Ox and Finch

"Run like a well-oiled machine, this is a hugely likeable bistro with a rustic edge thanks to its tile-backed open kitchen and wines displayed in a huge metal cage. The Mediterranean dishes are big enough for sharing and showcase skilful use of simple ingredients, with the flavours really shining through. The appeal of the cooking is enhanced by its fantastic value for money, with delicious dishes like tubetti with brown butter, peas and guanciale an absolute steal." - Michelin Inspector

The small plates concept at Ox and Finch is a great way to survey an array of dishes off of their sumptuous menu. The whipped roe was bright, creamy, and decadent. The ox tongue, rich and tender, also stood out as a stellar dish.

Google
Food was good, not amazing comparing it to all the rest of restaurants we’ve been to in Scotland. But it was tasty. It is good they have somehow of a Spanish tapas concept, so you can try more of their dishes or you can share. The service was pretty fast, nice staff, eager to help. The restaurant was full, so be sure to make a reservation as we did, so you can have a smooth experience. What I disliked most was the very annoying noise, of people beind too loud and plates

Google
Amazing food! Generous dishes. We had the skate wing, blade of beef, gnocchi was delicious. Great service. They found us a table even though the website said fully booked.

We had a lovely dinner here, we tried the cod, monkfish, pesto gnocchi, beetroot yogurt, burrata. All of them was delicious. We also loved the atmosphere. This is a place I'd like to revisit whenever I'm back in Glasgow!

Deserving every one of its 5 stars, Ox&Finch serves (large) tapas style dishes, each one drawing from chef/patron Jonathan MacDonalds background as a F1 chef with worldwide travel serving as his inspiration. Each dish has its own identity and taste and the menu is diverse, interesting and unique. Our dishes ranged from cod cheeks to skate to beef tartare to slow cooked feather blade of beef. Each dish a revelation, each dish conversational. I had a Tavel rosé throughout which was as memorable as my food. Desserts were apple tarte tatin/blue cheese/prune jus and Affogato with a wonderful coffee/ gelato/remy martin combination that perfectly finished my culinary journey. I love this restaurant and it is a privilege to share in the dishes and the dream of someone who has created something very special. 👏 Shout out to Jim who did his best to describe a menu which is indescribably wonderful. Great service anyhow 👏

Google
I should have come here already in my last visits to Glasgow but unfortunately due sudden setbacks I didn’t had the chance to come before. I really like the concept which is similar to tapas, sharing dishes and good selection of wines and cocktails. We were three so we had the chance to order many different dishes except those with raw ingredients because my girlfriend is pregnant. Each dish were very simple to the sight but well balanced and dosed with a really good combinations of flavors. Fair prices and good service from all the staff

Google
My favourite place to eat in Glasgow. A wonderful welcoming team serving up beautifully presented small plates. The flavours are always punchy and zingy - exciting. The only problem is narrowing it down to ordering a "reasonably" amount as everything is so tasty! Thanks for the great times - we will see you soon!

Yelp
Good food is obvious; it announces itself with the first bite. Served tapas style, Ox and Finch's dishes are creative & marry harmonious flavor combinations. Add to that a reasonable price point, a casual, relaxed vibe, & efficient service, & dinner here is easily a five-star experience. Highly recommend trying: -- lemon & parsley olives (£4) -- fried artichokes, garlic yoghurt, & burnt aleppo butter (£7.50): my favorite dish of the evening -- buffalo mozzarella, cantaloupe, pistachio, & chili (£9) -- pan fried pork belly, apricot, & radicchio (£10) -- chips w/ garlic aioli (£3.95) -- apricot brandy semifreddo, amaretti, & poached apricots (£6) -- chocolate blancmange, malt cream, & salted honeycomb (£7) Notes on two dishes which were a hair shy of perfection: -- dry aged bavette with chimichurri (£14.50 for 200g) needed an outer crust to offset its tenderness -- flavor of ricotta gnocchi, pea puree, & pistachio pesto (£8.50) was sort of one noted; the only dish we didn't finish or take home. Locals & tourists alike know that Ox & Finch is a culinary gem; secure your spot with an advance online booking.

