18 Best Restaurants and Bars on Capitol Hill | Eater DC

"This is a reliable pasta and pizza spot with especially generous hours open for breakfast, weekend brunch, weekday lunch, and dinner on Capitol Hill’s Lincoln Park. And how can you say no to the fried eggplant burrata and a glass of San Giovese on the patio overlooking the park?" - Tierney Plumb

Google
This was my first time to DC and I can say this place set the bar high for food I will be looking for in future visits to the city. I love chicken piccata but it wasn’t on the menu, they were able to make it for me anyways! My girlfriend had the salmon special and it was hands down the biggest piece of fish I have seen served at a restaurant. Along with the great food, the restaurant has a very warm and comfortable feel almost like you are having a home cooked meal. Highly recommend!

Google
Best best 6-star Italian restaurant! Still dreaming about that tomato bread — forgot what it's called but it was juicy, fresh, and packed with flavour. Can't forget my first bite!! The Margherita pizza was perfectly crunchy on the outside, soft inside, and so well balanced. Tiramisu? Absolutely wonderful—not too sweet, just how I like it. And the pasta in Marsala wine sauce? Wow. Rich, comforting, and full of depth. Can’t wait to go back!

Google
Very yummy! The lemon chicken pasta was way too lemony for me so I ended up getting a margarita pizza and it was delicious.

Google
Holy crap. I thought good food and service were dead but Pacci's off Lincoln Park in DC just blew my socks off. Every asoect nailed it. A/C blowimg like mad. Hubs is so damn hard to please and he LOVED it. Only complaint? He wanted a heavier scotch glass. I even ordered desert. I never order desert. That strawberry was perfect.

Google
First time at this location(usually go to the one in Silver Spring) and the DC Location is a definitely smaller but very cozy! Our waiter was nice & accommodating & all the staff was just wonderful.. food was so good!! Fresh & hot

Google
If I could give more than 5 stars, I would! Starting from the appetizer to entrees, every bite was better than the one prior. I loved the Wild Boar Pasta, the pizza Capricciosa (+Neapolitan salami), the calamari…well, all of them. The service was great as well, friendly and attentive staff. This restaurant will exceed your expectations and your taste buds will thank you.

Google
This place is great in every way. Great service, and most importantly, very tasty food!!! I recommend it. the most delicious sangria, better than in Italy :))

Google
5/5 Stars! The best Italian food in the Capital Hill neighborhood, and some of the best in the city! A fantastic neighborhood spot, the wine, pasta, and appetizer are all delicious. Highly recommend the Caprese, and don't even think about skipping dessert, the Tiramisu is a must have!! The price is very fair, and love the fact that they do NOT add any other "services charges" we are seeing nowadays. Will be making this our new neighborhood spot to go, whether it's for a date night or to take the whole family!

Yelp
Went for lunch on a quiet New Year's Eve day in Capitol Hill. Exactly what the area needs, a neighborhoody vibe with great Italian food, excellent atmosphere, and friendly service. We ordered the Tuscan ravioli and a pizza and both were fantastic. Bravo Pacci, look forward to becoming regulars!

Yelp
I went to Pacci for the first time with an organization I'm part of. I unfortunately arrived late due to differing circumstances. One thing I've noticed was that the online menu was very different than the physical menu at the restaurant, which threw me off because I told my colleagues to place an order for me. Luckily, I was able to stop my order from being placed & waited until I got there for my main. I finally arrived & placed my entree order. The dish itself was pretty decent but not the best I've ever had unfortunately. The Octopus (appetizer), while a little pricey, had no dressing for the side salad that came with it. Just a lemon wedge. I found it to be odd. The chicken & mushroom (I think Chicken Marsala) dish was okay too, but not impressive. I will say that it was very filling & I took the other half home. The tiramasu is fantastic & I'd definitely order it again. I wouldn't mind exploring the menu again & the ambiance especially upstairs, seem to be that of a date night. It's not loud so that's good. I am unsure if the restaurant is metro accessible.

Yelp
Amazing dinner! Service was great, the place is super cute (and maybe larger than I realize?), and the meal was delicious. Started with the beet salad that was really good and refreshing. The bruschetta was fantastic, a classic. I ordered the gnocchi and it was the table's favorite. Wow, soooo good. The flavor, the texture...dare I say the best gnocchi I've had? Definitely want to go back and try other dishes.

