Paik's Noodle, owned by Chef Jong Won Paik (one of the judges from Culinary Class Wars), provides korean-chinese comfort food in the H-Mart located in North Irvine. And does it deliver!! Paik's is known for its Jajangmyeon (fermented black bean noodle stir-fry) and Jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup). Their noodles in all of their dishes are perfectly chewy, and satisfying for hearty noodle lovers. If you're new to these dishes, the noodles are like a mix between an udon and ramen noodle, typically using thick, wheat flour. The Jajangmyeon hits that spot when you want a comforting meal with an umami punch. This dish has a perfect balance of sweet and savory (more on the savory side), with flavors oozing from caramelized onions, the salty, smoky, and decadent fermented black bean, and a generous portion of elongated ground pork adding a nice meaty touch. For meat lovers, you can order this with extra meat, and for vegetarians, they offer the dish without meat at all. They even have a seafood version of this dish! The Jjampong uses the same noodles, swimming in a spicy broth infused with seafood umami. With muscles and chunks of tender squid and the occasional baby shrimp, the soup is so rich in flavor and satisfying. While there are other strong dishes here, the noodles are the star. And each dish is accompanied by Korean pickled radishes to provide fresh, crisp respite between indulgent bites. Sitting within the food court, there is no traditional service, but the staff are friendly and very quick - even during peak hours. It's easy enough to find seating, but during busy times, it's best to secure seating earlier if you can unless you plan to take the food to go. If you're looking for comforting, filling, and delightful noodles to switch up your Asian noodle-ventures between ramens, phos, pad thai, and more, you should explore the menu at Paik's. You might just find yourself hooked by the flavors - after all, that's Chef Paik's most important criteria when judging good food.

Google
The menu looks good and they should taste good but I can’t eat here because they cannot or will not replace the pork in the Jajangmyeon which is a shame. Why don’t they consider those people who don’t eat pork?

Christian Cho

Google
I prefer jjajangmyeon more than jjamppong, but the weather was cloudy and it rainy, so I was craving jjamppong with spicy soup, so I came to eat jjamppong at Paik's Noodle (Hong Kong Banjum). I enjoyed the jjamppong while sweating over the moderately spicy jjamppong soup, chewy noodles, and the spicy taste. The noodles were not mushy and soggy until I finished eating them, so I enjoyed it so much. 😋

Google
I don't know why this place was rated terribly. I thought the Jjajangmyeon was delicious. Although it did suck because this restaurant and the rest of the food court do not give free water which is dumb in my opinion. Other than that I had no problems at all. Just make sure you bring your own water bottle.

Google
The Jjamppong has a lot of veggies and sea food. It was way better than Paik's in Korea. The place was very clean, and the cashier was kind. Good location.

Google
Got sweet an sour pork to go. It came with no sauce. Just fried, dried extra chewy pork with 80% batter. Literally nothing else in the box.... All for the low price of $15! Best part, I waited 20 minutes for this.

Google
They take forever. My whole table got their food from other restaurants. Ordered a fried rice and took 30+ minutes. In addition, the portion of fried rice was small.

Vince Nguyen

Google
Stir Fry Noodles dish tasted great. Big portion at reasonable price. Open atmosphere and many tables around.

Yelp
I didn't get any pics since I ordered takeout, but I ordered their regular seafood jjamppong and satisfied my craving for sure. Was it the best I've ever tried? No, but for being located in H Mart it was still delicious and the portion they give you is enough to share between 2 people or have leftovers for another meal. I thought it tasted even better the next day. Need to go back and try their tangsuyuk and jjajangmyeon soon.

