Oz Park

It's a nice place in a quiet neighborhood, great for walking around and relaxing with friends. Views are great experience with some parking spots avaliable if you're lucky. Playground doesn't allow dogs.

I did an in-home family session near Oz Park in June and it was the perfect location to go explore outside as a little break. Love the garden area so much!!

What an awesome park! I walked up here from downtown (on a scavenger hunt - a friend set me on an adventure to see a bunch of things). It was raining a little when I got there, and evening, so the park was near empty. I loved the Oz theme!!

Oz Park is a gem tucked into the neighborhood, and it has such a fun, whimsical energy the second you walk in. I loved spotting the Wizard of Oz character statues — especially the Tin Man Statue, which makes for an awesome photo op. The playground is big, clean, and clearly a hit with families. There are lots of little picnic areas and shady corners, perfect for slowing down with a snack or a book. Overall, it’s a cheerful spot that feels like a mini escape with a dash of storybook magic.

Oz Park is a little slice of the Land of Oz right smack dab in the middle of Chicago. Also: there are tennis courts, a playground, and a baseball diamond.

Oz Park is such a charming and fun place to visit, especially for families. The Wizard of Oz theme makes it unique, with statues of Dorothy, the Tin Man, and other characters adding a magical touch. The playground is well-maintained and perfect for kids, while adults can relax in the beautiful garden areas. It’s a lovely spot to enjoy a sunny afternoon or take a peaceful walk.

Great park! Wonderful playground with lots of fun climbing. Ball fields are large and well kept. Only downside is lack of a fieldhouse so only bathroom is a port a potty. Water fountain works though.

Oz Park is seriously so cute. It feels like a little hidden fairytale right in the city. The Wizard of Oz statues are adorable and instantly make you smile -- it's impossible not to stop for photos. The park is clean, peaceful, and has such a cozy neighborhood vibe. Whether you're walking around, sitting on a bench, or just enjoying the greenery, it's the perfect spot to slow down and enjoy the moment. A charming little escape that feels playful and relaxing at the same time.

Lovely park with beautiful statues. Play area looked great for small children. Lots of space to run around and courts available. Pretty park to see the leaves turn. Worth a visit. Not far from Lincoln Park Zoo.

As a classic movie nerd who allows a local history of this park was a blast to visit on a really nice summer day. Definitely go check out the different statues and tributes to all things Oz!

I randomly stumbled on this cool Wizard of the Oz themed park, and was on the hunt to find all the statues. I found most of them easily but the lion gave me a run for my money. They also have tennis courts, walking paths, and a theme playground for children to play. Pretty cool place to bring the kiddos/family for a day out.

Such an adorable park in the middle of the city. They have pickleball, volleyball, a jungle gym for the kids, and an adorable garden where I always see people enjoying a nice book in the grass. It's fun to try and find all of the wizard of oz statues placed around the park.

This is a cute little park that has a Wizard of Oz theme. You will find statues of characters from the timeless Lyman Frank Baum classic including the tin man, the cowardly lion, the scarecrow and Dorthy. There are not any statues of the evil witch or flying monkeys either. Outside of the statues, there is nothing else separating this park from any other park or adding to its Oz theme. You will not however, find a yellow brick road or anything that resembles one at the park. But the idea has been bounced around from time to time. The park spans about 14 acres and has 2 mediocre multi-use ball fields, 4 decent tennis courts, and a large playground named Dorothy's Playground. The playground was closed due to renovations during my visit, but it looked nice from the small part that I saw. You will also find port-a-potties and water fountains at the park. The park is well maintained and has a nice garden area where you will also happen to find the scare crow statue. There is street parking available within a reasonable walking distance, surrounding the park and there are also a few spots available on parking apps. That is what I used. The park has a bunch of benches, green space, a trees providing a bunch of shade. There is also a bike share kiosk and a nice paved path for walking, jogging and/or taking your four-legged friend for a stroll. You will find this park just outside of the hustle and bustle of downtown Chicago. I really liked it. It was a nice change of pace, is very relaxing and has a lot to do. It is right around the corner from the Lincoln Park Zoo and even though it may not have hit the threshold of a destination park, it is definitely worth a visit if you are in the area.

Another great find! Quality/Quantity - Tennis courts, pickle ball court, gardens, baseball field, batting cages, basketball court, cool art, etc. See pictures. Atmosphere - See above. Lincoln Park community. There are 4 statues around the park that we went out of our way to find; Dorothy, the tin man, the scarecrow, and the cowardly lion. 14.4 acres. Open 7 days a week from 6am to 11pm. Service - Self service. Price - Free. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 1976, we had a good time exploring and walking your park.