Yelp
Good food and nice service. I recommend it. Everything was great. The location of the restaurant is convenient as well.

Yelp
The lemon chicken was outstanding, great service as well made the evening a hit. Thank you

Yelp
Ambiance was stellar. Reminded us of Amsterdam. Service was friendly & very helpful. The FOOD was great. We voted the homemade lemon cake was the best we've ever had. The pizza was super too!

Yelp
- not that busy on a warm Saturday night - waiter was nice, I think he tried a little too hard tho - goos spaghetti - decent size - big meatballs - I regret not getting the boar - desserts look good - great for pleasant group dinners and meetups - soft vibes - cool outdoor seating

Yelp
Two visits here. Both were great experiences while sitting at the bar. Today, I had the Pacci Salad, Spaghetti with Meatballs, and Chocolate Cake. Before this, I also had the Pacci Salad, Wild Boar Tagliatelle, and the Limoncello Cake. Great meals...all three courses were superb. I'm a big fan of their Paccie Salad. Lots of good ingredients. I like the Wild Boar best of all on the menu. The Spaghetti and Meatballs were tasty. The meatballs were especially good. ** As a tip, most dishes come with the Parmesan cheese already on top. I'm not a big fan of this, so this time, I asked for it on the side. That's now my go-to ask. Great desserts here. The Mousse and Limoncello Cake are fantastic. The Chocolate Cake was good. All of them are really enormous. Such a good spot. Definitely give them a try.

Yelp
Good ole Yelp helped me find this restaurant. My friend really wanted to go to Olive Garden, so I did her one better and chose this authentic Italian restaurant. It is definitely a neighborhood spot and it was busy the entire time we were there. I was able to make a reservation same day in the afternoon. The food was amazing. Service was stellar. I will definitely come back &&&& happy hour is 2:30-5:30 Tuesday - Friday! Love that start time - it keeps teachers and WFH people in mind. Not to mention people who want to eat dinner before it's pitch black out!

Yelp
We went here for the first time last night & were very happy with our experience. What really made the evening for us was the staff's eagerness to please its customers. We were initially seated downstairs. It wasn't a comfortable space. It felt like what it was . . . a basement. No light coming in, exposed vents. We ordered our drinks & an appetizer & then I decided to ask if we could move outside. A proactive waiter said that we could & then brought a table outside for us because all the tables were filled. Eating outside was lovely! (The main dining room on the first floor wasn't appealing either. It seemed very loud. We hear that there will be a dining space on the second floor soon.) We also were very happy with our food. The cheese & oil on our caprese salad had great flavor. For my entree I had the wild boar tagliatelle, which was excellent. It was very tasty & the portion was huge. I brought half of the serving home, My husband had the lasagna, which also was excellent.

Yelp
WOW WOW WOW!! Hello delicious gluten-free pizza (otherwise you can enjoy their 00 Italian flour they ship in for their special Neapolitan pizza to bake in their gorgeous oven). Phenomenal sauce, great toppings, excellent salads, delightful interior, what a treat for the heart of Capitol Hill. Staff was fabulous, Haydeee and Giselle was adorable, so excited for a new watering hole !!

Daniel W.

Yelp
The atmosphere was wonderful. It felt cozy and intimate. The food, however, was mediocre. It wasn't bad just forgettable. I had the lasagna and it tasted just like the sum of its parts. Nothing special.

Yelp
Dare I say it but Pacci's may be one of my favorite restaurant in DC, perhaps even my number one! Step into this cozy little row house-converted-to-a-restaurant and you're instantly greeted by wonderful smells and kind and friendly staff who are ready to list off the long list of specials and make choosing what you want for dinner even harder. The appetizer bread was divine. Divine I tell you! I can't explain you need to just try (we, in fact, had to order two rounds - it was that good). I ordered the white pizza loaded with veggies and continued to be impressed by the delicious food that was before me. It was perfect for sharing (or eating on your own if you're up for it). I will be back soon because I must also try the pasta. I almost hesitate to post this review because I'd love to keep this place for myself, but I must do what's right and alert the masses to this wonderful little spot right next to Lincoln Park. If you're from the Capitol Hill area then you probably already know it, but if you're from Northwest DC, it's worth trekking Southeast to visit our little treasure out here

Yelp
Quaintly set within Capitol Hill, right outside of Lincoln Park, this neighborhood restaurant serves up some down home Italian dishes. I ordered the special Diablo seafood pasta that included lumps of crab. The staff was friendly and attentive. I will definitely return.
google avatar

Stacey S.

