Breakfast: Rice Congee with Pork Balls
Dinner: Spareribs over Rice with Longan Juice
I was looking for a light meal for breakfast, and luckily Pae's Brass was right in front of me. The server was attentive and so cute. I ordered the rice congee with pork balls, accompanied by a splash of ginger and scallion. In Thai, this dish is called "JOKE" (I believe it's adopted from the Chinese ethnic language, but this isn't a history class. So let's dig in.)
The pork balls were soft and smooth, probably a bit too soft, haha! If you close your eyes while eating them, you might not even notice the pork ball—it's that soft! Fresh ginger and scallions added flavor and balance to the mildness of the rice soup. Overall, it was a good breakfast so far.
For dinner, I stopped by again, but the place was packed with many customers, and the buzz from online reviews was nonstop. I had my eye on the spareribs since morning, but I was too full. This was my chance to try them.
The spareribs were slow-cooked, and the meat practically fell off the bone as soon as you touched it. They were served with steamed Chinese broccoli and a super spicy Thai hot sauce on the side. It was delicious as well.
I made a mistake by ordering Longan juice. I should have chosen Chrysanthemum tea instead, considering that Longan is a hot fruit and Thailand's weather is scorching. It felt like having dinner in a steamer, haha!
