"Paia Fish Market has become so popular that they’ve recently expanded to locations in the concentrated tourist areas of Kihei and Lahaina, but our favorite is still the original space that opened in Paia 30 years ago. "Paia Fish Market has a casual, cozy, family-friendly atmosphere with communal wooden tables, dive bar decor, and cool surf photography. It's counter service only, so you'll need to stand in a perpetually long line, but the food's worth the inevitable wait. As its name suggests, this place specializes in just-caught, fresh-off-the-boat local seafood, prepared exactly the way you like it. The Fresh Catch plates are a good starting point: you can choose your fish (mahi mahi, ahi, snapper), how you want it prepared (grilled, sautéed, Cajun-style), and your sides (rice, home fries, or French fries)." - Juliana Shallcross, Kris Fordham

Google
The food here was delicious and well-seasoned! We got the fish tacos, blackened snapper plate, and calamari. The portion sizes were huge, and we had a ton of leftovers. There was a line when we went for dinner, but it moved pretty quickly. They sat multiple parties together at the same table to maximize seating.

Google
Great spot to eat. The prices are great compared to most other restaurants on the island but you still get tons of food and it's quite good. The fish tacos were amazing and the snapper was so good. The calamari was good too and only $9. Hard to beat that. I recommend this spot a lot of you are in the area

Google
Very casual spot for dining with huge portions and delicious dishes all for a reasonable price. I highly recommend the charbroiled fresh fish with the Cajun rice and the seafood pasta. Onion rings were very hot and crispy. The iced tea was also very refreshing. The servers were super nice and it didn't take long for the food to get to us. If you plan on going during a peak dining hour expect a slight wait in line to order. The seating is slightly limited but it clears out pretty quickly.

Google
Mediocre I was excited to try this place as there is ALWAYS a long line out the door and everyone raves about it. We arrived around 3:30pm on a Saturday afternoon and there was no line- our lucky day! Unfortunately, we found the service to be subpar- not friendly or welcoming. I ordered the blackened ono with rice and it came with a side of slaw. The ono was a decent size but very dry and the rice was meh. My partner ordered the salmon salad and really enjoyed it. Overall I felt the experience was okay.

Google
(the line is worth it!) Very very good food, I got the blackened Mahi Mahi plate. The rice, potatoes, and coleslaw went well with the fish!! The fries weren’t the best, just kinda standard, so I def recommend getting the rice and potatoes instead. Basically everything on the menu that isn’t fried or in a sandwich is celiac-friendly. My fiancé with celiac got the chicken plate with rice and potatoes and he didn’t have any cross-contamination sickness afterwards! Yay

Google
My friend ordered a $16 lunch special which was just as much food as my $45 fish combo. I don't understand their logic. My friend kept telling me only Hawaii has this Mahi fish and we must try it. So I did, didn't taste how special it was. We sat on these big cafeteria benches and shared the table with a young family. The coconut drink I bought was $4. I liked the surf board and surfing history on their wall. They also sell T-shirts etc.

Google
Delicious casual spot for a quick meal. Counter service from friendly and helpful staff and some of the most fair prices for a meal you’ll find anywhere in Hawaii. Fish tacos were delicious and tastes fresh and flavorful. Highly recommend for a quick and affordable lunch.

Google
Not a bad restaurant for the price point. Your usual fish and chips type of place. The ahi burger wasn't bad. Plenty of options for the kids too. Not a lot street parking in the city of Paia. I would recommend that you go park at the free public lot at the west side of town as you enter and walk to the restaurant instead.

Denise L.

Yelp
Ordered fish and chips. Fish sticks were dry, had better fries at McDonalds. Do not order! Otherwise, a fun place to experience. Always busy, always crowded, always long line. Order take out, goes faster!

Grisel S.

Yelp
This was the best meal we had while in Maui! I got the charbroiled Mahi Mahi and fish tacos. The Mahi Mahi fish plate was perfect, the flavor and even the Cajun rice and potatoes were all cooked to perfection. My friends got the blackened salmon and charbroiled salmon, also really good! All of the fish tasted very fresh. Honestly I think whatever fish plate and preparation you get you'll be satisfied. The tartar sauce tasted really good too and it paired amazingly with our food. The fish tacos were okay, I wouldn't order them again. Highly recommend the fish plates though! We had to come back a second time during our trip and were still left craving it. The line can get long, but I'd say it's worth the wait. There's not many seats inside either, so we just took our food to-go and ate it at a park nearby.