Yelp
One of the best places I ate at in Scotland. Made a reservation for lunch for four people beforehand and you must pay a small deposit. Indoor dining only. Even on a weekday at 12:30, the place was buzzing. Restrooms are on the bottom floor. Credit cards accepted. They have plenty of wine options and also have tap water. The ambiance is casual but it's a cute, airy spot. It's industrial looking with high ceilings and would be great for a date. Food-wise, we ordered the following: - Sourdough and butter - a classic start. A bit basic, but when when you're in the UK, you want to take advantage of being able to enjoy their dairy. - Whipped feta - my favorite part of the meal. This came with pita bread and the feta was nice and creamy. We ate the leftover feta with our other bread. - Skate wing - Skate is a fish (didn't know they before but you learn something new every day). It's a larger cut and good for a group that's hungry but still wants to be healthy. - Ricotta gnocchi: a table favorite. The sauce was so fresh and you could lick the plate clean. - Pan fried pork belly - not my favorite, but it was tender - Tender stem broccoli - a standard veggie dish that is on the smaller side - Green beans - I would highly recommend getting this. The mascarpone and the 'nduja elevated this dish. - Grilled ox tongue - it was very tender and was well offset by the pickled veggies

Yelp
Service was quick and kind. I have had this place bookmarked for years.... Really... pre-pandemic and finally made it. I was on my own in a Friday at open with no resos and they were able to accommodate me at the communal table close to the kitchen. I had the flatbread w the whipped feta, the cod cheeks and the beef tartare. The whipped feta with the honey and peppers was so flavourful: The beef tartare was over-seasoned and the chef took the feedback and prepped me another one which came out so much better. The cod cheeks were cooked perfectly and the chorizo that was paired with it worked so well with the dish. In other circumstances, I'd definitely come back w a larger party to try more things

Yelp
Selection abounds in small sizes, and fun in large sizes at Ox & Finch. My crew hadn't arrived to town yet so I was going solo. I was happy to see olives (not that anyone else cares) on the menu to accompany my lovely localish draft. Starting the theme for the afternoon, the olives had a citrusy taste that was unique. Second: beef tartare, which was amazing. Nice crunchy eggy combination made me wish this was more than a small plate. Third: sea trout (steelhead) was cooked medium (definitely not overdone) with a tempting sauce. I was sad my friends didn't attend and give me a reason to order 6x as many items since so much looked excellent--even the desserts. I'll return for a pre-meal meal I'm thinking later this week!

Yelp
Cant fault the menu, food or service all of which are excellent. However, if you do intend on eating here, treat it like an expedition to Antarctica as planning well in advice is necessary so as not to end up eating outside with inadequate heating at your al fresco wobbly table. Wear warm clothes.

Yelp
Just had an exquisite culinary journey at Ox and Finch! Every dish was a work of art, and the flavors were simply divine: * Green Olives with Lemon and Parsley Gremolata: A zesty, fresh start to our meal. * Whipped Feta with Banana Chili, Oregano, Honey, and Flatbread: Creamy feta paired perfectly with sweet and spicy notes. * Beef Tartare with Egg Yolk, Horseradish, and Croutons: A rich and balanced delicacy. * Poached Sea Trout with Braised Leeks and Trout Roe Beurre Blanc: Tender trout with a luxurious sauce. * Hazelnut Panna Cotta with Brown Butter and Sour Cherries: A decadent finish to an unforgettable dining experience. Ox and Finch is a must-visit for any foodie looking to indulge in gourmet perfection. #OxAndFinch #GourmetDining #FoodieHeaven #CulinaryArt