I probably would've never gone here on my own and I'm not super big on "The Wizard of Oz," but a couple family members talked me into going. I rolled my eyes at the time and figured it'd be a nice walk with both of our dogs. Meanwhile, I got there and I'm snapping pictures of all the statues, taking selfies, creating photo scenes poking our heads on each side of the statue. I had a whole photo shoot as someone who didn't want to go. Clearly, I had a good time. (My only critique is there is an area by the water fountain that was filled with mud when I got there. Not sure if there was a sewage issue that day, but I yanked my dog away when she looked like she was headed toward the ankle-high water fountain to drink. If it was clean, I'd have let her drink from it.)

If you are a wizard of oz fan this place is worth a quick stop! I wish they had a statue of the flying monkeys and the witch, but didn't see those. I was expecting the theme of the wizard of ox to carry out more throughout the park than just the few statues, but it's still cool.

Cute neighborhood park! The statues are fun and the playground is very old school and nostalgic. My 3 year old could've played all day going through the tunnels and down the slides. Not sure if there are accessible bathrooms so my son and I walked to the target across the street.

The park has its name in dedication of Lyman Frank Baum, who wrote The Wonderful Wizard of Oz while living in Chicago (his house location was just about 4 miles away from here). Scattered around the park are individual statues of Dorothy and the crew though the rest of the park is like a typical neighborhood one with recreational areas (tennis court, basketball court, baseball field, playground, etc.). As a tourist it was nice taking a stroll here but I might have had my expectations a bit too high as I went out of my way to get here. I can see this park being a great go-to community spot for locals though.

Oz park is great for families. There is street parking around the perimeter and the park is split in a way that is very organized and you can enjoy the day in different parts. They have sports fields, tennis courts, garden area, and playground. The playground is the old school wooden kind mixed with updated swing systems and slides and ropes. The Park has and ice cream shop across the street and is perfectly located in an area made shopping and leisure.

Lots of kids and dogs in the heart of the city..few wizard of oz statues which are nice to have in a park.Its a park district neighborhood park so its busy and well used but not a great area for walking. They have tennis courts and baseball and a playground.

If you are even somewhat interested in the Wizard of Oz, I think this is at least worth a quick stop to check out the statues. It seems like a really popular place to hang out as well.

I'm not a huge fan of The Wizard of Oz, but I really like this park. It's incredible that there's a city park with a movie theme to start with, not to mention such an iconic movie. It's a fairly big park as well, besides being unique and pleasant. My favorite piece is the statue of the cowardly Lion with his newly found Courage after receiving his medal from the seemingly fraudulent, but kind, Wizard. I don't know the artist, but they captured his courage and joy very well. Yellow brick, shmellow brick road-- skip the dangerous tornadoes of Kansas and the saturated color of Emerald City and go to the Lincoln Park neighborhood of Chicago, instead!

I will begin here. I love parks. I have been to this park once before, this was before I discovered Yelp. I do love this park, it has to be one of my two favorite parks. It is very relaxing here. This was the first time I visited this park during daytime, my last visit was at night. I do love taking all this park has to offer. Very clean park. The playground changed a little bit compared to my last visit. It looked amazing. I am glad they kept the garden section up, it provides a nice touch, definitely gives the wizard of oz vibes. The day was perfect for the visit. I will return soon.

Loved it!!! There is a lot to do, tennis courts and the new playground. Very well clean park. The Oz statues are something you got to see and can be fun to tell stories and break the ice with people when at the park. It really is a beautiful place.

OZ Park has been on my bucket list for awhile so I thought I'd check it out and since I was already at the LP Zoo, I thought I'd walk over to this park. The park is snugged away in the busy LP area. The park was larger than I had anticipated. I was able to locate the Dorothy and Toto statue right away. The park is divided into several areas with plenty of open spaces and sitting areas. As I was making my way around the park, I had walked past the fenced in children's area with various equipment to keep kids busy. From there, I continued my walk to check out more of the OZ statues. I had discovered the game area, which there were several adult social teams playing kick ball. That's right... kick ball. Again, there were plenty of open space for relaxation. Of all, OZ Park is a great fine and I would highly recommend checking out this park.

Pros: Great place to take your dog, play sports, take kiddos to the playground, or simply lounge around with friends. Very safe neighborhood. Cons: No proper bathroom, but at least they had porta potties.

