Oxygen Jungle Villas

"The final part of your journey to Oxygen Jungle Villas—on two miles of bone-jarring gravel marked "4x4 only"—resembles a rite of passage, but initiation brings profound rewards: 12 teak-and-glass villas overlooking the Pacific from a private mountaintop jungle preserve. The glass-walled accommodations use a clever interplay of jungle, bamboo screens, and curtains to allow guests to withdraw from the world in airy privacy. In fact, although nothing at this couples-only resort enforces retreat—there are no silence gardens or scheduled meditations—stepping out of the everyday world is the clear goal here. The hotel’s lack of telephones, room service, and many classic amenities enhances its secluded setting—although the five-course work of art served as dinner may well define a new type of amenity. You will likely see only the same two staffers during your stay, but their deft and relaxed expertise need no improving on. Balinese design elements—a finely carved couch by the pool, elegant bangles on the sun umbrellas—are wrapped in a sleek shell almost spartan in its refinement, with few fussy details to divert from the pursuit of inner peace. A dip in the green stone-lined infinity pool, bordered by statues of the Buddha, is an act of meditation in itself."

Oxygen Jungle Villas, Near Uvita, Costa Rica - Explore & Book

"Nestled in the rainforest, overlooking the spectacular Playa Uvita on Costa Rica's southern Pacific coast, this adults-only resort is a relaxing haven that's perfectly suited to honeymooners and nature lovers alike. Named 'Oxygen' because the owners felt they had finally found a place to breathe, it's located in one of the most biologically diverse regions in the world - within an hour of arrival we were marveling at toucans, hummingbirds and iridescent blue butterflies flitting among the colourful nectar-rich flowers in the beautifully maintained gardens.Enclosed in glass, the 12 standalone guest villas blend the inside and outside worlds. The feel is luxurious, with blissful beds, sofas and rain showers, but you're never far from the sights and sounds of the jungle. There's also a laid-back restaurant and bar overlooking the aquamarine infinity pool, plus a spa that specialises in couples' massages. It’s hard to tear yourself away, but try: the stunning Marino Ballena National Park is nearby, with world-class whale-watching, snorkelling and exhilarating zip-lining. There are also gentle hiking trails within the hotel grounds, complete with waterfalls and swimming holes. Highs The perfect mix of comfort and nature. We loved lounging in our canopied kingsize bed, watching the jungle come to life outside With just 12 villas and a secluded location, the vibe is intimate and romanticBeautiful ocean views from the infinity pool and restaurant - best appreciated over a passionfruit daiquiri and the hotel's signature guacamoleJust a 20-minute drive from the Marino Ballena National Park, with its beautiful Uvita beach (shaped like a whale's tail), mangroves and coralsThe chance to spot wildlife (toucans, howler monkeys, even sloths) from your villa; some have private hummingbird gardens, too Lows Roads hereabouts are bumpy, and a 4x4 is necessary if you want to fully explore - though transfers and tours can be arranged through the hotel Breakfast isn't included in the room rateSome restaurant dishes are more inspired than others, and other eateries are a drive away if you fancy a changeFull pre-payment is required for some peak-season bookings" - Catherine Thompson

Oxygen Jungle Villas | Best places to stay in Costa Rica

"Close to modish Uvita village – a low-key, beach-and-rainforest alternative to nearby, tourist-busy Manuel Antonio – this hillside eyrie offers a sense of romantic wilderness isolation with restaurants and bars on the doorstep. Glass-walled villas dominated by huge four-posters sit in secluded forest groves on a hillside in lush semi-wild rainforest. Light floods into the rooms and the villa fronts are faced with al fresco terraces, poised to catch views of the setting sun as it drops over pristine jungle to the distant Pacific Ocean. Suites have private plunge pools; there’s a spa set next to a tinkling stream and a wealth of wildlife and light adventure tours (horse-back riding on the beaches, whale watching, zip-lining and jungle hikes). Recommend! From the moment we arrived, everything about our stay was exceptional. The staff was incredibly welcoming and professional, making us feel right at home. The room was spotless, beautifully decorated, and equipped with all the amenities we needed for a comfortable stay. The location was perfect—close to everything yet peaceful and quiet at night. We especially appreciated the delicious breakfast each morning and the attention to detail throughout the property. We can’t say enough good things about this hotel. Whether you’re traveling for business or leisure, this place is a gem. We’ll definitely be coming back!

