Baconfest to feature ramen from Reddit-famous Ramen_Lord | Eater Chicago

"Now in its 11th year (April 5–6, 2019), this well-organized annual food event brings together several of Chicago’s top restaurants to serve thousands of visitors unique, bacon-focused dishes and fosters friendly competition among chefs. For 2019 organizers added new programming, including a VIP pop-up on Friday featuring internet-famous chef Michael Satinover (aka “Ramen_Lord”), who will prepare 100–200 bowls of a decadent bacon-infused ramen: a tonkotsu broth enriched with bacon fat, melty sous-vide bacon that replaces chashu for a caramelized texture, and a smoky cured base from Nueske’s applewood-smoked bacon, served with noodles from Sun Noodles. The VIP-only offering (a key draw at the $130 VIP ticket level) and other new events are intended to add flair and incentive while the overall festival continues to generate buzz around its creative bacon-centric offerings." - Ashok Selvam

Annual festival to celebrate the fatness, the juicy, the flavorful bacon. Everything becomes better with bacon. Lots of stands, lots of vendors selling food items that have bacon in them. On a nice day, it is a good family event. Streets are closed, children can roam freely, while adults can walk around with a beer in one hand and a bacon on the stick on the other. A fun festival for all ages.

It was my first time going to this and it was pretty cool. A lot of unique things to eat and drink and it's all pretty much on theme. Most of the food was good it's state fair quality. They also have a bacon eating contest, pig calling and bands playing throughout the day

Get there early. This is a popular event that draws 75k in their 2 day event. So many great food stands with everything bacon. Such a great event, I highly recommend going. Many great shops in to to visit as well.

It was my first Bacon Fest experience. It was a beautiful day everyone we encourntered was welcoming and friendly. Although there was a nice variation of vendors, all the food we purchased was a miss, not flavorful and undercooked.

It was a bit sad to know, that so many pigs had to die for this festival. But alot of people did come out to support it and there was a live a band as well. Though I am TNR with aspca. This festival was bitter sweet. And alot of people did attend and enjoyed it. I stayed 10 minutes to take pics and left. As eerie as it was. I still had to share.

Bacon, lots of dogs and fun folks. Go to bacon fest. Parking was difficult, we paid $20.00 at a local parking garage who donated the money. While it's free to attend bacon fest it's not a cheap day. Wife and I spent about $200. No problems with the spend, it was a fun day.