Great park! Fairly large, it hosts several playground for kids. A few tennis courts, a couple baseball fields. Basketball courts and of course plenty of green grass fields and trees. There is a little enclosed garden area near Webster and Larrabee that has flowers and benches. Walking around the perimeter of the park you will come across the various statues of characters from the Wizard of Oz. Park also shares a border/park area with a local high school.

One of my favorite parks in the city! The Wizard of Oz was one of my favorite movies as a kid. I feel so special to live in the city that L. Frank Baum resided in when he wrote the book. In summer, the park has tons of large trees that offer a lot of shade from the sun. In winter, the wide open grassy areas gives my daughter room to run. There's a hill where we can catch a glimpse of the Sears tower downtown in the distance. We even caught a snowfall, and admired the falling snow from the top of the hill with the city surrounding us - it was a lovely serene moment and one of my favorite things about living here. There's an old school wooden playground, with a separate playset for little ones younger than 5. Each playset is fenced off, keeping kids safe from the road, and anyone biking the paved path in the park. My family particularly loves this wooden style playground more than the plastic ones closer to us because there's lots of cavernous areas to climb/crawl under, making it especially magical. I think L. Frank Baum would approve of this wonderful park.

Oz Park is a hidden treasure. Oz Park is a rather large park located in heart of the Lincoln Park neighborhood of Chicago. Its quirky character and flurry of activity make it one worth visiting. There's a bit of everything for everyone at Oz Park. There's a playground for kids to play at. There's a large garden that's perfect for bringing a book for an afternoon read. And there's softball fields and lots of green areas for a ton of roaming. Not to mention the statues that attract so many to this park. The statues are a bit spread out but rather easy to find. Finding each one is like finding a small treasure at a beach. 5/5. Absolutely love this place.

Very spacious! Great for children of all ages.. Nice thing is that have a section for toddlers that are younger Can get a little muddy after rain and also infested with mosquitos...But a little bug spray never hurt anyone

I'm docking a star because they didn't have a yellow brick road! ;-) Partially joking but this park is nothing special. It was fun to take a picture with all 4 statues but that was about it. I was pleased that Dorothy's statue did have ruby red shoes! That was a cute touch. There is nothing else to see at the park. A few swingsets for kids but that's about it. You can probably walk the perimeter in about 20 minutes so don't expect to spend too much time in the park. I would say just go and see the 4 statues. They are actually pretty good. The park isn't too far out of the way if you are in the city so if you have time it might be something worth checking out. As far as I can recall it's one of the only places I have been to that has anything to do with the Wizard of Oz.

What a cute park with an Oz movie theme. Just as you would guess this park would have, the movie characters (in statue form) are prominently displayed throughout. My husband and I saw Dorothy and cute little Toto, The Scarecrow, The Cowardly Lion and The Tin Man. There is also an emerald city garden and Dorothy's playground for your little ones to get some exercise. All that is missing is the yellow brick road (well the "brick road" in front of The Tin Man isn't yellow, but does have a little sign that calls it the brick road), the witch and those darn flying monkeys (cue the evil entrance music). Oh and also the wizard ("pay no attention to the man behind the curtain"). This park is dog friendly (too bad I didn't bring my dogs with my on this visit to Chicago). If I lived around the area, I would probably visit often. By the way, there is plenty of (free) street parking all around. Well worth the visit at least once.

I read about this park and had to find it .. who doesn't love Wizard of Oz. It was a good park but they definitely could add more stuff from Wizard of Oz .. there wasn't anything about the witch ..munchkins .. no yellow brick road. so hope they add more. On the perimeter of the park are the statue of Dorothy, the lion and Tin man .. the scarecrow is in the wooded area beside the garden. They have some thing besise each statue that you can use your phone to hear a voice recording but I didn't try that. The statues are cute and I am glad went. I was on my own and felt safe ... The park had a play area for kids, a flower area that had lots of butterflies, dragonflies and other bugs ...bug repellent would have been a good idea ... lots of people playing with kids and walking their dog.

So much fun. Turf grass soft and cushioned for my little one. Play area for littles 5 and older and bigger kids is separate. 6 infant swings. Lots of sliding boards. Left my stroller parked in stroller area and all of our uppababy , britax etc strollers still there after play! I really like this children's area.

We walked from the bus stop, through Oz Park, and to Lincoln Park Zoo. It was a really nice walk! Oz Park is really cool if you like the movie Wizard of Oz. It's a unique experience to see the characters in real life and learn a little history about the park and the statues. There's even a yellow brick road!!

