We went for a weekend trip and stayed in a 1-bedroom apartment with a sitting area and kitchen. Laundry available on the facility. The resort is right on Cox Bay beach so you walk right onto the beach from the resort. Apartments are clean and well kept. Coffee shop and other facilities are available on site. Staff are friendly and helpful. Complimentary yoga on the beach is really good.

A wonderful resort for all age groups. The suite was very well stocked with good quality equipment and china. The only negative was the outdoor fast food mainly fried so dined in the Great Room at the Long Beach Lodge which was excellent. Adding a quality restaurant option with table service would make this resort perfect.

Nice, well appointed spacious suites with a suitable kitchen and seating area. We had a "partial view" of the ocean which was wonderful. The bed was great. Both food spots on site served very good "to go" food for when we didn't feel like going into town. The multiple fire pits were very cozy. The onsite service was great. We will come back.

Loved this property. On the beach with hammock, fire pits, grills and laundry room on site. We had room with kitchenette, they supplied utensils, you just need to bring the food and drink. Place was popular among surfers and fully booked during our stay but not noisy. They had free movies and board games to borrow for rainy days.

Wow what a beautiful resort right on Cox beach. We picked Pacific Sands for its location, rooms and being pet friendly. The rooms are well stocked (even towels for dogs) all the essentials are provided in the kitchen for staying in if needed and BBQ's are available too, the beachfront ground level room we had was perfect for walking the dogs out the patio everyday. Staff is awesome and accommodating for whatever you need. They have numerous beach front gas fire pits with chairs which are perfect for grabbing a coffee or having lunch with the sound of the ocean and fantastic views. Reminds me of Hawaii definitely will be back to Pacific Sands.

Google
Amazing stay at Pacific Sands. Have been to Tofino before but we recently stayed at Pacific Sands with family. Amazing resort, very thoughtfully designed and beautiful landscaping. Sitting by the fire pits is a must, fantastic stocked kitchen and pet-friendly rooms with blankets and rain coats. Will definitely be back next Summer and would recommend during storm season as each room has a fireplace and the access to the beach is unmatched. Also loved that you could text there team at any point with questions or for service. Thank you Pacific Sands Team!!

Absolutely loved our stay at Pacific Sands! The suite was spacious and beautifully maintained, with stunning ocean views that made every moment special. The attention to detail throughout the resort was top-notch—from the cozy interiors to the thoughtfully designed outdoor spaces. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a relaxing, scenic getaway!

A lovely resort location giving you the beach space and amenities to enjoy quietly if desired, yet watch surfers and see others as well, without the crowds. |Many options available to lounge outside with views, fire pits for warmth, and BBQ’s to help with dinner. |Inside is clean, comfortable, with full kitchen. |Staff always helpful. |Have returned many times.

Yelp
What can i say, but this place is truly magical! It reminds you of the beauty of nature and to live life slowly. We booked a weekend stay and enjoyed every minute. The resort is immaculately maintained. Staff are very pleasing and accommodating. Our room was clean and hand sani was readily available. We booked an beach front suite and was completely blown away. Our backdoor opened up to a vast expanse of greenery which was 15 steps to the beach. Filled with picnic tables, fire-pits, hammocks, lawn chairs that face the ocean...what more can you ask for. It was a staycation 2.0 for sure. Upon entering our suite, a bottle of complimentary wine was waiting for us. All kitchen utensils were complete and ready for our use, properly sanitized. In the lobby, check in was a breeze. Free Rhino coffee and hot chocolate 24/7. A small service pantry was available if you forgot anything ...every detail was thought of and prepared for you. For guests, a free smores kit is being handed out for guests to enjoy the fire pit and bond around a campfire. Bike rentals can also be had for a mere $15 for 4 hrs or $30 the whole day. Our pet got to stay for free, with no extra pet cleaning fee, as a courtesy for returning guests. And of course, we were accorded a late checkout for us to enjoy our stay more. From the moment you wake up to the sound of the ocean and the cool breeze going through your window, you are surrounded by nature's beauty all around. Such an excellent place to relax and unwind and feel the sand between your toes. Miles and miles of beach to walk and explore, and the water provided a welcoming relief to the scorching heat. Yes, it is a bit pricey, i must admit. But once in a while, you have to treat and love yourself. This place is simply amazing. Watching the sunrise and set and see the glow of the beach at night from the moonlight, reminds you that life is beautiful. A must go for everyone. A must try for first timers. A must add-on for your bucket list. Explore your own backyard. Cheers! Happy exploring!