Yelp
This franchise moved from the Zion Market to HMart a few years ago (not the same franchisee, I believe). In the beginning, the quality of food and the ingredients, and the portion, were all great. However, they began to cut costs here and there, little by little, over the years. I regularly dine here, so the reduction in quality, while gradual, was definitely noticed. The most popular dish, jjampong (spicy seafood noodle soup), is now reduced in portion, taste, and ingredients compared to what it was before. First they began to decrease the amount of seafood. My last visit was just 2 days ago, when I noticed that the bowl had just one mussle in shell. In the beginning, there were at least 4. The quality of the squid decreased when they switched to those low quality factory-cut pine cone shaped squid. The amount of vegetables per bowl was reduced. They began to serve it in smaller bowls to reduce the overall portion. They began to use cheaper utensils (low quality plastic spoons and chopsticks) and lower quality napkins. While I rarely order the black bean noodles, when I last ordered it (about a month ago) because I had a craving, the dish that I got was so bad that I wanted to just throw it away. This spot is still the most popular stall in the food court, and despite the reduction in quality, it still offers good value for the money--for an Irvine food establishment. However, as someone who remembers what it was before, I can no longer highly recommend this place. The frequency of visits will greatly reduce for me, as the last visit was kind of the last straw. I am sad that this place lost its original vigor, and has now turned into a run of the mill restaurant that cuts costs at every chance it gets.

Yelp
This is the best Paik's noodle franchise location I've been to in the US!!! Don't be disappointed with the fast service from a food court located in H-mart as their Chilli jjampong is so so so x good with heaps of seafood on a huge portion large enough for 2 to 3 adults. Adored the chili jjampong and spicy shrimp so much that it overruled the disappointment we had with jjajang myeon. Having cravings for and would love to get more chilli jjampong especially with the weather getting colder.

Yelp
Paik's Noodle, located inside HMart in Irvine's Northpark Plaza, is a great spot for a quick and flavorful meal. Getting there is easy with plenty of parking in the plaza. When you enter HMart, head to the left past the Tous Les Jours Café bakery, and you'll find Paik's Noodle at the end of the food market hall. The setup here is casual and convenient, with plenty of cafeteria-style seating so you can sit wherever you'd like after ordering your food. This eatery is one of many created by Paik Jong-Won, a well-known South Korean chef, TV personality, and businessman who's a judge on Netflix's Culinary Class Wars. According to the show, he has 2,700 stores world-wide. His restaurants are known for serving crowd-pleasing flavors at affordable prices, and Paik's Noodle lives up to that reputation. I ordered the Meat Jajangmyeon for $13.95, which was highly recommended on the menu. It did not disappoint! This was easily one of the best-tasting Jajangmyeons I've had. The stir-fried pork added a rich, savory depth, and the thick, chewy noodles were cooked to perfection. While it had a good amount of sauce, it wasn't overly saucy--just the right balance to coat the noodles and enhance the dish without overwhelming it. Often, black bean sauce has a strong, pungent flavor, but this one was mild and umami-rich without the overpowering "funk." I couldn't get enough! On a Friday night, I was pleased that there wasn't a long wait; my food was prepared and ready in no time. The food court setting is great if you're dining with friends who may want to try different vendors since there are several other options available nearby. If you're in the area and craving Korean comfort food, Paik's Noodle is definitely worth a visit for its quality, speed, and delicious flavors!

Yelp
It's nice to see Paik's open in a more prominent center that focuses heavily on not just Korean produce, but Korean cuisine all ready for you and served up in a warm plate. In this case, Paik's delivers this opportunity fully and delightfully. Inside the H-Mart market lies not only Paik's but a full food court filled with other surprises and mini eateries here and there. Let alone the service feels all automated as once you take your order, just listen for the number and you'll know your food is ready! Perfect for a chance to sit down and chat without ticking the clock for your food to be ready. My favorites from Paik's; the Stir-Fried Jajangmyeon which delivers the savoriness of not only the blackbean sauce but the crispy shrimp, tender beef and the portions! The portions are literally enough for two whole different meals. The Chili Jjampong is also a kicker! Just the right amount of spice for seafood and a bunch of vegetables to sink into! Carrying the right amount of spice is important, but when the noodles, seafood and beef carry it with even more juicy tastes, it just gets better!