Pamela F.

Yelp
Lining up before lunch opening was well worth it. We'd seen (and heard about) the lengthy lines so we arrived just about 7 minutes before opening on a Sunday morning and were the second party in line, with a party of 5 in front of us. We were served quickly and with very friendly and helpful service, including assistance with purchasing a t-shirt. As reported by others, the dining room isn't particularly large for the volume of guests they receive, but it was clean and bright since it's a corner spot. We quickly scored a table by the window. Almost as quickly as we took our seats, our grub started making its way to our table, as it was ready. First, the order of onion rings ~ hot and crunchy. Next, his ono burger ~ epic portion! Lastly, my mahi mahi fajitas with fixings ~ yummy and again, super generous helping. All tasty and served piping hot! Would definitely return, especially arriving early to avoid a lengthy wait seems the way to go.

Yelp
This was our last meal on the island for this visit and it turned out to be the best!! This place has counter service to take your order. Don't try to sneak a seat until you order. Seats are limited. The order process was quick and easy. I ordered the fish and chips and my wife ordered the grilled mahi mahi w/FF The order was filled quickly and a waitress brought to our table. The table had Heinz ketchup by the way! The food was extremely hot and looked great. The taste mirrored the appearance. The grilled mahi mahi had great taste. The quantity vs price made for a good value meal. I was informed that this was fresh fish. It tasted so well I decided to try the shrimp appetizer. That did not disappoint either. Paia has become my new favorite meal location on the island since the fires have destroyed Front street in Lahaina.

Yelp
Original start in the carefree beatnik town of Paia. Parking is difficult but everything is nearby in this small hippie compound. No beach view, fast food tip first counter service, self seating if you get lucky; not good for groups. The get your own water station needs a cleanliness monitor. The food also comes out pretty quickly despite the long line of orders. Atlantic Salmon? Oh well, expectations lowered. Menu states "charbroiled to perfection". Really? Plate comes out ~ large portion presentation over a bed of Cajun rice and a side of slaw. First bite is of the coleslaw ~ mild cream, crunchy cabbage, nice. Small spoon of the Cajun rice ~ enjoyable chewy texture, just the right amount of butter, nice. Fish ~ it was to perfection! The large fish was flavorful and char was a clean delicate crisp compliment to the tender filet. All three so good together. No need to sprinkle any sauces that are provided on the table; they are very dirty anyway and need a good cleaning. Gobbled it up. Excellent dish. Local lager for a satisfying finish.

Yelp
This spot is delicious. Located in the small town of Paia this spot serves up some bomb seafood. I tried out these dishes. Clam Chowder - A classic good chowder. It's worth to get as an appetizer. It was delicious. (5/5) Seafood Pasta - Portion is bigger than I expected. Came with 4 pieces shrimp and tons of fish chunks. It's creamy and cheesy. It's tasty. (4/5) Blacked Oni - Wow this is solid. Flavor was good and fish was flacky. I enjoyed it. (4.5/5) I would come back here since the prices are reasonable and the food is good. It does get a bit crowded but we came before 5 pm Friday so didn't have to wait for a table.

Kendell B.

Yelp
What a delicious spot for lunch! My family and I came here while visiting and LOVED the salad options. I ended up getting the seafood salad with Mahi, and it was delicious. I loved that they had so many different choices of dressings to choose from. Once you order at the register, you can find a seat and they will bring your order out to you. Service was quick. It gets a little loud inside since it is such a popular restaurant. They do a good job of keeping tables clean in between people coming in and out. Would definitely recommend as a place to stop in and enjoy.

Angelene C.

Yelp
Great selection of fish dishes, and they get pretty busy at night. It's self seating and you order at the front. The restroom is in the back and parking is on the street. The food was pretty tasty and they had a good selection of fish! Came here because I saw it on yelp while visiting and wanted to give them a try!

Karen C.