Yelp
The food is great! For starters, my boyfriend and I shared the Mozzarella sticks - they were light, crispy, and gooey. We also split the olives. For our Mains, I had the Cacio y Pepe with Lemon Chicken. It was delicious, peppery, and lemony. My boyfriend got the lasagna, which was also very good. All of the food was fresh and homemade tasting. Service was great as well. We sat in the basement, but even though it was a basement, it still had a cozy ambiance (and its own bathroom, which was nice so we didn't have to go upstairs) This is our new favorite date night spot. They also have great HH specials!

Yelp
Not easy to find. Parking is not very easy. Italian menu. Service is very good. We have been there several times for lunch and enjoyed everything about Pacci's the food and the service were exceptional.
google avatar

Annelise B.

Yelp
Incredible, authentic Italian pastas! Definitely make a reservation, the space is small! Will definitely be going back to try the pizza.
google avatar

Meagan S.

Yelp
Finally made it to Pacci's and it was great! Everything (salad, calamari, gnocchi, carbonara, and dessert) was delicious and the portions were very generous. Very glad we made a reservation because by 6:30 on a Friday night both dining rooms were full. Wonderful, efficient waitstaff. Friendly atmosphere. The best Italian we've had in the area.
google avatar

Lisa N.

Yelp
Ambiance, service, food and wine were all delightful! Great neighborhood spot in charming Capital Hill.

Phoebe D.

Yelp
Having a reliably delicious Italian spot in my neighborhood is such a treasure. My go-to for nights I just want to treat myself. Their pizzas are delicious; light, crispy, and loaded with quality toppings. The Il Padrino, La Diavola, and Nanninella always hit the spot!
google avatar

Ella M.

Yelp
We love Paccis! We recently found this restaurant in the past year and have been pleased with the food, service, and ambiance. The calamari is a must. We've tried several pasta dishes and have loved them all.
google avatar

Austin G.

Yelp
After years and years and years and years of waiting for Pacci's to open just off of Lincoln Park in a space that's been many restaurants, Pacci's is here! Even though they have a bar and dining room, we called to schedule pick up. After 10 minutes on a Friday evening, we picked up our pizza and lasagna. My friend loved their lasagna and the portion was sizeable. I ordered the La Diavola pizza with spicy salami and it was excellent. It's neapolitan pizza so the crust is thin, but still very chewy and delicious. Service was fast and kind!
google avatar

Isabel W.

Yelp
Loved visiting this restaurant. Inside it feels kind of small but intimate. The servers are attentive and the food comes out very quick. I also lived my meals. I got the linguine alla carbonara. For dessert you have to get the tiramisu it was one of the best tiramisus I've ever had!
google avatar

Elaine G.

Yelp
The food at this new spot is delicious and close to home. The calamari was delicious And the pasta was also super fresh and Al dente. Highly recommend you give this spot a try.
google avatar

Kelsey W.

Yelp
Great pizza/pasta and friendly local service. We come here a few times a month and always enjoy what we order. Good spot to take kids as well.

Yelp
My husband and I came to Pacci's for brunch a few weekends ago. Let's start with the good stuff. It's in a great location and the space is very cute. Ambiance inside was nice. Food was decent. We split a stack of pancakes and a chicken sandwich that came with fries. The pancakes were pretty light and fluffy and had a nice vanilla-y flavor to them. The sandwich and fries were pretty good too. Now for the not so good stuff. The service was terrible. I don't think it was their fault as it seemed there were only 2 people working - covering the host stand, the dining room, and the bar. The place was pretty busy and they were severely understaffed. The staff were nice, but it was unorganized chaos and they very clearly were struggling. I hope we just caught them on bad day, because everything else was pretty good. I'd go back but I don't think I'd necessarily go out of my way for it.

