Oxygen Jungle Villas

"The final part of your journey to Oxygen Jungle Villas—on two miles of bone-jarring gravel marked "4x4 only"—resembles a rite of passage, but initiation brings profound rewards: 12 teak-and-glass villas overlooking the Pacific from a private mountaintop jungle preserve. The glass-walled accommodations use a clever interplay of jungle, bamboo screens, and curtains to allow guests to withdraw from the world in airy privacy. In fact, although nothing at this couples-only resort enforces retreat—there are no silence gardens or scheduled meditations—stepping out of the everyday world is the clear goal here. The hotel’s lack of telephones, room service, and many classic amenities enhances its secluded setting—although the five-course work of art served as dinner may well define a new type of amenity. You will likely see only the same two staffers during your stay, but their deft and relaxed expertise need no improving on. Balinese design elements—a finely carved couch by the pool, elegant bangles on the sun umbrellas—are wrapped in a sleek shell almost spartan in its refinement, with few fussy details to divert from the pursuit of inner peace. A dip in the green stone-lined infinity pool, bordered by statues of the Buddha, is an act of meditation in itself."

Oxygen Jungle Villas, Near Uvita, Costa Rica - Explore & Book

"Nestled in the rainforest, overlooking the spectacular Playa Uvita on Costa Rica's southern Pacific coast, this adults-only resort is a relaxing haven that's perfectly suited to honeymooners and nature lovers alike. Named 'Oxygen' because the owners felt they had finally found a place to breathe, it's located in one of the most biologically diverse regions in the world - within an hour of arrival we were marveling at toucans, hummingbirds and iridescent blue butterflies flitting among the colourful nectar-rich flowers in the beautifully maintained gardens.Enclosed in glass, the 12 standalone guest villas blend the inside and outside worlds. The feel is luxurious, with blissful beds, sofas and rain showers, but you're never far from the sights and sounds of the jungle. There's also a laid-back restaurant and bar overlooking the aquamarine infinity pool, plus a spa that specialises in couples' massages. It’s hard to tear yourself away, but try: the stunning Marino Ballena National Park is nearby, with world-class whale-watching, snorkelling and exhilarating zip-lining. There are also gentle hiking trails within the hotel grounds, complete with waterfalls and swimming holes. Highs The perfect mix of comfort and nature. We loved lounging in our canopied kingsize bed, watching the jungle come to life outside With just 12 villas and a secluded location, the vibe is intimate and romanticBeautiful ocean views from the infinity pool and restaurant - best appreciated over a passionfruit daiquiri and the hotel's signature guacamoleJust a 20-minute drive from the Marino Ballena National Park, with its beautiful Uvita beach (shaped like a whale's tail), mangroves and coralsThe chance to spot wildlife (toucans, howler monkeys, even sloths) from your villa; some have private hummingbird gardens, too Lows Roads hereabouts are bumpy, and a 4x4 is necessary if you want to fully explore - though transfers and tours can be arranged through the hotel Breakfast isn't included in the room rateSome restaurant dishes are more inspired than others, and other eateries are a drive away if you fancy a changeFull pre-payment is required for some peak-season bookings" - Catherine Thompson

Oxygen Jungle Villas | Best places to stay in Costa Rica

"Close to modish Uvita village – a low-key, beach-and-rainforest alternative to nearby, tourist-busy Manuel Antonio – this hillside eyrie offers a sense of romantic wilderness isolation with restaurants and bars on the doorstep. Glass-walled villas dominated by huge four-posters sit in secluded forest groves on a hillside in lush semi-wild rainforest. Light floods into the rooms and the villa fronts are faced with al fresco terraces, poised to catch views of the setting sun as it drops over pristine jungle to the distant Pacific Ocean. Suites have private plunge pools; there’s a spa set next to a tinkling stream and a wealth of wildlife and light adventure tours (horse-back riding on the beaches, whale watching, zip-lining and jungle hikes). Everything about our experience at oxygen jungle villas was spectacular. We decided to come during rainy season so anything could have happened... We had a glorious time. There are so many excursions that are still amazing.Even if it is drizzling or raining. The staff here makes you feel like family. Every meal was delicious, every beverage was perfect. The pool is so lovely. All of our rides and excursions were handled through the hotel, which all went so incredibly smooth. The spa day by the waterfall is highly recommended... Definitely, make sure to rent a 4 wheel vehicle If you decide to drive, and if you have not been here previously or are not familiar with Costa Rican roads. Make sure you come in the daylight for your first trip. We are already planning our next trip back. Thank you to everyone at Oxygen for helping us create such beautiful memories.