Christina C.

Yelp
I was craving tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork) so my fiancé and I decided to eat before we did some grocery shopping! We ordered the tangsuyuk and the chili jjampong. The tangsuyuk is my absolute favorite here. It has a crispy chewiness that I have never had at other restaurants. Truly, the texture of their tangsuyuk always brings me back. Otherwise, their jjampong was underwhelming. I like my jjampong with the taste of the wok, but this broth was missing the smokiness. The portion is pretty big so I would definitely recommend just ordering extra noodles ($3) and you'll have enough broth for two servings!

Eva I.

Yelp
The H-Mart food court is one of our favorite spots to dine, especially with our toddler. It seems to be popular with other families too, as we often see many young kids around. They have high chairs available, which is really convenient. We love getting the jjampong from Paik's. Whenever I crave this dish, Paik's Noodle is always the first place that comes to mind. I appreciate the generous amount of cabbage that comes with it--it makes me feel a little less guilty about all the sodium, knowing I'm getting some greens!

Sam C.

Yelp
We think this is the best place for jjambong in Irvine. It's pretty spicy and unlike some places you can't request a less spicy broth. The amount of ingredients is impressive -- it's probably the biggest bowl of jjambong you'll get in Irvine as well. We particularly like the many variations such as chilli, meat, or with rice instead of noodles. The tang-see-uk is good as well. The one thing not to order is kang-bong shrimp. That's pretty bad.

Vivian P.

Yelp
#5 Jjampong was full of veggies and seafood. Broth was rich and flavorful. Noodles had a great chew. Came with a small side of pickled radish. Large portion. Located inside the North Irvine HMart food court so don't expect too much in terms of ambience or service. Would come back if I was in the area!

Jimmy C.

Yelp
So the restaurant is located in the cafeteria inside the H-mart supermarket in case anyone was looking for their storefront in the plaza lol. I finally got try this place out after attempting to eat here a while back when the food court was super busy and packed which prompted us to leave. Ordered the chili jajangmyeon, sweet and spicy chicken wings, and sweet and sour pork. Everything was solid - not the best I've had but still good. The lady working the register was very friendly and accommodating. Prices are fair considering inflation and rising cost of food these days.

Curtis T.

Yelp
This is part of an international chain and serves good jajang mein and tangusuk for the price. It is the most popular eatery in this H Mart food court. We came here on a Friday night, and the dining area filled up quickly with couples and families.

Jamie S.

Yelp
best place for korean chinese food in irvine. the jjajang and jjampong sauce and soup is flavorful, the noodle was chewy and springy. also the tangsuyuk was very light, crispy, tender and the sauce was great both in consistency and taste. it didnt just feel like gelatinous sugar water like some other places. service and ambiance is just what you'd expect from a regular mart food court but great price point. overall would recommend!

Frank P.

Yelp
I ordered the spicy chicken, and dumplings (Gyoza). The dumplings were really good. They were large and had a nice crunch. The spicy chicken wasn't spicy at all and was mostly onions. The breading was under cooked. It wasn't crisp at all. The chicken tasted a little under cooked. I would not recommend this. There are many places to eat inside H Mart. I'll go somewhere else next time.

Sandra L.

Yelp
I find it interesting that the two newer Hmart's in Irvine houses a different restaurant for Jjamppong. This Hmart in Northpark offers Jjamppong by Paik's Noodle and the Hmart in Westpark offers Jjamppong by Kyodong Noodles. I'm a huge fan of the flavor and portion of the Jjamppong at Kyodong, but if I'm already at the Hmart in Northpark, I don't want to have to drive to the Westpark location just to get some. Paik's Noodle Jjamppong is similar to Kyodong, but there are notable differences. While the Jjamppong looks very full to the brim and is shareable between two people, it has less noodles compared to Kyodong. In addition, Paik's Jjamppong doesn't have the roasted flavor like Kyodong. Lastly, there is far less seafood and the squid is rubbery and bland in the Paik's version. Despite these negative differences, Paik's soup tastes a bit spicier than Kyodong. I loved that it was spicier! I waited half an hour for my Jjamppong at Paik's.... I don't know why it takes them so long to churn out orders. If you're in a hurry, don't come here. Overall, I would come back to Paik's for Jjamppong! At around $15 a bowl, it's a great value for a hearty meal to share.

