand Pulled Noodles - this is probably their most popular item. The soup is very flavorful for being a light/clean broth. It pairs very nicely with the chili oil. The meat is also good - thinly sliced and very tender. I wish it had more of the meat, which would have bumped this to 5 stars. Chinese Burger - it is delicious. The meat is fall of the bone tender and it is very very juicy. And when on an empty stomach and craving something fatty, it will hit the spot.

Yelp
Didn't understand the hype with noodles at first. Don't get me wrong, I love noodles. Instant noodles, udon, ramen... I mean, I'm a noodle lover, but the way my family raved about this place... what? Well, my friends. I'm happy share that Ox 9 is worth their praise and more. My parents invited me out for lunch on a weekday and I was able to feast on delicious food on someone else's dime, hehe. The restaurant itself is long and narrow so it can feel somewhat cramped if it's packed (which always seems to be the case) and parking is what it is in downtown San Mateo. A few spots outside and a nearby parking garage. As it was my first time, I opted for their Lanzhou Handpulled Noodles in mild spicy and got their thin noodles. My family also got their pig ears, popcorn chicken, and sliced beef to share as appetizers. Overall, it's worth a visit if you haven't stopped by already. I'm a bit ashamed that it took me so long, but I'm happy to know about it now and will gladly repeat a visit.

Yelp
This place came to my awareness recently and I was so excited when we coincidentally parked our car right across from Ox9 before deciding where to have dinner. We ended up grabbing dinner here with two other people (group of 3) and decided to share plates and do it family style. I was able to get our name on the waitlist (there's and iPad inside) and we must have beat the rush because we only had to wait about five minutes. We ordered via QR code and the food came out very fast. Even tho the order was automated/online, we were pleasantly surprised to find that we still had excellent wait service. The staff was quick, attentive and friendly. The food was ah-may-zing! As someone who is gluten and MSG sensitive I was worried and not sure what I'd be able to enjoy or how I'd feel later. I loved the mung beans noodles - and was able to try all the hand pulled noodle dishes! Aside from a little expected bloating, I didn't have much of a reaction thankfully! If they use MSG, I suspect it's not much as I typically get foggy and unwell when I consume. The N.1.2 Chili Oil Noodles(Wide Noodles) 油泼面 (宽) were incredible. The broth of the ramen was delicious. I didn't try the pork buns but everyone else said they were really good. We also ordered the basil popcorn chicken (not pictured) and I'll say - while the chicken was delicious and really enjoyable, I didn't get the basil flavor coming through as I had hoped. I'd say definitely order but not because you're hoping for basil...but rather dry cooked spicy chicken bites. I would definitely recommend and return to Ox 9.

Hannah C.

Yelp
I can see what the hype is about! Ox 9 is packed out on a Sunday lunch. Parking is hit or miss on the street, but free on Sundays. If you've done a few laps and still can't find anything, try the subtle underground lot in the train station parking area. The queue was long but moved quickly. Add your name and phone number to the waitlist and they'll call your queue number when your table is ready. Ordering is done via QR code (which wasn't the most intuitive since each person orders on their own device but you can't see the cumulative cart till you get the final bill). I ordered the braised beef noodles. Spice-lovers will get a kick out of this place, but mild/no-spicy connoisseurs beware! The bad news is there isn't an option to choose spice level or customize the chili oil in the mobile browser ordering page that I found, at least for the braised beef. The good news is that the spice level was adequate for me (typically very sensitive to spiciness level); not too intense. The pieces of braised beef are hit or miss. Some are delectable and savory and tender; some are mostly gristle. And the noodles are, predictably, a highlight. Service is great. Even though it's not traditional table service, the waitstaff are attentive with refilling waters and getting food and the bill out quickly. And friendly greeting upon arrival and departure. Niche pro of this restaurant are the sturdy chairs with arms that are perfect to hang purses off of!

Yelp
Perfect spot to eat at on a cold chilly day! If you have a large group, get there before it opens as it's a small spot. Love that they offer a variety of noodle options to select from (6 to be exact). Ordering is super simple as you just scan the QR code and order through your phone.

Tiffany M.

Yelp
If you are craving hand-pulled noodles, this is the spot for you. I have been here multiple times with my family and it has been one of our favorites. This spot is located in the heart of San Mateo and it brings one of the best beef noodle soup. The broth is so rich and flavorful, with just the right amount of spice. My grandmother who is typically a picky eater came here for the first time and she could not stop raving about how good the soup is. Not too salty too. The noodles are perfectly chewy and have that perfect texture that you can only get from hand-pulling. The beef is tender and well-seasoned, adding another layer of deliciousness to the dish. This restaurant is interesting in terms of ordering and their service. When you first sit down, you scan the QR code on the table and order through your phone. Shortly after ordering, they will bring you your beverages and then your food. All payments are made through your phone unless you specifically ask for the check. Honestly, I like this way of ordering, makes it efficient and easy especially if you want to add menu items to the existing order. Definitely will be back for more beef noodle soup. 4/5 stars.

