The Pacific Room Opens Tomorrow at Alki Beach, With Locally Sourced Seafood and Live Music - Eater Seattle

"Tomorrow, the Pacific Room opens to the public at 2808 Alki Avenue SW, bringing an upscale but easy-going supper club sensibility to the area, with locally sourced seafood dishes, inventive cocktails, and live jazz. General manager Kurt Niemeyer conceived of the project, which has been in the works ever since the divey sports bar Hawks Nest closed down in the space earlier this year. This is Niemeyer’s first restaurant (he has a background in marine biology), but there’s plenty of polish to the interior, which features electric fireplaces, white walls, nautical decor, a small stage, and a slick, marble bar. The kitchen also got a major revamp. Hawaiian-born chef Warren Akana prepares simple, but elegant dishes, with an emphasis on Alaskan sockeye salmon (served both as sashimi and pan seared), locally sourced rockfish, and halibut. On the red meatier side, the menu has a filet mignon and a kalbi short rib dish served with eggs, fried rice, and a house-made Teriyaki sauce. In keeping with the season, the cocktail list currently skews toward the lighter side. There’s a mellow Mai Tai made with rum, pistachio orgeat, and orange curacao, a gimlet with golden gooseberries, and a mezcal fizz with rose liqueur and hibiscus syrup. The Pacific Room hopes those all pair well with the series of live events planned for the venue, starting with jazz guitarist Keith Wright on opening night." - Gabe Guarente

Came here to listen to jazz, and this is a beautiful little room for that purpose. Food was excellent. We had lamb and halibut and both were spiced and accompanied very nicely. Service was perfectly pleasant if a bit slow and disorganized. Still, a fine place to spend an evening.

Staff are very friendly and professional, food is delicious, the lamb is beautifully cooked. The drink menu looks intriguing too. We had good time there. The atmosphere is classy and fun. Good place for date. They have live music too!

The good: Nice ambiance and cool jazz. Very nice hostess. The bad: The service was very slow. We ordered drinks and salads and an appetizer and waited almost an hour for the food. The ugly: The music was a good distraction, but when the food arrived, it wasn't worth the wait. The coconut shrimp was very good. The salads were not exactly cold, and they were also soggy. The salmon on the Caesar salad was both overcooked and lukewarm. The Caesar dressing lacked...Caesar-ness. The manager didn't visit to ask how things were until after the meal and didn't have anything to say about the above except thanks for our business. I'd like to like this place because it's got a great vibe. Unfortunately, it's a restaurant, so the food and the service have to count.

My husband and I have eaten here twice in the past three weeks and LOVED this place. The service one night was a little slow, but only because they were new and getting used to the rhythm of things, but the food is terrific, the staff is great and the music is superb. Give them a try!! You will not be disappointed.... Promise!!

I really want this place to finally succeed. It’s definitely better than any other restaurant that’s been there previously but the food is overpriced for the quality. Service was good. I wish it was a tapas place maybe or had some higher quality lower price point options. It’s got a lot of competition in the area and unfortunately the price point is just too high for the quality of food. But it’s a step in the right direction with the decor and staff. Hopefully it will grow into a great neighborhood spot that we all love with the proper tweaks to the menu . Simple well made food would make this a winner for sure.

The ambiance is great. The service was terrible. It was not busy when we arrived but it took 45 minutes just to get our bottle of wine to the table. We were about to walk out of the restaurant when our food finally came two hours after our arrival!! The fries were already cold. The $20 salad came with a big raw piece of salmon. If you like expensive food and bad service you might want to try this place.

We visited when it was first opened. The food was delicious! The risotto was to die for! We had excellent service and enjoyed the ambiance of the restaurant. The decor was lovely and welcoming. My only regret was that the night we were there didn’t have live music. I’ve heard it’s incredible. PS: If they have the mango mousse on the menu, GET IT!