Yelp
Wow, what a dining experience! I've heard a lot of buzz about Ox and Finch, and after finally making the reservation, I can confirm it absolutely lives up to the hype. The space itself is really stylish and vibrant--cool, but still relaxed enough that you don't feel out of place if you're in casual clothes. The open kitchen setup adds a fun touch, and you can tell the chefs are really passionate about what they're doing. Now, onto the food. Everything was incredible. We went for the sharing plates, which is always a great way to experience a little bit of everything, and there wasn't a single dish we didn't love. The charred octopus was a standout--so tender and full of flavor, with a nice smokiness that really packed a punch. The crispy lamb belly was another highlight--perfectly crispy on the outside and melt-in-your-mouth soft on the inside. We also had the bone marrow with sourdough toast, and it was rich, decadent, and just the right amount of indulgent. The cocktail menu is another reason to visit. I tried the Smoked Negroni, and it was hands down one of the best I've had in ages--perfectly balanced with just the right amount of smokiness. The wine list is well-curated, and the staff were super knowledgeable about pairings, which I always appreciate. Service was spot-on--attentive without being overbearing. We never had to wait long for drinks or food, and they made sure we were comfortable the entire time. The only downside? It's not the cheapest place in town, but considering the quality and creativity of the food, it's totally worth the price. Definitely a place to visit if you're looking for something special, whether it's for a date night or a celebration. I'm already planning my next visit!

Yelp
This place has the skills to pay the bills! Michelin recommended and for good reason! The ambiance inside was great, the staff was friendly and food was delicious. The menu is divided up into smaller plates like apps and larger plates meant to be eaten as the main dish with some side options as well. It was more tapas style than typical entrees. Regardless, it was all delicious. The steak to the chicken confit to the lamb were all delicious. The whipped feta and Brussels were probably my two favorite apps that we ordered as well. There truly wasn't anything that I ordered that I didn't like

Yelp
exceptionally good food at a comparatively good price. Excellent service, and when not forced to sit outside a lovely vibrant unpretentious ambiance.

Yelp
Make sure you make a reservation. We tried to walk in, but the next available appointment was 9:30 pm. So we made a reservation for the following night at 9 pm. We enjoyed our dinner here. I like the concept of small dishes tapas style, so we could try a variety of dishes. The artichokes, beef tartare, and lamb shoulder were our favorites. The chocolate cremeux was delicious. It was a warm cozy ambiance. Definitely worth the visit.

Yelp
Dining here was a treat, with each small plate offering a unique and delectable taste. Among all the superb dishes, the tandoori cod and poached sea trout stood out as the clear favorites. The culinary skill and flavor combinations make this restaurant a top choice for a memorable meal.

Yelp
I was surprised at what a great quality Mediterranean meal we had here. The whipped feta was exactly the texture you'd hope - creamy and soft, with perfect spices. The lamb and beef tartare were juicy and savory. Plus, they actually made a great espresso! Didn't expect that at all, but it was a great apertif.

Yelp
Loved this meal!! Would highly recommend reservations here if you are struggling to decide. Our family of five (youngest 12) had 14 plates altogether and it was about 1-2 too many - the one I would have left off was the chicken thigh. The pea purée and pea accompaniments were good but the thigh was not terribly remarkable as compared to the Toulouse sausage (my favorite) and the rump fillet. The whipped feta plate was absolutely amazing and I would have like just a bit more flatbread or bread to act as a vessel as it was a large serving. This is after burning through two plates of the sourdough bread and butter! We also loved the burrata (sweet meets salty with a great crunch from the seeds) and Tubetti (both the vegetarian and bacon version). Our server was lovely and visited the table just enough. It's a bright space, busy and loud but not overwhelming. Loved it and wouldn't hesitate to come back next time we find ourselves in Glasgow where the dining opportunities seem to number in the thousands!!

Yelp

Yelp
My partner and I have been to Ox + Finch three times now over the past year. The first time we were absolutely surprised and impressed. Everything, including the service, food and drinks, were perfect. The second time everything was still pretty on par. However, some of our favorites lacked consistency - like the flatbread that comes with the whipped feta. Overall, we still enjoyed everything. We went back last night and were reminded of the first time we went. We finally were able to sit in the two-seater booth, which took the cake as our favorite seat. You're still in the middle of the busy restaurant but feel like you're in your own little world! We tried some of our usuals and some new dishes - flatbread was amazing once again! The slow-cooked lamb shoulder reminded me both in texture and taste (especially the crisped edges) of roasted pig/pork. I thoroughly enjoyed it with barley but could do without the salsa verde (which was a disappointing take on it, in my opinion). The one dish neither of us enjoyed was the poached hake - the flavors were a bit all over the place and some bits were very salty. The waiter noticed though and when we let him know he was kind enough to listen and take it off the bill. Each time we come, we stay for a couple of hours and never feel rushed. Service is always kind and thorough - you're never staring at dirty plates for a long time and service notes when something is amiss or when you need new napkins or utensils. Standouts: whipped feta, cod cheeks/chorizo, slow cooked lamb shoulder, ginger cake dessert (although I would have loved it with something colder than the creme fraiche, I stole some of my partner's semifreddo), drinks Definitely make a reservation, get a few dishes, take your time, and enjoy!!