Yelp
Since I was here last, they remodeled and expanded into the store next door. This has given them a ton more seating space. You are not supposed to sit down until you order but I did see some bigger groups grabbing tables. They give you a number tag and bring your food to you when its ready. You still order at the counter. I had the fish and chips with cole slaw. The fish was crisp outside and flaky inside. They have a self service tarter sauce container. It has a nice flavor. The slaw was vinegary but tasty. Fries were tasty and you get a lot. Could have used another piece of fish but overall a really nice meal.

Victor D.

Yelp
Came here as our first Maui meal. We got the fish and chips, fish taco, and mahi burger. My favorite item ended up being the mahi burger and what made it was the tartar sauce and the fish was quite moist. I also really liked the fries there and I thought they were like McDonald's (I mean that in the nicest way possible) For the fish tacos, I was a bit disappointed by the lack of flavor and it was a lot better when I dumped tartar sauce on it. For the fish and chips, the batter is very thin and I'm more of a crunch person so it wasn't my style. Not a bad first meal, but nothing to rave about.

Bill B.

Yelp
Very low key restaurant. Order at the counter and sit. Relaxed vibe. Small wine beer list but good options. We had the fish tacos, seafood pasta and clam chowder. The chowder was good. Good flavor thick but not too thick. The fish tacos were fresh. Filled with excellent fish and seasoning and were very juicy. My wife loved them. For me the star was the seafood pasta. It was a large bowl of pasta with shrimp and fresh catch fish filets. Covered in a creamy parm sauce that was seasoned perfectly. I am not usually a take my food home person, but I literally could not finish this meal. The food came out of the kitchen lightning fast as well.

Lisa S.

Yelp
Stopped in for a quick lunch before heading to the airport and making the long trip home. Casual place with plenty of seating. Then take your order at the front, then you take a seat wherever you want. I ordered the shrimp and chips. It was cooked perfectly. The serving size was generous, I had leftover fries. My husband ordered tacos and he was also happy with his meal. They also serve beer and wine. I felt like the price was fair for what we got.

Yelp
I heard ppl raving about this place. When we were in maui 2 years ago, we stopped by this town, this restaurant has a long line. So this time, we decided to try it. We came around 1pm weekdays. Parking : free limited street parking. Line a bit long but move pretty fast. Basically you ordered on the counter when you wait in line, then they give you a number and go find your seating. Table first come first serve. There's sharing table and counter table too. They are know for their fresh catch. Since this is our first time here, we asked the gal that took our order, she was so happy to explain and give recommendations. So we ordered: Fresh catch plate of Ono charboiled style with cajun rice and comes w coleslaw A cup of chowder Lunch 2 fish taco comes with fries and coleslaw. There's water dispenser and soda and ice tea. Condiments: on your table along with napkins and utensils. Tartar sauce is by the drinks area. Restroom: 2 individual female and male Restroom, you need Key from the cashier. And it located outside. Food comes out within 10min, they clean up very fast too. Food are great. Thanks

Yelp
We have been coming here for nearly a decade. And honestly I'm sad to write this. But we had the worst experience. The lady taking orders, I'm not sure if I might have murdered her family in a parallel universe but she CLEARLY did not like me or my husband. And spoke to us like we were stupid, all because we asked the size of the clam chowder. .... It comes in a medium sized bowl and was one of the worst things I've put in my mouth in a long time. And I've had food poisoning twice in the last 12 months. The clams had the texture similar to what Mike Tyson must have experienced when he chomped down on Holyfields ear. And the liquid was so watery... it might have actually been more watery than water. My taco outer shell was IMPOSSIBLE to bite through. Probably on the hot plate too long. But my husbands fish plate was incredible. The Paia we know and love! We will return again soon and hopefully I can change my review.

Tony P.

Yelp
Does this place need another recommendation? Well, I'm giving one anyway because it is soooooo good. It was busy today for lunch with a line out the door, but they were fast. The inside felt local and fresh. The prices are reasonable especially coming from Seattle. We had the fish sandwich, fish n chips, fish taco and clam chowder. Everything was fresh and delicious. The tartar sauce was dill based which we liked. The inside had nice picnic tables and they turned fairly quick. The town of Pa'ia is quaint and has some cool local shops. If you stop in the area this place is a must. Enjoy!

Lawrence S.

