How to Catch and Cook Dungeness Crab in the San Francisco Bay Area | Eater SF

"I point out that you can fish without a California license off public piers, and Pacifica Municipal Pier is specifically called out as a popular crabbing scene where recreational crabbers can legally fish without a license." - Becky Duffett

This is a good spot to fish if you don't mind bad weather sometimes as it can be foggy and cold and windy in the mornings and sometimes drizzly. The seagulls are like mosquitoes, you have to keep your eye on your bait as you're putting it on the hooks because the seagulls will swoop down and take it. Some days of fishing is good depending on what time of year it is and the weather and Tide conditions. Other times it's not good at all with nobody catching any fish other than a few smelt. The bathrooms are horrible period bring your own toilet paper. There are no partitions between euros in the men's room which makes it very uncomfortable as you're almost shoulder to shoulder what's a guy beside you. I've seen the toilet stall, I will say sprayed with fecal matter. The cleaning lady I will say does an amazing job and is underpaid. I wish I had some money to tip her on the days that I see her. The Chit Chat Cafe is a great place to get yourself some warm coffee, homemade snacks and sandwiches. They have a barbecue tri-tip sandwich Fresh Off The Grill. They also sell some fishing gear like sinkers, bait and Siddiqui rigs for catching the bait fish. There is a local bait store a few blocks up but they're way over priced.

It is cool to walk along or would you say down the pier, anyways, seeing all the fishermen/women casting lines and waiting for a bite (or whatcha call it). It’s pretty just to walk along the shoreline and take it all in with the views. Worth stopping by if you have the time.

We came here to watch whales, and although we didn't see any, it was a good experience. Lots of people are fishing here and the view is great. Parking is available in nearby streets. From here you can walk to Mori point.

This beach is absolutely stunning. The ocean waves, the soothing sound of the water, the stones, black sand, pier, hills, and hiking trails are all incredible. It’s the most amazing beach I’ve visited in California. You can park your car right along the beach. While the parking area is small, there always seems to be space available. Restrooms are located on the pier, though the pier is currently closed. There are picnic tables along the beach where you can enjoy a meal before heading up the stairs to the hill. The view from the top is breathtaking!

Amazing view, very cool to watch the fishermen on the pier getting there early and staying until the pier closes. Wonderful café on the pier. Very quaint and quiet for bird or whale watching.

Nice beach with plenty of parking options, restaurants, flush toilets and a lot more. The pier itself was a bit dirty and dingy filled with many people fishing and scattering the remains of it everywhere. There’s a part of pier that reserved for brown pelicans and other sea birds to use. Rest of the area had many seating options, trash cans available everywhere and did spot some whales and many other native bird species. The fog does add to charm to its beauty!

Beautiful ocean views no question asked. Too crowded, pier has about 40-50 "permanent" residents. No matter what day or time it is, they are there 15/7. They have their own carts, tables, chairs, cooking stove, boom box and you name it.... taking good spots for fishing on the pier and not giving a chance to recreational fishermen. Basically, every day same thing same faces.
