This iconic Marina Del Rey landmark is a great do-it-yourself yacht club across from The Chart House (great happy hour pricing!) where Jimmy Buffet would fit right in. Regardless of your boating experience, you still need to become a member, but it's a wonderful place to network with fabulous people from all over the world. Highly recommended! Check out the website and contact the membership director if you're interested in joining. You'll love it!

I like the regulars here. It's a drinking club with a yacht problem. A lot of do-it-yourselfery. The Tuesday night racing series brings a lot of the fun (as opposed to serious) racers together. Michael Mckinsey and crew are the best.

This is a nice place to dock your boat whether it's long or short term. All of the residents being very friendly and conscientious of those around them.

Yelp
I was invited to hangout with two of my friends who are members here at the Yacht club. They both enjoy the water and want to eventually sail and have a yacht of their own one day. As a member you can enjoy other like minded individuals and join in on weekly festivities they have planned and invite your friends to come and enjoy the view and use the facilities such as the bar which has some low cost prices. You can play some pool, table tennis and Foosball in one area. In another section is the bar and several tables to sit and enjoy each other's company and an outdoor area on the deck to enjoy the boats and scenery. At nighttime the deck area has a gas fire pit in the corner and heat lamps for your enjoyment outside. Currently they are celebrating their 60 year's anniversary of their establishment. It costs roughly $234 per quarter to be a member and you get to enjoy many activities and make new friends.

Yelp
This is a great location for a small celebration.. the views are great, the staff was helpful and the location was clean.. The bar was a little outdated, that would be the only con.

Yelp
While the location is absolutely spectacular, I was reprimanded throughout the evening. I understand that private clubs do not need to honor ADA full access service dogs, I was not given the opportunity to go and get my own food or clean my own items that I brought at a buffet recently. This is the reason why only one star for the venue. I do not need to be scolded or disallowed to get food which I brought to share with everyone. As a person who has veterans in their family, it makes me wonder, if they had service dogs they would get the same type of treatment. Very sad.

Yelp
The Pacific Mariners Yacht Club is THE best kept secret in Southern California. Located on the water in Marina del Rey, PMYC is a members only club (but you can come as a guest) with two decks, a pub, full professional kitchen (they call it the "Galley"), and rec room. It has a fantastic view, a wonderfully eclectic membership, and they sponsor a wide variety of boating activities and special events. The Club House is vintage 1970 - a great place for small events if you are a member or a guest. Below are the reasons they give for joining this amazing, fun, and casual Yacht Club: 11 Reasons To Join Pacific Mariners Yacht Club 1. GET OUT ON THE WATER: Pacific Mariners Yacht Club activities give you many reasons to get on the water -- which is why we love boats in the first place! Be it our annual Dingy Raft-up, to spontaneous fishing trips, or day sails with your friends - PMYC finds new ways to hit the Aqua. And of course reciprocal agreements with Yacht Clubs up and down the coast allow you to use their docks, moorings, & facilities all over the West Coast and the world. 2. GREAT SOCIAL CLUB: Ever wonder what to do with an empty weeknight or weekend? The Club will help fill your social calendar. Our two gigantic HDTV's, with a full assortment of sports & movies make watching your favorite team or flick an amazing experience. We also have lots of DVD's; a lending library; video games; a pool table; WiFi Internet access, and a championship foosball table round out the things to do. Bands, dinners, movie nights, potlucks, dances, special events, BBQs, and mixers - all with members who enjoy the Yachting lifestyle - makes the Pacific Mariners Yacht Club the liveliest Club in Southern California! 3. CRUISE, CRUISING, CRUISED: Pacific Mariners Yacht Club has a very active cruise schedule. There are at least five PMYC cruises scheduled every season. In addition, PMYC teams up with other Yacht Clubs for a half dozen more. Enjoy the fun of cruising to spectacular locations and creating lifetime memories with Pacific Mariner friends. 4. RACING, RACING, and more RACING: Pacific Mariners Yacht Club sponsors a variety of sailboat racing series. More importantly, membership in the PMYC allows you to participate in races from clubs all over the area. For cruisers or power boaters, there are numerous opportunities to crew on members' sailboats. 5. MULTI-MILLION DOLLAR VIEW: One of the joys of Marina del Rey is its physical beauty - day or night. PMYC has a spectacular view from the Clubhouse and our two outdoor patios. Our casual facility has more than a 180-degree vista. 6. YACHT CLUBS WORLDWIDE: When traveling for work or pleasure, your PMYC membership card gives you access to Yacht Clubs across the nation and around the world. All you have to do is present your Pacific Mariners Yacht Club Membership card. But beware; most Yacht Clubs are not as casual or as fun as ours! 7. DO-IT YOURSELF: Pacific Mariners Yacht Club is one of the last true Do-It Yourself clubs in America. Because of that, every member is a vital part of this Club. Besides a Maintenance Crew, we have no paid employees. If the membership doesn't do it -- it doesn't get done. Be it setting up for an event, pouring drinks, or planning the next cruise. 8. FANTASTIC MEALS: We have a fully outfitted professional Galley. You can dine every Friday evening with your friends at PMYC. The Club sponsors high quality, low cost meals that you are sure to enjoy. Of course, PMYC members prepare all meals. We also have great Monday Night dinners throughout the professional football season. There are also three outdoor grills - both charcoal and gas. 9. 24/7/365: That's right the Pacific Mariners Yacht Club never closes. Well, it closes, but you can open it up anytime you like. The PMYC clubhouse is available to members everyday and all night. As a full member of PMYC, you can pick up ice for your sail to Santa Catalina at 5AM or stop in late with your friends for a nightcap. PMYC is truly the Yacht Club that never sleeps. 10. AMAZINGLY AFFORDABLE: Pacific Mariners Yacht Club is very affordable, but like everything else worth having, it isn't free. Our monthly dues are less than $2.50 a day. Have your morning coffee and read the newspaper on the PMYC deck - and you will have saved yourself $3.00! 11. MAKE NEW FRIENDS: Perhaps the best reason to join the Pacific Mariners Yacht Club is that it is a great place to meet people who share a love for the water and a passion for yachting. We pride ourselves on being an amazing mix of people & personalities. The PMYC Clubhouse is known as one of the friendliest places in Marina del Rey. Come on down & check us out!