Maggie C.

Yelp
Inside the Northpark Hmart food court, Paik's Noodles offers quite a few items under $15 that will fill you up in a crunch. A big bowl of Jjamppong for under $15 is a pretty good value, sharable among 2 peeps. Although big portion with lots of vegetables, the broth at Paik's Noodles is a bit bland and average tasting. Flavorwise, I prefer Kyodong Noodle's Jjamppong better; their soup has more depth and flavor.

Mike L.

Yelp
Normally I stop by to have their Jajangmyeon (tasty but heavy) and Tansuyuk (ask for the sauce on the side), but this time I wanted to try their Seafood Bokkeummyeon. The seafood was cooked well and tender and the overall flavor was good. But I was hoping for a bit more wok taste. Also there was a little pool of sauce under the noodles which made the last few bites not as desirable.

Christian C.

Yelp
I prefer jjajangmyeon more than jjamppong, but the weather was cloudy and it rainy, so I was craving jjamppong with spicy soup, so I came to eat jjamppong at Paik's Noodle (Hong Kong Banjum). Yelp
I really hate giving negative updates but this place needs some serious quality control. I was one of the first to review this location and gave them the benefit of the doubt because it was a new business. But the order we picked up tonight was simply not acceptable. My wife ordered 2 jjajangmyeon, 1 jjajangbap and a Tangsooyuk for takeout and we got home to find missing items. I know this is a food court, but at this price point, it's annoying when you pay for something you don't get. They completely forgot the black bean sauce for the jjajangbap, gave us a miniscule amount of sauce for the Tangsooyuk, and gave us no daikon or utensils. I don't need the utensils but I've never been to a jjajangmyeon place that gave you nothing with your meal or was actually stingy with Tangsooyuk sauce. We're literally talking about sugar, water and cornstarch. But I'm really annoyed because my meal was the jjajangbap, and now I have a lump of white rice with some egg on top to eat for dinner. My point is not to be mean, but to let the owners know that some changes are needed. There are only so many family dinners you can mess up before you start losing regular customers.

Abbe W.

Yelp
I used to get Jjampong from Paik's Noodle in Zion Market. I've always liked the Jjampong there. Since they've closed, I thought this Paik's Noodle would be the same as the one in Zion Market, however I was very wrong. The taste for Jjampong here did not even come close to the one in Zion Market and it was not very good at all. The portion was very generous but a lot of veggies and not a lot of seafood. The broth didn't have the seafood taste that I was hoping for. I wouldn't be ordering that anymore. I might try their other items on the menu instead.

Wesley N.

Yelp
The first time I had Paik's noodles was at the Santa Clarita location and so I was pleasantly surprised when I found a location in Irvine near my home! The service is pretty quick. Paik's Noodles is located in the food court inside of an Hmart and so you go up to the counter to order your food, are given a number, and find any seat inside the food court. The ambiance in the food court is quite bustling as it is filled with families and customers who just finished grocery shopping and need a meal before heading home. My go-to order whenever I come to Paik's noodles are the jjajangmyeon (black bean noodles) and tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork). At first, it may seem that the amount of sauce in the jjajangmyeon is little. However, after stirring for a bit and eating your way through the dish, you find that each noodle is covered in the perfect amount of sauce for you to enjoy. Each bite is packed with so much flavor that you understand why jjajangmyeon is a great comfort food. The tangsuyuk serves crispy pork with a sweet and sour sauce that is hot and not too tangy. It pairs so incredibly well with the jjajangmyeon.

Hyewon K.