Amazing stay. The view from the room was gorgeous and we could hear toucans singing in the mornings and evenings. The same view can be found in the infinity pool, which was super relaxing. Staff is helpful and friendly, they even arranged a yoga mat. Can also recommend the spa treatment! I realize I mostly took pictures of the food and with good reason, the food was among the most refined and tasteful dishes we had during our stay in Costa Rica. I also appreciated that there were enough vegetarian alternatives on the menu.

Beautiful resort in a gorgeous setting. The staff is all phenomenal. They have great excursion options, the restaurant food and bar drinks are all delicious. They have a happy hour as well for drinks. We did the waterfall repelling tour and would do it again in a heartbeat. We also did a couples massage at the spa that was really nice. ||The downsides of this place is that it's tiny, and it's high in the mountain. There isn't much to do on site besides sit by the pool (which is right next to the bar/restaurant/front desk) or hike through the jungle. It's also a little pricy considering the lack of amenities and that you have to have a taxi or rental car to get up and down the mountain. The front desk is great about arranging transportation, however. ||Overall, it's perfect if you want something cozy and romantic and dont mind plunking down some money for a special vacation. My husband is the type that doesn't like to sit still for too long though and we prefer a place with more variety on-site.

Oxygen Jungle Villas is incredible! You amor Oxygen & the lovely team they have there!||The room was so beautiful and tranquil. Very private; we got the spa jungle villa.||Everything we ate at the restaurant was delicious! The massages were amazing! They keep it so clean and very well maintained. The entire team is amazing!||Mauricio was fantastic! We opted to not rent a car and paid for a ride to and from the airport, along with our excursions and a few nights eating away for dinner. We were blessed to have Mauricio for all of our day rides! Thank you, Mauricio!||For info: it was about $44 round trip for most of our rides. Rio Sierpe was like $180 and Quepos was like $250. For us, it was totally worth it! You can walk into town, but it's a big hill and we aren't in that kind of shape. We saw tons of people doing it, though.||Geisel is an absolute doll! Marco, Jason, Fiorella, Raquel, Kathy, Omar, Aaron & Valeria were all incredible! I am sorry if I missed someone! We can't wait to go back and see everyone again!||Pura Vida! Yo amor Uvita!||Hotel highlights|Luxury, Great view, Romantic, Quiet

Highly recommend this place for a spa day, you can hear the waterfall and get a fantastic spa treatment at the same time. Set in the middle of the jungle! I suggest trying the 5 senses massage/wrap. You get wrapped in banana leaves and get to experience all different types of oils during your massage (orange, chocolate, eucalyptus, lavender, etc). Great experience - if you do the spa day you also get a green smoothie and lunch. The view and services are spectacular.

If you’re coming to Uvita, Oxygen is a MUST stay. The staff was amazing, super helpful, friendly and accommodating. The location is beautiful and so are the villas. 1000% recommend getting a massage and booking the cocktail class. The food was amazing. The front desk also helps coordinate transportation as well as excursions which was super convenient. And our driver was also great at giving recommendations for places to go around town. We will definitely be back.

This place is amazing. We stayed here for a few nights and this is one of the memorable places. My wife didn’t want to leave this resort. While i went scuba diving to Cano island, she stayed by the pool and had one of the best massages (per her). Also, we booked a boat trip to Corcovado National park thru a resort. Everything was 5 stars. It is very short drive from Uvita
