On the Grid : Paesano

"Paesano do the best pizza in the city. Sit-in or takeaway. The straight-forward menu has 8 speciality pizzas to choose from which are baked in two huge, wood-fired ovens at the back of the open plan restaurant. Caputo flour, Strianese tomatoes, olive oil and cheeses are imported from Italy. The pizza is handmade by Italian chefs and on your table in record time, perfectly baked and tastes like a real, authentic, doughy Neapolitan pizza." - Kenna

We were in a hurry. They sat us down straight away and served us straight away. Pizza arrived within 10 minutes and it was delicious. Their super hot sauce wasn't really that hot so dont be afraid of the skull. Give it a go. We also ordered cider which was decent.

Google
Best pizza I’ve ever had in my whole life. No words to describe. Went for a dinner and the next day I went again for a lunch before went back home. Amazing. My only advice would be to play Italian music, it would make the place even more unreal

Julia Latajka

Google
Super tasty pizza! We had to wait for a table but that was really fast. Great pizza with good dough. The only thing to improve would be service, they are too much in a hurry and didn’t give us any attention.

Kostas

Google
No words describe the quality of the pizza! They have amazing principles! Definitely competes original Italian places within Italy! A must visit, not only once! Amazing atmosphere, great and friendly staff! Extremely tasty original pizza!🍕

Google
It's one of my favourite places for having pizza the authentic way in Glasgow. They source their ingredients from Italy - you read it right. With the basic ingredients and the perfectly cooked oven pizza , it gives that authentic taste. Also has the best selection of desserts.

Zuhal

Google
Top-notch pizza with quality ingredients, baked in the wooden oven. Spacious place, cozy atmosphere, authentic vibes from Italy. Zero bloating afterwards. Reasonable price, clean restrooms, attentive service. And… instagrammable!

Google
Their pizzas are delicious in general. However, the one I ordered in my second visit was burnt. The waiter got me an exchange and it was great. I would come back for a third or fourth time when I’m in town.

Sarah Goodman

Google
Amazing, authentic pizza! Loved it so much that we went back a second time in one week! Gets very crowded and there is often a queue but we lucked out with a 5-minute wait the visit and about 15 minutes on Saturday night. Definitely worth the wait!

Yelp
Man this place is busy. Every table was packed - somehow we got in with a larger group. Service was quick thankfully. Pizzas come out pretty quickly surprisingly with the amount they make. Delicious and hot. Definite spot for dinner if you're in the area.

Yelp
Great flavors (the dough is delectable), good service, and the food comes out fast! Awesome vibe...saw a few signs that said, "no football colors," which seemed fitting for the day of the Celtics vs. Rangers match and made me feel even more immersed in the Scottish culture. For dessert we had the tiramisu, canolo, oyster, 99, and cappuccinos...all were hits!

Yelp
If you're looking for authentic Neapolitan Pizza, look no further! I've been to Naples Italy, and this pizza is almost identical! There's a reason the place is packed with a line out the door, even on a rainy afternoon! Lively atmosphere with quick service! Servers were helpful and attentive. We had the #8 & #10, both delicious but we made sure to save room for dessert! We finished off with their house made tiramisu and affogato which were both to die for! You can also visit their sister restaurant Sugo for pasta dishes with a similar atmosphere.

Yelp
What a fun restaurant full of energy and great food and service! We walked in around 5:30pm for dinner and were seated right away. Shortly after, the restaurant became packed. There's some tables for two and some for 4, so be prepared to share if it's busy and you have 2 or less in your party. They hand you menus that also pose as disposable placements. The menu is pretty simple and there's an assortment of drinks. We opted for a pizza per person and that was plenty of food. You can likely split one with a pizza and sides but then you miss out on variety! The sausage and fennel and spinach veggie are what we tried. They explain on the wall that their tomato sauce and cheese is sourced from Italy and they use a wood-fired oven. The dough is chewy and soft while the toppings taste fresh and good. I was very happy with the entire atmosphere - it's slightly loud with some music but not so bad that you can hear your table mates. The service was good and everything came in a timely manner. They seem to take good care of hygiene as well since I saw them wiping tables and things with disposable cloths.

Yelp
Paesano Pizza lived up to its hype! The crust is so tasty and great flavors in their pies. It was quite busy and there was a little bit of a wait but it is well worth it! Great selection of beers and wine. When back in Glasgow, I know where I'm going.

