The 38 Best Pittsburgh Restaurants - Eater

"You’ll scream for this ice cream — or at least you’ll scream when you see how long the line can get. Open since 1951, Page’s has the best soft serve in the Burgh. Stop down for their signature South Side, your choice of milkshake flavor with sundae toppings, or an Arctic Swirl (the shop’s McFlurry-like candy-filled shake) featuring cookies from local bakery Nancy B. Catch them between March and October every year." - Briana L White

Google
One of the best soft serve small-town-feel ice cream shops in the country. Ice cream is super creamy and super milky, think very heavy cream - And sweeter. It’s phenomenal. I can only think of one other ice cream place in my life that I’ve liked better. Vibe is like a small town ice cream shop, but done to utter extreme perfection. Overall, Pages is a pgh institution. A must visit for anyone.

Google
By far my favorite ice cream shop!! So many sundaes to choose from! So many ice cream flavors! They use local products for their ice cream creations! The line gets long, but goes pretty quick and while you are in line, the history of Page’s is on the building. Staff is always friendly too! A must if you’re in Pittsburgh!

Sagar

Google
Good ice cream. I tried only their twist soft serve on a waffle cone and it was good. Decent parking lot behind the location. A small queue with a 10 minutes wait. But I can't say it's the best unless I try more of their flavors and other menu items. What I tried, I enjoyed it!

Cameron

Google
Wow, what an incredible staple of Pittsburgh! The history is plastered all over the outside, which you will have time to see as the line can get very long, but trust me, it’s worth it. Their specialties are incredible, love that they use so many products from other local businesses, like the famed Nancy B Chocolate Chip cookies. They are somehow even better in their sundae, filled with warm chocolate syrup and soft serve. Really can’t go wrong with anything here, just make sure to try it at least once!

Mirabella S

Google
Cute and historic ice cream parlor that’s worth the wait! Although the line is often long and around the building, the workers move efficiently and are fairly friendly.. so the wait isn’t so bad (wait in line usually 30-40minutes) because everything is SO good. The prices are very reasonable for the amount of ice cream and toppings you get, around $8-9 for a Large Marge that includes brownies and cookies. Parking is a bit of a headache because it’s so crowded all the time but there is a lot with a spot available usually. I recommend everything! but especially the Large Marge! you could share it but I can finish it myself after waiting in line

Google
I have been going to this place for years! Everyone I bring here agrees it’s the best soft serve you will get in Pittsburgh and beyond. It’s creamy, they have unique toppings and flavors and the staff are the friendliest. It’s so popular that I have to wait in line for my ice cream from time to time now but happy they are doing so well with business and will happily wait. They truly deserve all the recognition.

Emily T.

Google
My friends and I heavily enjoy going to Page’s! I have never had a bad experience here, everything is wonderful, even the service! The employees always treat me with kindness and respect, such a great attitude here! You also can never go wrong with your order- arctic swirls, soft serve, hot dogs, and many more! Highly recommend giving Page’s a try if you are in Pittsburgh!

Dustin G.

Google
Amazing place! Literally the best ice cream place on the planet. You get those old school road side ice cream joint vibes here. Anything you choose will be delicious. My personal favorites are South Side Shakes, Nancy B Cookie Sundaes and don’t forget they have the best steak hoagies too! Edit: bring back French fries and the animal cookies Artic Swirl!

Yelp
6/28/25 Ate List: Cookie Dough Arctic Swirl - 9.3 Ice Cream Sandwich - 8.2 This might be the best ice cream (as a whole experience) I've ever had. You think ice cream and you want an old school shop, the neon lights, the ice cream that tastes like childhood. This spot checks all the boxes and somehow the ice cream tastes like the best one you remember from childhood. Arctic Swirls, blizzards, flurries, whatever you call it - their cookie dough Arctic swirl was amazing. One of the best I've ever had. The ice cream sandwich was perfectly chilled - not falling apart, not leaving the hands sticky. Flavor was perfection. Costs were a steal and frankly anything I've tried on the menu here makes me want to both explore the menu and never deviate from the amazing dish I know. The best problem to have. This institution is worth all the hype. Isn't summer in Pittsburgh without a stop here.
google avatar

Jack L.

