Yelp
I mean when you see the line of people you may be worried. Don't be. They eat thru that line like you're gonna eat thru those fish tacos imma'bout to recommend to you!
Dealing with that line:
Got here at dinner time and yep, long line. But it only took us about 10 minutes to get to finally order. So you'll have time to read the menu, convince yourself you're on vaca and you deserve to be a glutton, and witness the plates as they're being served out from the kitchen window.
Order taker lady:
100% aloha from her! So nice, kind, and sweet. Knew everything about everything.
Finding a table:
It'll happen. You can't save a table when you're in line so don't be that person. I know you're hungry and you've been working hard all day but just relax and you'll find one in a minute. I promise. Now a word of advice to those who likely won't read this: when you're done eating, get up and get out. Just leave. Don't camp out checking your phones. It's cafeteria style seating so, again, finish your fish tacos or ahi plate and leave. Walk off the guilt of eating like the big kahuna you are on vacation.
Food:
Fish tacos! So good! Highly recommend them. And they come with fries and cold coleslaw. I don't like my hot touching my cold. No, I'm not a weirdo where the food can't touch eachother, but I didn't like my warm fish tacos laid out atop the cold slaw, just sapping its heat and energy. And making the shells soggy. Brah, put them on top of the fries, yeah? It's not a race to scarf them down but it's gonna take me a minute. Anyway, will the restaurant read this and adjust their final assembly process in the kitchen, prolly not but it would be nice if they did.
My lady went for the ahi fresh fish plate. NOT HAPPY you served it cooked "well done". It's been a few days since we've eaten there and I'm still aghast about this.
Should we have told them "try again and this time don't cook it solid like I'm a child"? Yes.
Should we have refused them to even place it on my table? Yes.
Should WE have told THEM at time of ordering "it's expensive ahi, please don't go past "seared rare" please!"? Yes. But we didn't. So the food comes, we're shocked, and we shut up and ate it. The fault lies somewhere between the chef and us. I know the line was long, and we are all hungry, but my advice to you my beloved review reader is if you're ordering a fresh fish plate, tell them SEARED RARE PLEASE.
My advice to Paia: please serve expensive (or any!) fresh fish SEARED RARE! We shouldn't have to ask. Pretty please and mahalo.
In closing:
Just know the line moves fast, don't hog tables, never accept fresh fish over cooked.