This was our second stop on our trip and we loved this pace from the moment we arrived. We arrived a little early and our room wasn’t quite ready but we headed to the bar and Marco sorted us out with welcome drinks. Pura Vida! We were made to feel very welcome by all the staff Hazel and Marco were very helpful. The room was amazing we had all sorts of birds and animals passing by the room. The food was out of this world! They have an infinity pool just by restaurant overlooking uvita it has stunning views. |They have a spa onsite to which we treated ourselves to a massage and was so relaxing. |They have a trail if you fancy a hike onsite it’s not to bad around 30 - 40 mins to complete. |The room in my opinion was superb glass on three sides so super light inside and you can watch nature come to you. |Thank you Oxygen for the wonderful stay we loved every minute! We will be back!

We stayed for a few days as the first stop on our honeymoon. It far exceeded our expectations and ticked all our boxes.||The villas themselves are beautiful. They have amazing views and you feel like you’re surrounded by the jungle. Well designed and extremely comfortable. We visited during rainy season and it was incredibly relaxing to watch the rain storms on the villa’s terrace.||The only point of improvement I could offer is that the toilet in the room is better designed to improve privacy for the user. The toilet is in its own cubicle in the bathroom half of the room, but doesn’t feel particularly private (the cubicle does have a closing door, unlike some modern hotels that just have it on show! But the walls of the cubicle don’t go all the way to the ceiling). However this is a minor concern and the rest of the hotel made up for it.||The food in the restaurant was exceptional. We ended up eating there every night because it was so delicious - something we hadn’t expected. The restaurant itself has amazing views and has been so well designed.||On our last day we discovered that there were trails around the property to the waterfall. We enjoyed trying one of these out.||The staff were all very friendly and gave us a fantastic welcome to Costa Rica.||I would be shocked if there was a better hotel in Uvita!

Recommend! From the moment we arrived, everything about our stay was exceptional. The staff was incredibly welcoming and professional, making us feel right at home. The room was spotless, beautifully decorated, and equipped with all the amenities we needed for a comfortable stay. The location was perfect—close to everything yet peaceful and quiet at night. We especially appreciated the delicious breakfast each morning and the attention to detail throughout the property. We can’t say enough good things about this hotel. Whether you’re traveling for business or leisure, this place is a gem. We’ll definitely be coming back!

Amazing stay. The view from the room was gorgeous and we could hear toucans singing in the mornings and evenings. The same view can be found in the infinity pool, which was super relaxing. Staff is helpful and friendly, they even arranged a yoga mat. Can also recommend the spa treatment! I realize I mostly took pictures of the food and with good reason, the food was among the most refined and tasteful dishes we had during our stay in Costa Rica. I also appreciated that there were enough vegetarian alternatives on the menu.

The eco-friendly and secluded adults-only resort was absolutely amazing. Every part of our stay exceeded our expectations. The staff consists of the most sincere and humble people. Each member of the staff who strive to make sure your stay is not only going well, but excellent! Every aspect of the stay was coordinated with help from the concierge who booked excursions, restaurants, and spa treatments that we enjoyed while staying in Utiva and surroundings areas. The quality of the food at the hotel restaurant was second to none, with a large variety of options and superb ingredients. The house keeping staff checked our room twice daily. Our belongings were organized, our bed was turned down and when we returned spotless. The O2 drivers made sure that we arrived safely to all excursions and were always there to assist. Some of our favorites from the restaurant included the hamburger, tacos and seafood pasta for lunch, and the beef tenderloin in a coffee cocoa reduction as well as the bbq ribs. Breakfast was also delicious. We enjoyed a daily variety of freshly squeezed juices, Costa Rican coffee and the abundant selection of fresh fruit every morning. The views from Villa Six were breathtaking, where you could see the outline of the jungle and enjoy the Pacific Ocean views from your bed when you woke up every morning. I cannot praise the resort or the staff enough for the care that we received while we were there. When we left I truly felt like I made new friends and familia I will cherish for years to come. Pure Vida truly was here and when visiting Costa Rica again…we will continue to stay at Oxygen each time!

My Wife Alexis and I stayed 6 nights at Oxygen during our honeymoon. We enjoyed the booking process as we worked with the Oxygen team to customize a resort package that included massages, private dinner at our villa, all inclusive meals, and a welcome bottle of champagne upon our entry into the villa with flower petals spread over the bed. |My birthday fell during our stay and my wife worked with the team to have the room set up with balloons, cake, and candles. |The vibe and the location was excellent and the villa was beautiful. We enjoyed coming into the room every time we entered. |One staff member in particular, Omar, was very friendly and made sure we were always taken care of. We enjoyed chatting with him daily. He also made sure our villa was decorated perfectly for pur private dinner at the villa.