Yelp
This place is gold. Not only is the location perfect, rooms clean and lovely and grounds epic, but the staff is what makes it. I sprained my ankle surfing. They sent over a first aid man straight away with a set of crutches, ice and bandages and then proceeded to call and check on me several times, even after I checked out...they also allowed me to leave early without penalty to get to my US doctor...and the righteous women running the coffee bar will know your name and order after one visit and make you feel welcomed and at home. Pac Sands is perfect, I will definitely be bringing my family back for some summertime fun. Thanks PS

Yelp
We stayed here for my father's 70th birthday and had a wonderful experience. We were in a low 30's numbered two bedroom beach house (those with lower numbers most probably have even better views :)) but were so taken away with the glorious views of the ocean and the beach. It was such a treat to walk directly out to the private beach! The beach house was so spacious and loved the well appointed kitchen, nice dining area, living room area, and balcony with the chairs to see a blissful scene outside. My daughter loved the hammock just below and it was so nice that the unit had an outer shower as well which had hot water. The bedrooms were fascinating with the master bedroom on the top most level and the guest bedroom with two beds on a split level right below. The master bedroom had breathtaking views of the beach/ocean and was sufficiently away from the other bedroom so it was easy to sleep. We had a pup in tow as well and it was nice that this resort is quite dog friendly. It was an awesome space for six of us (four adults, two kids) and loved eating meals in the kitchen. I loved that they had a private boardwalk trail called Pettinger Point that had glorious views of the ocean. There were also amazing tide pools on the beach during low tide. The one tiny nit is the floors in the kitchen didn't feel clean and guessing that could partly be because they are slate and second that being on a beach it is easy to track in sand. We would definitely look forward to heading back... and hoping to make this an annual tradition for our family! Such wonderful memories...

Yelp
We went to BC in October and spent two nights at this wonderful resort in Tofino. Situated right on the beach in a little cove we watched surfers from our balcony. We had a one bedroom suite and a view that made my heart ache. There is no Netflix/ Amazon but the resort does have a fantastic DVD library which we enjoyed. They also provide popcorn. The suite was spotless and decoration was minimalist . The decor accentuated the view which was truly magnificent. There was a restaurant however we don't like reservations as they limit flow. We were lucky to slip into the stunning bar/restaurant at the resort literally 100 metres down the beach; Long Beach Lodge Resort. Dotted on the property were gas fire pits surrounded with Adirondack chairs. A lovely place to relax with a glass of wine as you watch the waves crash and the surfers gradually pack it In for the day as the sun sets. When can I go back?

Yelp
We had a great time here at Pacific Sands. The beach being right there is awesome and the Surfside Grill on the property is delicious. The rooms are quite spacious and very clean. Love that there is a full kitchen in the rooms, makes it easy with food. The property is absolutely gorgeous and it has been such a pleasant stay. We definitely will be back again.

Yelp
We stayed in the beachfront suites in October 2020. The room was great with breathtaking ocean views. There is plenty to do on site, with surf and bike rentals as well as a fantastic burger shop. There was plenty of outdoor setting by the fires. We enjoyed several walks/hikes around Cox bay and enjoyed watching the surfers. The customer service was exceptional. Their covid protocols were in place and working great. It was a fantastic weekend. Highly recommend!

Yelp
What can I say, this is one of the most hospitable places I've stayed. We had booked another resort 30 minutes away in Ucluelet that looked beautiful in the photos. That place was horrible. It smelled bad, a door fell off the hinges and was pretty old and dirty. We decided not to stay there and called Pacific Sands and Dawson answered the phone. Dawson (we now refer to her as Awesome Dawson) was extremely sympathetic and helped find us a room that we'd be happy with. She found us a nice one bedroom on the ground floor. It wasn't super fancy, but it was clean, well kept and opened up to a beautiful beach. We also really enjoyed all of the food and the friendly service at the food shack. Plus Brandon at the front desk hooked my daughter up with a S'mores kit to roast at the fire pit. We had a genuinely great time. Especially considering we were 1000 miles from home and their hospitality made a very stressful situation the total opposite. If we ever return to Tofino, we'll absolutely be back.

Yelp
I genuinely love staying here. It is so incredibly comfortable, calming, and so unbelievably relaxing. The view from staying anywhere in the resort is just phenomenal. The staff are so kind and the customer service is amazing. The beach is quite literally your front yard and the view of any sunset is just absolutely breathtaking. The food at the Surfside Grill is quite literally perfect, and even during the summer when everything's packed and everyone's hungry, the staff do the absolute best to stay on top of things and always have the best attitudes. I've stayed here multiple times and have never once been disappointed, from the beautiful views, to the amazing food, and even the incredible staff, this has been and will always be my go to resort. If you can afford the pricey nights, I would definitely recommend staying here for a couple nights. You will not be disappointed.