Yelp
Wonderful place! Unfortunately, I'm not a member so I've only been a few times as a guest. This is a wonderful place to have a drink. Great views! The members are all very friendly and welcoming.

Yelp
A place for drinkers with a boating problem. A yacht club far more geared toward Al Czervik than Capt. Merrill Stubing (go Google those if you must, but if you have to Google both, this probably isn't the place for you.) A fun place run by great people with a heavy hand and a love of sailing.

Michael D.

Yelp
When you hear the word YACHT CLUB most people instantly think of snotty old White People but PMYC is NOT that place! Whether you're a Guest or Member this a wonderful Club with people that love to have a fun and great time. It truly is the Best Kept secret in Marina Del Rey. If you cannot have a great time there then check yourself as YOU are the problem. It is full of fun loving people that enjoy getting out on the water when the day is done are looking for a place to call home. If you are fun loving person, this place is where you should call home one day soon. I love sharing this secret with all of my friends and people that I meet that think they know the Marina culture thinking that only rich people have fun on the water and that is simply not the case. Come check it out for yourself! You will never regret it... I have not.

Yelp
While I can't say much about the club itself, I can tell you that these guys helped me in my quest to track down my wife's grandfather's hand-built sailboat, which he had to sell in the 80s and we thought was lost. These guys are quality people and really care about sailing and boats.

Greg B.

Yelp
As a (probably too) frequent guest of several PMYC members, my wife and I love coming here for the views, the colorful people, very fun semi-DIY bar, and incredible food. The culture is wide open, salty, and not snooty at all. Everyone is friendly and we are always made to feel as though we are members here. You can't beat the many special events which often feature live music and always offer fun and really great food prepared by volunteer members. We have visited all of the yacht clubs in MDR many times and can say without hesitation that PMYC pegs the fun meter. This is an all volunteer club with no paid staff. If you are looking for an awesome venue, fun people who love boating and drinking (not necessarily in that order), and want to take an active role in the cruising, parties, and social life of an honest, down to earth yacht club, this is the place for you.

Yelp
I was invited by MD3 to come for the start of the season a couple years back. From the fun activities (including viking horned helmets) and the nice people, if we didn't live in the Valley we would join for sure! The food was bountiful the drinks were sailor worthy and the entire atmosphere was relaxed and not stuffy. If you have a boat, canoe or blow up floaty and live nearby join!

Yelp
Joined this club shortly after being introduced to some members. Brilliant! Fun! Lovely! Friendly! Fabulous! I enjoy the location and people so much. A small but wildly valuable investment. What a treasure.

Yelp
When I bought my boat last year, I wanted a way to learn and participate more on the water and live the life in the Marina and was introduced to the PMYC through a fabulous sailor, Tony Malazzo, a member of PMYC. He invited my husband and I to every event and to just come and grill on the patios. I've met so many wonderful, friendly and knowledgeable boaters and have begun to really enjoy the fabulous Monday Night Football dinners with family and friends. I've danced nights away after a racing event, laughed with new friends, gotten a book to read from the library, enjoyed a game day with friends (and won). The Pacific Mariners Yacht Club really is the BEST kept secret in Southern California.

Yelp
Went here for a drink with some sailor friends of mine. The gin and tonic was so strong that it was probably worth 3 drinks in and of itself. Everyone in the clubhouse greeted me with extreme friendliness; I felt like I was on another planet where everyone is nice and open-hearted. And one woman got up and did the hula. If all bars were like this, I'd probably become an alcoholic. Also, if you know of any way I can trade in my car for a boat-- let's just say I'm listening.

Yelp
This is a great little spot for those who have big livers and extra time. Wonderful spot of Panay way, great window views of the marina, a bunch of salty old dog's, most of whom love the cheap beer, stop in and ask a member to sponsor you and you can have 2$ Coors lights!! Whoot whoot!! Beware of Paulina, the evil dock imp.

Frank R.

Yelp
COme there nearly every week in the summer, a nice quiet secret gem. I could go on an on a really amazing experience and their service is awesome!

Peter N.

Yelp
friendly and helpful - laid back and easy going....

Yelp
We were recent guests at PMYC and were warmly welcomed into the family. Traveling down the coast we arrived at the club late on a stormy Monday night, after dark without a clue where we were going in this 6,000+ slip marina. Club members came out in a dingy to help lead us in and then once docked offered us drinks and dinner on the house. They are true mariners with a love for their fellow mariners and a love for their local waters.