Yelp
We've dined at Ox 9 in Milpitas, and it was delicious. Hoping for more of the same, we met with my brother's family for lunch at 10:45. The restaurant opens at 11:00 and we were the first guests in the door. That was a good thing because there were seven of us and they appeared to only have one eight-topper. Of course, they might have been able to push a couple of tables together but the trick to that is getting two tables next to each other to be empty at the same time. Anyway, ordering is apparently normally done via cell phone and QR code. However, we were taking so long that a server came over and took our order with her cell phone. We got several items, shown in my pictures below. Somehow, I managed to forget to photograph the Pork Dumplings with Napa Cabbage and Pork Dumplings with Shrimp and Green Chives that we ordered. They were the last to come out and I was probably too busy enjoying my Lanzhou Noodle Soup. I think that the Soup Noodles are fantastic. The broths are pretty good. The meats that I tried were very tender. The Bean Curd Noodles were an interesting flavor and texture though a bit more cilantro would have been nice. The Spicy Won Tons were pretty good too. The two dumplings were okay but nothing spectacular. I'm not sure if I'd order them again. Or it could be that they were simply outshone by the Noodle Soups. Maybe if the dumplings had come out first, I'd have liked them better. The Chow Mein, I never got to try but I did notice that there were a log of vegetables which I would normally enjoy. I'll have to order a plate for myself or for the table next time. The Pork Buns, I found disappointing. The bread part was okay but the filling was small and somewhat dry. I think that I may be comparing them to Pan-fried Pork Dumplings that are crispy on the bottom, soft on top and filled with juicy pork similar to Xiao Long Bao. Even though I can't give everything a five-star review, overall, this visit still qualifies as five-star because even though the restaurant got busy and there was a line out the door, we never felt pressured to finish and leave. Some places only care about turning tables and while we understand and appreciate that, you simply can't rush kids when they're eating. Service was attentive and took care of our every need including more napkins, forks, water refills, etc.

Catherine N.

Yelp
Wow - Ox 9 is dishing up the epitome of noodle perfect for me! We tried beef chow mein as well as the Lanzhou beef noodle soup - both with different noodles. The wide noodles were chewy and had the best QQ texture. The soup was rich and flavorful, with a great hit of chili oil. The chow mein was also excellent - full of tender velvetted beef slices and wok hei flavor. I think I'm a ruined for eating chow mein anywhere else forever. You order on your phone so it's perfect for a fast lunch if you're in the area!

Kelly N.

Yelp
After seeing so much hype about this place, I finally decided to try it on a Saturday for lunch. The first time we came around 12:30pm, there was almost an hour wait so we gave up. We made sure to come early next time and got in right away. They can definitely get busy so plan accordingly. You order via a QR code and our food came out quickly. When busy, there's more noise and hustle and bustle since tables turn over quick. We got: - Spicy Pig Ears: really great texture, slightly spicy from the jalapeños. Really good appetizer! - Pork Buns: I wouldn't recommend. We could have gone without it. They were a bit doughy and the stuffing inside was just okay. - Northwest Style Lamb Soup with Bread: comes with clear glass noodles if you want a gluten free alternative to the hand-pulled wheat noodles. The broth was so flavorful and peppery! The bread on the side, which I was going to pass on, is actually really good! - Braised Pork Intestines Noodle: The broth comes mild by default, and mild is a more spicy than you would think. But overall, it was still flavorful, not just spicy and that's it. The noodles, which is what the place is known for, were fresh and chewy!

Anna Y.

Yelp
Came here to try this weekend and the wait was okay but not bad for a Friday night. Got seated in 20 min. Heard about this place and want to say I wasn't super blown away by the food. The beef noodle soup broth wasn't really that flavorful but the noodles were good, wish it was more bouncier. The popcorn chicken though good, also didn't taste that special. As for the cucumber salad, I liked the shape of it but also would've liked it to be more flavorful. Overall, I thought this place was ok. My friend said usually it's pretty good but maybe when we went the quality was off that day, I'd go back to try other things on their menu and see how it is.

Seth R.