Yelp
Yeah I get the hype - I think it's worth it, it's good ice cream. The parking situation under the bridge was bad, but not impossible. As soon as the weather got good, the line here instantly got long it seems. From start to finish on a Friday afternoon, it took about 40 minutes. It wasn't scorching hot with it being April at the time of this review, but I could totally see it being unbearable when it's summer. You don't get to see much of the shop from the outside and unfortunately, there is no inside for you. Ordering happened at a window, and you get to see the extremely extensive menu while you're looping around in line. It's honestly a bit overwhelming how many options you get, but fortunately you got the classics if you seem to panic when it's your turn. I got the cookies and cream and carrot cake soft serves in a cup which was about $7 each. Calling them soft, smooth, and silky would be an understatement. It's really great soft serve and the portion size is enormous. I honestly think it would have been better had we gotten one and split it with a friend. I'd definitely come here again to try out many of the other options they got.
google avatar

Amanda D.

Yelp
This feels like a Pittsburgh staple! Love that it's been around for so many years. Got to read the history on the back wall of the building while waiting in line. They have so many menu options including milkshakes, arctic swirls, and soft serve. People are not kidding about the long lines. Went close to end of season and there was still a 45 min wait. It went pretty fast though and my friend and I just talked to people in line! Staff were friendly and helpful when ordering. I got the strawberry chocolate arctic swirl. I really appreciate that they use really ingredients when making the arctic swirls! There's so many things on the menu I want to come back and try!
google avatar

Alexa C.

Yelp
After going back and forth between several different choices of sundaes, Arctic swirls, soft serve flavors, milkshakes, and other tasty treats, I landed on the pumpkin cheesecake swirl, part of Page's fall menu.
google avatar

Sara I.

Yelp
Go before they close for the fall (oct 13)! It's usually a long wait so go at a weird time haha we got the yinzer sundae and pb soft serve with hot fudge sauce :) the line goes pretty fast. Generous with toppings and they are always nice
google avatar

Jonathan A.

Yelp
Pa ked house at Page's today. I guess Sunday afternoon of Labor Day weekend is a popular day for ice cream. We waited about 30 minutes for a line wrapped around the building. Tried out the Cookie Monster Artic Swirl. Love the concept, but the blue flavor wasn't my favorite. Love the Nancy B cookies though.
google avatar

Dhruti T.

Yelp
I loved this cute local soft serve place. The line was consistently long, wrapping around the building but it moved fast and was worth waiting for. There are so many different options for soft serves or milkshakes. Everything my friends and I tried was delicious. I got a mix of chocolate and pb soft serve with mix ins of Reese's cups. 10/10 would get again! Definitely worth a stop if you're in Pittsburg
google avatar

Maansi S.

Yelp
A Pittsburgh staple. I've been here countless times and everyone working there is so nice despite how long the lines are. And speaking of the line, it looks intimidating but I promise it goes by fast! The ice cream is delicious and it's not too sweet. I love the variety of flavors/options here too. A must go if you're new to Pittsburgh but love ice cream!
google avatar

Patrick M.

Yelp
Page's may very possibly be the best soft serve ice cream that I've ever had. They have a great selection of flavors to choose from and the service & pricing are excellent. The place is usually pretty crowded and honestly, it is well worth it. All good things for those who wait!! It is a classic ice cream establishment with years of history. Page's is fantastic!!
google avatar

Chris C.

Yelp
Too sweet! Cool vibes under the bridge but with the long line, way too big/sweet ice cream, and no seating, hard to say I'll come back again.
google avatar

Pam A.

Yelp
Best ice cream in the nation. Don't miss this gem ... if you arrive 11AM much less of a wait. So many soft serve flavors. Coke float, root beer and Dr. Pepper floats. Food is classic choices tasty and satisfying.
google avatar

Brenda Y.

Yelp
We got the classic soft serve with chocolate dip which was excellent for its price. The soft serve was very smooth and creamy. However, the location is located in a very weird spot. We went on a rainy day but the line still wrapped around the whole building. Regardless, we still got our icecream pretty quickly after ordering. There is no seating but the vibes are great for grabbing ice cream with friends or family members. I would definitely come back to try different things.
google avatar

Michelle S.

