"Paiche - 2016 PDX Restaurant of the Year Peruvian-inspired Paiche was named the best restaurant in Portland by Willamette Week, 2017. Paiche has delighting diners in its warm, wood accented digs on Corbett Ave and now has the recognition it so deserves. Lima born, Chef Jose Luis de Cossio brings an original mix of sophistication and comfort to South American cuisine with a Northwest flair. Taking a break from a year of fast-paced dinner service, Jose Luis is going to focus on doing pop-up events that also include private gatherings in the space. Sign up on the website to get notifications. The coffee bar is full service and only open in the early morning with breakfast items that easily travel. Vegan options and green smoothies round out a healthy selection. This twenty-four seat eatery on Corbett is bound to remain a popular ticket now and well into the future. Make your plans to experience Portland's best."

I'm from so cal, and this restaurant is one of my food trip destinations. We arrived at 1030am and found out the restaurant wouldn't open till 1130. After 10min waiting in cold wind, the restaurant owner, Jose, invited us inside to wait. We sat at the bar, Jose gave us hot coffee and chatted with us while he was preparing food, just to make sure we wouldn't be bored. He served us food around 1115am. Before we ordered, he gave us presentation of what he would serve and what the dishes were. We ordered 3 dishes and 1 side of rice. They were all very fresh and delicious with right amount of seasonings. I never knew a dish could have so many layers of aroma and flavors. The whole meal course was like a nicely conducted symphony. Even this rice side dish was super delicious to me, and I usually disliked rice. At the end, Jose gave us a birthday surprise, a very delicious cake on the house. It wasn't overly sweetened, packed with natural passion fruit and pomegranate aromas. That cake made a perfect end of this special food experience. We left with big smiles and full bellies.

Had an excellent lunch, we were the only ones in Paiche and Chef Jose explained everything to us. Very unique flavors from Peru

The food is absolutely out of this world, and you'll never believe it's really vegan. My friend and I stopped in on a whim for brunch and I'm so glad I did. The potato causa had the perfect amount of spice, and the garlic rice and vegan ceviche we got were incredible. I'm telling everyone I've ever met about this place, what a find!

My wife and I loved our lunch today at Paiche. The owner, Jose Luis de Cossio, is a very accomplished and highly skilled chef (former head chef at Andina) who prepared and served each dish himself. The cuisine is Vegan Peruvian Fusion. The menu for today's lunch was small (4 savory dishes and one dessert) which enabled us to try all but one dish. Everything looked beautiful and tasted delicious. And Jose himself could not have been more friendly and gracious. Definitely coming back to Paiche again soon, and will be bringing friends with us.

Josè is the soul of Paiche and has created a wonderful cafe. I was staying at an AirBnB in the neighborhood and enjoyed his morning drinks and a killer pumpkin/amaranth empanada.

Restaurant of the year by Willamette Week! We actually didn't know before we went. Nice intimate setting. The atmosphere was amazing. Strangers talked and shared marvels at the food. Clean, crisp, nuanced taste. Fresh, the best ingredients. Nice big portions. Service was wonderful.

Absolutely decadent vegan gluten free cuisine by brilliant artist chef Jose Luis DeCossio. Beautifully presented, intriguing tastes, and substantial satisfaction and high vibration in body. Wonderful to have desserts that are sugar free like the blue corn floral " cheesecake" with passion fruit sauce and pineapple pudding . Excellence every time we have eaten at Paiche!:

I can not say enough great things about this restaurant! I've eaten here three times, and tried a new dish every time. Each one was wonderful, fresh and vibrant in its own way. I try to make this my go to treat restaurant. The kind of place you take an old friend to catch up over amazing food. With limited seating, you do however, need to plan ahead a little. I can't wait to be back.