Yelp
So I just wanted to update my review. I am very happy to see that they have gotten their service back to where it used to be. I ordered the Opakapaka plate with rice and potatoes with the coleslaw. I ordered it on the way home from work and by the time I arrived my food was ready even though they were busy with a line out the door. The service was great. I also like that they expanded the dining room because there are times that I like to just walk around Paia and stop in for lunch or dinner. Just a recommendation but if you like good fish get it sautéed with the butter and garlic. That is my favorite.

Nazeerah P.

Yelp
PAIA Fish Market is a hidden gem that every seafood lover needs to experience. The moment you step inside, you're greeted by a vibrant atmosphere and an inviting interior that sets the perfect backdrop for a family meal. Their "magic sauces" truly elevate every dish--each one bursting with flavor. We tried the Opakapaka plate with Cajun rice and homestyle potatoes, which was simply outstanding. The fish was fresh and cooked to perfection. We also indulged in the burger and fries, paired with two cold beers, and it was all fantastic. The pricing is surprisingly reasonable for the quality of food you receive, making it an underrated treasure in town. Plus, the local island music playing in the background added to the charming vibe. If you're looking for delicious seafood and a great dining experience, PAIA Fish Market is a must-visit!

Yelp
SUMMARY: An exceptional restaurant with the freshest fish, cooked in a manner to make the flavors of the fish excel as the star of the show. An absolute MUST GO stop, Top 5 in Maui. SERVICE: Line moves fast, server was helpful in making recommendations for our fish order. Checked up on us frequently. 5/5 service FOOD: We ordered the Clam Chowder, Cajun Style Snapper with Cajun Rice + Home Potatoes, and the Charbroiled Ahi with Cajun Rice. My tasting notes below. CLAM CHOWDER: Not the best I have ever had, could have used a little more seasoning. The consistency was a bit too runny for my preference, I like thicker clam chowders. SNAPPER: Cajun style really made this fish come alive with flavor. The seasoning doesn't mask the fish, it elevates it! Snapper is phenomenal no matter how it's prepared, and this one is delicacy levels of enjoyment. AHI: We ordered medium rare but came a little overcooked for our expectations. The medium rare Ahi at Mama's Fish House was more on par with a cooler, colored center. But don't let that take you away from how amazing this fish was - simply phenomenal and everything you are looking for in an Ahi prepared in this fashion. MISC: The TARTAR SAUCE and HOUSE SAUCE are insanely good. Like the top level of each respective flavor - if these were beverages I would drink them on the side. The POTATOES and COLE SLAW are also top tier. Next time around I would skip the rice because the potatoes are superior, but the best option is the get the half and half to try both. THANK YOU PAIA FISH MARKET!!!

Jenny L.

Yelp
Food is insanely fresh and the fish and chips was so fresh and crispy . when you bite into fresh fish fried like they do here.... it's an out of body experience.... wanted to get everything..

Melissa L.

Yelp
Had this on my bookmarks to check out in Hawaii. It was a bit disappointing. Got the fish plate (ono) and the shrimp cocktail, and a fish taco. The flavors were pretty good so it's sad I'm giving it 3 stars because the fish was way overcooked. So dry and it just lost appeal. The shrimp cocktail was so small and just whatever's. The taco was just ok, really watery. Parking can be hard it's basically street which gets busy or a lot. We had a rental car and didn't want to park far since we had our luggage and their lot was being used for painting. It was a bit hectic before our flight out and I wanted to try since it was on my bookmarks, but we ended up going elsewhere

Lucille T.

Yelp
After having to turn around on the road to Hana because of a boulder in the road, we decided to stop in the quaint little town of Paia for lunch since we had plenty of time to kill. This spot was recommended to us by others as we walked around the town, and it turned out to be a good place to get a great meal. I ordered the salmon burger and my husband got the cheeseburger. We shared some fries and we both were quite happy with our choices. The food was pretty tasty and the service was quick and friendly. This turned out to be one of the best meals of our Maui vacation!!

Samir K.

Yelp
Best place for seafood in Maui. The fresh Mahi Mahi and snapper was amazing. We also tried the pasta with seafood and shrimp tacos. While all are good I would recommend the fish. Must try if you are in Maui

Becca H.