Yelp
Top notch spot a quick ride up Capitol Hill. Small place, make reservations. Menu was perfectly balanced. Trout Special was epic. Good glass of wine, friendly service.
google avatar

Marina S.

Yelp
Amazing service! Waiters were fast and attentive. Family friendly restaurant. Food was delicious and tasted very authentic. Restaurant was very clean!! Will definitely come back.

Adam ..

Yelp
I had the gluten free pizza and thought it was above average on taste - would recommend! I enjoyed the ambiance upstairs and happy they got the permit to build it out. The place was fairly busy for a Wednesday night. I would say food is somewhat pricey but that is par for with the area. Happy that it is walking distance from my home.
google avatar

Rima F.

Yelp
Came for lunch last week. Our pizza was so amazing, that we ordered a second different one and were very pleased. Very nice, pleasant, casual, comfortable place. we will be back next time for dinner!!
google avatar

Lester P.

Yelp
I had lasagna and salad. I'd like to talk about the salad. It was absolutely amazing. My mother liked it and she never likes anything. Great job Pacci. I'll be back.

Devra G.

Yelp
We live in the neighborhood and would love to make it a weekly place to pop in for dinner and/or lunch. The food is extremely tasty and the staff are friendly. What stops us from being *regulars* is their menu pricing. Yes, the place is consistently busy so clearly their pricing works for folks, which is fine and good for their restaurant's success. I had high hopes this would be our first choice for those "Too tired to cook" nights, but unless the prices are dropped about 5-8 dollars a plate, it will have to be our "special occasion/splurge" kinda night place. I do recommend it but be prepared to pay closer to fine dining prices. Maybe they will offer a few more menu options at a lower price point in the future. If they did that? We'd be there for it!
google avatar

JA S.

Yelp
I came with my family for a really late lunch/early dinner. We haven't stopped talking about it since! Our food (calamari, pizza and pasta) was some of the best we have had (including in Italy!) The flavours were all there and everything was cooked PERFECTLY. Service was outstanding. Friendly, efficient and prompt! If we are ever in DC again this is the first meal I want to have again.

Sean F.

Yelp
Great neighborhood spot! This location has housed restaurants for as long as we've lived here (since 1997). This newish spot is excellent. Great pizza and pasta!

Josee A.

Yelp
Interesting. Pizza is one of the best Italian pizzas we have had in DC (and we have had a LOT of authentic Italian pizzas, we are obsessed with authentic Italian food). Was sourly disappointed in the pasta. It's just the kind of pasta you would get out of a box and boil. For the claim of being authentic, the setting, and the price - we expected actual handmade pasta. Ambiance was a little off too. Apparently they have a happy hour but no happy hour menu (and it's not online). I can't stand when restaurants do not advertise their full prices or specials. I may come back just for the pizza (and if we ever find out if they have a good happy hour - lol) but don't come here if you have your heart set on real Italian noodles. Service was very quick.
google avatar

Yelp
We just rolled into D.C., from Houston, for a quick weekend trip, and we stumbled across Pacci's and decided to check it out. The pizza was AMAZING, the service was so welcoming, and the restaurant had a great neighborhood vibe.

Suzie S.

Yelp
We were walking in the area and pulled up Yelp to see what restaurants were nearby. We were lucky to find Pacci's, which was one of the few places near us,...and highly rated. We were able to walk in without a reservation, though the place had many tables taken, and the food was excellent and the service top notch. Will happily recommend Pacci's.

