"South Padre Island’s stop for brewed-on-site beer also has a vast menu. However, those expecting a traditional pub menu will instead find fresh snapper filets and beer-battered shrimp, as well as entrees like Texas quail and pizza topped with smoked meat. Padre Island Brewing Co. offers various dietary substitutions for vegetarians, plant-based eaters, and people avoiding gluten, like a cauliflower pizza crust, Beyond Burger, and vegan mozzarella, all provided without an extra charge." - Lane Gillespie, Brittany Britto Garley

Man let me tell you, there beer is dope and they sell it to go in a old school jug that is refillable. Buffalo wings are good and the pickles with cheese curds are bomb. Pizza is legit and tasty. They have happy hour specials. I highly recommend if you want to try local beer and good food with good vibes.

Google
We came for a burger & had pizza as well. Everything was delicious! The beer was excellent too. We plan to return for happy hour, great prices.

Google
Stopped for happy hour ordered appetizers and two IPAs - Celia was our server. She was prompt and pleasant. Another person brought a bowl of water for our pups - we ate outside enjoying the sunshine

Google
This food was the best sea food i’ve had in such a long time. the atmosphere is amazing and nothing too crazy you could say it’s family friendly as well as people has their kids here. the food was so good and such good quality. our server and as i noticed other servers as well were so attentive. would drive 8+ hours to come here again. 10/10

Google
They’ve been in business since 1995. They are doing everything right!!! Great location, Service, Food & Atmosphere! It all good. We will be back for sure!! The BEST Fresh Oysters I’ve ever tasted! We ended up eating 3 1/2 dozen. Happy Hour is before 6pm 😘

Google
This place was really good. Very busy. We got the ribs. Get the half rack. It’s so much food. The flat bread was the best thing I ate on the island all weekend. It had pear on it and it was incredible. Service was good. It was very loud. Ample parking. We would go again.

Google
First of all I can't say enough good things about the value of their happy hour and specials. All of the food I have tried is very good. However some of you probably have a very specific question, is the early bird ribeye special any good for the very low price. The answer is... Yes, but. I would put it this way, the cut of meat is exactly what you would expect for the price point: select, thin, somewhat gristly. However the chef pulls out all the stops to make that piece of meat shine as much as it can. It was perfectly cooked. Well seasoned. Fat was well rendered. Sauce was excellent. Overall it's a good value but no, this isn't a steakhouse ribeye for $12. Unless that description fits what you are craving, stick to the other excellent items on their menu.

Google
Good selection of beer. Food was good, two of our four orders had to be corrected. The “Cowboy” ribeye was good but not really worthy of the $55 it cost. Was ordered medium rare and was brought out well done. No excuse for that but was corrected quickly. Shrimp & Steak was very good. Calzone was good (marinara was VERY good) and the fish tacos were good. Pleasant dining experience with acceptable food.

Yelp
A brewery that has 5 beers and all of them (well 4.5 of them) hit it out of the park (for us), it has never happened. Their beer sampler also comes in size that we have never seen before, I was done after I finished it. The crab cakes were good, the flat bread brought the right flavors and the service was pretty good. The pickles had good flavor but too much oil. Tom, was busy but found ways to check in. Definitely going back there next time we are in SPI.

Yelp
From the moment we were seated we were not greeted by the bartender for about 5 minutes. When he finally did acknowledge us, his attitude was as if he was being inconvienced. We got our lunch and the food was subpar to say the least. The bartender never came back to ask how it was, nor if we needed anything. I sat with an empty drink for the remainder of our time. He asked, as he was clearing our plates, if I'd like another beer. Yes, I would have, but not anymore. Service, food, and beer was disappointing. We were there for my husband's birthday and the rest of our day and night were ruined because the cheeseburger proceeded to make my husband have severe cramps and diarrhea. Needless to say, we do not recommend.

Greg L.

Yelp
Stopped here while vacationing in SPI. Did not get any food, so we cannot provide any reviews for that. However we did notice everyone was eating food while we were there late in the afternoon, so that's always a good sign. There were about 6 beers on tap, all made in house. We had an IPA and an Marsen style. We were open minded, but they were not our favorite beers. I'd like to come back and try some other ones as I noticed they have one many awards. We'll try again.

Yelp
We were sitted right away. Our waiter was very nice and engaging. Made great conversation. The restaurant was not too loud. We started with the beer battered pickles and cheese curds, with Buffalo ranch. The Shrimp Ceviche with corn tortilla chips was tangy with a little spice. Very enjoyable! Paired with their craft Pale Ale, perfection. We went a little hog wild with our pizza selection by creating am absolutely mouth watering, pizza loaded with pesto, cheese, mushrooms, artichoke hearts, and fresh arugula. This was one of our favorite selections yet! This is our go-to on every visit to SPI and always will be as long as they are here. Everything is always amazing.