Yelp
Loved the Lahaina location on a prior visit to Maui and loved this one just as much. Some of the best seafood you can get and for a very reasonable price - compared to most places in Hawaii. The seafood pasta is the love of my life. It's a huge portion, probably shareable. We stopped here after driving to Hana so we were starving! The pasta comes with a ton of seafood and a ton of sauce! It has lots of shrimp and is absolutely packed with flavor. I also love the capers, the mushrooms, and the tomatoes sprinkled throughout. This location is on the small side, right in the middle of cute Paia, so we had to wait for a few minutes to get a table. We were on the early end of dinner but when we drove past later we noticed there was a line out the door so I'd imagine it would be super tough to find a table when it's like that. They have a Coke fountain that you can refill your own drinks, so if you've been having trouble finding Coke products on the island like we were, you'll love that feature.

Julia W.

Yelp
Overpriced tourist watering hole. Only got one dish to share and I'm glad we did because it was so expensive, smaller portions and not that tasty. Literally nothing on the plate stood out, and in my opinion the fish was overcooked and a tad dry. I can't imagine rating this restaurant 5 stars, it was throughly subpar. Crowded, tables weren't being cleaned and many of the tables were missing silverware or napkins. Hard pass.

Nora I.

Yelp
The food was ok. I think my fish was a bit overcooked. I had the blacken mahi Onion rings were nice and crunchy The fish and chips was ok. Very friendly staff.

Shaylja S.

Yelp
WOW! Amazing. I cannot begin to explain the flavor in this dish. It was flavorful, delicate, crispy, fresh and mouthwatering good. The service was quick and very clean. I cannot begin to explain how long I will be thinking about these fish and chips for. Wish we came earlier and went twice before our trip was over. We will definitely be back for this.

Lynn N.

Yelp
We came here on our trip back from Road to Hana, and it was a popular spot. We got in line and ordered Cajun Ahi with Fries, and Blackened Ahi with House Potatoes and Cajun Rice. There is free seating, so we found an open spot and did not have to wait long until the food came out. Unfortunately, we got the wrong order. We got two of the same things, so I asked the waiter and got it fixed very easily. They were super receptive! The Ahi was cooked rare and was still pretty soft. I should've ordered it so the fish was be firmer. The sides were all solid. I really do like the massive portion of fish, but I think I would've preferred the fish prepared in a different way, maybe Charboiled or Sautéed. Overall, it had good food and we had a good time.

Lilly R.

Yelp
This is a very convenient little place to stop by and have a fresh caught. The portions are big and well-served, food is tasty and very affordable. If you are in Paia, stop by this local restaurant and grab a bite!

Carol C.

Yelp
The food was fresh and yummy! It is self service you order and they deliver to table. It is a very small space and fills up fast and often. Be prepared to wait in line and then wait for a table to open up and share with others.

Lorie C.

Yelp
I'm a bit confused..... island style is macaroni salad and white rice..... this so called local fish restaurant serves Cajun rice, Cole slaw and Cajun seasoning! Hahaha let's get real

Justin M.

Yelp
The town of Paia is amazing and the Paia Fish Market is the perfect spot to enjoy the town. I went there for lunch with my wife and 3 kids (15, 11, 8) and waited about 10 minutes to order. Seating is first come, first serve and as long as people follow the rules to not save a seat until they order, it flows nicely. My youngest both had the fish and chips and absolutely loved them. Best fish and chips they said they had on the island. The oldest had the fried calamari and chips. As a picky eater, she was originally put off by the fact that they weren't the circular shape that she's accustomed to. Then she actually tried them and realized they were 100x better than we she has had before. Her meal was gone in about 5 minutes. My wife had the Mahi Plate Cajun and I had the Ono Plate Sautéed at the recommendation of the server. We shared and both were fantastic. The fries are good, but the home potatoes were the best side by far. If you're in Maui, Paia is a must-visit and the Paia Fish Market is a perfect place to enjoy lunch or dinner!

Inverleith F.

Yelp
This looks to be the place for seafood in town so we waited about 20 minutes to order and sit down. Maybe 10 minutes wait for the food which onion rings, ahi sandwich and seafood green salad with shrimp and mahi mahi. The onion rings came first very hot. They are tender and crunchy which is perfect in my book. The rest were disappointing as the tuna was cooked through and the mahi was dry. When hubby asked about the cooking of the tuna, the cashier said it's cooked all the way unless you specify because people don't like it raw. Really? She placed the responsibility back on the customer versus the business either stating this or asking for cook preference. IMO this isn't right. My salad looked nice with a big slice of fish, 2 shrimps, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers and a heap of shredded carrots. The fish was dry unfortunately. No table service. You order at the counter, get a table tent with a number and find a seat. The system seems to work despite folks not reading the signs and jumping the line to get a table Bathroom requires a key to the facilities in the back. No gender neutral room. Parking can be tough as this town is a nice and cute place to walk and eat. Enjoy the town.