Yelp
The staff is fun and quick and attentive. The choices are overwhelming too many to choose from really. We got a large twist cone and I swear it was cone to tip like 12 inches. I had the mudslide sundae that was too big I would have liked it more if the hot fudge was in the middle and the top.
google avatar

Shawn S.

Yelp
Don't under estimate this place! It has officially ruined all other ice cream for me. I truly dont think it will get better than this! Easily the best ice cream in Pittsburgh! I know they also have a dairy-free version last time I went! For your first time you need the cookie sundae!

Akiera K.

Yelp
We ordered an artic swirl with cookie dough pieces and they gave me a nancy bs artic swirl. ALLERGIC TO PEANUT BUTTER MAY I ADD!!! The worker was giving attitude that was not needed as a we was simply just trying to order something. The service was good but the employee not so much.
google avatar

Lynn C.

Yelp
I've been here many times but have always ordered the Nancy b sundae. But since no cookies right now I was excited to see the special cookie butter. I got the cookie butter crunch which was amazing and best flavor ever, next time I would add the chocolate chips or chocolate drizzle too.
google avatar

Nate R.

Yelp
A staple in Pittsburgh. If you want ice cream, simply go to Page's. It's iconic and timeless. The line is usually wrapped around the building and for good reason. The wait is part of the experience! You can read their history on the back side while listening to some great music and follow the ice cream footprints leading you to the order window. The staff are always friendly and quick to accommodate whatever creation you tell them!
google avatar

Gregory A.

Yelp
Even on a cloudy cold day Page's was still hopping! This delicious corner ice cream place was fantastic! My family and I visited them before heading to the movies and we all loved it! We waited about 10 minutes before we got to the counter, I can't even imagine what the wait time is like during the warmer weather! The staff were great and nice. We had a total of 3 Arctic swirls and 1 milkshake and waited for all of that for about 5 minutes. The smallest size they had was a decent size too, so you definitely get your moneys worth! I got the Oreo cheesecake Arctic swirl and wow, perfect blend of Oreo and cheesecake and they had the Oreo crumbs dumped to the side too. My family and I will have to visit here again soon to try the rest of the menu. If you got that sweet tooth craving Page's is the place for you!
google avatar

Juliana S.

Yelp
I thought the ice cream here was spectacular as well as the wide array of options. Definitely a nice place to go for a refreshing summer treat. However, coming from central PA, where similar ice cream shops offer sundaes for around $5, the prices here felt a bit high. ( as 2 sundaes cost us $20 ) Especially when the entire vibe is small town store. I understand that prices can be different in the city, but I would have appreciated more transparent pricing (as prices weren't listed on the menu) and additional sizing options. It's just disappointing when you thought it would be cheaper, then order, told you can only get one size, and then pay $20 for way more ice cream than even 2 people can finish.
google avatar

Heather B.

Yelp
Really fun soft serve ice cream options! I got a small keylime pie soft serve for $3.30. My partner got the cheeseburger with lettuce tomato onion pickle ketchup and mustard for about the same price as the ice cream and we thought it was delicious! We were surprised by the fresh toppings for that price! Parking would be a bit tricky if we had gone during a busy time, as Pages is located under and overpass (which is pretty leaky lol). There is a small parking lot behind the shop which was better to park in!
google avatar

Valerie C.

Yelp
Make this stop whenever you are craving soft serve ice cream!!!!!! There's endless options and free parking too. No indoor seating, but there's some fun enjoying ice cream in the car/parking lot. Page's has a fun atmosphere and friendly service. Not only are their social media marketing posts amazing, but the actual product is delicious. Prices are very reasonable. Endless amount of syrups, mix ins, sundaes and savory foods to try! I ordered the banana split Arctic Swirl with peanut butter syrup instead of chocolate, and was pleasant surprised with the outcome! Sweet from the pineapple, strawberries and bananas. The peanut butter syrup was chunky and savory. Oh and there's allergy friendly oat milk ice cream!!! My friends got key lime pie soft serve and chocolate covered strawberry soft serve!!! Delicious. Wish they were open all year round, but I love a trip to Page's. Tldr 4.5/5 food 5/5 service 4/5 ambiance
google avatar

Shayna H.