Yelp
Located inside hmart food court, there's plenty of seating and other restaurants to choose from as well. The portions are shareable and they don't skimp out on the toppings, especially in the jjamppong. Ordered the jajangmyeon, jjamppong, and tangsuyuk. Everything was mid but the broth was perfect for the weather. I wish they had the combo like the other location on Alton pkwy and gave more sauce for the tangsuyuk. Overall left satisfied.

Jonathan K.

Yelp
This entire plaza is slightly pricey, with items costing around $17-20 per dish, but this zha jiang mian is super reasonably priced! I was very satisfied with the portion size + price (especially compared to the other dishes that my friends ordered), and was pleasantly full after finishing the bowl. This experience was arguably my fastest order + payment ever, just asking the worker for the dish, and paying within 5 seconds, with no line. The bowl they give is relatively large, and they give plenty of noodles + sauce. The Zha jiang mian itself is nothing special. It is good, pretty standard, but not amazing. Plenty of noodles, so you'll be full from it. Sauce includes some vegetables, plus a little bit of meat. They also give like 3 pieces of pickled veggies on the side. H mart food court has plenty of seating, so that shouldn't be a problem. You just pick up the food from the counter, then seat yourself. Don't forget to return the tray to the store you purchased it from.

Tom S.

Yelp
I have been wanting to try at Mr Paik's restaurants for a long time and i was over the moon when i accidentally found this restaurant at H Mart. I tried Jjamppong and the flavor was a lot better than i expected. The portion is huge and i love slurping the thick noodles and lots of seafood in it. It was self service and the staff is not that friendly but i love korean food so much so i will come back again and try your jjajangmyeon during next visit.

Jennifer Y.

Yelp
We've always liked their Jjajang, so this time my husband and I ordered something different. I tried Japchaebap and I love it so~ much. My husband got the spicy Jjampong which he also loved, and my kid's favorite Tangsuyuk was good as always. Now I want to try others on the menu too

Ted K.

Yelp
It's in the food corner of h mart. It's new and clean. The taste is different from Buena Park Baek Jjamppong or other places. There is a lot of seafood. The soup is thick. The most delicious Jjamppong restaurant in Irvine

J K.

Yelp
Date. Sep 29, 2023 Time. 1:45pm Order: Go-chu Jjambbong Food: 10/10 Service: self Price/value: 10/10 I didn't have such a fond memory with this chain. The joint over at Zion market just wasn't good. However, this location turned out to be phenomenal. Not sure what all the other bad reviews are about but just based on spicy noodles, it was by far the best I've had in Irvine. Also, considering chodang next door charges $20 for what I think is the worst tofu soup, the spicy noodle only costs $14 - better, more ingredients. But it's not $ savings that I loved. The dish itself was just so wholesome, and tasty.

Ava S.

Yelp
The food here was delicious and came out fast! I don't really come to HMART but when I do I only eat here because of the outstanding service and friendly staff.

Korina S.

Yelp
Located in the HMart Irvine/ Culver food court. Food is decent. Portion and prices could be better. Jajangmyeon (noodles) were good but there were not enough noodles for the sauce. Cream shrimp was pretty good but for $20 expected it to be outstanding or more in quantity. Customer service was okay. Staff were friendly. Food takes about 15 minutes. Skimpy on napkins and the food court does not offer cups for water. Unfortunately not likely to go out of my way to head back to this place. May try the other items on the menu or other vendors in the food court...maybe. Plenty of tables available. Parking was not a challenge. Convenient location to meet up with others and get grocery shopping done afterwards.

Noah S.

Yelp
Food and service was very good. Service was super efficient. The chili jjampong was so good and the portions are super large.

Ilan K.

Yelp
We loved their noodle dishes and cream shrimp. Today, we tried some of their new dishes. We ate mapo tofu and fried rice. I give it 5 stars!!

Pogie J.