Yelp
Wife and I stopped in to check out their food since we have only been there to taste their beers. Not crowded for 6:30 on a Wed. We were seated right away. Our waitress was quick to take our drink order and give us time to go over their menu. Wife had their banana punch and I had their Bloody Mary. Those were served in less than 5 min. Both were very good and strong especially my Bloody Mary. We ordered their cheese burger for my wife I had their Trifecta. Which was 3 shrimp a lg. Crab Cake and Blackened Flounder with garlic mashed potatoes and their Soup of the day. Our order was out to us quickly in less than 10 min. My wife loved her thick juicy cheeseburger and my entree was Fabulous. The Flounder was cooked perfectly the Crab Cake was delicious and the blackened shrimp were perfect. The soup of the day was a combination of veg. Crispy taco shell pulled chicken in a wonderful broth. All in all the place is a little noisy but you'll have that for a bar setting. The whole place is clean and very well set-up being able to see their beer making distillery behind the bar was unique also. We will be back before we leave for home.

Laura H.

Yelp
Come here for the beer, maybe for the food, but if someone in your party has celiac and can't drink beer, tell them to stay away from the mixed drinks. They're terrible. Salad was nice, but they'll upcharge you if you need a substitution. Overall overpriced, but an okay option if you know what to avoid.

Deb B.

Yelp
Food good, nice happy hour prices on both food and drink. Nice ambiance. Would go back.

Teresa B.

Yelp
That was a 100 for a first timer The waiter'srecommended drinks were just great, I ordered garlic shrimp over rice, as for my side I had a soup which was really tasty, the service was efficient and the food was great!!

Brandi P.

Yelp
Service 2/5 really not good and not friendly. Never got a drink refill. Always had to flag the server down and it wasn't busy. Never saw a manager. atmosphere 2/5 old and dingy Beer battered seafood 2/5 doesn't look or taste beer battered Coleslaw 3/5 alright Roasted potatoes 2/5 all I could taste was rosemary They sell swag and stickers. I don't recommend.

Shelly A.

Yelp
The beer, appetizers, prices, and the service were all good. The steam shrimp were served cold (not bad, just surprising). We opted for Captain Morgan sauce on our wings, which was great - a little bit sweet and a little bit spicy. My only complaint was the noise. The noise level was very high due to patrons' voices bouncing off the concrete ceiling and walls. Although outdoor seating was available, we opted not to endure the sweltering mid-90s temperatures.

Michelle M.

Yelp
Excellent everything. Food, service, drinks - just everything. A well oiled and organized staff that leaves you wanting for nothing. We were immediately seated, orders were taken, food delivered and bussed with no lag time. Friend and I both ordered the arugula, cilantro, pear and goat cheese salad. Just yum. Definitely check it out.

Amy D.

Yelp
Popped in for lunch. Our server was fantastic and very helpful. Cheese curds and fried pickles were fire! Definitely recommend. This was the half order and it was huge. Chicken club was delish. Pizza pretty tasty. Asked for a side of jalapenos, which they grilled, a nice surprise. The Kale salad was shared so this is just a half. Simple and perfect! Can't speak to their beer but their margarita was light and refreshing. A wonderful, casual spot with something for everyone.

Kevin W.

Yelp
Used to come here for lunch and was always good, but the seafood basket was not great tonight and just a mediocre experience. Better choices on the island imo.

Kyle J.

Yelp
Keep this in mind: I'm from Austin, TX. Now going down to South Padre Island and getting a flight this big for $12.50 is unheard of. I can't stress enough how good the beer was, and the happy hour food was nothing to scoff at either. If you're looking for a good time at a brewery, and not a bar, I would definitely come here!

Chris U.

Yelp
Great food and drinks, we got to sample a new beer before getting a draft, which we really appreciated. The person that took our order did a great job being fast and friendly. We ordered pizza with vegan cheese and the pizza tasted so good, doughy and filling which we liked! The ambiance was a little low key, so this could be a great spot for people that are just trying to catch a football game and eat great food!

Heidi M.

Yelp
The fish in the fish & chips is huge but delicious! Our server was very good and made sure we had everything. If you want a quiet place to eat this is not it. He enjoyed the spirited atmosphere especially during a football night.

Celso M.