Yelp
We loved this place. We stayed in the two bedroom beach house. The views are spectacular, the two fireplaces L/R and Master BD were lovely. We really appreciated the rain slickers waiting for us and made use of those. Full kitchen, dining room, large living room and 2 view balconies made it really special. We enjoyed the movie selection and being just steps away from this spectacular beach is hard to top. Bed were super comfortable. Everything we needed or wanted in the room was available without asking. My #1 go to place now in Tofino. Wifi can be spotty so be prepared for that.

Yelp
This is the most beautiful resort in Tofino. We stayed here for our honeymoon (they upgraded us to a beautiful beach house!!!) and I couldn't have imagined a better trip. There is a little restaurant on the resort grounds and surf lessons/rentals/bike rentals which is super convenient. The front end staff were so nice and made us feel so special

Robert N.

Yelp
They have updated the rooms with new paint and beds but there are definite sound issues with the adjoining rooms from these older suites. It was hard to get a good nights sleep. The soap provided in the showers seems to be from some fancy place but it's very hard to have a shower using liquid soap from a pump. There is no restaurant on site but they do have a fast food burger shack which serves some pretty good food. The wifi seemed fast which was also pretty cool. The lady who took my booking was very kind. The service management on the other hand was very rude and condescending when I had a concern. Therefore this is why I'm giving this resort 2 stars. It would have been 4 stars if I did not have this poor encounter.

Yelp
We spent 3 nights at Pacific Sands this past weekend in the two bedroom beach house. There was just the two of us so the second bedroom was moot but clearly would be great if you are traveling with kids or even a second couple. Although if with a second couple they definitely lose out on the amazing view from the master bedroom. The check in process was great. Quick and easy. Amazing views! Massive windows and perfect angles to maximize the great scenery. The units are luxurious and very comfortable. Have most things you need to be self sustained if you never wanted to leave. Just bring what you need for food and drink and you are set! As with most places with kitchens the frying pan situation is one traditional pan, so as I've learned over the years bring your own non stick or two. Staff was friendly and helpful. Great movie selection in the lobby area as well! Wandered down to Long Beach Lodge and checked out their rooms. Nice and all but you are pretty much stuck eating in their dining room or driving ten minutes to town. This is not a problem at Pacific Sands. You can do either or. Which we did. Actually ate at Shelter for both the meals we had out. All in all we extremely pleased with our stay and wouldn't hesitate to recommend the beach houses or even the smaller units to anyone.

Yelp
Five stars for location, value, and all-around loveliness. The Pacific Sands is located between the two fancy resorts of Wickanninish and Long Beach Lodge, but is much more affordable than those two. It's located right on the beach in Cox Bay, where you can hear the ocean pummel the beach and watch the breakers coming, right from your room. They have a wide variety of rooms - from multilevel condos to studios - and all have ocean views. From our ground-floor suite in the lodge, we could walk right out to the beach, or take a hike up to the viewpoint where you get an awesome view of the waves rolling in. There's no restaurant or spa at the resort, but all the rooms have well-equipped kitchenettes and there are tons of cool restaurants and cafes nearby. The hotel is family-run and they're really friendly; plus there's a video rental at the front desk and books on loan. Pacific Sands is perfect for the budget-minded traveller who wants a quiet, low-key experience. I found it a great place to connect with the natural spirit of Tofino, without giving up the comfort and style of a hotel.

Yelp
We stayed in a one bedroom beach house for three nights and it was amazing! The resort has everything you could need, including an onsite restaurant with good food! The beach is beautiful and perfect for long walks and surfing. We can't wait to come back!!!

W G.

Yelp
Rooms are not well sound proofed and we had a neighbour that banged and thumped for four hours each night. Along with the occasional blast of music or TV. The hotel spokesperson said that I should have reported it. First they don't have phones in the room and beside that, who wants to repack and move to another location that could be just as bad or worse. Fortunately the noise abated at around 9:30.

Stephen A.

Yelp
Pacific Sands is a comfortable mix of casual and a more conventional resort, perfectly located on a gorgeous beach with plenty of space, waves and wildlife. As relaxing as you want it to be, or as adventurous as the west coast welcomes you to be. Unless you just want to sit back and read, you'll probably spend a lot of time outdoors. This is a great place to return to at the end of the day. There is no restaurant on site, but the full kitchen in our condo unit was perfect to prep real meals for two families, so this was much easier and cheaper than finding places to eat every day. (Most restaurants in the Tofino area are either trying too hard to be posh or not even trying hard enough to be casual). There are a few shared bbqs on site, and I really like the big communal fire pit shelter. A perfect place for kids to roast marshmallows, even when it's rainy and windy. The townhouse style unit was nicely appointed, though it was starting to show its age. The master bedroom was stunning; big windows looking out to the sea, fireplace, two person tub with an ocean view, and a very comfy bed. Oddly, the shower was small and dark. The TVs are placed way too high (above the fireplace) to watch comfortably, and they are tucked into the walls, which muffles the speakers to the point of being very difficult to hear. I know that we aren't really supposed to watch TV while on vacation in Tofino, but this made it hard to have movie night for the kids. For those who want/need to stay connected to the real world, wireless is available, but the signal was weak most of the time. Considering all the options in the area, Pacific Sands is definitely worth the price if you're planning to be here for a vacation.