Yelp
We found this place while walking around Glasgow and we were tired & famished. And good lord was it the best decision ever? We stumbled upon this place on a recent vacation to Glasgow. Food & Drinks: The best Neapolitan Pizza I have eaten. Their dough was soft, fresh & comforting the toppings were warm, it was like poetry. They have a huge selection of pizzas and also choice of extra toppings. We went with one of their classics because we didn't want to tweak the originals. Great pizza, and awesome beer. Not much more you can ask for. Service: We walked in hence had to wait around 20 minutes which wasn't bad for the crowd at this place. Our server took longer than usual to take our order though but hey no complaints after the pizza they served. In all: I wish I lived in Glasgow. Ever since coming back to the USA after my vacation, I have only been looking for Neapolitan pizza.

Yelp
The only pizza we had in Glasgow, but it held up to anything you'd get in Italy, and w better service. Friendly and prompt servers, hot oil on all the tables and the best Neapolitan pies! Totally authentic in all ingredients and ovens used . Don't walk , run to Paisanos for your next pizza. It gets really jammed on weekends bes to arrive early .

Yelp
World-class pizza worth every minute of the (inevitable) wait. Blown away by the hospitality and the quality on a September visit. Food is ultra-fast, fresh, and beautiful.

Yelp
This place was fabulous. The food is so amazing! The ambiance is lively and busy. The service is good they take a little while to come back but that's the Italian way. We loved it and would definitely recommend.

Gary B.

Yelp
Ate here on a Friday night -- it was very busy but that wait was not long. They know how to handle big crowds. Pizza was delicious, and came out quickly. Highly recommend Paesano!

Yelp
3 times I've been in the last 2 months, 3 times I've been impressed! Slightly over-rated for 'what it is', but objectively good pizza!

Yelp
What a find. We were craving a pizza for dinner and ended up here. Fresh ingredients from Italy are used, and the pizza was outstanding. Reminded us exactly how the pizza was when we visited Italy.

Yelp
A great wood-fired oven spot that was humming on a Monday night in downtown Glasgow. The place was packed yet the service was quick and friendly. A pizza-forward menu but if you're not looking for pizza then you did not understand the assignment.

Yelp
Good pizza and good place. Taste was good just doesnt meet my standard of awesome neapolitan pizza though. I have tried better ones. My standard for pizza is very high, and sadly sorry to say that it did not meet my expectation. Everything was good just not for me. Price is good too all pizzas for single digit. Cheers!

Yelp
Bellisimo! Good pro to service. Great pizza Best in the Sitty Senter [city centre]

Roberta G.

Yelp
Such good pizza! We came here twice. And a shout out to the manager who saw us pick up some trash left by a few thoughtless youths and immediately found us a table as a reward!
google avatar

Emily W.

Yelp
Great Neapolitan style pizza and a casual atmosphere - they even have a vegan option!

Robert N.

Yelp
Overall, great. Ingredients are fresh, really cool location and the staff are friendly. My only (minor) criticism is that the middle of the pizza seemed a bit undercooked and soggy, and the crust could be a bit flakier. I had the spianata spicy sausage w/ tomato sugo, mozzarella, and EVOO. Great price! Would return.
google avatar

Yelp
Very nice ambience , good food .my only only consideration is that I would love to be able to try more pizza Flavors so I would recommend smaller pizzas to be able to order more per person per night
google avatar

Willemijn F.

Yelp
I think at this point everybody knows Paesano has the best pizzas around. I keep coming back here because the pizzas are so fresh, the staff is lovely, service is fast and they're so well priced. My personal favourite is the number 8 with no tomato sauce, but they're all incredible! The sides are very good too, definitely try the burrata and the artichokes as they will not disappoint. Their house wines are very tasty too and if you have room left for dessert, their soft serve is amazing.