Yelp
My gf is a huge fan of breweries so we definitely had to stop by padre island brewery on this trip. She really liked the tidal wave and the blonde beer, not sure what it was called . Food wise we ordered a 5 topping pizza, the grilled chicken sandwich, cheese curds, and fried pickles. I must say everything hit the spot.

Nolan S.

Yelp
A quick Yelp search for local beer and Padre Island Brewing showed up! I stopped in here on a day off to try their brews. The place is pretty big inside and they may have rooftop patio seating! There were several TV's showing sports ball. They also have a good menu with tasty bites. I went with the nachos. My fellow bar patrons were friendly and talkative. The wait staff were... ok. Overall it was a great experience!

Tracy O.

Yelp
What a great place!! Our waiter had excellent recommendations on the beer. His descriptions were spot on. All were very good, but my favorite was the Raspberry Wheat. Food was delicious as well. The fried calamari and blackened fish tacos were very fresh. We would come again in a heartbeat.

Mary M.

Yelp
The calamari was to die for. The service was friendly and attentive Good all around

Ryan Q.

Yelp
Fresh and tasty meal. Really well rounded restaurant with a diverse selection of beers and food. Incredible service and such a sweet addition of a chocolate covered strawberry for Mother's Day. Great place to celebrate!

Joshua M.

Yelp
This place was honestly great. Not sure where the bad reviews are coming from. Our server was so attentive and kind. He was extra careful to ensure our 3 year old didn't burn herself on a hot plate and engaged her in placing her own order. Always had full drinks, prompt and attentive but not overbearing or rushed. Far better service than other places we tried on SPI and better than many other much more expensive restaurants we've been to in recent memory. Anyway, besides the service, the food was wonderful. We loved the fried cheese curds and fried pickles combo! I got the Texas burger, med-rare, awesome huge burger. Wife had a good burger as well, though med-well was a bit more done than desired, medium would have been better for her taste. Garlic mashed potatoes a great side! Oh and the pale ale, basically an IPA was surprisingly top notch. Anyway, I'd come check it out. We'll be back next time we visit.

Kathryn R.

Yelp
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS PLACE!!!! Hands down has one of the very best burgers on the island!!!!! The Texas burger with blue cheese crumble is the freaking best!!!! Service is always awesome love the ambience as well !!!

Tony B.

Yelp
Go. Pay attention - pI'm a proud beer snob. Get the pizza and craft beer. The Wheat ale is spot on, and so is the Speckled Trout Stout. I wish they had the Bock but it was out of season. Non-beer snobs. Your family will be happy as long as you don't sit there and have them waiting on you to finish your beers. My Wife had chicken, and my daughters had a po-boy and hamburger - no complaints. The pizza crust is really, really good. I really thought the decor was cool; Homemade paintings of beer, old beer signs from a forgotten era, 80's music and looking around, I'd probably get along with everyone and have good conversation, but I'm on Vacation so fam time it is. If I lived here, I'd be here regularly. So, I'll finish like I started... Go :)

Monica G.

Yelp
First of all, I love breweries they feel like home We came into SPI over the weekend and stopped in on Friday evening. I ordered a flight, pretzel (not pictured) it was a little small but tasted good. Our waiter was very nice and attentive, she was helpful with the happy hour menu. We will be back again hopefully next year to enjoy more beer & order food off the menu!

Jessica M.

Yelp
Great place for a quick bite. Happy hour has great deals from 2-6pm! Service was friendly and accommodating. Parking was a bit difficult but only because they were doing construction and you couldn't get to the back parking lot.

Aldo S.

Yelp
Best bar food in the island. I wish someone would try to tel one other wise. And if any one can prove me wrong. Get ready to catch paper.

Tracy M.

Yelp
We were able to catch the tail end of happy hour here. We got $3 pints and split a pizza. We try breweries often and this one was pretty good. They had about 5-6 craft brews. I sampled the Bock, husband sampled an IPA. We ultimately went for a golden ale. Our service was good. The ambiance wasnt what we expected. We were seated in center of the room. Felt more like a family restaurant set up than a brewery. I get it- we are at a tourist location. Just a different vibe here..

Corey F.

Yelp
Great food and great service. Had the blackened yellowfin tuna which was awesome. Also had the brownie for desert which came with 2 scoops of vanilla ice cream.

Suzanne C.