Yelp
So , after a little disappointment from kajiken. I needed to fill up my belly with some hot soup, and on my way back I saw this restaurant that have a line out to the street. That is a sign for me to try this restaurant. This restaurant , its fresh hand pulled noodle from China. I see the owner pulling the noodle in the kitchen very busy and it looks really really good. So i ordered their special house beef noodle. You can order online with QR code on the table and you can choose your thickness of the noodle also. I got an appetizer, spicy dumpling which I think it was not that good. Of course the wrapper was good but the filling inside wasn't so good, so sad. But the noodle was really good the broth was light a hint of Chinese spices. Beef was tender and crunchy refreshing from the radish. Also a little spicy from the chili oil. The restaurant it's pretty small , sometime you might have to wait long time. But I definitely go back and get this noodle again!!!

Pat S.

Yelp
Ordered for pickup. It was very tasty and nourishing soup. I would have liked it a little hotter since I ate it outside the restaurant upon picking up. I had left over noodles. Very small portion of meat. I would have liked a little more beef with my leftovers.

Annie C.

Yelp
Came here on a weekday and was lucky to have no wait time. My friend and I ordered two types of noodles and the dishes came out with unexpectedly huge portions!! All noodles are hand-pulled and cooked to the perfect al dente texture. Can't wait for the next time I can come back!

Nancy D.

Yelp
Really yummy hand pulled noodles in DT San Mateo! We got spicy wontons and pig ears, then four bowls of the braised beef with pickled veggies. The noodles were so good and fresh and the broth was perfectly seasoned. The portions are also huge and the chili oil was good. Also, our waiter was very cute and nice. Highly recommend this place if you love fresh noodles!

Stephanie L.

Yelp
Had been craving the spicy wontons (I previously noted as dumplings) since I came for the first time last month, and had to return. They again did not disappoint and were as good as I remembered. I love the nutty hint in the chili oil. Switched up the soup this time and got Braised beef with Chinese pickle and knife cut noodles. The soup was tasty and beefy with bok choy and pickled veg. Some of the beef pieces were chewy and overly fatty, but not enough to deduct a full star. The knife cut noodles had a great chewy texture and help up great in the soup. Service was quick and we got in just before the line started, which was great.

Jay Y.

Yelp
The noodles and the soup are good. I will surely come back. The paintings on the wall talking about the history of Lanzhou Noodles are painful to the eyes though. For example, just the first section of that painting talks about its origin in the Tang Dynasty: 1. When Chinese characters are arranged vertically, they MUST be from right to left. Do not use the vertical arrangement if you want to write left to right to align with the picture order. 2. The Tang Dynasty was from 618 to 907 "AD". Not "BC". (If it were BC, it would be 907 BC to 618 BC, not BC 618 to BC 907, as in the drawing.) 3. The guy in the painting was surely wearing Qing clothes, with a Qing hairstyle. That's over a thousand after the Tang Dynasty. I assume that Ox 9 hired a creative company to design that painting, and that company was really bad.

Yelp
If you are looking for a secret gem that never disappoints, Ox 9 Lanzhou Handpulled Noodles is the place! It has become my go-to place for a flavorful, authentic, and heartwarming meal! I've visited Ox 9 Lanzhou Handpulled Noodles multiple times, primarily on weekend evenings for dinner. Despite having a line every time, it moves efficiently, which speaks to both the restaurant's popularity and their effective service. I have enjoyed the following items: * Lanzhou Hand-Pulled Noodles: The noodles are notably chewy and lengthy, cooked to perfection * Popcorn Chicken: Crispy and flavorful * Braised Beef Noodle Soup: reminds me to Taiwan * Spicy Pig Ears: Spicy but yum Overall, Ox 9 delivers on authenticity and quality, making it a reliable choice for me. Whether you're a fan of hand-pulled noodles or looking to try something new, Ox 9 is worth a visit.

Yelp
This place is so delicious. We came at 1130a on a weekday and there was no wait. We got seated right away. This place is newer so pretty clean for an Asian place. We ordered 2 different noodles. All the ordering is online. I love that they have a whole wall to tell you the different types of noodles you can order and all seem fresh and perfectly chewy. Braised beef with Chinese pickle (large flat) 4.5/5 The broth has depth of delicious beefy flavor. It coats the thick flat hand pulled noodles well. I really enjoyed the Chinese pickles in here making each bite refreshing and belly warming. I added a little chili oil for an extra level of flavor. Spicy ground pork noodles (medium round) 5/5 The noodles were the perfect size to absorb the umami of the spicy pork sauce. This wasn't particularly spicy but it sure was tasty. Would absolutely order this again! Spicy pig ears (4/5) These are classic chewy cold pig ears. Needed just a hint more of soy sauce or saltiness. Overall, I love coming here because their noodles are so fresh and both the soups and sauces are so flavorful.

Yelp
This is the perfect spot for a cold, chilly day when you're craving fresh noodles in hot broth. The warmth of the soup is so comforting, and the noodles are super fresh--just what you need to warm up. Service was quick and efficient, and I really liked the convenience of ordering from my phone. Overall, great place for a cozy, satisfying meal, and I'll definitely be back!