Yelp
A staple of Pittsburgh with a huge variety of options from hot dogs, to coffee, to soft serve. If you are dairy-free like me, then be prepared to be pleasantly surprised with a huge dairy free selection. When you arrive, expect to wait in a rather long line. However, the line moves fast thanks to the exceptional service. After about a 15-20 minute wait, we finally made it to the front. I ordered a chocolate chip cookie dough arctic shake. I got a medium which turned out to be pretty massive. It was smooth and creamy and absolutely delicious. Definitely the perfect place to end a warm summer Pittsburgh evening!
google avatar

Morgan W.

Yelp
I love their ice cream! It's close by and very convenient. I like that they use real ingredients in their ice cream! It makes it even better! This place is definitely worth it! I will say that the line is always incredible long which would probably turn many people away. I'm not sure why they haven't expanded this business yet...it would be a great idea
google avatar

Brenda W.

Yelp
Been hearing about this ice cream venue forever and, finally, landed here after a lengthy, winding route home from the airport via Waze app. Worth the 30 minute wait in line that wrapped around the building on an 80 degree week day in April. Ordered the Tortoise Delight sundae. Wasn't asked what size. I guess that means one size--huge!!! Came with a soft decadent brownie, chocolate, caramel, whipped cream, vanilla ice cream in a bowl. It was everything a sundae should be and I only wish I could have finished it. Not often sugary sweets have me crying uncle. But, it was a lot!
google avatar

Edmund S.

Yelp
Well, after all the hype seen on IG.... Was in Pittsburgh and gave it a go. Previewed the menu before going and it was overwhelming. I guess if you like soft serve, this is your place to go. Very creative with a lot of things. There is also hot sandwiches to order. We went on a rainy day, and there were still people in line around lunch time! Service was first come first serve. They know their menu really well (I think it is family run and is a Pittsburgh establishment). Well, I had to get the south side nachos... OMG Sugar scale through the roof, but it was incredible. there are other things I would love to try, great thing my daughter is a student in Pittsburgh, so I will have opportunity to visit again in the future! Note, it is all outdoor. There is a side lot and additional parking behind between them and the BBQ place. You will enjoy this if you like soft serve done many ways!
google avatar

Ken L.

Yelp
This place has a huge line always and it makes sense! Truly a pittsburgh quintessential establishment. They have a huge menu with real food and tons of ice cream choices. I love that they have oat milk soft serve that's actually good! It's so dang creamy. You can also get it in any flavor which is amazing. Friends say their real food is delicious so I need to try that next time. The line is long but it moves decently quick. The artic swirls are really good too and they're like a blizzard. They also have south side nachos which is soft serve with waffle cone pieces you can dip. I love the history on the side of the place for everyone in line to read. Definitely the best ice cream spot in town!!
google avatar

Lauren W.

Yelp
The rumors are true, the parking is a nightmare, the ice cream is worth it! Obsessed with the birthday cake soft serve... pure delight!! Prices are solid and service was relatively fast compared to the popularity. Not a great location to sit and enjoy your treasure but again the taste will lead you to figure it out. Definitely put this spot on your list!
google avatar

Deah B.

Yelp
Worth it! It is worth the wait in line. Their is a very good reason for the long line, everything is amazing. I got the pumpkin roll arctic swirl. They stick a half piece of pumpkin roll right on top. The pumpkin roll is from Pastries A-La-Carte. This is one of the many fall specials. Ambiance is very nostalgic.
google avatar

Halie G.

Yelp
Family-owned staple of ice cream/ desserts in Pittsburgh!  Cute ice cream stop right at the end of South Side on East Carson Street, serving up the best dessert treats.  Window service, order and pickup- some benches for seating or you may see people tailgating out of the back seat of their car- but mostly a quick stop.  Very fast and efficient service.  Do not let the line deter you from stopping- it moves quick.  The menu is incredible- soft serve, artic swirls, sundaes and so many concoctions they create!  Teaming up with another Pittsburgh staple- Nancy B's Bakery and offering a delicious chocolate chip cookie sundae!  Page's offer dairy free options as well.  Only open seasonally, but they do have a pretty awesome fall menu.  I tried the Maple Delight Sundae and it was incredible!
google avatar

Jennifer Á.