Yelp
First of all, the service here is great. We were here in a Friday on a holiday weekend and we were greeted as soon as we walked in. Not a huge beer selection it that is because they concentrate on their product and do a great job. We had the stuffed mushrooms for an appetizer, mixed fried seafood basket and create your own pizza. The pizza was delicious. I chose pesto with mozzarella, shrimp, onions and garlic. It was outstanding. The fried basket was everything you could hope for with fresh seafood. The beers we had were the Kemp's Ridley bock and the Speckled Trout Stout and the Padre Island Pale Ale. The stand out was the stout. Low ABV and lots of flavor. Good music playing while we dined as well. The service tho, that is the first standout for this restaurant. After that, everything falls into place. I really enjoyed

Sheldon A.

Yelp
I came in after work to try the beer and for food. I wound up ordering appetizers, calamari and ceviche. Both were good but I wish there was more of the ceviche, especially given the amount of chips. The beer was good, there was just a limited selection. The service was great so I would definitely come back.

Curt C.

Yelp
Padre kinda day! This brewery is the only local brewery in town, so it's the best on the island! The food wasn't all that great. Everything tasted like it had been frozen, thawed over, and deep fried. It's typical pub fare. They've got a large kitchen back there, I wish they'd do some more imaginative and fresher options. The glassware wasn't quite clean, and they were out of a couple of their limited selection of beers. They didn't have any out of the ordinary styles of beers. Nothing that's wild fruits, or a local flavor. They had fun names, but no fun flavors. Just kolsh, porter, amber, etc. This brewery is large! They have a whole upstairs and a patio, and there's lots of space to spread out. The decor is retro looking beer ads, which is pretty sweet. The staff was friendly, we were served promptly and in a welcoming manner. We got a great seat by the bar, and could watch all the drinks go by. This place does a healthy happy hour!

David M.

Yelp
Padre Island Brewing offers homemade brews bar and gulf food. They have a happy hour Monday-Friday sadly nothing on the weekends. The place was busy for a Sunday afternoon but we found a place at the bar. Our bartender was nice and the service we got was great. I found the prices to be a little high I went to nice steak and seafood restaurant later that night and found the oysters were cheaper at the seafood and steakhouse. I got an order of the gulf oysters and crab cakes. The gulf oysters were huge! They even gave us one extra one and the oysters had plenty of meat, it comes with both cocktail sauce and horseradish. The crab cakes were absolutely delicious as well came with tater sauce and you get two and they are decent size portion. Padre brewing is a great place to checkout for an afternoon snack or drink.

Donna G.

Yelp
The craft beer wasn't what I expected, service was ok. This was our 330 brewery so we have an idea about craft beer. We left beer on the table.

Blade S.

Yelp
As a beer lover I always try and drink local when traveling. Wife and I ate dinner here and I ordered the taster flight so I could sample all beer offerings at once. Food was better than expected and plentiful. Beers were average across the board. Not bad but not anything I'd crave to have again. All the ABV's were surprisingly high for a warm weather brewery. Menu prices were on par with everything else on SPI. Our server was friendly and efficient. We ate at one of the outdoor tables as inside was very loud at 6pm. Beware of the "credit card fee" they add on if you pay by card. Silly thing to do if a business cares about building repeat business or ensuring their serving staff's tips are not negatively impacted. Worth visiting once to see if the beers are up your alley.

Matthew T.

Yelp
Incredible pizza. Really actually incredible. Hard to find in the rgv. Steve was our server. Wholesome man who was super attentive and really good at what he does but a pleasure to talk to. Great outdoor spot. Love this place. Best pizza maybe in a 4 hour radius.

Steve W.

Yelp
After three years, I thought it would be a good time to update my review. Even in October, it's a bustling place. There have been a couple of negative yelp reviews during that time. which made me focus a little more on the experience. The dinner salads that came out were fresh and flavorful. They had a great special going where you could get a pitcher of Oktoberfest for $10. The service was prompt and attentive. We all enjoyed our entrées, but I have to admit the Texas burger was truly something every burger aficionado needs to try. It's possible, they may get things wrong from time to time, but on my trip here everything was on par. This place is still a great value for the money with decent beer. I added some additional pictures to round out the review.

Shawn V.