Yelp
The food here was very delicious and spicy, and very cheap for its size. The jjamppong is exactly how I wanted it to taste and has lots of seafood and noodles. The waiters are extremely nice and welcoming.

Jean J.

Yelp
My favorite dish is the #5 seafood and pork noodle, with generous portions that easily make two meals. The prices are reasonable, and they're one of the busiest spots in the food court. I recommend coming before peak hours!

G R.

Yelp
I went in on a Saturday night and they had quite a line. I expected that the food would come out fresh bc not only was it dinner time, but they were busy. I ordered the jangpong noodles and the noodles were overcooked. Total disappointment. I also ordered spicy shrimp and it was not fresh at all. The temperature was luke warm and the shrimp seemed like it was sitting there for a long time. It was the same with the dumplings. I told the employee there and they sure didn't seem to care at all. I will NOT be returning to this establishment ever again nor do I recommend it.

Evonne L.

Yelp
Yes the wait is a little extra but the #6 and #7 are so good! It's the stir fried jjm and the fried pork. JJM can feed two gluttons/hungry ppl or 2 kids and 1 glutton. Also comes w the yellow radish which is . Both costs around $35, which is not horrible. If you don't mind waiting a little it's definitely worth a try!!

Albert L.

Yelp
Tried the tangsuyuk. Large portion, but felt like the meat to batter ratio leaned toward the batter side. Tastes a bit like chicarrones. Good value for the price, but wish it was crispier and/or the pork could have some salt flavor.

Myung S.

Yelp
Seafood Jjampong was very spicy. I couldn't enjoy it much due to it being so spicy. I had to give up following several bites. Noodles and vegetables were overcooked as well. It definitely didn't taste like the dish was made to order. However, I thought the soup was pretty good and had potential. And we also ordered Stir Fried Seafood Jjajangmyun. This dish was pretty good but a little sweet for my taste. I think I would definitely come back for the Stir Fried Seafood Jjajangmyun.

Zak A.

Yelp
Amazing jaengban jjajang! A must try if it's your first time eating in the cafeteria at H Mart! Highly recommend.

J Y.

Yelp
Our family tried their new menu. My kids love their jjajang noodle and cream shrimp, but we tried their new menu this time. especially the chilly chicken and chicken tangsu. My kids love the meat jjajang noodle and chicken tangsu because they don't like any spicy. I loved the new tofu jjampong. Chilly chicken is my favorite now.

Jieun S.

Yelp
We ordered 2 Jjajangmyeon and a pork tangsuyuk. The jjajang source was waterly than other location. I feel like they was not following the receipe. Buena park and fullertin one is definately winneer. But the location itself is good. Tangsuyuk was ok.

Angela C.

Yelp
Located in the H-Mart food court on Irvine Blvd. Paik's Noodle has great jajangmyun and jjambong. Their prices are extremely reasonable, especially in our high inflation economy! $10 for jajangmyun. Loved that you can even get the jjambong soup by itself as a side (so just soup and seafood, no noodles). But like some other reviewers mentioned, it does take a bit to get your food. We thought it'd be a quick in and out thing, but waited 20 minutes for our two item order.

Caroline K.

Yelp
We doordashed Paik's noodle. We ordered jjambong and tangsooyuk. Their portions were very generous. They give so much soup, we had soup left for days! Paik's noodle gets the job done when you're craving quick Chinese/Korean food. If you want high quality Chinese/Korean food, this is probably not spot since it's in a food court too.

Jennifer H.

Yelp
This place is located in the Hmart food court. My boyfriend got the Jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup), and I got the jajangmyeon (noodles with black soybean sauce). The line was a little long, so the wait for food was about 30 minutes. The jajangmyeon was pretty tasty and a pretty large portion for about $10. I was surprised they had small meat pieces in it - would have loved if there were larger/more meat pieces. The sauce wasn't overly salty, so that was good. However, my dish wasn't piping hot - maybe it sat out for a bit while they were making my boyfriend's seafood soup. My boyfriend loved the soup. It was a little spicy for him, but not overly spicy. He loved the soft texture of the noodles and the flavor of the soup.