Yelp
Came here off a friend's recommendation who loves this place and comes here every time he comes to Glasgow. In fact, I think this is the only place he eats in Glasgow. Anyway, we came here for lunch on a weekend and it was quite packed, got seated immediately and handed menus. I clarified that their prosciutto is not the "normal" prosciutto but actually more like ham, and so I got spicy salami. The moment I took a bite of the crust, I already immediately enjoyed it - so fluffy and chewy, delicious. The spicy olive oil was of such high quality as well, really can taste it. My friend asked for normal olive oil and the super spicy olive oil, both were great too. The super spicy one was actually really spicy. My only complaint is that the middle of the pizza was a bit soggy, but the flavors of everything was great - tomatoes, salami, olive oil, delicious crust. Fairly priced too at around £8-11 per (huge) pizza, service was friendly too. I liked it so much that I actually came back for dinner the same day since I was leaving the next day and I tried their sausage pizza, which was equally delicious. Definitely recommend this spot!

Yelp
Being from the USA, I wasn't expecting much from pizza in Scotland, but they had great reviews so we gave it a shot. It may have been the best pizza I've ever had. The sauce is simple and lets the tomato be the star. The crust was done perfectly, well cooked but not tough. And the cheese...well, I can't say I'll be back because it's kind of a long trip, but thanks for the wonderful experience.

Yelp
Incredibly slick. This is how to run a business. Every member of staff knows exactly what they are doing and it is a very impressive sight. Pizzas probably the best in the city and great value. Clean, happy, great vibe. Absolutely love it.

Yelp
This pizza is simply fantastic. I still can't believe we found such great pizza pie in Glasgow, of all places. The crust is baked just right, doughy soft and light. All the pie options are delicious. Wait service is a bit slow, but albeit friendly. But the space is huge, you don't wait too long for a table and the pizza is simply delicious. Plus, it's really reasonably priced. Protips: -Ask for olive oil to drizzle on your pie/dip your extra crust in -Skip the desserts Well done, Glasgow. This New Yorker thanks you for having some of the best pizza I've ever tasted in my life.

Yelp
The real deal and cheap. Look man, ima keep it real with you. You need to hit this place up if you're within 20 miles of the city of Glasgow. When it comes to authentic Napolitiano pizza, this is it. This is the pinnacle of it. When I tell you this is the best Italian style(emphasis on Italian style, because Detroit, Chicago and NYC have great pizza) I have ever had, I mean it. And it's extremely cheap too. Perfect for uni students. Used to walk up here all the time from Glasgow uni.

Yelp
This place is totally a must in Glasgow! I think I am definitely not the only one who completely fall in love with the pizzas they serve. In other words : I recommand you to book a table in advance if you do not want to be tortured by waiting too much time, sating on a bench with some tasty smells of pizzas! Moreover : the pizza base is just PERFECT, and the staff is impeccable.

Yelp
Known for its pizza and ambience, Paesano is one of the best places to visit, to have authentic Italian pizzas that are made in an artisanal manner. We visited the restaurant on a Sunday evening and it was pretty crowded. The restaurant, I am told does not take online reservations and you've to drop by to book a place. Even though the place was pretty crowded, we were seated within 10 minutes as promised. A few highlights: 1) Dough made in house. If you sit at the end of the restaurant, you can actually see the dough being freshly made. 2) All the ingredients are from Maples and are Italian in every way. 3) Do ask for the dessert of the day. You'll be surprised by the variety they've to offer you. 4) Great staff, who are polite and friendly. All over great service. If I have to mention anything irk worthy, I would probably say that the extra charge for oregano and chilli flakes was a bit of a surprise. All over would definitely visit the place again and would recommend others to too!

Yelp
Delicious pizza, friendly service and reasonable prices. What more could you ask for. We will be back soon.

Yelp
I'd eat here every night if I could. Great food, very good service, busy, buzzing place. Pizzas are reasonably priced, and really are something special. Combination of private tables and big community tables. Very simple menu, just a few different pizzas, but top quality ingredients, a killer pizza dough, fresh sauces, judicious quantities of quality cheeses, quality meats, and a wood fired oven. Place is busy, especially at peak dinner times on the weekends. Weekdays are better, but still busy. Even if it takes a while to get a seat, it is well worth it. I'll be back soon.

