A coworker and I dined here on a Tuesday evening while in town for a conference, and we were more than pleasantly surprised with the food, service and ambiance.
The ambiance is Japanese garden, very serene, yet trendy and chic. Both outdoor and indoor seating options looked incredibly inviting with just the right amount and tint of lighting. We opted to sit outside, and it was lovely.
Our server Victoria was friendly, knowledgeable, and provided great recommendations. From the beginning, she showed us how to navigate the menu and offered several suggestions based upon our preferences. She was fun and engaging, and food delivery and execution were all impeccable. We were shocked that this location had only been open 3 months, and Victoria had only been working here for a few weeks. Kudos on the training for all staff!
The food was absolutely the star of the show, with everything thoughtfully executed, from taste profiles to presentation. For cold appetizers, the Yuzu Hamachi was my favorite thing on the entire menu, the light fish balanced by the sweet and crunchy Nash pear, the miso and garlic chips giving the fish the flavor boost without overpowering.
For hot appetizers, we tried the wagyu gyoza, miso yaki sea bass, and grilled octopus. The gyoza dumplings were what you'd expect but tender wagyu made those dumplings melt in your mouth. The sea bass' yuzu buerre blanc was truly spectacular. I would be happy with this as my entree. The octopus surrounded a gorgeous yuzu foam with chili oil, umami with a kick.
For make mono, the truffle akami was tasty. The wagyu roll's presentation was gorgeous with caviar and gold flakes. Both were great but now everything we tried was competing for "most original" at this point. I don't think you could go wrong with any of their sushi.
I would be remiss to not mention my cocktail, the Okinawa Breeze. The colors, and origami crane on a gold float were so over the top beautiful.
For all of this food, I thought for sure our bill would be outrageous but it was in fact quite reasonable. We walked out still spending less than $100 per person with tip, and I felt like we ordered some expensive items fit for a queen and were treated like royalty. I now would like to figure out how to eat here as often as possible, and open one in my home state.