Yelp
Page's is my favorite ice cream place in Pittsburgh! I am a huge fan of soft serve and they have so many flavors for soft serve. Very reasonably priced! Always expect some kind of line and waiting but mostly on afternoons and weekends. If you go in the mornings, it won't have as much a line. Def recommend trying out page's!!
google avatar

Meredith A.

Yelp
Well, we finally made our way to Page's. I'd never been there before, so I had no idea what to get. We got there around 9:00 pm on a Sunday, and they close at 10:00. We did have to wait in line for about 40 minutes, but the night was pleasant, there are lots of informational signs to read and look at on the building itself, and it was well worth the wait! The creaminess of the ice cream cannot be matched. The Strawberry Shortcake had real strawberries in it that still had a crispness to them, and the Key Lime Pie wasn't too tart and the graham cracker crumbles just made it! What a cute place to meet up for some of the creamiest ice cream around!
google avatar

Julio G.

Yelp
If you got a sweet tooth definitely check this one out The pumpkin roll blizzard I got was tasty but might've made me realize I'm lactose intolerant BUT the line wrapped around the building but for a good reason Also the building was nice too with history about it so you can check out while you wait Would recommend
google avatar

April H.

Yelp
Best ice cream in Pittsburgh. It's an experience to wait in line looping around the building on a warm summer night. Staff is always nice. I got a vanilla soft serve with rainbow jimmies in a waffle cone. Simple but delicious. They line the inside of the cone with sprinkles too, so you still have some as you finish the cone, and it gives the cone an extra crunch. Genius! I also love their fruity pebbles arctic swirl. Thank you Page's!
google avatar

Lauren T.

Yelp
Every good thing you hear about Page's is true. Huge menu, delicious and creamy ice cream. I accidentally went 8 years of living in Pittsburgh without coming here, but better late than never! You don't often see such a large variety of soft serve flavors, but they have so many. The black raspberry was so good. I also appreciated the little cup for ice cream drippage. They have plenty of dairy-free options, also, and some yummy looking food. My boyfriend had the dirt sundae and said it tasted like they mixed the ice cream with the Oreo filling. 10/10
google avatar

Felipe R.

Yelp
Dammit I just cant get into this and I wanted to so badly. A "Dairy Mart" from 1951, seasonally opened with constant lines no matter what day or time you go. You'd thing this place really has it going on! Like this place must be the real deal, especially considering that I've never seen so many ice cream shops in a region like I have out here in the PGH. However... I really don't understand. Why..... mediocre soft serve.. um... some rando other items... in an absolute terrible location... with a huge line... under a freeway???? I just don't get it at all! I would say that minimally, this place has been around since 1951 and still has no dedicated parking lot, you are forced to stand under a gross freeway with nowhere to sit. I'm sorry, but you're telling me this place cant even invest in itself after all these years? This is a cult that's what it is, brainwashed PGH'ers who think this is amazing when seriously this place would have never lasted this long anywhere else. Mediocre at best, the food the ambiance. What a joke.
google avatar

Heather W.

Yelp
Amazing ice cream! The lady who took our order was so sweet and speedy! The line was a little long but to be fair, we went opening day so it was not really an issue. The music was also super good and made the time feel like it was going by a little faster. It was my first time here and even though parking was a little rough, the amazing ice cream made up for it! I got the birthday cake arctic swirl, size small. It was the perfect amount of ice cream for me! Cannot wait to go back.
google avatar

Jennifer H.

Yelp
I wasn't all that impressed. With as much as I've heard about this place and their ice cream being so good, it was mediocre and not worth the drive or wait in line.
google avatar

Corinne K.

Yelp
I love page's ice cream! I crave it anytime I'm not in pittsburgh. The prices have gotten a little expensive recently but the quality is great. The line is usually wrapped around the building. A lot of parking on site
google avatar

Chris V.