Yelp
Amazing high quality food in a friendly unpretentious atmosphere. Excellent service. Small but good wine list.

Yelp
My lunch was fantastic. I loved the artichokes and the Grilled Coley, tandoori sauce, coconut and fennel

Sandra S.

Yelp
Clearly a popular spot - as it was very busy on a Sunday evening! The decor is trendy yet welcoming. Our server was extremely helpful as I have food allergies and she helped me navigate the menu. With her advice, we ordered five plates to share between two people - and it was plenty of food. We had the chicory/cheddar salad (good), charred hispi cabbage prepared the vegan way (excellent), dry aged rump fillet (excellent), lamb merguez sausage (good) and the charlotte potatoes (good). It was really nice to be able to sample such a wide variety of menu items. All in all, a nice way to end our trip to Scotland!

Lindsay W.

Yelp
Love the small plates so you can try many items. Bread and gnocchi were favorites! Angus was our server and very friendly and funny. Very popular so reserve in advance.

Yelp
Loved it! Went for lunch with my mum a little while back. We shared a load of different dishes, all of which were really nice. Very reasonably priced for the quality of the food. I don't eat meat so appreciated all the options for veggie and fish dishes. Would absolutely return!
google avatar

John T.

Yelp
Food is good and they are good at bussing tables. I love the small shareable plates concept and the food was tasty and well presented. However, the restaurant seems cheaply put together as every time the person on the other side of the barrier on the booth moved my wife was catapulted up! We waited 30 minutes to even get someone to pay enough attention to us to even ask for the check. I would go back, but I highly recommend that management train/retrain the front house staff.

Yelp
Our food and service was excellent. Our server Adam was great. He answered all of our questions about the menu and recommended several dishes. The restaurant was lovely and nicely decorated. A great experience overall.

Yelp
Visiting from NYC. Probably the best meal I've had in quite a while. I believe my waitress was Millie, everything was beyond good.

Yelp
Awesome lunch and great cocktails. We had the gnocchi and the chard greens, as well as the hummus which was phenomenal. Topped it off with tiramisu and a "boozy" affogado. Beautiful restaurant and great service as well!

May W.

Yelp
Very creative menu Seated at the high top communal table and loved watching the open kitchen. Staff was so friendly. What disappointed me most was watching the pastry chef prepare/plate the dessert and saw him lick his fingers and didn't wash his hands... then to my horror, I witnessed him spooning a sauce around a dessert and then lick the spoon and dunk it in his container of water without washing it off and then using it again for the next plating of a dessert!

Yelp
We kind of stumbled onto this place and got in late on a Tuesday night. We ordered chips with aioli, hummus, beef tartare, rump filet, and roasted cabbage and kale Caesar, and Harris gin and tonic. It was plenty of food to satisfy the both of us and there wasn't one dish we didn't love. I will definitely stop by again next time I'm in town!
google avatar

Stephanie S.

Yelp
The reviews brought me here and I am so grateful they did. A Michelin star restaurant that will leave you drooling for more after each plate. The hummus was delightful and the fries with garlic sauce were seriously the best I have ever eaten. We only stopped in for a snack and beer but I think back in regret not ordering more delicious food. The server was a sweet girl that had great timing, along with the rest of the staff being open and welcoming. Such delicious food and the ambience makes for an unforgettable experience.

Yelp
We had a fab lunch here and were super pleased with the veg options. The heirloom tomato and bread salad was by far our favorite closely followed by the buratta. Everything was super fresh and came out quite fast. The service was really nice and the atmosphere was charming.