Yelp
Nice rooms with the best beach but comes with a price. If you can afford to stay here please do. The beach is absolutely beautiful. We stayed in room 266 oceanfront view. The room was nice but wish the bedroom was in the living room so you can hear the wave crashing. You are so close to pacific rim national park and Tofino. Great location. Stunning beaches. Tofino has stole my heart. What a beautiful place.

Seahugger B.

Yelp
Lovely resort on a beautiful beach. Disappointed that there was not one common hot tub for all guests as there are multiple hot tubs for exclusive suites. Dog-friendly suites also were pretty strict and didn't provide a bed despite not allowing dogs on furniture. For value, Cox Bay Beach Resort next door has more space and was just as lovely if travelling with family/dog/hot tub fans.

Michael K.

Yelp
We stayed here for 3 nights in a two-bedroom beach house. These are two-story townhouse-style units, with five units per building. The master bedroom was fantastic, with an incredible beach view (and a small deck), and a great soaking tub that is just outside the bathroom (so that you can take advantage of the great view). We used this for baths for kids, but I trust it would be pretty great for a romantic soak, too. The other bedroom faces the parking lot, so the view is not as wonderful, but it's still a good room (with two queens). The first floor has a larger deck, more great view, and a full kitchen. You can buy some basic food supplies and some frozen meals at the main desk, if you'd like. You can also get games or videos. It's a pretty good setup. The beach access is great, and the beach itself sports white sands, and secrets coves that will delight your kids (and adults, too). There are also gas and charcoal grills available for your use. We didn't try them, but the looked like they were in great condition. WiFi is free, but questionable. Low signal strength, and bandwidth that ebbed and flowed, with lots of ebbing. But you're not here to surf the 'net, so get over it. Hit the beach!

Jordan V.

Yelp
Great value, nicely designed and decorated suites, and amazing views. Staff presence and better amenities would greatly increase the quality.

Susan M.

Yelp
We were blown away. At the end of February 2012 we spent 4 days of our honeymoon at Pacific Sands Resort. It was perfect. The room overlooked Cox Bay and we could hear the surf pounding when we opened our patio door. The room was wonderful with a great view, the staff was very helpful with suggestions for restaurants in the area. We walked along the nearly empty beach, watched the surf pound against the rocks and watched beautiful sunsets. Next time we hope for a serious storm. We are definitely planning to go back.

N M.

Yelp
We stayed here for one night and the pictures on their website do not match the suite! The person who spoke with us on the phone said it was modern and clean. Yes, we had terrific views of the ocean but felt like we were in a fishbowl with the staff and other guests walking/standing and talking on their phones right outside our window/door. If you are looking for privacy, this is not the place. It smelled musty and smoky as well. They told us we had free internet although it had super low strength and continually disconnected. The kitchen, bath and living space is outdated (definitely not what the pictures showed) and for the $400 plus fees we paid for the night, you can get a gorgeous and modern ocean view room at the Wickannish! We will come back to Tofino but never to Pacific Sands.

FU Yelp F.

Yelp
Love this place. We go there for our anniversary every year or so, in December, for the storm watching. Helpful staff; clean, spacious, comfy rooms, terrific beach and close to town for the great Tofino restaurants. Prices, though not cheap, are considerably better than the neighbouring resorts.

Yelp
We spent a great family weekend at Pacific Sands. We had 3 nights there. We brought our 3 kids, ages 12-22. It was the perfect spot for our family. Surfing was right outside our room. The surf shop was convenient for renting extra equipment. It is a place for active, social people. We enjoyed watching the other families around us having fun on the property. The lobby attracted our kids with their friendly staff and bottomless hot-chocolate/coffee service. They had videos, board games, sand toys, bikes, etc. The room was nice-- the beds and bedding were very comfortable. (Staff made origami animals out of bath towels and left them on the kids' beds-- we were adequately amused!) The kitchen was adequate for us to cook our favorite family meals. We will definitely come back. (If you are looking for the stuffy, quiet, elegant getaway, then you should head up to the Wickinninish Inn-- this might not be the place for you.) This place is more about comfort, cleanliness and most of all--fun.

Yelp
First time to Tofino and we are in love with it! The beach house and Pacific Sands was perfect for this family of 3. The view from the living room and master bedroom were breathtaking. And we loved waking up to the sound of waves rolling in and out. Great to take a morning stroll or jog down the beach. Very quick drive to downtown Tofino. Cleaning staff were always cheerful and friendly. Parking was just steps from the front door. Will definitely be back.