Yelp
Dessert on your mind? At Page's you'll find, the best ice cream of mankind. No cap, this place really slaps. Mark it on your map. Special fall menu is in season and pumpkin roll arctic freeze has me believin' that my pockets will take a good good squeezin'. Jump in line, no need to whine, before you know it you'll be on cloud nine.
google avatar

Natalie T.

Yelp
So lucky to get to hit up Page's for a second season! Still just as tasty as my first cone in 2023, makes my visits to Pitt all that much better.

EN L.

Yelp
Very creamy and lots of options. Not artificial flavors and use fresh ingredients. Tastes homemade, efficient service considering how long the line is. Location is under a bridge so not very convenient. Large serving sizes, pretty good prices for what you get.
google avatar

Alicia B.

Yelp
Amazing! We always pass by Page's and tell ourselves we would stop one day as the lines were always long. But this Sunday we decided to stop and get something to cool down the summer heat. We found a spot to park on the lot. Their portion sizes are huge. As you can see based on my picture those are both 'small' sizes. They were both filling felt as though I can share one portion with someone. Very very tasty worth the wait 10/10
google avatar

Anthony L.

Yelp
My favorite ice cream shop in Pittsburgh. Perfect for a warm day, I first heard about this place from co-workers who lived in the area and I haven't looked back since. The wait in line may seem intimidating, but it is needed to make sure you can wrap your head around the many options they have. I usually get their sundaes, such as the Yinzer sundae. The blondie brownie with the creamy ice cream just it like no other place I have been and I wish I had a Page's near me now on the east coast. It's one of Pittsburgh's worst kept secrets for a reason, great everytime.

Jennifer L.

Yelp
Standing under the bridge, hiding from the sun, there is nothing better than great soft serve. Try the cookie butter soft serve!! Delicious. Also got tastes of the chocolate and key lime pie. Loved my cookie butter best!
google avatar

Selina C.

Yelp
Ice cream under a bridge on a sunny day in Pittsburgh. What a yummy treat!! Their soft serves are both affordable and generously portioned. My friend and I ordered the small caramel and blueberry soft serve, and I was surprised by how fresh and smooth it was! There isn't a place to sit down outside, so my friend and I ate in my car before heading out. Parking was an interesting experience. There's a small lot underneath a bridge, which was dripping water from recent rain. Cars were parked somewhat haphazardly to try to make use of the space. My original exit route ended up getting blocked by another vehicle, but thankfully another route opened up so I could head home without trouble.
google avatar

Jayme B.

Yelp
You can never go wrong at Page's! While they are known for their ice cream, but they also serve food as well. There will usually be a line, so my suggestion is to just visit on a nice day and just wait in the line. It goes by quickly. The staff are always friendly and the ice cream never misses! My mom and I recently went. I tried the lucky charms milkshake (I think it was limited time) and my mom got the Southside sundae which is half milkshake, half sundae. Both were delicious! Parking can be a bit tricky but doable. If you've never been to Page's I highly suggest checking it out!
google avatar

Haley G.

Yelp
This place never disappoints. I come here every time I come to Pittsburgh. This is a high quality ice cream shop with something for everyone! The line was long both times I came here, but that is a good indication of why this is a Pittsburgh staple! I want to come here and try other menu options but it's hard when I like what I've had already and would eat that again! The building and location is fun to venture too, as well! Great work by the service teams. They work hard and do a great job!
google avatar

Kate S.

Yelp
I went through an obsessive phase over the summer with Page's. I've tried a bunch of different options but nothing beats their classic twist in a cone. I also recommend the carrot cake!!!!
google avatar

Aaron W.

Yelp
Many people have told me that Page's is the most amazing ice cream place around. I don't quite understand the buzz. The menu is extensive and the ice cream treats are both gigantic and tasty. But it's nothing that you can't get at just about any soft-serve joint. More important, there is no place to sit! The shop is under a bridge and adjacent to a gravely parking lot, so the ambience is a mix of noisy traffic and concrete/dusty. Why would you go out of your way to eat ice cream in a place like that? From what I can tell, they are most well-known for their chocolate chip cookie sundae (pictured below). My wife and I tried it and indeed it was large and delicious. But again, it would have tasted better in a chair and air conditioning than standing in a parking lot under a bridge.