Yelp
Wow, what a meal! We had dinner here last night and from start to finish were amazed by the quality of the food. We started with the blossom cocktail which was delicious and then shared 5 plates between the two of us, and 2 desserts as well, we just wanted to try it all! We chose the gnocchi, chips, lamb, mozzarella and pork belly followed by their tiramisu and lemon custard with strawberry sablé. All incredible. The tiramisu deserves an honourable mention, because I've tired plenty (read: many many many) of tiramisus but I've never had one THIS GOOD. Ox and Finch has to be my favourite restaurant in Glasgow. The staff, food and drinks are all incredible and it's reasonably priced too.

David G.

Yelp
We tried to call ahead but no answer. Walked in anyway without a booking. Warmly greeted and seated at one of two high tops. Food was fantastic. Great service and ambiance. The highlights were the whipped feta flatbread, poached hake, and the cabbage. We felt very fortunate to find this place. You won't be disappointed.

Yelp
Ox and Finch always delivers! Some new items on the menu and same quality as always. Nice atmosphere, attentive staff and overall a great experience. The scallops with pork and pea purée was my lick of the bunch.

David F.

Yelp
Mixed review, atmosphere is pleasant but simple. They sat me in the back at the least desirable table, perhaps because I was solo. Food was rushed. First item brought out almost immediately after I order. Second item came out soon after I finished the first. The third item came out before I finished the second. When I said "already?" The waitress responded "it comes out when it's ready" I replied that I was not ready. She took it away. I told her I'd like to order some more wine. I apologized if I had been unpleasant. Her response was there's a nice way to say it. I simply replied I was not ready when she said it comes out when it's ready. Her attitude was not pleasant. The other fellow who served me as fine. I always say thank you to the server, I'm not an entitled jerk. I watched the other tables, no one received their food as quickly as I did. Others who arrived before I did were still eating their main food when I was already done with dessert. On the food. The fried artichokes were very good. The duck liver parfait was tasty but the liver was too liquified. The lamb shoulder was too salty. The millfeuille was quite good

Nickie L.

Yelp
best meal in glasgow. wish we could order a whole bowl of the tiny pickles and peppers with the mortadella. the sausage with the mustard is so so so fantastic. and the tiramisu. was amazing. best tiramisu i've ever had in my whole life. whatever they do to the cream on top makes it so fluffy and melt in your mouth. i'd go all the way back to glasgow from nyc to eat at ox and finch.

Jan v.

Yelp
I regret that we didn't get the name of our server, because he was great. The food was really enjoyable (poached hake, tubetti, Toulouse sausage, smokies, confit, roasted carrots) as well as the wine (Côte du Rhône) and atmosphere. Very pleased with the experience and will be returning and recommending to others.

Kirsten S.

Yelp
Small plates were a lovely way to eat. We enjoyed every bite, especially the fried artichokes.

Yelp
Very nice restaurant! Good ambience, excellent food - had the Hake and the Cole and both were very good. Service was fantastic.

Yelp
Great service and tapas! Loved the venison, cod cheeks, sour dough bread, and gnocchi too. The very chocolate tart with raspberry sorbet was outstanding!!

Yelp
My friend and I are in Glasgow for tour and this place is so close to our hotel...what an amazing surprise :) The food is outstanding!! We're going to come back after our show for a couple of their beautiful cocktails. Cheers!

Yelp
This was one of the best meals of our trip. The service was great and they were well informed and accommodating of my allergies. Delicious!!

Yelp
Amazing!! Everything was Amazing- the cocktails, food and service. Highly recommend. A great way to spend a rainy Scotland afternoon with great food, drinks and service.

Yelp
I was actually feeling like a traditional Scottish meal before the end of our Scottish road trip but the boyfriend wanted something less heavy and so I thought lets try the Ox and Finch then. We did and were impressed at first sight. When the plate of our beetroot hummus came I was immediately charmed by its beautiful arrangement with a play of the different coloured chicory leaves. Of course, it tasted great too, light and refreshing perfect for a summer day. The next three dishes that came were different but equally beautiful and even more delicious. We had two more vegetarians : buffalo mozzarella and their special grilled aubergine and the venison carpaccio. The mozzarella was lovely but the aubergine and venison was wow - a perfect dance of flavours in every bite. Being Thai, I'm biased towards the Thai style grilled eggplant salad but this aubergine with its spicy Harrissa and dukkah is surely second to none. I wish I could write about one kid the beautiful desserts but we didn't have time - definitely next time when I'm in town. So that was the splendid food. Ambience? The perfect place for the food. Great for a date night and definitely for a good night out with friends so you can order many of these fantastic creations on a place to share. The Ox and Finch is very likely one of those restaurants that help to make Glasgow such a great place for food.