Yelp
So back in March I took part in the Yelp Pizza Battle and was left confused by Paesano. I didn't really get it. Fast forward to September and now I totally do. This pizza is da bomb yo. Clearly Paesano is a place to be, as after a couple of failed ventures, I, along with a friend, managed to get a walk in table. There is a lovely buzz and it's hard not to enjoy the giant restaurant name in lights on the wall and the over blazing away towards the back. The menu is refreshingly simple and the pizza toppings likewise. Less is more in Paesano and I like that. Whilst perusing the menu we each had a bottle of Messina, nothing that different to the others on offer but new to me nonetheless and a nice nod to Paesano's Italian roots. We ordered some olives to nibble on and they were quite like no olives I've ever had. Almost melting in the mouth with a burst of butter and olive oil, they took a bit of getting used to but were demolished by the end of dinner. On to the pizza and for me it had to be the Tuscan fennel sausage and if you don't upgrade to buffalo mozzarella then clearly you hate making smart choices, it's a little bit extra but totally worth it. The tomato sauce is sweet and is like no other pizza I've had in Glasgow and the crust like bread pillows of slightly charred heaven cast down from above all topped off with bursts of generously scattered fennel sausage. Pizza good. Beer good. Olives good. Atmosphere good. Price good. Paesano, blooming marvellous, can't wait for an excuse to go back.

Yelp
We came here while on vacation and we were blown away. While we were only in Glasgow less than 72 hours, but we ate here twice. The service was fast and the pizzas were phenomenal. I ordered the ricotta on my second visit, and I'm only heartbroken to know that I will never have ricotta of such quality in the US. If ever I'm in Glasgow again, I will go out of my way to come back to Paesano Pizza.
google avatar

Ada C.

Yelp
Wow. I ended up getting a pizza to eat cold on a train back to London. The dough was toothsome and perfectly cooked. I loved the mouthfeel. I got the spinach, mushroom, mozzarella and ricotta pizza which was excellent. Delicious!
google avatar

Yelp
What an operation! 2 wood ovens cranking out, according to our server, "well over 1000" pies every night. At first thought we wouldnt get a table but the turnover here is fast. Our pizza came as ordered in a few minutes. Wham! I eat pizza all over the world but also on New Haven's Wooster Street and in Brooklyn, in Manhattan and you name it. This is a fine pie Napoletano. Head off to 94 Miller St. and go wild!

Yelp
We had a party of 10 people on a Friday early evening and the restaurant was VERY busy - we asked if they'd manage to fit us in and they said maybe in around 40mins so we went to another bar to get a drink and returned to a whole 10 seats together! A miraculous achievement if you've ever seen this place on a Friday night. The waitresses were attentive and we were served quickly. I had the anchovy pizza and it was definitely one of the best pizzas I've ever had. Light, crispy crust, just the right amount of toppings and really tasty. I also had ice cream covered in raspberry sauce which was a bit of a flashback to childhood ice cream van experiences so I was pleased! Definitely one of the best pizza places in Glasgow!
google avatar

Michael B.

Yelp
Our last meal in good ol' Glasgow, through preceded reputation alone, was wood-fired pizza in this sprawling palace of dough. We had no problem being seated as it's one of the biggest pizzerias I've ever seen, but it was nicely bustling with diners on a Sunday afternoon. Service was pleasant and efficient throughout, we were well taken care of. I liked how there weren't dozens of pizza options - they offer eight and you were confident they make them very well. And so it proved to be. Large and delicious, though not overwhelming. Fairly decent bottled beer selection (or get a free soft drink if you check in on the Yelp app). We've a small number of mighty-fine pizza makers in Manchester - these guys would do well here as well, most definitely.
google avatar

Lee S.

Yelp
Not sure what can be said here that hasn't already highlighted how fab Paesano is! For me it's the best pizza in Glasgow. Generally the unwritten rule, if you can't book its usually a good sign. However don't let the no reservations put you off as the tables turn around really quickly, and the 3 times I have been here recently I have had to wait maximum 10mins. Longer actually than it took to bring my pizza. The staff are friendly, great service and you don't feel rushed at all. It's simple casual dining, with a small menu - 8 pizza's on offer. The pizza takes a short time to cook. It is so thin, fresh and the crust reminded me more of a nan bread. This meant it was perfect for dooking in the chilli oil. Be warned it is pretty spicy, but of so good!! I will defo keep returning back to Paesano time and time again to try each of their pizzas. I have now sampled the basic tomato sugo, garlic, oregano and evoo. Roasted red pepper with spinach, tomato sugo, mozzarella and evoo. Prosciutto cotto with mushrooms. So only another 5 to go!! They also have daily special written up on the wall, pizzas and deserts. So I would really recommend heading here if you havent been already, it certainly wont disappoint!
google avatar

Alex B.