Very cute park! I was very excited to bump into Oz Park. I have seen many of my fellow yelpers checking in to this and sharing pictures, but I never could make out where the location of this park was. The tin man statue stood right at the entrance and caught my attention first. I really wasn't aware of the tin man, cowardly lion and scarecrow statues until visiting. Only statue I was aware of was the Dorthy and toto statue which stands next to the playground inside of this park. This park has multiple activities that you can do, such as basketball, softball, tennis, football, soccer; visiting the community garden and also letting your children wear themselves out at the playground. Very nice park that anyone of any age can enjoy; plus having the Wizard of Oz character statues only adds more smiles, and cuteness to this park. Now that I know where this park is located, I will most definitely make it part of my normally bike route. Enjoy!

It's a beautiful park. The statues of the wizard of oz characters are really cool. Clean place with nice tennis courts and a garden you can walk through. Apparently there's no special reason why it's there but it's nice. I can imagine local residents enjoy it. I came as a tourist but it was a nice place to walk through and drink my coffee.

This quaint little park in Lincoln Park has many reasons to be a favorite of mine... Anyone can come to Oz Park to enjoy the park which celebrates "The Wizard of Oz" theme. Statues of the Tin Man, the Scarecrow, the Cowardly Lion and of course Dorothy and Toto are scattered around the area for people to admire and enjoy. "Dorothy's Play lot" is filled with play equipment for the little ones to climb, swing, and run. In the "Emerald Garden", families can enjoy a leisurely afternoon among the beautiful flowers. The park features tennis courts, ball fields, basketball courts, and soccer/football fields. A short walk from the subway and many bus lines.

AMAZING little park well worth a stroll through. Statues of the tin man, cowardly lion, scarecrow and Dorothy and Toto. On my Top 10 List of Unique Places to Visit in Chicago.

I've walked through Oz Park many, many times and had no idea how much it's regarded as a "hidden gem" that people go out of their way to visit in Chicago. Not that it's a bad park or anything, it's just weird to casually experience a particular park so many times and then later learn that it's a whimsical, magical destination for someone else! Oz Park has quite a bit to offer: plenty of foliage and colorful flowers in the spring and summer, large jungle gyms, basketball courts, and of course the giant statues of Wizard Of Oz characters. They occasionally do movie nights, and I ALWAYS see a ton of dogs. The park is even gorgeous when it's completely covered in snow during the winter, but definitely watch out for gigantic patches of ice. That's just a personal tip I'll give after a few slips and big butt bruises 0:). I love every inch of Lincoln Park, and it's sweet to know that such a beloved park lies within the neighborhood.

This is a fun neighborhood park just west of Lincoln Avenue at Webster. It is basically one huge block of grass with some trees. There is a small park district building that offers very few services, a basketball court, a little playground, and a makeshift jogging path. The best thing about the park is it's rather random devotion to its Wizard of Oz theme. There are abstracted chrome statues of the characters - which imply a story but does not really tell one. But for the kids - it is fun. And for the many dogs that come here for a run - it offers great spots for pee-mail. My favorite thing about this park is that there is a little mini mini Greek style amphitheater - seating maybe 50. This is a fun little venue for indie shows to perform - and for casual gatherings to read poetry or gather to speak.

My mom stuck me in drama class as a little girl. But they casted me as the tin man. Why couldn't she just put me in chorus instead? Lol. Ironically, years later, I came to Oz Park in search of the Tin Man statue. Let me tell you this place is like finding Waldo in a candycane factory. We asked 10 people and out of those, only 2 gave congruent directions. I guess it was a good thing because we incidentally ran into a woman in a 70's outfit and a banjo player who gave us a quick history of Chicago. Lol. The entire surrounding area had a really nostalgic feel about it. It was almost like stepping into a timewarp. Oz Park is a cute little park with a little playground area for the kids and plenty of walking grounds for strolling with ur dog or picnicking and gardens for smelling the flowers and frolicking (ehehehe). They not only have a giant Tin Man statue, but statues of the other key characters as well. We saw Dorothy and The Scarecrow.

My mom 1st took me here as a 8 year old child, and i was completely amazed by BIG, MYSTERIOUS, INCREDIBLE wooden jungle gym...I had soooo much fun playing on it! Now that im 21 and i came back here on my own with my friend I STILL LOVE IT lol seriously there is no other playground park around like this one!! oooh and the trees-soo pretty fun dog watching spot too hehe ps we came after dark

This is such a pretty little park that tends to get lots in a city with lots of lovely green spaces. I just happened to stroll by while visiting Chicago and I'm so glad I did! It's a nice place to sit and enjoy a cold soda while enjoying the fresh air and green grass. The landscaping is lovely and the Wizard of Oz statues are a bonus, making for excellent photo opportunities. If you are a Wizard of Oz fan, I'd highly recommend this park.