Yelp
If you CRAVIN for noodles, look no further than this spot. The noodles are incredibly soft and the best part? You get to choose from several different types: big round, small round, and flat noodles. I went with the small round variety, and they were delightful--perfectly chewy and absorbed the soup beautifully. The soup was flavorful. It had that comforting warmth that made the whole experience feel like a cozy hug. The ambiance is casual and great for small groups. The service was friendly and efficient, which is always appreciated when you're in the mood for delicious noodles.

Yelp
My sis and I wanted to have lunch together. I had Ox 9 Lanzhou Handpulled Noodles in my bookmarks for a while and when I mentioned this to her, she said, "Sure, let's go!" It was my first time, but my sister has been here before. She said it used to have a long line out the door. Despite the wait, she was a fan! We were there on a Monday and we were seated immediately. QR code is provided at the table to place your order. We weren't starving, so we ordered 2 dishes without appetizers. With only 2 people, it isn't easy to try many dishes. So next time, I gotta bring more people! ***OUR PICKS*** BRAISED BEEF STEW NOODLE SOUP ~ Tender chunks of beef and 6 choices of hand-pulled noodles and we chose the medium round which wasn't too thick or thin. I enjoyed this dish. The broth wasn't salty nor was it bland for us. I'm not into thick, starchy noodles, so this was just perfect! They give quite a bit of noodles and beef with a few stalks of veggies. We shared this bowl and I was already full! 5/5 LAMB CHOW MEIN ~ We chose the small flat noodles, which were a little bit wider than fettuccini noodles. The lamb was soft, tender, and tasty though a bit gamey, but that was to be expected. They gave us a lot of veggies in this too! I only had a few bites and had to take the rest home. 5/5 This is a great place to have a casual meal with enough to take something home too. Leftovers are appreciated these days! Many restaurants don't give enough food and overcharge you. This place is different. You get a great meal and have lunch or dinner for tomorrow too! Loooove that!!! Now, I'm a fan too!!!

Yelp
I've been to this gem multiple times, and it never disappoints. The hand-pulled noodles are consistently top-notch, cooked to perfection every single time. If you're in the mood for something soupy, the Langzhou beef noodle with pickled vegetables is a must-try. But my personal favorite? The spicy ground pork dry noodles with regular round noodles. The chewy texture and perfect dough ratio are just right! For those who prefer a bit more dough and chew in their soup noodles, the small flat noodles are the way to go. The spicy wontons and sliced spicy beef are great appetizers and are worth a try. Service here is always attentive and efficient, making every visit a pleasure. Overall, a no fuss, well-run place that I highly recommend!

Yelp
This location is delicious compared to some of the other locations in the bay! The broth is more flavorful than the one I usually go to in Cupertino, but both are still really good! There's usually a small wait but tables move fast. I recommend trying the cucumber, the original lanzhou hand pulled noodles and the braised version as well.

Yelp
I had the pleasure of dining at Ox 9 Noodle in San Mateo and ordered the braised beef noodle--it was fantastic! The broth was incredibly rich and flavorful, perfectly complementing the tender, melt-in-your-mouth beef. The noodles had just the right chewiness, and the portion size was generous. The balance of spices and aromatics in the dish made every bite memorable. The staff was attentive and friendly, and the ambiance was cozy yet vibrant, making it a great spot for a satisfying meal. I'll definitely be coming back to try more dishes! Highly recommend it for noodle lovers!

Yelp
So glad I found this spot! I love Lanzhou handpulled noodles and this place really does it well. The noodles had a good texture and felt very fresh, and the broth was very flavorful. The portion size is also pretty good for the price!

Yelp
Hit the spot This place does beef noodle soup right. I got the one with pickled vegetables. Broth was flavorful. Noodles are fresh (and completely customizable). And portion was tooooo big, but I'm not complaining. We also shared some spicy wontons and pork/beef buns, although those were really outshined by the amazing noodle soups

Yelp
These noodles literally send me straight into a food coma everytime. They are so filling and delicious! Felt like they have healed me. I will say the wait here is always super long though. I came here Sunday morning and there was 10 people in front of us. Friday/Saturday evenings always has a long line out the door. I usually order take out instead since it's a lot faster.

Yelp
- sesame cold noodles - 3/5. - lanzhou house special with regular round - comforting flavorful clear broth with a spoon of chili oil. they have more chili sauce at the table if you want it more spicy. Round noodles are good but very doughy which is the style. 4/5 - beef stew with pickled veges and knife cut. Flavorful broth. Beef is tender. Good amount of everything. knife cut noodles were very fresh 4/5.