Yelp
Pizza? Glasgow? I know, right?! The pizza is ridiculous. The crust is a perfect doughy texture and all the ingredients are dead on. The restaurant seats a ton of people. Service is a tad slow; friendly and helpful though. Once your order is placed it takes 10 minutes or less to get your pizza. All the food is priced reasonably. This pizza beats anything I had in Italy. Seriously. Extra: Get/Use the spicy oil!
google avatar

Bori A.

Yelp
Seeing the Yelp reviews and knowing what other fellow Yelpers said about the place, my expectations were very high. Luckily enough, Paesano lived up to these expectations. Their pizza is simply perfect, the from the crispy, thin dough to the tomato base to any of the toppings. The selection is not large, but I think this is what it takes to make sure that anything you pick from the menu will be delicious. The waiters are nice and the service is quick. I also love the atmosphere of the place, it is not easy to make such a large venue look friendly, but i think the guys at Paesano have managed it. I think I found a place to take my friends from other parts of the world to, should they finally decide to visit me. This is it.
google avatar

Mimmi R.

Yelp
Best pizza in Glasgow, hands down. I'm a bit hesitant with giving 5 stars to places I've only been to once, but I think Paesano deserves it. I went for dinner with my mum back in June, and I've been wanting to go back ever since (but haven't had the chance, sadly). They don't offer a vegan cheese, but they do have a vegan pizza without cheese, i.e. the marinara. I had the marinara and added spinach and sun-dried tomatoes to it, but honestly it didn't need it. I do like my vegan cheese pizzas once in a while, but the marinara at Paesano is proof that pizza is definitely not necessary to make a pizza delicious. The crust is nice and thin with soft and fluffy edges, just like it should be. The sauce was amazingly flavoursome, in all its simplicity. It was massive, but I still managed to devour most of it. The place itself is nice and big, and was buzzing even on a Tuesday evening. Since it is a large space with a high ceiling it does get a little bit loud, but it didn't bother me at all. I loved the social, laid-back feel of the place. The waiters were very friendly, and despite it being quite busy the service was really quick.
google avatar

Katie B.

Yelp
We went back again for dinner with friends. This time I asked for my pizza to be cooked crispy and with extra garlic. Oh.my.goodness. SOOOOOOO GOOD! Seriously, run - don't walk. Get there early so you don't have to wait for a table, and pace your stomach. Save room for dessert! Everyone in our group ordered dessert and it was fantastic. We had cones with chocolate sauce, cones with raspberry sauce, and the 99 (a cone with a flake in it). The ice cream is the perfect conclusion to the best pizza you can find in Glasgow. This place is quickly becoming a staple in my dining schedule. Try it out!
google avatar

Mairead M.

Yelp
This was my second visit to Paesano, and I really enjoyed it! The space is a lot bigger than you first expect, and has lots of long tables through the middle with a mixture of benches and chairs. The menu is pretty straight forward, pizzas with a handful of sides and a separate dessert menu (which I haven't tried yet! May need to visit again soon then...). This time I decided to go for the pizza with prosciutto, mushroom and buffalo mozzarella (buffalo mozzarella is a £1.50 upgrade, definitely worth it). The toppings are really generous and incredibly tasty. My pizza was quite soggy, but I think that may have been due to the large quantity of mozzarella - so not necessarily a complaint! We also ordered a side of olives which are SO GOOD and a steal for £2. One slight irritant is that they don't offer any sort of dips - there is chilli oil on the table (vvv spicy chilli oil!) but nothing else. My sister asked for mayonnaise and was a bit annoyed to be told they didn't have any! Maybe it's sacrilege to put mayo on a pizza, but kind of annoying there's no alternative or option. Drinks wise, there's not a huge list but definitely enough! The beer is reasonably priced, but we went for a glass of prosecco which was a fiver. This may be a daft thing to find annoying, but I don't know when it became 'cool' to serve prosecco or wine in little tumblers?! I'm maybe not 'hip' enough to appreciate prosecco in a tumbler, but I think I'd rather a glass! #picky With regards to the service, it is pretty speedy and everyone was polite. It's definitely a place I'll be back to to try a few more pizzas and hopefully a dessert!