Melody P.

Yelp
I had a real good seafood salad this time! Blackened Mahi Mahi with papaya dressing! Great cashier service and servers. Casual dining order from the counter and then grab your seat.

Youri Y.

Yelp
After ziplining in Haiku, we were looking for lunch and saw this restaraunt had the best ratings nearby in the town Paia. Parking is very limited to find so anticipate searching around walking the block to Paia Fish Market. Don't worry about the line out the door because it goes by fast and the employees there make it really efficient to assign customers where to wait and sit for their food. There's no saving seats here. My husband and I ordered the blackened ahi with cole slaw, Cajun rice and potatoes. He preferred the Cajun rice and cole slaw without the potatoes but I really enjoyed the potatoes with some ketchup and tabasco sauce. The blackened ahi was perfect and had a nice seasoned flavor to it. The tartar sauce added a savory taste when I dipped my fish into it and took a bite. This was probably one of the best meals we had in Maui. The customer service here was top-notch and they help collect your dirty plates/utensils or you can put them away in the dirty collection of plates/utensils/trash. The ambiance also has a bunch of cool and retro surfing images along the walls for a chill beachside vibe. Thanks Paia Fish Market!!

Alyssa A.

Yelp
Read great reviews after this place, so we stopped here after we finished our Road to Hana trip. They were open a little later than other places in the area, so it was a nice treat for them to still be open when we got there around 8:30pm. Fish is so fresh and tasty. The fish tacos and the ono plate were our big winners. The cajun rice is incredible - great spice and flavor - definitely get it as your side. Prices are super reasonable too for the quality of the food you're getting. They also have a decent selection of bottled beers. Service is pretty efficient - order at the counter, and they bring the food to your table. Great quick stop for some tasty fish - especially if you're exhausted after a full day of exploring on Hana Highway.

Lexi K.

Yelp
Such a great place to stop by! If you are a fish fan you have some options to choose from and how you would like it cooked. The coleslaw comes with each plate and is so good. The snapper and mahi were great, and we even tried the calamari which we would get again. Highly recommend checking out this restaurant

Taylor J.

Yelp
The food was delicious and the most reasonably priced in Maui. Not sure how they manage to be one of the few places on the island with a fresh, proper salad but they nailed it. The fresh grilled fish was perfect. My husband's fish and chips were perfect. Portions are huge. Tartar sauce still has be craving more.

Samantha C.

Yelp
everyone and their mother knows that this is a five star food establishment. you get fresh, quality, and deliciously prepared fish for a price that is reasonable and reflects the quality. as someone who lives in Maui, I go myself often but also make sure any visitors get to eat here during their stay!! there can be a long line at times but it's typically worth it. calling ahead is a smart move to be able to pass the line if you can! Also, I would drink the tartar sauce with a straw if that were socially acceptable

L L.

Yelp
We loved their Oahu restaurant and we decided to take a 50 minute drive from west Maui to Paia for lunch. It did not disappoint. Despite the long ordering line out of the door, it moved quickly. I got my usual Mahi Mahi Cajun style with potatoes and it was as good as I remembered it pre pandemic. My family had other fish dishes and they all loved their food. The best of all, considering the high cost of living in Maui, this was a very reasonable meal. The only problem is the lack of parking in Paia. I would recommend park a bit outside or on the border of town - and walk a bit.

Ranata W.

Yelp
The fish is fresh and very well cooked. This place gets packed and can be very busy. I stood in a line for about 20minutes to order but it was worth it. I would have preferred to be able to get a table while waiting since we had kids with us but you have to have a number from your order for you to sit at a table. All in all I will come back.

Joshua M.

Yelp
I'm not being dramatic, but this may be the slowest operation in the history of the USA. Good food but about passed out waiting in line for so long. Were they even taking orders? Because the line did not move....