I love this park and walk through it every single day. The only downside is it's location right next to Lincoln Park High School- which leads to obnoxious teens scattered throughout the park during the day. The statues are really neat. The park is maintained, and has plenty of garbage cans. Dog friendly!!

Standard park. Statues of Dorothy/Toto, Scarecrow, Tinman, and the Lion (the latter 3 with their gifts from the Wizard) scattered around the perimeter of the park make it better than average. Oz things are a little bittersweet after I found out how L. Frank Baum called for the extermination of the Native Americans when he wrote editorials for a paper in South Dakota. But just ignore that for a bit and look at the plants and take a break from the day.

This is so cool, I was driving around and saw people taking pictures next to the tin man, and was like I need to go check that out so I made it a plan a couple weekends ago I took my baby here before going to the zoo, w had a great time walking around and talking pictures of the park and the Statues, we watched some guys and gals playing Hoops, and people playing with there kids and others with there Dogs and a few others like my self with Cameras Great park and it gets a lot of use I can see, we need to go back when the garden is in full bloom that sounds nice

Such a great park! I love the Cowardly Lion, The Scarecrow, and The Tinman statues. So cute how the garden area is called The Emerald City Gardens and the playground is called Dorothy's Playground. Great place to enjoy the flowers, have your kids play in the playground, or go for a walk, run, jog or bike ride.

It was a warm Indian Summer evening, and the park's beauty was enhanced by colorful falling leaves as I strolled peacefully along various paths. Without this changing autumn foliage, Oz Park seems much less remarkable. Every type of dog imaginable had come out to enjoy the fading warmth. The dogs were only outnumbered by their owners, both of which had gathered on a large, open field where the dogs playfully darted around their human obstacles. I stood watching, wishing I had a dog so I too had an excuse to join in the fun. As the center of the park best serves athletes and canines, I found the outskirts much more rewarding. I appreciated that each Wizard of Oz statue differed stylistically, each reflecting its immediate surroundings. I also found the small flower garden to be a lovely spot to relax, reflect, and enjoy a little piece of nature in this often overwhelming city.

Oz Park is a wonderful city park that offers many things we appreciate. It looked pretty well-kept. Maintenance was working on the baseball diamonds. There are many paths zig-zagging throughout the park to make it easy to get from point A to point B, or just make your walks/runs a little more interesting. There's a basketball court and tennis courts that seem to be in use a lot too. My son enjoyed the playground--castle themed with enough climbing bars to make it interesting for him. There's plenty of green space so we had a lot of room to play catch as well. The 4 Wizard of Oz statues were fun to find although Lion and Tin Man look like they could use some of that TLC they got at the spa in Oz. My favorite part is the Emerald Garden. It was blooming very nicely and was quite peaceful even though a couple was getting professional photos taken and a small family was picnicking. There are some benches too so if you need a quiet moment or moment, this would be a really pretty place for that.

this was a lovely park for a picnic. There were loads of dogs in the park and the statues were cool to check out as well. we had a great time. I think there was a PE class doing there class at that time as well. This was a fun stop and easy to park near.

Great OZ theme, beautiful Park with no "riff raff". Perfect place to take a family stroll. A similar Star Wars theme should be considered.

Let me start by saying that OZ Park is a beautiful park! But, we went to the playground a few days ago with our grandson. We decided to go sit down at the deck seating area, there were a few Nannies next to us, and they said "don't sit there "there are rat's" underneath the deck and they come up from the empty planters. I was horrified and couldn't believe what I had heard! So we moved onto the slide area, as I looked around, I seen a RAT! It was medium size. Again horrified! With all the decking in that playground and all the leaves to keep them rats warm, I fear, there could be hundreds of rats just in that play area alone!!! They need to remove the deck and clean out the RAT'S!!!!

I took my mom for a walk here on 5/27/17 at around 1pm since she loves The Wizard of Oz, but I found it underwhelming. The bronze sculptures are lovely, but, "Oh My" they are in desperate need of maintenance. The Emerald Garden is pretty with a few benches and Dorothy's Playground lends for lots of playtime for kids, but overall, after taking pictures with the four statues, we realized "there's no place like home", and didn't want to stay.....so this is a miss for me.