Irene M.

Yelp
Amazing restaurant...we are here visiting from Las Vegas and all I can say is WOW!!! This is a must when visiting Glasgow

Ee D.

Yelp
Good food and drinks but the food all came too fast. So we didn't get to enjoy it slowly. We had time limit so that is why we had to quickly eat and go..

Yelp
This was one of the best meals we had on our 10-day trip through Ireland and Scotland. I highly recommend this Michelin Star Restaurant if you enjoy sharing plates with others. For a party of 4 we shared 11 small plates. All of us left completely satisfied. The service is excellent and the flavors of the food and drinks are unique and worldly-feeling. there is an eclectic menu with something for everyone. The pomegranate negroni is delicious. We absolutely loved this meal and the restaurant itself is very comfortable and uniquely decorated.

Lanxin J.

Yelp
Great steak and red wine! But the menu is changing, so we didn't be able to get everything we wanted.

Yelp
As soon as we arrived (5PM) we were seated and reminded that our table need to be flipped at 6:30PM. Cool, not really an issue since it's not a coursed meal place. The restaurant was completely full and people really seemed to be enjoying themselves. Jordan and I ordered beers and then checked out the menu. Once our server came back to the table we ordered: *Smoked Ham Hock & Cheddar Croquettes - similar to mozzarella sticks except that they were little balls filled with ham and cheddar. They didn't come with a dipping sauce but they honestly didn't need one because the cheese was still runny inside. I enjoyed them a little more than Jordan did, but we both liked them! *Duck Fat Chips with Roasted Garlic Aioli - Wow! I wanted to ask if they could give me some of the garlic aioli to take home with us - it was THAT good. The fries were standard UK fries, more like American steak fries, but the aioli is what made them. It was the perfect amount of garlic. I love garlic. *Spiced Scallops with Chana Del, Pickled Cucumber, and Yoghurt - I'm not sure how Jordan has managed to make me fall in love with scallops but he has. These were cooked perfectly, not too soggy, and not overcooked, and the chana del (chickpeas or lentils that are pureed) was a great combination with the pickled cucumber and yoghurt. All of the flavors came together beautifully and the textures were fabulous! *Buffalo Mozzarella, Fig, Mint, Prosciutto and 8 Year Aged Balsamic - Hands down, this was our favorite item we ordered. It was a slight fight to see which one of us ate the last bite. Jordan's a gentleman and let me have it. We're both suckers for buffalo mozzarella, and then to combine it with fresh figs, mint, prosciutto, and balsamic. It really doesn't get any better than that! We contemplated ordering another plate of this because it was THAT good! *Gin and Beetroot Cured Salmon, Celeriac Remoulade and Wasabi - Jordan ate the majority of this dish. I had a bite initially but wasn't 100% sold on the gin taste of it. It seemed to be their version of sashimi. It was good but we both agreed we probably wouldn't try it again so we could have something else instead. *Pineapple Carpaccio, Coconut Ice Cream, Tarragon & Lime - This was our first dessert of the evening. Being a lover of pineapples I couldn't wait to try this one out. The presentation of the food was stunning; we almost didn't want to eat it. Don't worry, we did! :) The coconut ice cream was my favorite part of it surprisingly. Surprisingly there wasn't a ton of pineapple in the dish which was a tad disappointing. Next time we go I'm trying the peanut butter dessert! By the time we finished dessert and our beers it was 6:15PM so we paid the bill and were on our way. I plan to take my Mom there when she visits. Some of the food might freak her out but it's all fresh, prepared to the highest standards, and presented beautifully. She'll love it!