We had dinner at Paia Fish Market in Paia after doing the Road to Hana. There is a free parking lot nearby, making it pretty convenient. The staff was helpful and friendly. I wanted to try one of the fresh catch plates and asked for a recommendation on what to order since I'm not that picky and figured I'd order whatever she suggested. Based on her recommendation, I got the snapper cajun-style with rice and home potatoes. First off, the portions are huge so that's a plus if you have a big appetite. The plate also comes with coleslaw in addition to the selected sides. Overall, I thought the food was ok. My fish was on the dry side, which was disappointing since she had raved about how juicy the snapper is compared to some of the other fishes I was considering. So I think it was just overcooked (bummer). I also personally didn't love the fennel seeds in the cajun spice mix, but that's just a personal presence and I didn't know it would have fennel in it. So for me, despite the hefty portion, it was a bit of a miss. I hate wasting food so I ate what I could and called it a day. My sister tried the seafood pasta. Overall she enjoyed it, but we noticed some of the shrimp wasn't really deveined properly. Small detail, but kind of an important one. I'm sure with the volume of seafood they go through it's easy to rush through cleaning the shrimp, but a bit more diligence in cleaning them would have been nice. I really don't want to leave a "bad" review, especially given the fallout after the Lahaina fires and businesses suffering, but I wanted to at least share some of these issues because perhaps the kitchen can take the feedback and, I dunno, do better? Given our one and only experience here, I'm not sure I'd rush to try it again. For both of us it served its purpose as a meal, but it wasn't as delicious or memorable as I had hoped it would be.

Yelp
Fresh fish, generous portions, and unbeatable value--Paia Fish Market operates like a well-oiled machine. Their system ensures a seamless experience for customers while delivering an outstanding product. The quality of the fish rivals, if not surpasses, many upscale seafood spots in Maui. I highly recommend the fish burgers--they're the best bang for your buck when it comes to price per ounce. The full plates are also a fantastic deal, offering flexibility with cooking styles and excellent sides to round out the meal. You really can't go wrong with Paia Fish Market.

Yelp
With all the expensive spots to dine, and overly touristy places on Maui, I'm always delighted by this little place and by Paia in general. Love the truly laid back surf town vibe and the fresh fish and food at this little place can't be beat. Order at the counter, then go grab a seat. Everything is super fresh, plentiful, service is lightening fast and everyone is friendly. A great place for lunch or dinner and a stone's throw drive from west Maui.

Yelp
My chicken sandwich came out raw. Pink raw. Should have taken a picture before she rushed it off my table. Note to self, don't get chicken at a fish market.

Yelp
Round 2 was way better than the first time we went here. The first time I ordered the seafood pasta which had no flavor. Yesterday I got the ono fish sandwich and it was grilled, seasoned to perfection. The cheese was not melted on the fish and the bun is too big for the size of the fish. It is yummy still. Don't get me started on the fries - whatever seasoning the fries were good. And the homemade tartar sauce with the the fries fire! My fiancée got the blackened ono was a little dry but seasoned well. Seafood chowder was alright. Probably out of a can nothing special. My brother got 1 fish taco and 2 shrimp tacos. The shrimps were big and better than the fish. Service is basically them dropping off food and taking your order. They don't check on you. The restaurant is quite loud on a corner street. The line fluctuates. Sometimes you get in quick and sometimes you have to wait.

Yelp
Paia Fish Market was recommended many times by locals. It's in a downtown kind of area so parking is street parking, which can be a challenge. There's 2 restrooms outdoor that require a key. This place is counter service, so you wait in line, order and then find a spot to get seated. There's plenty of signs that say something like "please have a number before seating". So, seating can be a challenge as well. Customer service was super awesome - great vibes and very accommodating. We ordered fish tacos, snapper plate and the salmon plate. I enjoyed my fish tacos with fries. My mom thought the snapper was fair and my son enjoyed his salmon. The potatoes were tasty and the rice is cajun, it wasn't spicy but for me, it doesn't compliment the fish.

Yelp
We visited the quaint little town of Paia and decided to have lunch here. I ordered an ono fish taco, and my husband ordered an ono burger. We both enjoyed our meals. The fish was really fresh!

Yelp
Very tasty and fresh fish - we stopped here on our way back from Hana with a large appetite and were not disappointed! Service was quick and a great vibe at the restaurant.