Yelp
The pizza here is AMAZING! Anyone passing through should definitely give this place a try. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Atmosphere was busy but chill too.
google avatar

David R.

Yelp
Could and should be 5 star. But I'll explain my reasons for dropping a star later in the review. Atmosphere is very laid back, with benches. Ideal for going with a group of friends. It's pizza joint that does good food fast. Do not come here expecting a fine dining intimate experience. It was perfect for our occasion of pre gig food and drinks. To start we had Olives to share between 3 of us, they were big and fleshy although lacked a little bit of a punch. The order was taken and pizza delivered to us in less than 5 minutes. The oven must be insanely hot. I went for the spicy salami, this was almost a 5 star pizza, the crust delicious, crisp yet chewy and full of flavour, the toppings fresh and tasty BUT the pizza didn't hold its shape well. Whether it's because it was ever so slightly undercooked or because of the fresh ingredients on the base I felt the middle of the pizza, which turns out to be the first bite you take of a slice was too soft and moist and led to pizza droop. When I come again I would ask for it to be kept in the oven a fraction more to make it slightly more crisp to see if that solves the issue. Wine should be served in wine glasses NOT TUMBLERS. I'm not a big fan of social trends that are less enjoyable than traditional methods. This is one of those trends that 'gets my goat'. Really reasonable 3 pizzas, olives to share, bottle of red wine and a can of San Pellegrino juice £43.

Yelp
Finally! I was starting to feel like the only person in Glasgow who hadn't tried Paesano, Glasgow's newest and most-talked about pizza place. I was off the train from Manchester and with just a short walk, I was in the toasty warm Paesano (those pizza ovens aren't just for cooking). I like the relaxed vibe of this place and the decor - it's casual, there's long sharing tables and chatty staff. The menu is your placemat and there isn't a lot of choice - they keep the menu short and simple. It might not appeal to everyone though, so if you're with someone who is used to more British-pizza, they might want to know where all the extra toppings area. I ordered the tomato sugo pizza with capers, olives, anchovies, garlic and upgraded for £1.50 to buffalo mozzarella. We didn't have to wait long before the delicious looking pizzas arrived to the table - perfectly puffed crust with a nice smattering of toppings and a pizza cutter on the table. I really enjoyed my pizza, the mixture of toppings was really lovely and the anchovy in particular was some of the most flavoursome anchovy I've ever tried. Because of the tomato sugo it is a little wet in the middle and might be hard to pick up to eat - just shove it in your face in one go is probably the best option. I couldn't eat my whole pizza but loved what I did have, you definitely don't need sides unless you're absolutely starving. I had a glass of wine while I was there too which was served in the same cups as the water (a tumbler) which was quite nice. They did initially forget my order so they gave it to me for free which was completely unnecessary but a nice touch. Our bill came to about £15 each which was very reasonable for the pizza and drinks. I can't wait to go back - this place is amazing. Note: they don't take bookings. Toilets are downstairs.

Yelp
I had to come here twice, as the first time I was here I'd had a few drinks, and was at the stage where anything would have tasted amazing! Luckily, my sober visit confirmed what I suspected, that this is a really, really good place to go for pizza. What's great is that it's quick without being fast food, busy without being impossible to get a table, cheap without being nasty, and casual but not lazy. It uses the space well, with a load of different sized tables meaning that any size group can get a table without much hassle, and is laid out in such a way that you're not on top of the other folk that are there. It also looks nice, and has an atmosphere without being overpoweringly noisy. The staff are also pretty friendly, and service is pretty speedy considering how many people are there. The pizzas are the main attraction though, and they are fantastic. A good size (10 inch?), which means you can get through one without feeling overly full, they aren't packed with toppings, but the ones that are there are so full of flavour that you don't really notice. For example, I had the chorizo special, which on first look wasn't hugely covered in toppings, but the pizza tasted amazing, and I definitely didn't feel short changed. All of this is served on a great base pizza, which for me has the right consistency (a decent amount of dough but still pretty thin), crispiness (actually quite soft, but you can still hold a pice without all of the topping sliding off, and eating a full pizza won't rip the top of your mouth off) and tomato base. The desserts are great as well, and are well worth keeping some space for. There are traditional soft scoop ice creams, as well as some specials that are worth a look. As far as city centre pizza places go, this is probably the top of the pile, I really can't think of anywhere that competes with this.