Yelp
I'm not sure why I didn't review Ox and Finch after my first visit but I'm not going to let the praise rain down after my second visit. It is rare to find a restaurant in Glasgow that lives up to the hype but Ox and Finch does not disappoint. Not only is the food amazing, but the service is outstanding. I really wanted to take my husband after my first visit; they do have highchairs, but we found a babysitter so we could actually enjoy our meal without worrying about little diners. We'd both been to the original Street Food Cartel event that the people behind Ox and Finch helped originate so we were excited to dine with them again. The menu at Ox and Finch is seasonal and changes throughout the year so while I would have ordered pretty much everything I ate on my first visit that wasn't an option and that's okay because it meant I got to try things I probably wouldn't have otherwise. We ordered the Smoked Ham Hock & Cheddar croquettes, Crab & Crayfish cocktail with Avocado, Thai Yellow Curry Duck, Confit Hogget Shoulder with Israeli Cous Cous and Heritage Carrots with Barrel Aged Feta. All your plates come up as they are ready, tapas style. The croquettes came out first and were so tasty--they weren't heavy or greasy and while we kept saying we weren't going to eat them all for fear of filling up we totally did. Next came the Crayfish and Crab cocktail--I was really excited for this as it seemed to be a reinterpretation of my favourite dish from my first visit. It did not disappoint. My husband isn't a fan of shellfish and even he dug in! There was a sort of crunchy, crumbled prawn cracker dust under the cocktail that was a really nice addition of texture and salt. I wasn't that amped for the Hogget, lamb isn't my thing but my husband all but licked the plate. That said for me the Israeli Cous Cous, pomegranate and tahini yogurt was an absolutely delicious combination. I know if my husband were to return and it was still on the menu he'd order this in a heartbeat. The duck curry again was not something I'd traditionally go for but it was the most amazing coconut-curry flavour and the duck skin was super crispy. I'd never seen rice formed in to a rectangle and fried before but it paired really nicely with the sweet curry sauce. At this point I should point out how AMAZING our waitress was. I'd asked if there was coriander in curry as I'm allergic. I said it's no big deal if it was I just wouldn't eat the curry. She came back to let us know that there was coriander as a garnish so they'd leave it off. When our heritage carrots came out she let us know she'd asked for the walnut dukkah on the side because it has coriander seed in it and she wasn't sure if I was allergic to the seed as well as the leaf (I am). I never would have thought there might be coriander in that dish so it is fantastic to me that she thought laterally and went to the extra effort to make sure I was okay. Thank goodness she did because OMG that feta--I could eat it every day. I know that sounds bizarre but I love feta and I don't know where they source it from but it is AMAZING. We were playing with the idea of dessert but in all honesty we probably ordered one dish too many already so we skipped it in the end. The value for money in my opinion is outstanding when you consider the quality of the food, unique dishes and fantastic service. I don't know when I'll be back in Glasgow again (sadface) but I will be stopping at Ox and Finch the next time I am!

We went to Ox & Finch last night for a friend's birthday meal and it was excellent. Every single thing I tried was delicious! Friendly staff, too. Yep, a top notch experience last night!

Yelp
Went here yesterday with friends from work for lunch after hearing numerous good things. Safe to say I wasn't dissapointed, an amazing lunch! Having been told it's popular, I booked ahead (and I'd reccomend it, it got very busy!) The restaurant itself isn't on the large side, but there is still quite a few tables. Kitchen is open planned so you can see the food being prepared. The food is served tapas style, which is great as you can try a lot of different dishes, and there's so many fantastic dishes it's reccomended. We were a group of 5 so had 2 of the snacks to start then 8 of the tapas dishes. I won't list all of them but I'll pay special mention to a couple. The braised ox cheek was absolutely incredible, very tender, served with creamed celeriac and red cabbage. The Chinese cabbage with sausage was also incredible, best cabbage dish I've had by miles. Desserts weren't shared, but everyone had their own! The peanut butter and spiced apple mille feuile was incredible, very large portion for the price as well. They do have a great drinks selection on offer too, as it was lunch I only opted for the 2/3 pint of the organic lager. It was very nice though, would have again. Service was excellent as well, server was great at advising us on how to order with a few reccomendations. Very quick at serving us too for a busy lunch. One thing to note is the dishes come out as they are made, which isn't a problem if you're sharing like we did, as everyone as trying dishes as they come. Overall this was one of the best lunches I've had in Glasgow and will be back very soon.