Yelp
This was the first time that I had been to this HMart since it had opened on January 11. I was craving jjajangmeon and really wanted a bowl. Luckily, this place sold some and the total came out to about $11 for a bow land a side of pickled radish! It did take a bit of time to come out especially since we went at lunchtime on a Saturday the week after they opened, but I think it was delicious and hot! So you order, you get a number and then you sit and wait for your food to be ready. They call out numbers on the loudspeakers and have the available orders on the screen for you to view, too. Once you're done with your food, you just return your tray back to the restaurant!

Yelp
Came here before going shopping at H mart, and I'm glad I did, because the food court became very packed! I got my fix of tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork) and jjajangmyeon and was very satisfied! The jjajangmyeon didn't look too saucy, but mixing it all together did cover everything. The sauce was very flavorful, and it had small pieces of pork and onions. The noodles were cooked perfectly and had that bite I always look for! The tangsuyuk were very crispy when I got it! It seemed like it came right out of the fryer. One thing I do like is that the sauce came with some vegetables that seemed like they were pickled. I'm glad the sauce was separated so that you can dip and immediately eat it and retain that crispness!

Yelp
Had a pick-up order, and when the order was unpacked it was incomplete. It came without the Jjangjang myun, so I called to make sure either my order was incorrectly picked up or they just forgot to add the dish. The employee/manager puts me on hold to find out and them hangs up the phone after a 5 min hold. I called back to see if it was a disconnect, and they aren't even answering the phone now. That's grade A s*** service at best. All I wanted to do was pick up the food that was not included myself, but I guess they're a business that doesn't like to make money. I can see why the reviews have been

Yelp
This is one of my favorite restaurants. The price is good, the taste is good, and it's located in the H Mart food court, so it's a really good place to go shopping and eat. My kids especially love jjamppong :)

Yelp
BEWARE! I went to Paik's tonight, 10/12/23, around 6:00 pm and ordered some take out. I sat in the dining room right directly across from Paik's noodle and watched them handle orders while I waited for my food. I had front row seats so there was no mistake in what I saw! Paik's gives out yellow pickled diakon slices with their dishes. Patrons who are dining in will pick up their food, eat it, and then bring their dirty dishes back to the Paik's counter. I watched one patron bring her dirty tray back to the Paik's counter after she was done eating. I saw that she had 2 containers of the yellow pickled diakon on her tray that looked uneaten. The lid was still closed on top of these 2 containers of daikon. I watched the young gentleman who was working at the counter, take these two closed containers of yellow diakon off the tray, and put them on the front counter. Then he took the rest of the tray and dirty dishes and put them behind him to be washed in the back. Then I watched this employee pack to-go orders WITH THESE RECYCLED DIAKON RETURNS that he just collected off of someone else's leftover tray! WTF! Seriously this is SO BAD. Are they trying to save some money by reusing diakon that they given to other patrons? How much money could you possibly save by doing this? This is SO WRONG! To the owners -- this is really BAD business practice. How do you even know if this food is safe to re-serve? What if the previous patrons had done something to this food? Contaminants can be life threatening! You can't just assume that it was uneaten because it looks like it, and it was returned with the lid still intact. If anyone got sick eating tainted food, it would be YOU who would be legally responsible since you were the one that served it! Also... as a side note... I found it highly irritating that they served the food out of order from when it was placed. I get that sometimes certain dishes take longer, but orders that were taken 22 min after mine were called before me. This caused a lot of people to come up to the counter and wonder where their dishes are because they assumed that their number was already called and they missed it since it was called out of order. Then there was a crowd of people up front waiting for the food. Aside from all this, I thought the food was good. But I am really not sure if I want to order from this place again since I don't feel it's very sanitary given their practice of reusing the diakon from other patrons who are done eating. It makes me wonder what else they reuse in the kitchen before they serve it to me?