Yelp
I have anticipated this Restaurant's opening as a recently departed resident of Capitol Hill for a number of years. I moved away from DC and happen stance returned for a visit this week. Luckily my friends who hosted me were able to get a table on the busiest night ever ... the second week of Pacci's opening. The place is a hit clearly. I test every Italian restaurant with its ability to make Margarita Pizza or a Pasta/Bolognese. I ordered both...both were wonderful. The Margarita was exquisite. As Napolitano pizza goes it CANNOT get any better... It is at par with Menomale in Brookline, which specializes in this type of pizza, but without the commute. Pacci is 2 weeks old so service staff is still working out it's kinks... as does any restaurant. Some staff is very young and learning on the job. We ordered a bottle of wine. The waiter opened it, but he didn't offer a sniff/taste before serving to ensure it was not spoiled. And when placing remaining bottle on table, tried to put cork back in bottle and we asked him to stop so the red could breathe a bit more... little things like that. He was very young, so accommodating and very sweet... quickly learned/recovered as well. The place was dealing with crowds of 5-8 people lingering at the door hoping for a table while others dined... it was a full house. Hats off to a great opening... this will become a steady neighborhood staple... and Pacci.will have a long standing and loyal following ... knowing the Capitol Hill crowd. Other DC residents should come try it for a change of scenery. In summer... order a pizza or two, a large bottle of Pelegrín's, and hang across street in Lincoln park while kids play in the playground... since Pacci is literally across the street of this wonderful and lovely park. Good I don't live here anymore... it would become my daily dining room and they would have to roll me out of the restaurant. But I am looking forward to visiting my friends from time to time and to enjoy a meal or two during the visit. All they are missing is fresh Gelato.... Enjoy!!! Enjoy!!!

Yelp
Second time there. Great atmosphere and excellent food. Today I had the charcuterie. I would have to say it is the best one I have ever had. And I consider it $34 well spent. The pictures speak louder than words. Love this place!

Melissa B.

Yelp
Amazing neighborhood spot for Italian food! We've been many times and always get great food and great service. Our favorites are the Cacio e Pepe and the charcuterie board which could feed an army!
google avatar

Randy G.

Yelp
A lovely Italian neighborhood spot with delicious grub! Definitely worth checking out.
google avatar

Robert G.

Yelp
My wife and I recently saw this place and we've gone twice. The first time we had a chicken sandwich and a pizza, both were delicious. We took our son for a late lunch today. The carbonara was excellent, my wife had the salmon fettuccine special with pesto. She thoroughly enjoyed it. Good wine list and decent beer options. We'll definitely be going back

Alexandra E.

Yelp
Lovely little place with amazing food and incredible vibes right by the park! Pasta is the highlight over the pizza here, but overall just a really pleasant dining experience.
google avatar

John K.

Yelp
Picked this restaurant because it was close to our VRBO, what good fortune that was! The service was fast, friendly and efficient. Only outdone by the chef. Over the week we ate three different dishes in this wonderful find, without exception some of the best Italian cuisine I have ever eaten, the wine cellar is very large and complete. The prices were amazing for the quality of the food. We will certainly return the next time we are in Washington DC. Highly recommended!

Ananya B.

Yelp
My friends and I went to Pacci's last night. We first sat outside and told our waiter that 2 of us are vegetarians. Due to the humidity, we moved inside after 10 minutes. We were assigned another waiter who was to serve us and we ordered exactly what we had ordered the last time we were there. When we got our food, we started eating and realized it has sausages in it. We called upon our server and asked them to rectify it but instead, we were told to order something else. We were also told that they would bill the dish with the meat since we had started eating it! They neither offered us a refund, nor a replacement of the dish without the meat. We were so shocked and disappointed by the lack of empathy that we didn't even finish the rest of the food. We took it in a to go box and left the restaurant. My friend doesn't eat meat due to religious reasons and the whole experience was very disturbing for all of us.

Heather H.

Yelp
So happy to have this restaurant right here in the neighborhood. My husband and I pop over to sit at the bar for a glass of wine and a pizza or meatballs and a salad every few weeks. However, I really do wish they had healthier options, and more vegetables. I feel like I must abandon any hopes of eating healthy when I dine here.

Paula R.

Yelp
Nice restaurant but portions are on the small size. Prices are a bit high for what you are served. The service was okay but since our server had to run up and down the stairs when we asked for anything so we quick asking. Pleasant restaurant ut very loud so a little hard to carry on a conversation.
google avatar

Carolyn L.

Yelp
We tried Pacci's for the first time tonight and really enjoyed it. We ordered the bread, olives, buffalo mozzarella pizza, and spaghetti. Everything was flavorful, fresh, and made to order. Very impressed with the interior and charm of this place and will definitely return. Service was excellent.
google avatar

Natalie M.

Yelp
Perfect neighborhood restaurant. Terrific service, homemade pasta, delicious pizza and a great view of Lincoln Park while you dine. We've waited a long time for a place like this on Capitol Hill!