Yelp
We've been here quite a few times in the past - it's one of those places on the island that's 'there' so you find you way back. The food is pretty good - not great but good enough that we go back. Service is hit and miss -- sometimes good, sometimes not. We stopped in on a Wednesday at 6:30 pm and were surprised how crowded it was. We had a bit of a wait for our table but nothing unreasonable. Our server was friendly. We started off with the beer-battered onion rings which are ginormous and really good. My wife ordered the beer-battered fish with garlic mash potatoes and fries and I ordered the beer-battered fish and jumbo shrimp with coleslaw and garlic mash potatoes. When the food came out I immediately noticed that the fish and shrimp were not beer battered. Thankfully it wasn't the super coarse cornmeal that too many places use, but it was definitely not beer-battered. We asked our server and she said she would ask (we never did get a response). Although not what we were expecting, it was still prepared well and had a good flavor and texture, so we were okay with it. I asked for malt vinegar (to put on my fish) from the guy who brought our food out but we never did get any. The garlic mashed potatoes were excellent - not overpowering - just right both in flavor and texture. The coleslaw was also good - not great - but far better than a lot of places that serve coleslaw. We ordered New York cheesecake and a slice of pie (with ice cream on the side for the pie) to take back to the condo for later in the evening. The cheesecake was perfect. A very slight hint of cinnamon and perfect in texture and taste. The apple pie was - okay - nothing to write home about but not bad either. I have no doubt we will make our way back on our next visit as we try to mix in new places with 'comfortable' places.

Danny C.

Yelp
This is a very much an eat place as opposed to brewery place. They've got five standard beers. A pils, blonde, wheat, pale, and a stout. They're all pretty good is my guess but I'm a pale ale dude so...but we got some food too. Tried the ribs, chicken strips n fries n the cheese curds and fried pickles! The food...meh! Really not awesome! I wish I could say differently but our server was Chelsea and she was cool AF! If you come here ask for her!

Belinda C.

Yelp
Great food wonderful service from Max! My favorite is the ahi tuna sheshimi style!! Great adult beverages from a great bartender Max!

R L.

Yelp
Stopped in for a cold beer on this 100 degree day and it was so good came back 2 days later for happy hour The bartender Max was great very helpful in telling us about the island and other places to see. The food was good and the place was clean

Leslie R.

Yelp
Ok, it's been a bit. 3 years maybe. Time to go back. It's 5:15 pm. It's right out where anybody and everybody sees it. Thought it might be a good time to go. Hummmmm. Not! 5 or 5:30 looks to be a better idea. And please don't let them seat you in the middle of the dining room. The bartender finally came to take our order. I guess we look like, "They're easy, we'll get to them soon.‍" And now to the real stuff. The Blonde was GOOD. The food was GOOD. My patience was not good. Go with a better attitude than mine, but go with my appetite, cause it was worth it. ‍

Tammy W.

Yelp
Foods very good I had the buffalo wings awesome my husband had the ribs he said he had better service was excellent we were in out really quick the menu has lots on it for just about everyone

Teri P.

Yelp
The guacamole had no taste to it. It was very bland. The spinach salad was excellent. The ahi tuna was excellent. Service was great. All was good until they ILLEGALLY charged a fee for using a credit card. That is completely illegal in the state of Texas. Thanks for ruining what was otherwise an enjoyable dinner. We don't like fraudsters and we won't be back.

David V.

Yelp
Had the flight loved the Red amber and wave wheat. The food was not an award winning pizza and the server forgot to bring or appetizer. The brownie Sunday was hard. I went on a Monday place was dead. The speckled trout stout was awful. I was not impressed after hearing good things about the place.

Benni I.

Yelp
We recently visited Padre Island Brewing Company and had an outstanding experience! Each of us ordered different dishes, and every one of them was fantastic. The flavors were on point, and the quality of the food was impressive. The service was equally exceptional--inviting and attentive, with our drinks always kept full. We'll definitely be back!

Easton R.

Yelp
The food was mid, just your average fried shrimp, ordered a pitcher of their south padre island blonde. It came out flat, with no carbonation and tasted very below average. We received a new pitcher that came out and tasted slightly better. Watched the bartender pour and serve flat beers to other patrons. All had no head on them. Not very good for a BREWERY. Also there is a credit card charge that in the state of Texas is not lawful. It was only a 1.50 but still??? Chapter 604A of the Business and Commerce Code does, in fact, make it illegal for a business to impose a surcharge on customers who use credit cards. There is a civil penalty of up to $500 for each violation. Under the law, only state and local governments and some private schools can impose a surcharge. Thumbs downnnn

gina m.

Yelp
We like it here... our girls love the pizza and hubby loves the fish tacos. The nachos were good (could use a few extra chips). Only thing is we were asked 4 times to clear our plate when we NOT done... a little annoying but??? Overall, we continue to eat here because our girls eat well.

Sarah M.

Yelp
We really liked this place. The food was great. We tried the fried artichokes and pickles with cheese curds to start. So yummy! I got pizza, husband got shrimp and kids got shrimp and pasta. Everything was great.