Yelp
This has quickly became one of my favourite places in Glasgow to grab a quick bite. Although the design of the restaurant is quite basic, I love the open kitchen and there's always a nice vibe around the place. The focus here is primarily on the food and it shows. They offer a selection of around 8 or 9 pizzas, with additional daily specials, and a small number of side dishes. Having been a few times, I have tried a number of the pizzas but my favourite is definitely the Salami one. Although it is simple, the quality and freshness make this place stand out from other pizza places in Glasgow. Service is always quick (although not always the friendliest) and you could be in and out in less than an hour. I definitely recommend this place if you haven't paid a visit yet.

Yelp
Want to try what just might be the best pizza in Glasgow? Of course you do. So I'd recommend getting yourself down to Paesano as quickly as possible. I ambled in with a group of 5 other desperately hungry Yelpers a couple of weekends ago on the recommendation of Rocco G and his tip was right on the mark. First up it was great that they were able to sit 6 of us immediately at 7ish on a Saturday night. That might normally lead to questions about the quality of the food but in this case is due to the size of the place and the speed of the service (more on that later). Once we were seated all eyes were on the menu as we wanted to order quickly. The menu is simple, offering 8 pizzas (along with a couple of daily specials) and a few sides (definitely try the balsamic onions), so it didn't take us long to decide. The pizza choices are also relatively simple, with only one or two toppings on each, but I'm not one for overloading a pizza and prefer something straightforward where the ingredients speak for themselves. I decided on the pizza with spicy salami and a pint of draught Moretti. Like the food menu the drinks options aren't extensive but there's a reasonable choice of wine and beer. Now began the wait for the food we all wanted so badly..... I've can genuinely say I've rarely been as happy and surprised to see my food arrive hardly 5 minutes later. Apparently their traditional Italian wood-fired ovens cook the pizzas in only 90secs. Joy! The pizza itself was delicious, a perfectly crispy on the outside, soft on the inside base (with those lovely slightly charred spots you get on a properly cooked pizza) and simple but high-quality toppings. The salami was, indeed, pretty spicy but also super tasty. Not for the faint hearted! I also tried a bit pizza with the fennel sausage which was also fantastic and I think what I'll order on my next visit. Even though we were all pretty stuffed after our pizza a few of us couldn't resist the call of ice cream for desert. The choices are simple here again with the options mainly vanilla ice cream with a variety of sauces but there are daily specials here too. The ice cream with good and an ideal indulgence after the pizza. Sealing the deal on the 5 stars was the service, which was friendly and fast, and the prices which were incredibly reasonable for the quality of the food. All in all it was quite possibly the best pizza I've ever had outside of Italy and a great dining experience, I can't wait to go back! I shouldn't have written this hungry, I really want (Paesano) pizza now......

Yelp
Right, I'm going to jump on this little here bandwagon and say "hell yeah," that this is the darn finest pizza in all of Scotland! I love pizza me. In fact I'm a self confessed pizzaholic! It's a really sever condition which is no laughing matter. Basically if I don't get at least one good pizza fix a week I could go into deep withdrawal causing chronic agitation, hyperventilation and panic attacks. Until very recently there were no real fine pizzerias in Glasgow, except for the rather hit and miss Bella Napoli on the Southside of town, and it made me very sad indeed. La Favorita recently opened a few months before Paesano and I do love thier pizza, but, it is completely different to here. The great thing about Paesano is they actually truely succeed in making real Neapolitan style pizza. For a real taste of Napoli, think big soft crusts, nice charing, moist top and the best tomatoes and mozzarella on the planet. The key to a good pizza is simplicity and it should not (in my humble opinion) be tarnished with western style toppings. In Paesano you will find only toppings used in Italy. No chicken, beef, pineapple, spicy mince, haggis etc. Just traditional stuff like anchovy, cured meats, sausage, grilled veggies etc. This keeps everything authentic and you are much less likely to get a dud pizza. My first visit was great. I loved my salsiccia (sausage) Margherita and I knew just from the wonderful aromas as I walked in the door that it was gonna be great. Pizza lovers, this is where to get your fix in Glasgow and I know I will be getting my weekly dose of sweet medicine here :)
